thanxxx alot in advance...

Before I answer any of your questions, I'll let you know that HTC pulled the JB update after it gave users some very horrible bugs. However, they may soon release a fixed JB update which should be available to you. In other words, you won't get the update right now. However you can prepare for it.
1) Firstly, if you do not have a nandroid backup, you're going to have to find someone with a nandroid backup for the same CID as you. You can find your CID by installing CID Getter from the Play Store. Then you need to find someone on here with the same CID as you.
2) At the time of writing this the only ROM working with JB Hboot is the SkyDragon ROM. Note that the ROM you speak of is not JB but ICS, so I don't see why you'd want to upgrade to JB only to reinstall the ROM again.
Hope I've helped

How do you know this.? WRG to the update been.pulled.

Ahh cheers @RossFixxed
@ORA 1 well there is no official statement from HTC about pulling the update, but people who should be receiving the update have reported that they are unable to update. Various people have also reported discussing with HTC support about the bugs and apparently they are aware. If you look on other threads in different sections on the forums there are people confirming that HTC have pulled the update.

Ok, yes my question was a bit screwball  i want to know how do you know that they were going to do an update. Because i have been onto them, and i think there is a better chance of seeing a pig fly.....Ok, i am being a bit sarcastic, but with no response from the manufacturer does give cause for concern.
IF HTC wants to keep their brand as one of the top brands of the world, they have to communicate much better.
All we want to hear is " We note your concerns about JB problems on the DX, we are attending to it, and as soon as we have developed a fix we will pass it on.
We do apologise for our error, please be patient......
So i am almost certain there will be (a) a fix update or (b) a new update which includes the fix.

Oh right, okay. I can't remember exactly where someone posted this (there are so many threads on the bugs in JB now ) but I 100% remember reading about somebody who contacted HTC and got a reply concerning fixes for the update. I'll try getting onto them too, the more people kick up a fuss, the more likely they'll fix it
However there are a lot of great devs who have the DX and it won't be too long before we get a fix either officially or unofficially

Sorry missed your post! If you have fastboot tools on your computer, open the folder containing fastboot and SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on an empty space in that window. Click on "Open command window here"
Next make sure your Desire X is on the stock ROM and rebooted into bootloader, and choose fastboot.
Now from that command window type in: fastboot oem lock
That should work

fastboot tool..?? do u mean to say toolkit.?? or jst cmd window.?? i didnt get u.. and my 2nd doubt is i am on custom rom, so if i wish to relock, then i should come back to stock rom isnt it.?? so hw to come back to stock rom..?? what are the steps to come back to stock rom ..?
sry i hv vey little knowledge abt it...thanx alot in advance:angel:

If you download any Boot.img installer from any ROM thread, they'll contain the fastboot program. So if you go to the thread here and go to the bottom of the first post and download the Boot.img Installer, you can extract that ZIP and there should be a folder containing fastboot, adb and other stuff. Now if you open the command window there (SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK) you can do the fastboot oem lock if your phone is in fastboot mode.
If you want to be upgrading to Jelly Bean then you need to go back to your stock ROM for your CID, if you have a nandroid backup you can flash that through your recovery. If you don't you'll have to ask someone politely for their nandroid backup if they have the same CID.
If you manage to restore the correct nandroid backup, make sure you flash the stock ICS boot.img and recovery.img before you lock the bootloader.

i dnt hv any backups...... my CID is HTC_038 , i hv searched forums bt did not find my CID , so should i request for my mentioned CID..??
one more foolish quest-- someone has posted files for mentioned CID for htc ONE x .. can i use that ..??

Using One X files won't work. I can't find any nandroids for your CID either, you're in the same position as I am. There is one user who has the same CID as you but is in the same position, their name is abhi0409, contact them and maybe you can work together to find a nandroid backup. Or you can just wait for Cyanogenmod 10.1 to be released or wait for a custom ROM for JB which ICS users can flash.
EDIT: another guy called hell_lock on this thread has the same CID as you and has a nandroid backup, but is reluctant to post it because it contains private data

Ok, yesterday i received a call from someone at HTC or one of their agents and asked me was my problem about the update sorted.
I said i didnt want to load the 4.1.3 update but wanted to wait for the 4.1.5 which has the sound bugs fixed.
She said yes, they were aware of the problem, but the new update to my country will be available in a few days.
Now a question to the developers, why cant we just upload these updates from the play store, or HTC itself.
Maybe things arent as simple as that.

We can. HTC can put the ruus on web where all can access them. But they don't, and It's a mystery.
They should really start being more generous otherwise there fan base will decrease drastically.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app

Htc generally ignore their customer base in these matters.
It's why many of us won't go back to them again.
I contacted them twice recently, no answer at all. No wonder the other manufacturers are doing much better. Awful pity.

[Q] Fixing my bricked htc incredible s ( vivo ) *Maybe there's still hope for it..*

Hello guys, I'm a noob in xda. I bricked my htc incredible s.. i was hoping to give it for a try to save my phone up by finding solutions here by asking you guys.
So here's my problem:
My htc incredible S was rooted on stock rom for half a year, and when i received OTA update, i was restricted from performing OTA because i had a custom recovery installed on my phone. And so, yeah. I was reckless.
I didn't read properly and know that i cant install any ota updates from htc, but i found a way in order to let my phone to be able to perform OTA updates again, and thats by intalling a ruu. But, due to my phone was a HTC_asia_wwe ver ( which the ruu is very hard to be found) , i searched and browsed almost every forum, but there's none with download links available, so i downloaded a stock rom with PG32IMG.zip and flash it when it gets on bootloader (htc devices will always scan for PG32IMG.zip when we get into bootloader right?) I had all things succeed. When i was trying to reboot into my os, it keeps repeat the boot vibration with the HTC logo on it. ( keeps come out the HTC logo, then turn black awhile, then come out again..keep repeating non stop and i can only turn off my phone by taking off the battery)
I can boot into bootloader but i cant access everything. even when i access recovery , it goes the same too, keep out the logo, reboot, out logo, reboot. And also when i plug in to my PC, it keeps shows up android 1.0 device too and my adb cant find the device serial. I really hope there's some way to fix my phone....I hope I'm posting in the correct section...I'm really needed for help..thanks guys.
It sounds like ur having a bootloop problem which I honestly don't understand y u would have that problem. All I can really tell u is that if I remember correctly is that if u can boot up into ur bootloader then that means ur device is not bricked.
Edit: If u have the stock ruu for ur phone then u can make ur own ruu zip to flash through the bootloader but u will need some software that creates it for u. I remember seeing it somewhere here on the forums. I just don't remember off the top of my head if u need to be s-off to flash through ur bootloader or not.
:-? Hopefully that helps u out a bit.

Since you're s-off, can you not flash a recovery through your bootloader? From there you should be able to either flash a rom or restore your backup if you made one.
I'm hoping that you've learned your lesson and will read more in the future. I can't stress enough the importance of doing your own research and knowing what you're doing before you do so. Since I'm sure you know that now, I'll shut up.

Nope, there's still a bit of a wait on CM10/ASOP for AT&T/TELUS users. When a usable version is ready, it'll probably be here with [AT&T/TELUS] in the title.

So, the experimital CM10.1 is running on your HTC One X+. I have the same phone and I have unlocked it from HTC's web site. I'm a noob and don't know a lot about this stuff. Still learning. Should I try any mod or wait? I really want to get the AT&T crud off of my phone. Like I said, my phone is unlocked now.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
There are several non experimental roms you can install already just to get rid of the at&t stuff. Also you could root it and use titanium backup or root uninstaller or something to just get rid of unneeded stuff. If it were me, I would not DARE try anything experimental with my new phone, especially something cm10 related because pretty much all the devs have said there is nothing ready yet on that avenue.

OK, I'm new here and I really thank you all for any advise. I will read on and try to find some of these existing ROM's. This is probably a REALLY big noob question. If my phone is unlocked, does that mean it is rooted?
BTW, I also thank you for the advise on not using any experimental roms. I won't touch unless I know for sure. This new phone is a gem and I don't want to screw it up.

Unlock is unlock and root is root
Indeed. You have unlocked the bootloader which is step 1. Now you need to root which is step 2. There is an all in one tool in the android development forum you can use to root. That might be the easiest way to go. Once you are rooted you can get root uninstaller for free from the play store or titanium backup. Titanium is probably better choice there. You could also flash a rom through recovery that is already rooted but most of those require you flash the kernel seperatly so if you are.very new i probably wouldnt do that just yet. Read up on the process first. Hope that helps.

Thanks! My problem is this..... I used the HTC step by step from http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
I got through the step where the instructions say to Mark - Right Click Copy - Paste into the HTCDev.com website
I then followed the instructions on through until the phone was unlocked.
At step 39 the instructions say to -
Reboot your phone into Fastboot mode and type the following in command prompt:and
type and execute at the cmd prompt -
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
OK, I finished these steps and am now stuck at step 40.
I then copied the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file to the root of my phone storage
The phone won't boot in to recovery at all
What is the CWN-SuperSU-v.0.87.zip file for and do I need to complete the step by rebooting using it in recovery mode? It will not boot in to recovery anyway.
So my phone was wiped and unlocked but back to the original AT&T build and I don't understand where I pick up in the process.
This is the point where I get confused. I research and read everywhere too. I know my phone is unlocked for sure. It's not bricked yet. :fingers-crossed:

That's great! I'm a dev, well, ROM builder myself too, and I know about that stuff. So if you need any help, I'm here
But I thought the CM problems were because of a non-functioning device tree. Lloir has made one, but every ROM compiled from that doesn't boot.

If you want to root, install a custom rom, custom kernel, custom recovery... yes, you need it unlocked!
It's very simple. Just follow the orders in htcdev.com website and unlock it using nloooo's topic or the "All in one kit".

Sup you are the second samsung guy i know/saw here.(dont bother about the sig is cause I like my warranty).
now big changes from samsung.
Security:
to install custom roms and/or recovery you need an unlocked bootloader(so nice of them).
to install a custom kernel via the same zip as the rom(like we do in samsung) is not possible as they have a security flag that doesnt allow this(its something called S-ON).
also if your device is locked to a network/region the device cannot flash any other regions rom(a little thing called CID).:good:
the stock rom/maybe any other roms /system partition is not writable(there is a module to break this).:good:
More info :
about CID and S-ON the solutions for them are rightly called SUPERCID and S-OFF.:silly:
supercid change the cid value to some constants list like 1111111 or 222222 or 333333(thus making you truly unlocked and able to flash any regions rom).:victory:
S-OFF switches off the s-on security flag and thus allows for the kernel(boot)(and maybe more) partition to be overwritten(i.e r/w).:victory:
there is a method of S-OFF called facepalm that may/should work for all mordern HTC devices(yes that includes desire x:good but needs to be ported (or someone preferably a developer should offer to be a guinea pig for jcase or beansup like jmztaylor was for htc one vx).
for facepalm to work supercid is needed(how to get it same as above i.e needs to be ported or someone preferably a developer should offer to be a guinea pig for jcase or beansup like jmztaylor was for htc one vx):good:
so you are all caught up with the htc awesome(and some ass) ness let the building begin :highfive:

yes in HTC u get it like this.
Bootloader ----(always stays there...... very tough to mess it up)
Recovery -----(Has a separate partition on HTC unlike samsung/sony, where it is part of the kernel)
OS -----(System/data/cache etc etc)
Bootloader/Fastboot lets you flash things(images) onto RECOVERY/SYSTEM/BOOT/DATA partitions.
Dont confuse bootloader with boot.img.
Boot.img is the image which gets flashed onto the boot partition. boot.img contains the kernel and ramdisk.
Recovery.img also contains the kernel and its own ramdisk, so in either case, if u cant boot ur rom, u can always boot to recovery.
Thats it.

your post is correct. But he is interesting in porting cm9/10 and S-ON or S-OFF doesnt matter for that. In either case, there is a way to flash custom rom/kernel etc.... so what we need right now is a device/vendor tree for it.

Wow wow!! HTC is super cautious unlike samsung who let us do anything on phone.
I will study more about all this and get my phone unlocked by some friend.
The only thing that worries me is its dev support. People are dead here.. :silly:

Only some people have HTC Desire X but there are some great people here like ckpv5, MaartenXDA, The Android Manual then nexusPrime and atis112 who made 2 kernels.

How many modes are there for this phone? Example my galaxy had a download(odin) mode and a recovery mode..

Download Mode on Samsung is pretty similar to our bootloader/fastboot because they have similar functions like USB connection to flash recovery or kernels.

Nice info. I was looking for this. I red anywhere that after unlocking bootloader and installing fastboot/recovery, user should lock bootloader again. Is this correct? Why it is important?

[Q] Someone please help me. First time using HTC One

Hey guys,
I don't what happened, but after rooting the HTC One I was attempting to install the Viper ROM, and things just went downhill from there like my phone is stuck at the booting screen, and I can't do anything I have been here trying to figure out what to do. Anyone who knows what to do please tell me ASAP. I can't seem to be able to mount anything, and I tried downloading all kinds off softwares, doesnt seem to work. Please give me step by step instructions. I want to fix this ASAP. Hope my phone isnt bricked
Thanks, XDA
The viper Rom is for the sprint version of the HTC One only, go to the international version and flash a Rom from there, I'm personally using TrickDroid with Faux Kernel

Where would I find that ? And can you please give me steps on how to do it ? I really need to fix this ASAP

its best if you dont know how to use fastboot commands to download the all in one toolkit for your device
I have the all in one toolkit. What do I do with it ? I just want to go back to stock Rom. I know I f'ed up. Give me steps please, or is anyone willing to skype voice call I think I would benefit from that that most

you didnt mess anything up. when you open the toolkit at the bottom there should be a link to stock rom or you can flash any rom you want from there. there will also be instructions to do whatever you need to do down there
---------- Post added at 11:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 AM ----------
to use the all in one toolkit you will have to be in the bootloader in fastboot usb mode. if it say hboot at the top of the bootloader screen press power button once it should then say fastboot usb where hboot was
Just to confirm is this the toolkit we are talking about ? http://gyazo.com/24b0cb52eed94ca74237779c5f8f6eb9 . I regret doing this omg Why did I try to do this.
yup. where it says something about stock ruu zip thats the stock rom but it may be more difficult to flash that. easiest way would be to flash a custom rom or a stock rooted rom zip file
you shouldnt regret doing it. thats the beauty of android options customizations. its not hard just read before you flash
Ok, now I need to find that ROM, Im on Rogers network meaning I would gave to use the international one right ? and I cant find that. I clicked on flash stock and now its going to this black screen which says HTC in silver.
just stay away from sprint roms you can flash any other htc rom. international htc one thread has the most options though and sense based roms will give options for you carrier you just select tmo at&t or international in aroma. if you decide to go that way make sure to read the rom thread as aroma often freezes but there are things you can do to minimize them.

Firmware update 1.53.502.11

http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-desire-610-att/news/
Here is an update I found .it's Still android 4.4.2. All that I know is it says bug fixes on the provided link for download . I flashed the firmware through fastboot just now . Works fine ,I don't notice any difference from the stock firmware other than the software numbers being different. There are two variants for download . One for pre paid and one for post paid. I have a contract so I used post paid.
I just wanted to post this for all to dig into and also because through hitting check for updates on my phone ,this update did not show up .I found it manually online .
I've developed some roms in the past for the atrix 2 . I am quite possibly going to be diving in once again as its been a year since I stopped for the a2 and currently this phone needs some development going on .

this update just att phone??
I'm waiting for 5.0 from HTC, but I'm curious if the update will fix a problem with the display. 610 needs devs
I'd really appreciate some confirmation on this. I started the ruu tool and saw it will wipe internal data (prior to reading that I didn't think an update would erase data) Not a big deal. I stopped it and made a backup.
But then I stopped to consider if there are any more surprises.
The 2 step guide right in Google search results does not mention needing adb environment. But other places say you need android sdk tools installed. This is an issue because I don't own a pc. I have everything I need on my Mac but of course I cant run exe files.
Do I need an adb environment for this to work? I can borrow a pc but would prefer to not put too much stuff on it because it's not mine. Just running one program one time--not a huge bother.
Also are there any other things I should be aware of before continuing? With other devices I'm not nearly as cautious but this is my main phone. Thanks.
Sorry to keep coming back but I did a clean install of Windows just for this update. The pc I had really needed maintenance. Still not certain it's necessary but I've got the adb environment set up and working. I just have a few questions...
1. Reading older posts, it says the ruu will relock boot loader and bring me to stock, is this true?
--in case it wasn't assumed, I AM rooted with jmz kernel, unlocked and twrp
2. This WILL lock and unroot my phone automatically, correct? I don't have to do it before?
3. If the answer to the above is yes, I will need to unlock it and root again?
4. Once this is done, can I flash my backup with twrp? Of course that assumes it will be wiped.
Sorry again for what's most likely annoying questions. This is my only phone and bricking it would be bad, worse than other devices that are just for entertainment. I VERY tempted tojust plug in my phone and run ruu but I really want to know exactly what will happen.
For all the threads here I'm surprised this isn't being talked about.

***ok. I finally read the return to stock section and it also is done with ruu. And you do need relock boot loader. Of course this means it will wipe my data.
Sorry. I've read that post before but skipped right over that section. I thought there might be a better way.
TWRP must be essential to flash the kernel but otherwise it really complicates the update process. Without it I could just unroot with Supersu or other tool, take the ota then reroot.
I wonder what differences are in the ROM for pre-paid and contract customers?
Naturally this thread is in relation to the AT&T supplied phones for an RUU with 1.53.502.11 / 1.53.502.12 ( 1.53.502.12 for pre-paid devices)
On HTCdev the main version for the WWE phone is currently only 1.31.401.2, with the Australia (Telstra) as 1.31.841.3.
I have the Australian Telstra supplied HTC Desire 610 (Navy Blue) and it is running 1.31.841.3 with Kernel version 3.4.0-g29bee57 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Does anyone know of an RUU for the WWE ROM? or know if the AT&T 1.53.502.XX kernel version is 3.4.0 or 3.4.10 or other?

And if its not too much trouble would u try to summarize how you got the update? Did you just relock bootloader, factory reset via HTC menu and take a normal ota? Then unlock it and root again?
Ive rooted and flash ROMs on a few devices already but am surprisingly still confused about this. This phone's gotten so little attention there just isn't much out there to learn from.
Not to mention it'll be a bit time consuming since the PC I used to root this has since died so I'll need a new token. That's where the ruu adds another layer of confusion--as far as I know it doesn't automate the unlock so where's the benefit there? Once you're unlocked, running root tool is easy ...and if you have to unlock and unroot anyway--at that point wouldn't just allowing the ota be easier?
You see. I've got lots of questions. Any help would be much appreciated. Running same firmware 6 months now.
More recent Firmware?
Anyone have an RUU for a more recent firmware? I actually flashed an older version than this (the one in the return to stock thread) thinking it was the latest.
I left it on there for I think around 24 hours, waiting for an ota update before rooting but it never happened so I thought it was already the latest version.
