[Q] "Unable to write to ums lunfile /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass - HTC One X+

When trying to mount through any recovery, whether it be TWRP, CWM or Viper's TWRP, i get that message. Since there is no SD card, i can't take anything out, it's all internal. I can't seem to push anything, ADB sideload doesn't seem to work either. Can anyone help? It's a completely wiped phone at the moment, I can't access the SD card either way.

Having the same problem.

ADB can be a bit tricky, depends on your system . Have a look at the proper driver or use the toolkit to push

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried a sideload via the tool and no luck. The phone is just waiting to receive file and never sees the PC.
Might be an issue with the HTC drivers (as I also used my laptop to config an HTC HD2 to run Android). So perhaps the tool is looking at the wrong HTC drivers (?). Might also be a permissions issue, but I did go in and manually gave rights to "file" in both lun0 and lun1 and still no luck.
I was eventually able to transfer the file using by using Android Wi-Fi Sync manager (since I was lucky enough to have my old ROM file in my sdcard and managed to install and boot up). But for those who have wiped their sdcard as a first step to installing a new ROM this is obviously not an option.
I will try to update the HTC drivers on my PC and let you all know if it worked.

You have to go into recovery modus ADV,too and wait a bit

OK. I'll try it again when I get home. Cheers.
Update:
OK, it was a driver issue. I could have sworn I loaded the drivers for the HOX+ back after messing with the HD2, but apparently I was wrong.
So re-loaded HOX+ drivers and now WIN8 recognizes the internal storage as son as I plug in the USB cable.
Thx for your helping me get my head on straight.

The sdcard is the built-in 16gb storage.
In the guide you will see external sdcard too, that's the optional card
which is a removable one.
so just to clarify i don't need a SDcard to root if im following the guide that's stickied?

Looks like you are not using the Samsung Unified USB driver.
Try this one, this is what I use.
Here is the Samsung Unified USB driver: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13196871580881
Be sure to uninstall kies if it's installed and uninstall any other samsung usb driver,
then reboot windows before installing the unified samsung drivers.
Good Luck!

Do you have the newest KIES installed? I think I read in another thread where someone else experienced this same problem and it finally got corrected when they installed the newest version on their PC.

I was trying to flash a different rom onto my phone with TWRP and wiped EVERYTHING, OS and all, and now i cant get android file transfer on my mac to recognize it so i cant put the rom on the phone to flash, and my PC wont recognize its attached.
Anyone know what to do? apparently im a complete moron when it comes to phones lol
thanks in advance
EDIT** i found something about adb sideload but it keeps saying "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command" in command prompt even tho i installed the android SDK. i feel like im missing something

This is solved he pm'd me and I got it sorted

a sorry didnt see that you are using mac... well then you need to add your adb command to your path variable so bash can find it... should be the same principle on mac as for other operating systems. just google that or execute the command directly from within it's directory so bash can find it.
edit: ah ok then good that it's fixed

[Q] Internal Storage gone?

please help.
almost finished rooting my ATT HTC One.
windows 7 pc, TWRP, going off qbking youtube vids.
(i am exactly at the 7:30 mark of qbking77's youtube video "How to root HTC one"
i have sucessfully unlocked bootloader,
installed TWRP recovery, and able to pull up TWRP menu.
i first noticed (as i was trying to run a backup) that my "data" directory was gone.
so my phone basically is not seeing it's own "internal memory", but when i connect to my pc (usb)
my phone/driver installs just fine, i can see my HTC one directory and all contents....
everything is there, but it's just the phone isnt recognizing it's own internal storage (make sense?)
am i just in a wierd boot mode?
this is my first root....so hopefully i didnt mess something up too bad.
thanks for the help
aj

Browse Internal Storage from Computer

Is there a way to browse the internal storage over USB connection to a PC? I could've sworn I've done it in the past but drawing a blank now. I think I might have use HTC Sync. Want to back up the contents before running RUU this weekend. If not will use AirDroid and download as a zip. Running 4.1.1 btw, latest MeanBean.

It might not be what you're looking for exactly, but you can always do it through a command prompt with ADB. Just gotta bone up on your Linux terminal commands.

Yea, didn't think about that. Not exactly what I was expecting, but it'll work if it comes to it. Spent last hour of work troubleshooting a server via SSH so might just continue in that direction tonight.

Mac unable to see M9 as a Hard Drive

It had it ask me what to do with the USB connection when I plugged it in, which I don't mind. I choose File Transfer. My Mac isn't recognizing it as a hard drive, like it did. Gonna have to figure this one out... Any ideas? (I never use HTC Sync...)
Update: I did the online chat with HTC and tried almost everything from clearing the Cache partition to reinstalling Sync Manager for the drivers. Still not working. Funny enough it is working on my Windows 10 laptop....

Are you using the android file transfer app on your mac?
My experience is that it will only mount the extsd as a drive...internal sd needs that app, who knows why

Up until I updated to Marshmallow, I've been able to plug into my Mac and use both internal and SD card as hard drives. I've never used HTC Sync.... It still works like normal on my Windows 10 laptop.

You got lucky that it worked as a drive before, but according to google this is the standard way to transfer via mac:
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
"To transfer files, Android File Transfer must be installed on your computer"

I used the program, and yes it worked. I really don't think I was "lucky " before. Its worked from the second I got my Mac a year ago. Even HTC and Apple thinks it should recognize it. I think it might be a bug with this version of M. I'm betting they fix it.

Honestly, I'm not even sure if I have a twrp installed. I can see both on my Windows 10 machine... I can see it on the Mac using Android File Transfer. I could plug directly into the Mac before the M update and could see both as HD's...and of course drag and drop files.
I assumed you were rooted. If you aren't, you wouldn't have twrp.
But I believe if you put the phone in download mode, you should be able to sideload files.
