these files is for make a signed zip file, not just a simple update.zip.
I upload for someone who knows how to great a real udate.zip.
the way is not just extract/add an .apk/add to.....with winrar and thats it, thats why i ask for help from a Dev here.
I dont have the knowledge to great it...........ckpv5 have but his in vacation......i'm read, read, read about.
I spent all the weekend with these damn backup.
The truth is that I will be wiser after this

Did you flash the .odex file too? I mean did you put it in the zip along with the .app file?
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app

Also, you have to use 7-zip in Windows to add the files to the zip, otherwise it wouldn't work...

Tried it too, didn't work
Got the same error...
Sent from my HTC Desire X using xda app-developers app

The error you are getting is a sha1sum mismatch. So maybe the odex file provided is corrupt. Or try to redownload.

So what does S-Off exactly offers? Could it be possible in our case to update to JB without 7digital if we had S-Off in our phones???

yes it would give the possibility to do that cause you wouldnt need a t-mob101 stock nand backup... you could use whatever backup you want..
maybe you could install a jb backup .. not sure though

[SYSTEM] ATT Galaxy Note Root

This one is difference than Da_G one. Da_G one is perm root but it will increase flash counter. This one flash with Odin but in system level not boot kernel

please elaborate ?
i'm a bit confussed
Where is the file?
im guessing what he means is that when you flash this via odin it will give you root perms UNTIL you reboot then you will no longer have root kinda like the temp root the evo3d started with
Hi,
I think what Mashi meant to say and didn't explain too well is that this is a pre-rooted /system image, in the form of system.img.ext4 inside of a pda.tar to be flashed via odin.
Both ways result in a permanently rooted system partition, just this way flashes it directly, leaving the stock kernel intact, whereas my method flashes a modified kernel which then roots the /system partition via a script.
Apparently the download site he uploaded it to doesn't allow non-premium users to download files that large.

+1. I decided i don't want to mess with flashing roms and kernels with this phone, i just want root so i can block adds and restore my titanium backups from old phone.
Well... a friend got one and wants root as well, and my first thing I told him, pull system, root it, (add su to /system/bin and superuser.apk to /system/app) then flash it back with Odin.
Can anyone tell me that would not work? It sounds like that is what this is...

I'm gonna jump on the locked sprint version. Just wanted to make sure that i understood before I flashed. You're saying that after flashing it, it is Not rooted? Also, are there any known issues I shouldn't worry about?
I really appreciate the work you do here. Thanks.

If you flash this and it doesnt work, what do you do then? We dont have an SBF for 2.3.5 do we and this will lock your bootloader and prevent a downgrade.

If rooted and bootstrap recovery works, shouldn't we be able to flash a nandroid backup to downgrade? I'm not sure if either of these are possible so I'll wait before trying anything.

Wind ICS Update

So I got bored of waiting for Wind's OTA ICS update and them telling everyone "you get it when we get it" and i sent a ticket into HTC.. got this as the responce today.

Looks like it cleaned itself out of /Download/ - so I'm guessing anyone who hasn't done it yet, to get it BEFORE they start installing it. Otherwise it'll be gone.
For some reason when I try to check for updates - it just gets stuck and only shows the message checking.... but nothing happens.
Is this because I am rooted and/or have my bootloader unlocked? Or is it because I have CWM as my recovery?
I really hope someone can provide the OTA files so I can try and update through recovery.
Please someone save the file before updating and share!
looks like its 4.0.3...
anyone care to spew out the build #'s etc and versions of everything else?

Added to my dropbox, thanks mate.
thanks to violated - we now have the zip file.
sorry - a bunch of noob questions:
Do I still have to go to stock recovery and relock bootloader to use the zip file?
If not - do I just copy the zip file to the sd card and rename it to update.zip and install it from CWM recovery?
A walkthrough would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to brick my phone!
Lastly - if I want to keep all of my apps/settings - should I do a backup and then apply the update - then reload the backup?
Thanks in advance!

Trying to restore S4

You need to do that from the recovery console with CWM or TWRP. I'm not sure what you mean by looking for a file. There is none if you made a nandroid backup. Just browse to that file and your set.

1.What program did you use to make your backup? 2.Did you save it in internal memory or SD card, remember that if you wiped internal it may have wiped along with it, if its on your SD and your using twrp you have a few options.. You can hook your phone to your computer and search your SD card or find the file path by going through twrp. I have done this before, it's just simply a case of finding your backup...let me know if you still need help

Obvious question but best to be sure... Are you sure the tab showed as being on a com port in Odin?

I had the same results with version 1.3
Which file did you flash in Odin? Just wondering for my own curiosity since you already have a great member helping.

recovery.tar.md5
Download: recovery.tar.md5"

No shame in that. You haven't gotten any help. I was just making sure you used the right file. It seems you did so I hope someone with more knowledge of your device will come along and help.

Thanks man. I know my chances are kind of slim because its a tablet and its fairly outdated. I like the tablet a lot and I really wanted to get it rooted. I'll hang out around here a little while longer.

Sorry, Work is frantic at moment so rarely here..
Do you have android sdk installed on your Windows computer? If yes, you can test the recovery you are trying by using fastboot, (fastboot boot recovery.img) if it works then there is a good chance that you have a rom that overwrites recovery when booting so even if Odin installs it ok it does not stick on rebooting....
You can extract the recovery image that you downloaded from droid basement from the tar.md5 file.
If you are ok with trying all that then we might be able to get you root by booting into cwm recovery through fastboot and flashing the root.zip from there, theory being when you reboot after that you will lose your custom recovery but have root...

Its fine! Its great to have the help! I would be fine doing all of that stuff. Do you think there would be a way for me to make a backup of the stock ROM so that I would be able to use this method to flash a different ROM like CM and then have a recovery and lots of goodies?
I would just need my hand held through the entire process honestly, I have no idea how to do that stuff but I'm pretty good at following directions lol.
I suppose you could use the adb "pull" command to save all the necessary partitions... Not sure of the possibility of possibly making a nandroid using the fastbooted recovery while you're in there... Never thought of it before and never tried it so you could become a pioneer...

Another thought is that if you succeed in getting root then you can delete the file responsible for overwriting recovery on your locked boatloader and you will then be free to install a recovery and it will stick... File is install-recovery.sh in system/etc
Our you could try unlocking boatloader but you'll lose everything on the tab...

I'm still a little noob at using the SDK. So I'm going to try this maybe next week when I get some free time. Is there an easy method to unlocking the bootloader? I don't mind doing it unless you think the other method would be easier. I appreciate the help!!

Hey there, I did a couple of searches and didn't find a thread to help me root my Verizon 4g 32Gb edition of the Galaxy tab 10.1. I was wondering if there is currently a method to root the tab on the latest OTA update? Or am I S.O.L.?

Kingo Root (installs SuperSU NOT SuperUser) worked like a charm for me! Once rooted I installed CWM recovery via Odin3 v1.85 (MUST have all Samsung Drivers installed. Get 'em Here &/or Here). No problems so far. Havent flashed a ROM yet.
EDIT: Kingo Root will get the drivers 4 you! Forgot
