[APK] Facebook Home beta leak - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

A pre-release version of Facebook Home has leaked ahead of the planned 12th April Play Store release date (also the release date for the HTC First 'Facebook phone').
The build itself (pulled from a pre-release HTC First ROM) seems to be rather buggy and incomplete (I can't get 'Chat Heads' working for example), but it's interesting to have a play with to see what Facebook has in store for us later this week.
In order to use the leak, you need an Android device with a maximum resolution of 1280x768 and the ability to completely uninstall your existing Facebook app. This is important, as the leaked APKs are re-signed and can't just be installed over the top of an existing installation. This will automatically exclude some devices which have Facebook installed in the base ROM. If you're on a Nexus device you're good! Even if you do have Facebook in ROM, provided you are rooted there are workarounds - i'll detail these in the comments. If you have any problems installing post below and i'll help if I can.
The leak itself is 3 APKs - the main 'katana' Facebook app: DOWNLOAD (ROMraid), the now-integrated-with-your-SMS 'orca' Messenger app: DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) (orca) and the 'home' Launcher shell app: DOWNLOAD (ROMraid). Simply install all 3 and you're set - bear in mind you do so at your own risk!

Seems like it's Facebook. They will fix it on 12th of April

I don't like the stile at all... I mean, It's not very usable, maybe for FB fanatics, but, for me is just silly

will try this

Has this started working again today?
EDIT: this katana apk won't log in
The home apk won't do anything if you use any other katana apk.
If anyone gets a better setup, I'd love to try it! Facebook Home doesn't list as available to download from Play Store for me (ICS 4.0.3)

Can someone tell me how to un-install the beta version? I now can't install the real version of Facebook Home - it treats the attempted install as an update and I can't figure out how to install. Thanks.

He is right, it is for IceCreamSandwich only.
If it is for a other version then you can call it a virus/malware.
If it is for a version other than ICS and up then you can find it in the playstore.
Either the guy who created this thread is fooled by someone or he knows that this is not chrome but a piece of malware instead.
I assume the first option (i trust people very easily) but i am just human so i can be wrong.
Google says that it can not build it for below ICS but their arguments dont make sense so maybe everyone can help by telling google that they want google chrome.
Google will then reply that it will npt be the same as chrome for ICS but you can say that you just want it to be as similar as possible.
Locked.
KIDDING!
Hi all, I have a problem with Chrome. I'm using galaxy s5 and whenever I open the browser for the first time I get the message: Unable to access the network, but once I refresh the page it loads everything as it should. How do I fix it without having to constantly keep chrome in the RAM. Thanks

[SHARE] Make Stock Based ROMs Run Faster

Hello everyone.
I am using Sony Xperia U. I love the Sony UI much more than CyanogenMod because it is more stable and beautiful but it lags after I have installed a few apps that are resource hungry. This is one reason why I switched back to Gingerbread on my phone (view more reasons). But then I realized there are many apps on the Play Store that require Android 3.0+. I was left behind in the race. So again, I installed a stock based ICS custom ROM. As usual, it started lagging again.
Why does the phone lag? Because there are a lot of apps running in the background and eat up a lot of space. You can not run more than 2-3 apps in the background using Xperia U. So I came across this beautiful app called Greenify which is pretty awesome and does its job just as it says.
After I installed this app, I could see tremendous improvement in performance of the ROM. Greenify hibernates the apps that run in the background when you are not using them. A few examples of the apps I Greenified:
Make sure all these apps are user apps. If they are system apps, either convert them to user apps or uninstall using Titanium Backup and install from Play Store.
Facebook (I don't want any notifications).
Whatsapp
Dolphin Browser
Super Backup
Facebook Messenger
Viber
Tango
Google Maps
Google+
There might be a few more I don't remember. You can ungreenify Whatsapp or Viber when you are using them.

Greenify does not consume much battery and takes only 2 MB of your RAM.
Download From Play Store | Read my review of the app
Please don't tell me you already knew about this app. I am just sharing what is useful. Instead you can add up something I might have missed.
If you didn't know about this app, please press Thanks button.
Stock roms are also bloated. There are debloating scripts out there on the development section.
Debloat + Greenify = Fast ROM.

No. If you want to use it, you can just start the app and it will un-hibernate itself. You can open Greenify and ungreenify apps if you don't want them to be greenified and if you want them to run in background as they normally do.
It is similar to hibernating your PC when you are not using it. It saves battery to a great extent by hibernating the apps.
Yes it really a nice apps

i have HATED gmail look, feel, UI, EVERYTHING for years, but needed one for android. i use K-9 and have it set up with 4 other email accounts. Hotmail and Gmail SUCK for ease of use; i wish there was a version of Windows Live Mail for Android; i use that at work and home, and have K-9 set up to 'clone' it, but windows live mail is like outlook used to be, just more streamlined.

I renamed the file to "Gmail2.apk" (not sure if that's necessary), wiped data from the existing Gmail app in app settings and then pushed the file to /system/app (replacing the original Gmail2.apk).
Rebooted, and now working great for me.

Thank you.....i figured that but had to ask.....
I downloaded/installed it from the article and uninstalled it.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ith-slide-out-navigation-and-brand-new-inbox/
I even disconnected it from the market with TBU so it won't upgrade.
Why? They exchanged asthetics for functionality. ..
They moved the delete button off the top/bottom bar. You now have to tap the menu button to get to it.
Archive button is still there, why?
You also have to long press each email now to select it instead of the old quick tap check box.
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Edit: I found this in the article comments...
" You should put in a note that going to Settings > General Settings > Archive & delete actions and selecting "Show archive & delete" will move the "Delete" function from the drop menu to the action bar, thus moving "Move to" to the drop menu."
Is there a way to put a specific image for each email that is not on our list? For example, I get a lot of emails from amazon and I see a big box with the letter A. I want to put Amazon's logo instead.
