Choose the device from which porting roms to our device is easier. I'm thinking, preparing ( or trying) to port famous viper rom by team venom to our device! I'm a beginner, I'm not sure if I can do it or not.

Ok, looked at rom its 464mb. As it is a hdpi device. I have to resize everything I guess! I have to look for tutorials to resize as I'm a noob. I have been through many porting guides and I'm learning java too! I have two entrance coming in end of this month till starting of next month! So, you guys must be patient! Venom team doesn't allow porting of roms directly, you have approach them and submit your build with no bugs or least bugs, then they will approve your build and you will be official maintainer for that particular device! Those who can help me please post here or pm me! Please DON'T thank me cuz I'm not sure I can do it! So, just wait and if you can help me!

I have installed ubuntu 12.04 using wubi ( installer ) is it ok for developing or I should have a dedicated partition? I have used ubuntu many times but I have doubts!

A dedicated partition would be ideal. Wubi creates only up to 30gb Ubuntu installs I believe and that is not much

Do we have a working sense ICS 3.0 kernel? I doubt it
Viper ROM is really laggy on my desire z too
You need atleast 768 mb of ram for sense 3.x+ to run well

I'm waiting for their reply for three days! They don't care!! I'm pissed off!

Desire C has 600mhz processor with 512ram and it runs sense 4.0 on ics
I think you need to have higher random read/write speeds for using swap. But these speeds are very less for class 10 cards.

Desire C has Sense 4.0A instead of Sense 4.1(which is viper), which makes a huge difference.
It also has an enhanced Adreno 200, which is much more powerful than the normal adreno 200
Where are you going to get a sense 3.0 kernel? Or HTC drivers
my :tank: has blown your house up
My best tip is to port from the nexus one, and port acra's sense 4.0A

I can see that the phone is gaining popularity and hope that there soon will be someting like Sense interface for it. My wife wanted a phone with Sense interface but I said it is better to but Galaxy Ace than Wildfire and I promised that I will upload a custom rom with HTC Sense so now I am waiting for one. Hello everyone, sorry to resurrect such an old thread.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace has almost the same hardware as the HTC Salsa (MSM7227T, Adreno 205, 512MB RAM and ROM). Has anyone tried porting the Salsa ROM to the Galaxy Ace?

To my knowledge, the Galaxy Ace has 512MB of RAM too, but only ~300MB usable. I assume that the Salsa will have less than 512MB of usable RAM too, since some RAM has to be allocated to the kernel/display driver etc.
Adreno 200 and 205 seem rather similar by name (the number increases by 5). Are these two GPUs radically different?
If they are, why not the Wildfire S? MSM7227 (non-Turbo), Adreno 200 GPU.
X8 already ported salsa's sense
There are only a handful of devs that work on SGA and I doubt very much that porting the Sense UI is at the top of their list of things to do. One of the first things I found out upon joining XDA...

Its not work in this way
Even porting stock rom is much difficult task
Even devs that tried to port not succesfully ported. They phased bugs like 3g not work, camera and fm not work and in some cases calling not works
But give it try if want but dont brick your phone
If you want sense sooooo much get cm7 then get the ntsense theme then get LP sense launcher then widgetlocker

it is old work now no one works on MIUI
Well i'm back... finally finished my exams and got some time for myself.
But i have a bit of bad news. I've been studying android and how it's build and how it works and i'm afraid this might be an impossible port to make for now. I've looked into the Galaxy 3 port and it's not an actual port. It's just the framework. So it is possible to port apps from the rom but they might not work fully because of incompatible libs.
Now about the libs, they are compiled specifically for a type of processor (in miui case armv7) which have some instructions built in. While armv7 may run armv6 libs it's not possible the other way around. So even if we got the phone to boot, and got the launcher and a few miui apps running it wouldn't be miui.
I see that SWEATTAIMI is still working to complete the port of the framework and i wish him the best of luck but i will have to step down since i am working on other android projects that are more likely to come to an end than this.

[Q] ICS or CM9 Port? LG Ally?

is there any developer that is willing to port ICS or CM9 to the LG Ally? i would much appreciate it, this phone is becoming dead and i want it to keep it alive. the AndroidForums site are doing there best to keep development, i think someone should make a Ally thread Thanks for any support or Developers that want to develop.
Thats a pretty old phone and I highly doubt you'll ever see an ICS port. Even if you did it would run pretty poorly on those specs (600mhz processor and 256MB of RAM). You may be able to find CM7 for your phone which would actually be usable.

There are actually lot of roms running ICS with much less than 512MB of ram and Cyanogen has been quoted to say that you need 256MB, not 512. My Fascinate, which has 384MB of useable ram and is running the newest version of AOKP, runs better than my brother's stock Galaxy Nexus which of course has 1GB. It's just not as simple as saying it doesn't have enough ram.
The problem with the Ally is that it does not have a gpu good enough for any sort of hardware acceleration.
PSA: you are all wrong
The Lg vortex shares the same processor as the ally and the optimus v, both phones run cm9 perfectly smooth, my sister is getting a ally within the next week, i will work on an ics port

Depends on what part you want to theme. Status bar icons would be relatively easy but if talking about sense widgets that's hard to do because sense launcher ie Rosie uses something called m10 files which are very difficult to work with and on sense 4.0 there is only one team that I'm aware of that has accomplished it. But a number of other launchers have sense themes just search sense in the play store.
And just for the record to the others talking about sense. 4.1 is nothing like the older versions far lighter and less intrusive. I've been on miui v4 cm9 cm10 and I keep going back to sense based roms.

I've a fd using HTC Sensation XE n he he installed more apps n widgets than me, but his phone still extremely smooth n fast, both my Xperia S n his Sensation XE r running on stock ICS 4.0.4 n both phone using the exact same chipset, CPU n GPU, his phone only got 768MB RAM rather than 1024MB on mine, his phone used to hv 160MB RAM free n my phone used to hv 200MB RAM free.
So theoretically my phone should be faster n smoother.

How to get better perfomance ?

Hi all.
I wanted to ask You, how to raise overall performance of our phone?
Or which rom has the best smooth/speed/fps in games?

Why this question mate, i am very satisfied with the performance of the phone, i come from Sony Xperia Sola and trust me - you dont know what is bad performance and lag...
Im asking, because Im pretty sure that each rom has a different performance. For example, ROM with lots of stuff has lower performance for sure.
I did benchmark, now i have mysensedx jb with full sense and I get less score than when I had nonsense revolution.
So, can someone tell me, on what ROM u have expirienced the best performance ?
You should better wait for CyanogenMod 10.1, which will be ported to Desire X after we get our 3.4 Kernel. After that, I will think about rooting my phone and use it.

Good luck with that! I really do hope for it to be released very soon. :fingers-crossed:
I would really love to see CM 10.1 working for our device.
