[Q] Install Fastboot Driver to flash kernel - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello everyone.
I am trying to flash my Xperia Mini Pro to a current 4.1 CM ROM.
I am using this howto: https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/download/howto-install
But i am stuck at step 3 because I cannot get a driver installed.
I've tried the following:
Installed flashtool and ALL drivers from flashtool-drivers.exe
Installed Google USB Drivers
Tried to install Google USB Drivers with modified .inf file. Install failed
Installed SUS
Installed PC Companion
Still, after all that effort, my PC shows my connected phone (in fastboot mode) as "Sony Fastboot Interface" and Flashtool says "Device not found".
I am currently running a CM 2.3.3 on my phone, so it is definately rooted.
How can I get the correct fastboot driver installed?
My OS is Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Thanks in advance,
McFarlane

For win 8 u need to disable driver signature verification.
Go to charms, settings, general, advanced startup, restart now
Then click troubleshoot, advanced options, startup settings, restart
Then choose 7th option using f7 or 7
Don't forget to hit thanks

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I already did this. Otherwise I could not have installed the drivers from flashtool.

Me too...
I think is the USB port problem, because I've tried at my old upgraded win8 laptop with USB 2.0 port it works but at new win8 laptop with USB 3.0 port can't detect...
Also I've tried with a hub, but the flashtool detect my phone as flash mode although I'm connect it as fastboot mode...
thanks mate its working fine for me now that im on windows 8. :good:
this is a must have tutorial for windows 8 users
I had a problem with the connection, the solution was to disconnect the mouse from the computer when turning it on. If you have the same problem that all be separate from the computer and reboot it
My mouse: Gigabyte ECO500
Does anyone knows why it doesn't work on my laptop? There are no problems to install the drivers, but the phone doesn't become recognized. I have USB 3.0.

the adb backup not functionaly for xperia 2011
Thanks but my problem was solved changed usb port from 3.0 to 2.0
But my problem is it doesn't even recognize flash mode, so i cannot install any driver.

Trouble with fastboot drivers

Sorry if I'm being a noob here but I seem to be unable to install fastboot drivers. I've tried pointing driver installation to the usb folder I've downloaded and unzipped but in device manager the device just appears for a few seconds then goes off. I tried using flashtool and installing the drivers from the drivers section, as it told me but even though I completed the installation a couple of times it still tells me everytime I try to enter fastboot in flashtool that the drivers are required and that they can be found in the drivers folder and I'm getting a bit of tired of this. I can't root, unlock bootloader or do anything worthwhile without the fastboot drivers it seems.
Sorry again if I'm being noob I came from a galaxy ace and over there it was a lot simpler and the process of rooting, installing CWM and flashing a ROM did not even warrant the use of a computer so I'm pretty confused.

first check whether you checked the fastboot and flashtool drivers and installed.............if yes then try restarting your PC and then try again....... The problem u mentioned happens a lot(it happens to me)...... just be patience.......
Also try toggling between mtp and msc mode.

It's possible that your operating system (Windows 7 or 8) is preventing unsigned drivers to install. I've had the same issue and I could install the drivers successfully after disabling "Driver Signature Enforcement" on your Windows operating system. Reboot your PC and press F8 while booting. Then select " Disable Driver Signature Enforcement". Then install the unsigned driver.

Re: [Q] [Live With Walkman] Can't get flashtool fastboot to work (Windows 8)
That's a win 8 issue, u need to disable driver signature enforcement and then reinstall the drivers, I will copy the steps in a jiffy.

Go to Charms bar > Settings > General > Advanced Startup > Restart Now
Wait till a menu appears
Click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup settings > Restart
After that you will be presented with a menu. The 7th option is "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"
Press number 7 or F7 to continue booting to Windows 8 with digital signature enforcement disabled.

Tried holdin volume up instead, light goes blue, but still get "USB device not recognised"
green is for flashmode and voilet is for fastboot mode and try with volume up button pcc uses flashmode so it tells you to put with volume down and did your phone is detected by pcc if not try installing pcc again and then disable windows verification and then try again

Good day is this woking on wndows 8.1 too ??
On my Windows 8.1 64-bit at step 8 it doesn't recognize it as S1 fastboot device.
When I select android_winusb.inf and click OK, it says the folder specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for my device, make sure it is designed to work with Windows x64-based systems.
So I can't. ;(

FastBoot on Windows 10

Dear All,
I have been struggling to install fastboot drivers on Windows 10 for my Phone (D6503) for almost a month now.
I tried many of the options suggested here like disabling Driver signature enforcement, using the drivers they suggested, etc etc but nothing has worked yet.
Sony Flashtool only recognizes ADB and not Fastboot.
Request for your inputs on this.
Thank you!
Are you using latest version of flashtool? I had this problem with the old version and then I installed drivers by disabling driver signature enforcement. Now it works fine.

I did try that, and it installs successfully (even with the old version) but FlashTool does not recognize the device in Fastboot when I do a "Check Drivers" in tool and cmd prompt as well. Am I missing something here?
What is the Device Manager entry for Z2 Fastboot mode ? (For ADB, I get sa111 or so)
Thanks!

Yup.
It was a noob error on my part. I thought it will show both ADB and Fastboot devices simultaneously.
Now the Device Manager shows 'Sony Fastboot Device' upon connecting it in Fastboot mode. Hopefully I can now root it without any more problems.
Thanks!

Hold down either SHIFT key while tapping or clicking on Restart, available from any Power icon.
Tip: Power icons are available throughout Windows 10 and Windows 8 as well as from the sign-in/lock screen.
Note: This method does not seem to work with the on-screen keyboard. You'll need to have a physical keyboard connected to your computer or device to open the Advanced Startup Options menu this way.

Heh, we're all a noob at some point
btw, another similar bug is when you use FlashTools "Fastboot Restart" option, or Fastboot boot into recovery.
Sometimes your Device get's stuck!
You see the blue LED on the device but your device won't be seen by the computer.
Only way to solve this error is by using another USB port on the computer.
Does anyone still have this file available to download? [Drivers] FlashTool Xperia Driver Pack (v1.5) Seems DoomLords links are no longer valid. Thank you in advance
