if you wan't to upgrade you don't need to unroot, just flash firmware trough odin (addicted to your country)
also to unroot just flash with oding (stock firmware) and wipe data/factory reset and done,
threads are everywhere in general just look around

Since this topic is started might aswell use it instead of making a new one...so my question is:
From what I've read, in order to install CM7.2 on a Galaxy S2, you also need to install a custom kernel...so if I did all that, and want revert back to my original ROM and kernel, I just flash a stock ROM from Sammobile? Or the Kernel will remain the custom one (if so, how do I change it back to the stock one)?

Nope your kernel won't be left until you flash a Rom which has no kernel, but all Samsung roms out there have kernels inside the flashable tar or zip, you ain't smart if you don't provide a kernel which is made specially for the Rom

hi thanks for the reply but i think i figured it out. i was looking in other posts and stuff about the same problem and or ones about how to root and i think i just used a out of date kernel thing. because i found the same kerrnel i used that messed up my cell but the other one i found was a newer version i tihnk. so i downloaded that and did the thing with odin and yah it rebooted perfectly and from what i see my cell is rooted.
Good news then

I bet the yellow triangle gets on your nerves next ha! i found using a jig was the best way and safest to get rid of the triangle, but there is software to get rid i think it is by chainfire.
Galaxy S2 i9100 wont reboot after rooting
Hi There,
I have exactly the same problem. I did try to root and followed the instructions given in galaxys2root dot com.
Followed the link "ww.galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/" . ( One 'W' is intentionally missing in the referred link as a spoof. I am a new user with less than 10 posts so I am not allowed to paste a working link. Sorry) I went through the video first and followed all instructions threadbare.
Odin returned a green success message too. but the phone would not wake up beyond the Samsung Boot logo for S2. I was on ICS version 4.0.X prior to the ilflated root and my phone version is GT-I9100G.
You must excuse me, I did not note down my previous baseband version and similar other details in the about phone. I bought the phone from a Hongkong based ebay vendor and I live in Australia.
I am hoping i have not lost completely my phone and data. I have written too that web site too. Could you please help as soon as possible. I am without a phone.
thanks heaps in advance,
guppeey

Samsung Galaxy S3 MetroPCS accidental system wipe.

Hi everyone I need your help
So I recently got a Galaxy S3 from MetroPCS and this one has a model number of SGH-T999N with andorid 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. When I was trying to unroot the phone I accidentally wiped the system off from it and essentially bricked it. I can't seem to find the right stock firmware to flash onto it and I can't find any related post to it. I'm panicking and I need help!
Sorry wrong forum this is I9300/I9305 only .
Use Google search >>>> S3 MetroPCS

restore your nandroid backup
Like the idiot I am I did not make a back up nandroid...
then you need to ask in the correct section for a stock ROM, or fund one yourself

[Q] Unrooted, partially rooted purgatory? Please help!!!

Background:
I had my Galaxy S3 rooted on 4.0.4 ICS with no problems for several months, however when I wanted to upgrade to 4.1 Jellybean via OTA I quickly learned that the OTA update won't work on a rooted OS. I installed an called Voodoo OTA which claimed to be able to temporarily unroot you device so you can get the OTA Jellybean update. It failed, did not accomplish what it claimed to be able to do, however what it did do was patially unroot my phone to a state that it can neither be unrooted fully or re-rooted back to a full rooted state. I did a full clean wipe and factory reset and I am still in the same position. I have used the Android Toolkit for S3 to flash it back to factory state it just hangs in ODIN at the boot.img, I have attempted to root and un-root with the Android Toolkit multiple methods and .tar files, nothing, just hangs when it gets to the imaging part.
The phone is fully functional, but I feel imprisoned by the phone now as it operates like an unrooted phone, but I can't upgrade it.
Can anyone help me out of this, even to just get back to a rooted phone.
Thank you to anyone and everyone for your advice!:good:
Question one do you have an I9300 model ??
If so wipe rom flash stock firmware via Odin then root using PhilZ recovery .

I have SGH-I747 model for AT&T. I just tried using ODIN directly without the S3 Toolkit and I get a 'Complete (Write) operation failed.' see attached print screen.
It seems as though my device will not allow writing to it. My internal SD card is not encrypted.
Answer you are in the wrong forum as it says this is I9300/ 05 .

Thank you for clarifying. It's a bit confusing, I thought that was the standard model number.

If ur motherboard is fried, there isnt anyway to solve it except replacing.

Give a thank if i helped you.
You are asking in the wrong forum, anything you find in here will also brick it.
Search in the i9305 q&a forum, see if they have a rescue firmware with a pit file.
