How to disable ad blocker for foxhound rom - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
This is my first post for xda.
I would like to ask a question, how can I disable the built in ad blocker (script I think) for the foxhound rom. I'm having difficulty accessig some websites because of this. To be more specific ad.fly
I'm using foxhound version 2.4 for the galaxy s3.
I've tried flashing the stock hosts that came with the rom.
Thanks and have a good day.

Not sure if it'll work but you can try using a third party ad blocker such as adaway and override the host file. You can white list ad.fly to resolve your issue.

Thanks for the help, but it still doesn't work. Every time I restart the device it still reverts the hosts file to its modded hosts and doesn't save the settings that I have made in adaway.

remove the modded hosts file from /etc/hosts and replace it by unmodified hosts file from any rom in which it is not modded

There is no folder existed in my etc folder. I think it's hidden because when i tried to make a new folder and tried to name it hosts. The file manager tells me that the folder already existed.

I checked the system folder in the stock rom and yays update folder. Neither had a launcher apk. It might be renamed somethin else by moto but i have no clue which file it is.

If it's a system application then you can find it if your device is rooted ..

Edward Cullen, no offense but that was a n00b statement. If he installed it by himself it cannot be a system application. Also, the file of any app (even user app) is available in /data/app
AND, rooted or not, the app Explorer by Speed Software allows you access to those system files. Only difference is that you cannot write, but you can find the file and COPY (not move) to /sdcard.

Yeah it needs

settings

Is it possible to make a flammable zip to incorporate settings options from one Rom to another?

Flashable
Autocorrect strikes again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
No. That would cause nothing but issues that you would not like.
There use to be a build prop script file that tweaks certain background processes. But can't remember the name.

Thanks for the response
I am running windows could any one point me to a program or programs that would help me accomplish adding in the extra settings id like to add not replace if that helps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The problem with this goal (I wish you could do it) is the files that settings are stored in vary from rom to rom. So copying a file for example named phone_settings.xml that contains all your preferences and making a flashable package of all those xml files, then flashing that set of files in another rom where the file might be called phone_preferences.xml, the flash would fail. So unless every rom uses the exact same names this cannot be done.
What I was meaning with the second question is there a way to do it other than a flashable zip
Id like to have it like jelly bam is with the settings from other roms combined in one
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
As I explained, unless every file with your preferences would have to have the same files in the new rom. They usually don't. Its a good idea, it just can't happen.
Ok I thought you were talking about a zip not doing a complete build
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Thanks I guess I'm just stuck hoping the dev will see fit to add those features in the future
Still would like to learn more and start doing a little cooking of my own

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
No, it's a mod, but it has an inbuilt adblocker
A custom rom with a built in adblocker or hosts file ????

Maybe the ad has flash element which is why you're not able to view it.

New SecPhone App withe auto call recording for DN3 (Ditto Note 3) v3.2

Hello guys,
This is Sec Phone with auto call recording for Note 2 "DN3 (Ditto Note 3) v3.2"
Download attachment and extract it to your sd card.
Don't install it.
Go to root explore Device/system/app/SecPhone.apk and rename it to SecPhone.apk.bak
Now copy your extracted file "SecPhone.apk" and "acrs.apk"
Paste this file to Device/system/app with write permission.
Reboot phone and enjoy.
Thank you
Mod Edit: Links removed
Download successful
But when I extract secphone.part1.rar it extracts till 14.something mb and than says "java exception" like some error but the extracted file is of 24.* mb should I proceed ignoring such error I have downloaded both files 2 times succesfully still same error

Download and Extract is error-free, haven't installed the apk's yet though. Those who have errors, try redownloading - I remember reading about problems with downloading from XDA. Try different browser instead of tapatalk (if you are using it).

I think you are not satisfy what you have! You have always complaining!!
Some thing is better then nothing.
It is way better to use Xposed Framework for call recording option.

Using others work without permissions and credit is frowned upon at XDA.
