Does the white phone get dirty? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

As the title says, does the white band around the phone or on the back get dirty?
Does it look like it will get dirty eventually?
How does your phone look and how long have you had it?
Thanks!!

Im pretty sure it can get dirty and it will get dingy over time

Its hard to tell because the device is like 1-2 days old

This should be in Q&A

Nope!
Yes it gets dirty. Its white. I cleaned my white one x with some Clorox all purpose cleaner (not bleach) sprayed on a hot damp rag. Squeeze all the moisture out you can before wiping phone.

I'm hoping the aluminum will get a nice aged looking patina, and the white turns yellow like old ivory.

anti-stain coating on Xperia S

Can anyone tell me who has a white Xperia S just how good the anti-stain coating is? Is it easy to get rid of dirt etc off the back of the device, plus does the phone get dirty very quickly?

Check out this link:

Thanks for the link but i already read that sometime back. I was just interested to hear from members of this forum of their experiences of the anti-stain coating that's all.
Do you expect they will get their white beauty dirty, just to... "confirm" anti-stain feature? Hmmm...

i've had the white one for about 10 days now. dont worry about stains, nothing at all, and if anything stains it, you can simply wipe it off with your thumb
Do you know if it will turn yellowish later?
im debating black or white!!
please help!!

One reviewer today claimed that only after a half day that it became ever so slightly blue-ish from the inside of his jeans. But, he also added that it's easily removable.
Such differing reports about the white version. That said, some have also said that the black attract dust and lint which would show up more on the black one.

[Hardware Mod] Sanded down front and back of black chassis (Pics)

I sanded down the back of my black chassis yesterday and then got bored at work today so I decided to sand down the front as well and make my LTEvo even more unique. I don't expect everyone to like it. Some will.....some won't. It's all good. I just enjoy modding things and I like having a truly one of a kind phone.
That having been said.....ONT TO THE PICS!!!

I like the front gives it a classy look
I wouldnt do either personally, but the front looks better than the back imo
Looks good

Well I did it for 2 reasons. 1, I love to mod things. So trying different things that I don't see anywhere was my inspiration. 2, I wanted to have a phone that was 100% unique. Between my software setup, theme, and external appearance I can honestly say that there is no other phone like mine in the world. Customizations! That's why I love Android as well!

I disassembled the phone. There is no way that I would sand the front down with the digitizer still attached. I would've scratched the crap out of it. I like the silver accents on the front.
Also, I had black marks along the side of my phone (the trim on the side of the phone that is silver from the manufacturer). I just took some ultra fine grit sandpaper (400 - 600 grit) and sanded the side of the chassis down as well. It got rid of all of the scratches and knicks that I had in the chassis and smoothed it all out to a more uniform finish that matched the rest of the sanded phone. So after a while of using the phone you notice scratches and imperfections like that along the silver trim just sand it down a tad and it will look as good as new. :good:
Nicely done. I've been wanting to do something like that myself. I sanded down the top housing and painted it dark grey.
Where did you get those carbon fiber parts?
Some 2000 grit and then some Flitz metal polish would really set that off.
Really cool - I like all the metallic exposure!
That looks awesome! I like how you left the black htc letters on the back too. Nice job!

I don't recall where I purchased it from. It's 3M di-noc carbon fiber vinyl. Wherever you find that stuff online it should be the same thing.
Looks Awesome!
However, I don't really want to do it to mine.... Lol I'd probably sand the screen by accident.

I disassembled the phone in order to sand the chassis so that there was no risk of accidentally sanding the screen. Takes a minute or two to take the phone apart and you are ready to start sanding.

How do you guys keep the amaze clean?

How do we amaze owners keep the device looking amazing

Hey FilthyGoat I take my case off, remove battery and lightly air blow, wipe the edges there is always a little layer of dust there.
I do that ever couple weeks so it does not accumulate. I also use a LCD screen cleaner, no house hold cleaners on the screen.
Hope my method will give you some tips FilthyGoat .......your username makes me smile with this question you asked

Indeed, thing is, filthy goats have a very hard time keeping anything clean
I go try hard some times and completely give the phone a wipe down but the screen becomes smudged very quick ... Maybe cuz I'm filthy? Who knows
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
mine too, smudges happen very quick, doesen't take much in terms of greasy fingers. I have a couple eyeglass cloths around my desk at work and I give it a spray with the eyeglass solution and just wipe it down. Also, I change the screen protector every few months, and go through a few tpu cases a year. Mine still looks as new as the day I bought it.
the kinda of case and screen protector i'm using don't really leave smudges... the most ill have to worry about is dust gathering around the corners of the screen where the protector is.. but i just blow it off dust and wipe it whenever it looks dirty
Is eye glass cleaner harmful to the glass display?

Has anybody noticed that dust collects on the inside of the little window for the front-facing camera? Or, am I the only one this has happened to? I have no idea how to clean it; I've tried shooting "canned air" into the back with the cover off, and into the earpiece. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd gladly listen. Thanks!

i go naked!
I originally had a ballistic case for my phone but hate how bulky it was, and the phone is a heavy beast as it is. I really don't like screen protectors either, they either smudge too much, or distort the clarity of the screen. So I'm going totally naked now which can be a delicate operation, so I take the following steps to keep my phone clean.
1. Don't drop it. Duh. Most of the time dropping a phone without a case isn't the end of the world though, and I could live with a ding in the corner should it happen, better than living in fear and having a frumpy-ass case wrapped around it the other 99.9% of the time that I don't have poor coordination...
2. Never set the phone down on a hard surface unless very gently, this prevents scratching. If I do set my phone down I put my wallet under it, but most of the time my phone is either in my hand or in my front pocket.
3. Dedicate one pocket to you phone (you can carry your wallet there too it it's soft), and NOT your back pocket. I'm a lightweight guy and I shattered the screen on my Atrix by sitting on it when getting into my car, turned out it wasn't as strong as my iPhone's 3GS screen was, so I don't do this anymore. Sounds stupid but I've knowingly sat on my phone thousands of times without it ever breaking... I just really like my phone in my back pocket. So now I keep my phone in my front right pocket with the screen facing my leg; keys and spare change go in left pocket.
4. Carry a microfiber pouch on you--I use this to clean the screen and to clean my sunglasses, and I store my sunglasses in it when stowing them away. Most cheap-o sunglasses stores around here will sell you one for 2 or 3 dollars, the nice ones feel like micro-suede...
5. Keep your hands & ears clean, I won't detail how to clean you ears and trim your nails but you get the idea
Dead skin and pocket debris are the main things to get stuck in the speaker grills so if you're super anal you could keep your phone in a soft case with a drawstring before putting it in your pocket but that's kinda dorky, at the end of the day it's just a phone and you're probably gonna replace it with a better one in due time anyways so I say go naked and enjoy...

Silver M8 Staining

Hi,
I bought the silver M8 and I love it.
My only issue is that the White strips on the back keeps staining blue when I have the phone in my pocket.
Anyone found a solution to this.
Using Mr Clean magic eraser takes care of it but it is annoying to do it every day.

A thin little TPU case could prevent that from happening.

Back cover project (installed cover)

I bought this white back for the phone to see what i could do with it. I took the letters off because they were not stuck on there good. They came off with a dust can.
Decided to paint it a sliver color to match the frame as close as possible. I hand painted the inside of the letters black. I don't know what to do about the "M" yet, if i'm going to put one on there or not. Maybe something else, idk.
This is what I have so far. It looks like it has a brushed look to it. After I painted it, I scuffed it with a dish scrubber to give it that look.
Last thing I do, will be spray a satin clear.
That thread title though.
Looks good.

just cleared it a bit ago. ended up using a matte clear. just going to let it dry really good and maybe polish it a lil before installing it.
looks pretty good
Would be nice to see it on your phone!

I'd buy one from you if you decide to sell it
Definitely a cool option to have something unique like that.
This does look cool. But I wonder what kind of spray paint you used and even more importantly what kind of clear coat are you going to use to withstand bending? When one removes and puts back on one has to bend this cover a bit and I'm not sure how well will paint and coat withstand this?

I used rust-o-leum paint and clear. I'm not worried about the bending. I'm taking this one off in the next few days.
I started another one with a different silver. I wont be reusing the current one.
FYI they make paint for plastic (bendable) it's mostly for bumpers on cars
I took the cover off earlier and the paint held up very well, i didnt bend the cover a whole lot to begin... i wasnt going to use it again so i decided it to test how much bend it would take and i had to bend it a lot in order for the paint to wrinkle.
I tried doing something similar for my daughter that got bored by the same old phone sleeve/case that was partially clearly transparent and partially frosted look.
I decided to paint the frosted part using RAL 9005 matte black spray paint. I haven't clear coated it yet as it was just an experiment. If it turns out to be ok I may coast it using some not so rigid coat to avoid cracking due to the rubbery nature of this sleeve.
She likes the end result. Me too. Unfortunately I'm not able to add images to my posts (haven't posted enough posts to XDA - apparently)

How did you stick the back cover back on?
I'm curious to know what you used to stick the cover on with.
The reason I ask is that my first Nexus 6 came with the cover unstuck right out of the box. I returned it (partly because I was worried that the battery may have swelled) but I'd be interested to know how hard it would have been to stick the cover back down again.

Uuhm... i had thought the idea of seeing more than one back cover in some of the more recent photo's would have indicated it... but also in the first post he says he bought a white back cover a while ago to see what he could do with it. He didn't remove and replace the same back cover. Pretty sure that's NOT possible due to the adhesive... or at least risks the ability to put it back on firmly and smoothly.
