[MOD][APP][MDPI/HDPI] Two different CWM Recoveries and root access apps flashable - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Requirement:- (1) Must be a rooted device and CWM recovery should be preinstalled. (2) Must be a 2011 family xperia device.
As we all know that on locked bootloader
or stock kernel whenever we install a new
custom rom through CWM Recovery
generally our Recovery gets wiped and we
have to install recovery again. So
basically this mod will helpful to those
who have locked bootloader or stock
kernel and often changes their roms like
me, whereas on unlocked bootloaders we
generally uses custom kernels which have
built in recovery so it is not so useful for
them. On locked bootloader or stock
kernel the most simplest way to install
recovery is by using XParts app (Thanks
to pvyparts). Using this app is not a
complicated process but it is quite lengthy
process because first you have to
download and install XParts app then it
will download recovery for your handset.
Also this all can't be happened without a
internet connection and sometimes we
don't have a internet connection, so we
have to wait for working internet
connection so that we can install
recovery. One more thing sometimes we
got bootloop after installing a new rom,
then only way to overcome from this
problem is flashing official Sony firmware
through flashtool using laptop or
computer, after that we have to again root
and install recovery on our device. All this
process is also quite lengthy and we can
say to some extent it is complicated also.
And sometimes we don't have all
necessary things like laptop, computer,
flashtool etc.
Therefore to overcome all these problems
I have made two different CWM
Recoveries as a flashable zip. Now
whenever you install a new rom through
CWM Recovery just after flashing the rom
don't reboot, come back in recovery flash
one of the recovery file which one you like.
After flashing the file you have CWM
Recovery and you don't need to install it.
Now if you got a bootloop after installing
a new rom then you can easily get into
recovery and restore your nandroid
backup. No need of computer laptop etc.
Here I have attached two different
recovery files. The first one is CWM
Recovery by pvyparts and second one is
CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2 by nobodyAtall.
To get access in CWM Recovery by pvyparts just press volume down key rapidly when blue
notification light blinks on Sony logo. This
key combination may be different for
different devices, for example on my
Xperia mini (on ICS) the right key is
power key whereas for Xperia neo V (on
ICS) just hold the touchscreen when blue
notification light blinks. Whereas on
second one you can get into recovery by
pressing volume down key when Sony
logo blinks or gets brighter. Here I have
also attached XParts app as a flashable
zip, so that if you don't know your right
key combination to get into recovery then
you can use this app to get into recovery,
just flash it in recovery, with CWM
Recovery flashable zip. Successfuly tested
it with Smart Xperia Rom, Revolution ICS
HD, Viper Xperia and Zelly cream.
[ Note:- If u have rooted device but don't
have recovery then you can install it
manually by using root explorer just
extract the files from zip and put them in
their respective folders with permission
( rwx r-x r-x) to all files.]
And in last a very special thanks to
pvyparts for his such a beautiful XParts
app and recovery for our 2011 Xperia devices and to nobodyAtall for his recovery too.
Instruction for installing:-
(1) Download the files and put them on sd
card.
(2) Now whenever you flash a new
custom rom through recovery just after
flashing the rom do not reboot, just go
back in recovery and flash one of the
flashable recovery file which you like the
most and enjoy.
[Now two different flashable superuser apps are also included in this thread which can be flashed through cwm recovery, in case you have cwm recovery but no root access.]
Press thanks if you think this post is
useful to you.

Try the recovery by pvyparts but as I have mentioned above in discription that the key combination to get into recovery by pvyparts may be different for different handsets so it may also different for your handset. You can try power key or vol. down key etc. to get into recovery. Good luck

thats strange because on my friend's mini pro this recovery works well with kernel panic. Now tell me after flashing the recovery by pvyparts have you noticed any blue notification light blinks for some time during the booting process of your phone means when sony logo appears and gets brighter ?
Also it will not change your built in kernel recovery but instead of using that you can use this.

No I can't because android kernels are based on linux and I have very little knowledge of linux but I can provide you some useful links that can help you to change the recovery of your kernel. I will provide links in one or two days.

wt19i does not have a built in recovery like the samsung phones.
you have to install it.
if you have root already, then proceed to this thread and follow instructions.

You can't install cyanogenmod before you have unlocked your bootloader. You can unlock by official sony method for developers (look in my signature for a guide) or by testpoint method. Otherwise you can't install a rom for unlocked bootloader because you aren't able to flash a kernel boot.img.
When your bootloader is unlocked, in most custom kernels cwm is integrated
Don't try to flash a rom for unlocked bootloader on a locked bootloader, otherwise your device will brick and you will have to flash the original firmware with flashtool!
Ah btw to install cwm on ics you must have rooted ics (you can't root ics like gingerbread firmware .42, you will have to do it like this) and then you can download the x-parts app from playstore which can automaticly install cwm
I rooted device and have X-Parts.
Installed Recovery 5.5.0.4 by pvyParts.
I am able to restart in recovery mode.
Do I understand it right?
Even if I have recovery installed I won't be able to install CM or other ROM with locked bootloader?

You can install roms especially made for locked bootloader, like ics based "real ics lite" or "MiniCMSandwich". There are some MIUI rom's around here, too, but stock rom is the smoothest

[Q] Volume down button not working for CWM entry but works normally

Hi Folks,
I have a stock .587 firmware with locked BL.
I have done some tweaks on it listed below:
- New adreno libs.
- Walkman port V6 by ThilinaC
- removed bloatwares manually and freezed some others.
- JB SystemUI changes by ThilinaC
- adrenaline boost, etc.
I was learning on decompiling and recompiling the apk's. So I picked up the simplest one. i.e. enabling on screen buttons in framework-res.apk.
I made change into in one of the xml and I successfully rebuilt the apk. and flashed it using root explorer. But it gave bootloops.
I tried starting CWM recovery using volume down button at the Sony logo as usual. But it didnt start. I tried so many things like connecting to USB and restarting the phone at that time to start recovery by same pressing volume down button method.
But it didnt work still.
Since I was not able to go into recovery, and since my nand backup was some days old and had some data which was needed.
I flashed only system partition from the .587 ftf. using flashtool and rooted the phone again using normal procedure.
I thought the volume down button will work for recovery but it is still not working. (The button works normally when phone is on i.e for volume down process.)
Please help me what can be done.
P.S.: As of now I can go into recovery using x-parts or any other tool like titanium. But only manual recovery entry is not working.
So it means, I wont be able to go into recovery if I get bootloops again. And I am afraid to change/port anything on my phone now.

back button also didnt work.. Thanks for your reply anyways....
To add to my point....when I repeatedly press volume down/back button, the LED turns blue,,,but as per my observation, previously it used to stay till recovery starts, but now it turns on for 4-5 seconds and then goes off, and then the Experia bootanim shows up.
Is it like the exploit which activates recovery at boot time is damaged?(just a guess)..If maybe yes..how can I solve it?
Try to install recovery again via flashtool.

I had tried every button.. Didnt think of screen though...
Initially, I had installed CWM thru DoomLoRD's rooting toolkit. Then I had installed x-parts by pvyParts. There it said a new CWM version was available(v5.5). So I had upgraded that.

There is one version floating around which is using tapping on screen to enter in recovery, so since for you, back and volume- didn't work. Tap on screen was only option left, having in mind that you said that you can enter recovery using xparts, meaning that your recovery is installed ok.
p.s. I doubt you used doomlord's root toolkit to install CWM

[Q] Live With Walkman and Cyanogenmod 9

Hello there!
This question might have appeared alot but I'll try to be as short and accurate as possible on the following:
About two weeks ago, I decided to root my Sony Live With Walkman (4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich) and now I'm thinking of installing Cyanogenmod 9 stable release. But I'll leave this mod for the last part and let us focus on the rooting process I've done.
I've used the following tutorial: talk.sonymobileDOTcom/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
At first, I was unsuccesful but in the second try I had managed to root my device (Unlocked bootloader).
Being a bit tired over the official Sony ICS, I thought of putting Cyanogen to my device. This is where the things get confusing for me:
I've spotted multiple tutorials and each one is different and unclear to me. These two are the ones I'm thinking of as the most reliable sources:
- wiki.cyanogenmodDOTorg/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Live_with_Walkman:_Full_Update_Guide
- technologic101.wordpressDOTcom/2012/03/12/tutorial-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-9-0-ics-on-your-se-xperia-2011-device/
So, I have Cyanogen9 coconut, drivers, fastboot, google apps and proper FTF file downloaded.
But what now? Which tutorial is better and accurate for my state of device? Am I risking a brick by doing this? What are the current downsides of Cyanogenmod9 for this device?
Please, write your opinions, explain or link me to the proper guides for my case. I am grateful for any kind of information you give me!
Thanks!

Is kernel the TFT file or the Cyanogenmod zip file (about 125MB)? And how do I flash this with Flashtool?
Boot.img inside the zip is the kernel. Extract and flash that file using fastboot. After flashing the kernel, start your phone and enter recovery. From recovery flash the zip files
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
Okay then you have done have of the work.
Now backup all your contacts, apps, sms's etc. Then power off your device and boot into fastboot mode. Then take the kernel from the CM9 zip and flash it. After that start your phone and just when the logo gets brighter press the volume down button with which you will boot into the CWM recovery. After that navigate to backup and restore and backup your rom. Then do a wipe data/factory reset ,then wipe chache and after that go to advanced and then wipe the Dalvik Cache. After that go to install zip from sd card and then choose from sd card. then navigate to your rom and flash it. After the flashing is done flash gapps and then reboot.
Note: To navigate in CWM use your volume keys and use the home button to select.
To enter Fastboot: Plug the usb cable side into the phone and while you are plugging it into the computer keep
your volume up key pressed.
To flash a kernel: Put the kernel you extracted from the zip into your fastboot folder. Then open a command
prompt in that particular directory ( in Windows 7 press shift in a blank place and right click).
Then enter this command fastboot flash boot boot.img(Your phone must be in fastboot
mode for this.)
In my signature, there's a guide how to install a custom rom/custom kernels, maybe this could help you!
I would use the cyanogenmod full update guide :good:
You don't need any ftf, you flash a custom rom with clockworkmod (cwm), but this should be explained in the guide

It depends. If you wanna flash any CM or AOKP roms you have to flash thier respective kernels. If you want to flash any stock based roms you can flash any ICS or GB kernel you want like Mesa, Panic kernel etc.
As for how to flash a kernel refer to my post on the page before.

No. For entering the CWMR you have to press the volune down button when the bootup logo gets brighter. For this either you must have CWMR install or else you must have a custom kernel

That didn't work. When the Sony logo gets brighter, a blue LED lights up for that moment.
In cwm, selecting 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' opens up a box where my phone model is displayed. After that, it says it's unsupported and I can manually select either 2.x or 3.x+. I've selected the 3.x+ one and in the menu it says 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X
Shall I try with 2.x? I have no clue here.

[MOD][APP][MDPI/HDPI] Twodifferent CWM Recoveries and root access apps flashable

Requirement:- (1) Must be a rooted device and CWM recovery should be preinstalled. (2) Must be a 2011 Xperia family device.
As we all know that on locked bootloader or stock kernel whenever we install a new custom rom through CWM Recovery generally our Recovery gets wiped and we have to install recovery again. So basically this mod will helpful to those who have locked bootloader or stock kernel and often changes their roms like me, whereas on unlocked bootloaders we generally uses custom kernels which have built in recovery so it is not so useful for them. On locked bootloader or stock kernel the most simplest way to install recovery is by using XParts app (Thanks to pvyparts). Using this app is not a complicated process but it is quite lengthy process because first you have to download and install XParts app then it will download recovery for your handset. Also this all can't be happened without a internet connection and sometimes we don't have a internet connection, so we have to wait for working internet connection so that we can install recovery. One more thing sometimes we got bootloop after installing a new rom, then only way to overcome from this problem is flashing official Sony firmware through flashtool using laptop or computer, after that we have to again root and install recovery on our device. All this process is also quite lengthy and we can say to some extent it is complicated also. And sometimes we don't have all necessary things like laptop, computer, flashtool etc.
Therefore to overcome all these problems I have made two different CWM Recoveries as a flashable zip. Now whenever you install a new rom through CWM Recovery just after flashing the rom don't reboot, come back in recovery flash one of the recovery file which one you like. After flashing the file you have CWM Recovery and you don't need to install it. Now if you got a bootloop after installing a new rom then you can easily get into recovery and restore your nandroid backup. No need of computer laptop etc.
Here I have attached two different recovery files. The first one is CWM Recovery by pvyparts and second one is CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 nAa-r2 by nobodyAtall. To get access in CWM Recovery by pvyparts just press volume down key rapidly when blue notification light blinks on Sony logo. This key combination may be different for different devices, for example on my Xperia mini (on ICS) the right key is power key whereas for Xperia neo V (on ICS) just hold the touchscreen when blue notification light blinks. Whereas on second one you can get into recovery by pressing volume down key when Sony logo blinks or gets brighter. Here I have also attached XParts app as a flashable zip, so that if you don't know your right key combination to get into recovery then you can use this app to get into recovery, just flash it in recovery, with CWM Recovery flashable zip. Successfuly tested it with Smart Xperia Rom, Revolution ICS HD, Viper Xperia and Zelly cream.
[ Note:- If u have rooted device but don't have recovery then you can install it manually by using root explorer just extract the files from zip and put them in their respective folders with permission( rwx r-x r-x).]
And in last a very special thanks to
pvyparts for his such a beautiful XParts
app and recovery for our 2011 Xperia
devices and to nobodyAtall for his
recovery too.
Instruction for installing:-
(1) Download the files and put them on sd card.
(2) Now whenever you flash a new custom rom through recovery just after flashing the rom do not reboot, just go back in recovery and flash one of the flashable recovery file which you like the most and enjoy.
[Now two different flashable superuser
apps are also included in this thread
which can be flashed through cwm
recovery, in case you have cwm recovery
but no root access.]

Wow seem like this will actually meets my need. I have one question though? When I installed viper rom before, I got stuck at sony logo several times (you know when the logo just stuck there and not appear and disappear again), at that time of course I couldn't enter recovery. The other time when I got bootloop, where sony logo will appear and dissapear, I could get to the recovery so If I use this can I enter recovery when I got stuck at boot (not bootloop).:silly:

If you stuck there where sony logo just appears then you can't get into recovery but if you got bootloop after the sony logo appears and dissapears then you can get into recovery. By the way use latest version of Viper xperia with proper installation instruction because I have also faced this problem with Viper xperia but in latest version like 4.5, 5.0 it has been gone.
Thanks!

Why doesn't the XParts app from Play Store/yours work whereas if I use Xperia Auto CWM installer (older version by pvyparts) it will work?

hi fenzo3, well I can't say the older version of pvyparts app will work or not but u can easily get into the cwm recovery in neo v without the help of this app, just hold the touchscreen of your phone when blue notification light blinks during the booting process of your phone.
Complicate but thanks your work

Umm on Existenz 1.0.0 this doesn't work and stays stuck on Sony Logo then after sometime goes back to rebooting normally?
Please help guys I want to flash 1.37 OTA update
After installing the experinz ROM you need to flash the NUT rebootmod that was posted in the op of rom.
I had issues with this 2nd time around. Try installing busy box then install into system then flash again even (after 2-3 try it should stick)

That's probably because your ROM doesn't have a recovery installed. Just reinstall a recovery

Solved : Deamon not running error in Xperia SP
some one got an error like "deamon not running" error for xperia sp, especially in 64 bit computers. I found one solution
just download the attachment from my post and follow the steps
1. Extract the file to adb folder in CWM 6.0.3.0 For Locked Bootloader ( replace the old adb file )
2. click install.bat
note: I'm not modifying any of your work. this is the latest adb file works with 64bit computers also. I dnt know any one else found it or need it. its works for me.....
Thanks
It Never Worked for me!
