Seems stock, we need a screenie of the kernel and baseband version to tell you what firmware version you have although it looks like the ics ota.
Boot into bootloader by
1. Pull battery and replace
2. Hold volume down + power until hboot shows up
3. Look at s off/s on status, radio versions and if it says unlocked or tampered at the top.
Tampered means there is a custom recovery installed and probably rooted, this is good if you wanna flash a ROM.

Looks like you have the leaked global ics ruu firmware from mid 2012 and a rom based on it. Since you are still s-on, you may find it difficult to revert back to anything older (such as the official ics). The kernel looks to be the one included in the leaked ruu as well.

Hi mate,
Is that mean something? Bad or good maybe?
So the step is make it s-off, flashing the rom, and.... Am i right?
I dont get any trouble with thia phone. I just want to know are there any better setting than i have? If not maybe i'll stick with this one. (for battery and performance maybe)
Looking forward from you all...

I dont want to revert back to official. I want to move forward as long it will give me a benefit by changing the phone settings/installed i have now.
If you please willing to tell me the step, i'll do the rest myself.. Hehe.
Wich is first? Make it s-off?
Thanks..

1. S-off. You may have to relock to perform the s-off. I can't remember. Go do your research before starting.
2. Flash venom Rom. This is an ics Rom with zero bugs.
3. Flash the team bamf kernel (made by same developer) this kernel will increase your battery life by about 50%
Good luck

Oke Piaband..
So the s-off first.
Thanks mate.
Going to start a little adventure here on forum.

S off might come off as confusing..
It's not necessary some kernels will flash via ph98img (the bootloader will search for this and ask you to install the update)
Joelz (maker of viperrez and bamf kernel) has implemented this in his rom and kernel.
If your s on, normally you would need a computer to flash the boot.img separately via fastboot commands (search more about using adb and fastboot)

You don't need to s-off. S-off makes flashing a ROM a little easier by automatically flashing the kernel afterwards, but as was mentioned, these days a lot of ROMs make the kernel file for you and the phone goes to hboot and you just accept the update and it flashes it for you.
s-off makes it easier to brick your phone. So it may be better to stay s-on until you get the hang of the Rezound way of doing things. I'm s-on and on the same global leak and I have no problem with it. The ROM I run, EclipticRez makes a PH98IMG file for the kernel so it's easy peasy.
So you are probably ready to flash a ROM. But I would check what recovery you have on there. Boot into bootloader as you did before then navigate to recovery. The two main ones used for the Rez are Amon Ra and TWRP. Amon Ra is currently at v3.16, I don't know about TWRP but you can find it in the Development section and find out. Then once you know you have the latest recovery you can flash a ROM. There should be instructions in the thread for how to flash the ROM and if you need the kernel separately the dev usually posts it for download, otherwise you have to pull it out of the ROM and flash it using fastboot.

Seems a lot to learn.
But, thank you guys.
I will keep searching the forum to find out more info before i decide to flash.
Thanks for al advices and nice to know you all here.

What do i even do with s-off?

I have s-off, what can i do now. Was it only to get the *locked* back?
One big deal for a lot of people is that you will be able to make and restore nandroid backups without having to seperately go into hboot and flash the kernel (boot.img) for what you're restoring.
Also people want to be able to download and flash roms in a single file and installation process. Once devs begin packaging them for s off, you won't do the old two file method of rom in recovery followed by PH98IMG.zip in hboot.
Everything will be included in recovery.
And to me the big deal is that you can flash the latest ice cream sandwich radio firmware by flashing the RUU, and whenever you want you can how back to the gingerbread radio firmware and gingerbread roms. As opposed go how its always been where once you upgraded there was no going back for radio firmware.
Also people will tell you that's the reason that we don't have a lot more developers on our device is because of s off. I personally think that's wishful thinking, and the user base is a reason a lot of devs walked away, but I'm passing along the information since its posted constantly that once s off is achieved there will be a line of devs a half mile long begging to get to the rezound.

Quick question, Charlie. I came from the Dinc and am used to backup/restore including the kernels. If I were to do a backup right now(already did), after being s-off, will it include the kernel? Or, does something in the process need to be modified before the kernel is included in the backup? I have a feeling it will be included right off the bat, but just curious.
You can flash one of the awesome splash screens in my thread in the theme section

Backups done by amon ra included the kernel you just couldn't restore it without con's nandroid helper. So when you go to backup and it lets you select what to backup, make sure boot has an x next to it.

Thank you. That's what I didn't have to do on the Dinc, because I used CWM. I'll make sure to have this checked in Amon Ra. Although, I think it's checked by default.

Does S-Off mean we have a better chance of getting RIL working on AOSP possibly? I think I kept reading that AOSP wasn't ever going to be possibly until we got S-Off.
Also how the hell did we get S-Off? Did HTC release it, or did someone find a bootleg way to get S-Off with their own research? I was on XDA like a day or two ago before S-Off was ever mentioned then all the sudden we have it.

Some guys advocate that AOSP devs will flock back to the rezound if we have s off.
We got s off because some developers from a completely different device put in a crapload of time and effort in order to figure out the exploit and then test it on our devices.

This is my main reason. My Rezound loves the radios and Incredikernel. So I did a mixture of the 3, s-0ff, ics firmware, & Ineffabilis. Also just re-packed a GB rom that included kernel boot.img flashing and it worked BEAUTIFULLY. No PH98IMG flashing done at all.
Also, can always go back to Rezrom Ex 3.4 via nandroid without issue.
Does anyone know if we will be able to get the mount points changed for sdcard and sdcard2? I know recovery reads the actual sdcard, but for apps backing up data, it all goes to the internal "sdcard". More than once have I gotten in a rush and forgot to backup my internal sdcard. just hoping we can get that changed around.
Someone should know this
Is there anything to gain with supercid on this device?

This process is DEAD SIMPLE ... Just time consuming if you can't get the "wire Trick" timing down.
All devices are different. All I can suggest is READ ... READ ... READ
Since you don't really even know what you want to do ... S-Off can wait. Then maybe a different s-off process may be available when you DO need it. I doubt it will be "easier" though.

I have s off but my phone says locked. Is that normal or do I need to unlock again?

Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
No DO NOT unlock because if you do, you will need to S-on before you are able to re-lock and return your phone to stock.
You need to flash the patched HBOOT for whichever firmware you are currently running (GB or ICS) and the "locked" will go away in addition to full use of fastboot commands.
Or just flash amonra as a ph98img.zip file.... After that just download a rom and boot to recovery and flash the new rom from there.
Definitely don't unlock though... If you do you will always show unlocked or relocked.
I had to s on then back off because I made that mistake and unlocked when it first came out. If you don't use adb commands there's no real reason to switch hboot.

Depends on which firmware you are on and what you want to do. You can simply do the S-off process without flashing the jb hboot to get to S-off. Then flash recovery in your bootloader (use a PH98IMG.zip) to be able to flash your Rom. If you want fastboot commands while still being locked, either use the jb hboot or the modified hboot in the dev section, depending on your current hboot version.
You can OC the phone, but ICS kernels have perflock enabled, so scaling doesn't work great. Options are better on GB.

Lol it happens, get used to it.
Anyways on to the individual at hand.
What's your device info? Like hboot version, what android version were you on before trying to flash? ICS or GB?
Here's a basics run down on how to get things going again.
There's a stock ruu/ota thread in the dev section, grab the stock GB ruu for your device, put your phone into fastboot mode (check in the amaze bible thread how to do this), restore your device, if it's a zip file for your carrier, rename it to PH85IMG and place it on your sd card, reboot into bootloader and then hit volume up to restore the stock ruu.
If it's an exe file, put it into fastboot and run the exe file, follow all steps and restore the device.
Once done, update to ICS via the software update option available on your device under settings>about phone>software update
Once you're on ICS, flash a custom recovery via hasoon's tool, then reflash the rom you were trying to flash in the beginning.

[Q] A simple, "How do I?"

Hey forum,
First off I'd like to say, I have done quite a bit of searching on this and either get caught up in endless pages of crap I don't fully understand or I just can't find the answer. My apologies if this issue is simple and out there.
With that said, I'm definitely a noob at all the rooting and ROMs for phones. I've spent 20 years using cell phones as.. well, phones! Had no idea the world that was waiting for me and the time consuming hours of research and trial and error.
So I got the Amaze and first off, wanted to root it so I used CWM which is currently running. I then get an update notification for ICS but every time I try to install it, I'm stuck at a green X logo.
Is there a way to install ICS with CWM already on my phone or do I need to remove it first? I have searched for both answers which is why I finally set up an account and created this thread.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

You might have to unroot it and install ICS firmware before upgrading to ICS roms, Im not completely sure, I might have done this the long way after reading into confusion. The shortest way to get ICS on your amaze is using 4ext to flash a rom if CWM does not work.
Well if ur coming from GB, make sure take everything back to stock..unroot.. stock GB and stock recovrry and relock the bootloader

Download my toolkit. Relock your bootloader. Download the ICS ROM from here. Rename it to PH85IMG. Place on your EXTERNAL SD card. Boot into your bootloader. Let the stock ROM flash.

Thank you Hasoon! I actually wish I had seen this post earlier. I got stuck on so many different threads with users having the same exact issues and I finally was able to relock the phone. Not sure what I was doing wrong but it's all good now.
However, after relocking, I went back to stock instead of just doing the the ICS rom. As I'm typing this, my phone is in the process of of installing ICS via the OTA updater. Now I just want to root it again and move on for now. This crap is way too time consuming for me
**Edit - Is it normal for this phone to sit at the HTC Amaze 4g screen during boot for about a minute? I thought this thing booted super fast before I started messing with it

So you must flash to the stock ics rom before you flash into a custom ics rom if coming from GB?

Yes - you can't just flash the rom, as flashing the RUU in the bootloader as hasoon instructed actually repartitions the phone, and writes a bunch of files you can't flash anyways unless you had s-off(like radio, etc).
And for you or the OP, please click the amaze bible in my signature, it covers all of this, it is well organized- I challenege you to find a question that isn't answered in it(hint: if the question has been asked before, and it likely has, it is answered in that bible!)

New Rezound user

Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a Rezound and I want to jump into rooting/modding it. Im coming from the Samsung Fascinate, and that thing was super easy to root. I've searched the forums here but I just couldn't find a root guide. I want to flash Infection rom but I really don't know how to go about it. I don't know what this s-off and s-on business is about and I don't want to do anything to my phone without further research to prevent bricking my device. My software number reads: 3.14.605.13 710RD. I am running stock android 4.0.3. Could anyone please send me in the right direction to go about flashing custom roms on my new device? Thank you!

here is the latest Ruu Leak, there is an ota that is newer but the ota "over the air" update caused problems for alot of people. So its useless and just easier to use the latest Ruu and anyone will back me up on that statement: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
i recommend TWRP recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902381
and if you do decide to s-off, READ! ABOUT! IT! and make sure you know what your doing befor you attempt. ill just supply the link for you so you got something to come back to if you decide to do it: http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm
i just supplied the links since its 3am in 10 minutes lol, so if you got any questions or problems just post back. i might be up and other people will help :good:
EDIT: You will need ADB to do all the above listed

Thank you so much! i successfully installed infection rom and am using it with s-on buy flashing the boot.img after flashing the rom. i think i will stay away from s-off for now, but thank you again for your help
I was on the same OTA as you. Unlocked via HTCDev, flashed recovery in fast boot and superuser. From there you can flash ROMs while s-on. I went a step further using the unlimited.io website and got s-off.
If you stay s-on you need to have a computer to flash the boot.IMG from the ROM you want which is the kernel.

Oh I see. OK I will look into that

hey again guys, i just have a few questions.
Say if i were to want to flash a newer version of infection rom, would be okay to just wipe cache and dalvik then flash the newer version unless instructed by the dev to wipe everything? Also, since I am currently s-on, will i have to flash the boot.img everytime i flash a new custom rom or update infection rom?

I always wipe everything but yea you should be OK. If you change ROMs you have to flash the boot.img. I didn't stay son long so in not sure about updates. Try it if it doesn't boot then you have too.

I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37061598 its the unofficial port of cm 10.1, stang is awesome enough to build an update every fourth night. So we do flash an update zip on top of our first flash and so on
If its an update to the ROM you should just be able to flash on top of it and wipe cache\dalvik cache. the only time you need a complete full wipe is if the android version changes from 4.2.2 which android version doesn't change often OR if you start having major issues.
As far as flashing the boot.img in bootloader every update. You should ask the dev or an s-on person using the rom. I wouldn't know because I s-off'd my rezound within the first 2hours of having it

Actually, it depends on the ROM. I use EclipticRez and Snuzzo and Hawknest have it set up to create a PH98IMG file of the kernel you choose in setup, it puts in in a folder so all you have to do as s-on is navigate to it in recovery and flash. So no need for a computer.
I've had the phone since it came out and I'm still s-on. Doesn't bother me a bit.
I looked into S-off for the Rezound and I found Hasoon2000s all in one tool kit found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696394
I also read about how there no more support for windows OS for s-off. I'm not familiar with linux unfortunately (something i have to check off in my bucket list someday). Is there any way to achieve s-off while using windows?
I did the wire trick on windows 7, I search for a guide for you on xda. I'll edit the post if I found something
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612035 I found this. Its exactly what you need

Thanks.
So im looking for a full featured lightweight rom that has everything working. Neo has, well, a million roms out, needing something lean. Trying to move away from sense or maybe a desensed? Ideas?

You can try EclipticRez, I do believe there's a desensed option when installing but I'm not completely positive. If there is give it a go. It's really smooth and there's good, active support for it.
