Huawei G600 U8950-51 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since no one have ever asked for this model, i will... Is anyone trying or did develop a custom rom for it? This is the Latin American model, one sim card, no NFC.
All other ROMs made are russian or made for other models and Huawei said they wont release any update either to Jelly Bean or anything else for this phone so can anyone help our latin users?
Thank you.

I have the same request!

It has an unrootable ROM, i suggest you either buy a european one or just wait, we have been screwed with these ROMs
Thanks for the reply.. but what is actually the problem with the ROM? BTW, what is an unrootable ROM? Basically, I need Chinese input as I am working in China.. therefore, an european HTC might not work without chinese input..

I bought my HTC Hero from a German site, and apparently the default language doesn't have Chinese. I've tried both DrizzyDrake's and modaco's ROM, and have no problem inputting Chinese.
OK thanks.. this is good info.. I am very new to android.. so by loading modaco ROM will have chinese input as well as the latest patch 2.73 that solve the lagging issues right?

Hi , if you buy it from Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia or HK they all can't be upgraded or rooted, the SPL on the ROM has restrictions, if you plan to buy one, make sure it best not to be 2.73.xxx or if you do get a 2.73.xx atleast get a 2.73.405.5 which is european and flashrec works with it, the asian roms flashrec doesnt work with. You will be screwed and can't update to anything else.

i bought my Hero from Smartone-Vodafone in Hong Kong, my firmware is 2.73.721.9, no lag, very smooth
rooted 2.73.721.9, no custom ROM's
Followed the guide on http://blog.trevoreckhart.com/2009/11/10/cdma-hero-root.aspx & rooted device OK.
Used the recovery-RA-hero.1.5.2.img recovery image. DO NOT use "heroc"!
When loading/flashing the recovery image, it gave me lip about a space requirement (unable to read/write recovery partition), but worked fine after I rebooted the device & tried again, so it's probably a good idea to reboot the device before attempting.
busybox on the device helped a lot (thanks to tmzt on IRC for his great help, btw)
As of yet, I have not been able to locate a ROM that I could load on the build v 2.73.721.9.
The MoDaCo ROM (v.3.0) installs OK, but it does not boot up. Just sits there on the boot/loading screen, but I was able to access root shell via adb.
Luckily, I have thorough backups, so it's safe to try stuff & simply revert back to a earlier snapshot

[Q] How to change localization?

Friend who lives in India bought for his mother new HTC Desire X and asked me if i can replace the Indian stock ROM with EastEurope version. Is it possible without root/S-OFF? If yes, please point me to some HOW TO thread since i cannot find one with proper answers. Thanks alot

No! You cannot exchange stock roms of an Indian based DX with a East European stock roms. The first error you will get is CID mismatch. You may know CID means country ID. As such the CID of Indian DX is HTC__038 and that of East European varies. Most likely HTC__040 etc.
Still a lot needs to be done on the DX, and the path to recovery, should anything goes wrong is not so smooth, as only official stock for East Europeans roms are only made available.
Thanks alot for quick answer. Ill forward it to friend with recommendation that his mum should at least learn basic english

Don't know much about LATAM roms, but the safest way to update is definitely via BMM - it's not permanent, you can install multiple roms, while preserving the stock one.

is possible to flash the Chinese version with USA rom version

I believe you can if you unlock the bootloader. I saw someone already post the new fw, should be not a problem.

Is that also the case for the European version KIW-L21? should we keep the L24 and L21 really seperated or is the firmware interchangeable? I have already bootloader unlocked. Waiting for superb things to happen for the Honor

Where did you get the 'phone from? I suspect that C576 might be specific to Israel, which would explain your inability to find it online. An even worse possibility is if it's a firmware build specific to your carrier - in which case you're at the mercy of your carrier as to when/if updates will become available.
My 'phone (which I got directly from China) has C636 (international) firmware.
If you're interested in "re-branding," have a look at FunkyHuawei's thread - that'll help you get to an international flavour of firmware which'll separate you from your reliance on your carrier.

Can you explain a bit more about "re-branding"
Is it reversable?
Can it damage the phone/functionality?
Etc..
Thanks in advance

I have to point out that I haven't performed anything mentioned in that thread, so can only speak from what I've read in that thread and elsewhere about the process.

Yes, as long as you have access to a copy of the original ROM.

Potentially, anything you do to the 'phone which involves a screwdriver or a USB cable can cause damage. I've done a lot of reading on the process and haven't seen any stories of irreversible catastrophes, but as with everything, it's up to you to decide whether you're comfortable with proceeding.
I'd suggest you have a read of at least the OP of that thread to get an idea of what's involved, then read through replies to see what sort of problems people have encountered and how they were resolved.
