How do I stop the OTA update? - HTC Droid DNA

I'm on stock/locked 2.04, and just got the 2.06 OTA notification last night. I postponed it, but the latest it would allow was 4/22. How do I stop the OTA from installing at that time?
Apologies if this has been answered before, I did do a forum search but all I could come up with was, "Flash a different ROM!". As such, that's not really an option on the table at this point.

That's interesting I wonder if there's a deadline or that's just the max amount of days you can postpone at a time.

This should probably be under question and answer area. It won't let me defer update past the 22nd like you mentioned but I just hit reject and good to go.

I don't have the option to reject; it only allows me to install or defer. Ack.

No prob Eak just a mistake. That's weird you don't have the option to reject I'll see if I can take a snap shot.

Here's the pic dude I'm surprised you don't have that option?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium

TBH.. that's the first time I've ever seen "Reject" as an option for an OTA. I've only seen install or defer, with the mentioned deadline of when the install is required. Since I'm rooted, I just rename/delete '/etc/security/otacerts.zip' and freeze/delete '/system/app/Updater.apk'. After that, a cache wipe and you won't see the annoying popup anymore.

It is strange that we're presented with different options. Well, I sent my baby off for JTAG today so hopefully it'll be a moot point when she gets back. My only concern would be if it installs itself on 4/22 and somehow jacks up the SOFF abilities. Probably paranoia, but sometimes with OTA it pays to be paranoid. :fingers-crossed:

nah it won't hinder JTAG

I got that option today too and defered until the 24th but just now it started popping up saying that the update would start in 30 seconds. I hit back and it kept coming up. I disabled wifi, mobile data, and sync then restarted the phone and then it popped up again. Only option to close the screen was [ok]. Definitely not liking the fact that this update is forced no matter what.

Hmm, after it finished downloading it went back to the same prompt offering to install or defer. I picked defer so we will see how long it lasts this time.

It has come up multiple times for me as well, each time allowing to defer at least until the 24th.

The update more than likely only tried to fix sim detection issues.
Good thing stock is very reliable on the DNA. If you're an addicted flasher you might want to consider the JTAG service.

What just happened to me, I set defer to 12/31/13 phone said no so I set it to max date and hit Ok, and it started running right then with the 30 second count down. I shut down my phone then re powered it up, on restart the reject option showed up and I hit that.

So if I want any chance of rooting I have to keep deferring the 2.06 update until someone hopefully makes root possible for 2.04?

There is no exploit for 2.04, therefore nobody can say definitively that an exploit for 2.04 would work for 2.06. Seems a lot of people have given up on an exploit ever being found. However the bounty thread reaching close to $1k seems to be generating more interest in the possibility.

The above post shows my ignorance. There are people working towards an exploit, my apologies if I offended anyone by stating they're not.

Yeah I mean as far as 2.06 I know it's pretty much a lost cause. I was thinking that once rooted and after flashing a ROM the update message would go away.

From what they've said, it's not recommended to take future OTAs, so a new one probably won't be safe... but I doubt it closes the hole as I would bet that they don't know what it is yet.
Just because someone discovered it, doesn't necessarily mean that HTC already knows where to find it.
I won't be taking anymore updates, because I don't want to lose the opportunity for root, but I bet this one wouldn't close the hole.
But, thanks for the heads-up about the new one. I haven't noticed it yet. Too busy tearing my phone apart lol.

Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I don't think that this a new OTA you are getting. There were 2 that were pushed so far, and that is all Sprint lists on their website.
Something even more interesting though, and looked for the Evo3D Support section and it doesn't exist... I know that it was there about a week ago, just seems odd that there isn't any support section and they don't even show a link for the Evo3D to select as a phone in the support section..
Don't jump to conclusions on the phone not being there, but I would guess that it isn't there for a reason.. Hopefully something good!
OP: The one you were prompted for was the 2nd one.
no new ota atm
No new update for me either.

I think the closest you will get is on Sprint's website. Like I said a few posts back HTC doesn't have the EVO 3D listed anymore on there support section. That is where they used to show you what was in it, a little more detailed than Sprint..
Whats going on there... We can only wonder.

From what I've seen so far, they are rolling out the software update only in test markets: Salt Lake City, UT and Austin, TX. You may not be able to get the OTA until it is in wide release.
What's interesting is there is a mention today that they pulled the ISIS mention from the update. At least the version remained the same in the two press releases (2.17.605.2 710RD)

I was able to get in before they removed unlocking so I'm actually running Hasoon2000's QX senseless rom and have TWRP installed.
I'm sitting here at work and heard my phone make a noise but wasn't paying attention. Then 10 minutes later it's in the process of rebooting itself. It tossed itself into recovery and looking at the log it tried and failed to install the ota update. I'm a little concerned that it just up and tried to install on it's own without asking (or if it did it had a timer). But either way since i'm not running stock it failed.
I'm in Idaho which no one gives a crap about, so i'd say it's global now!

Well like i said i heard it make a noise, but it was the sound i have set for calendar reminders so i ignored it. I'm assuming that was a prompt, and it probably waited 10 minutes for a response before going for default behavior. I think the most worrying part is default behavior in this case is to auto install.
But since I'm running a custom rom it failed so no harm done... to me at least!!!!

I happened to notice mine was downloading. After it downloaded there was a pop-up warning me it was about to update. There was a 3 minute countdown and a dialog to proceed immediately or defer. I selected defer and it let me set the date and time. Set it for next week so I could see how this potential new root exploit works out.

Yep killing HTCDM did the trick, my phone is no longer trying to update. I also confirmed from some other posts that HTCDM is the process that checks for updates. So kill it or freeze it if the defer option isn't working (which it doesn't seem to work for anyone) or you're running a custom rom.

I can come on here and say I got the update myself, and I'm the only one that Sprint is letting test it right now in the real world. It doesn't really hold water. Unless there's a press release saying that it's "coming" or is being pushed, there's no way to confirm this is true.

The Knox referred to here is a hardware/firmware that is on the Note 3, and the 2014 Note tab(Galaxy Tab). It is an efuse, meaning that if you try normal rooting, you permanently blow the fuse, thus rendering your warranty void, and possibly bricking/soft bricking your device. Google!:good:

Per Sprint, on the Sprint forum, a fix is coming. This is an erroneous message. Of course, the party line is don't root, don't this, don't that...

Ah, yes but if you do root, two simple lines in a terminal emulator and the problem is gone for good! No Sprint fix needed.

Believe me, I get that. I'm waiting to verify a few things and then I'll root, too. Just letting folks know that this isn't going unnoticed and that the fix is coming. I know many are concerned about how to fix it.

I'm with you. I haven't rooted my N3 yet either... N2 is rooted with Kingoapp. I wanted to wait 30 days to make sure my phone isn't defective in any way. Got another 2 weeks to go. :good:

I have a little more than that to wait, but not much. Just watching, waiting, tap.tap.tap. It's killing me, too. I miss having control, even though I'm just a gadget geek. Would be great to be a dev - got a taste in school - but I'm way beyond that now.

[Q] (Q) Device status Custom...from OTA??

So I have a rather interesting situation. I got my phone through preorder like many others did, and got a 27th stability update right away. I installed it, used the device for a while. Later in the day I went into download mode to see if my phone said anything about being bootloader- locked.
The funny thing is that now, device status shows as custom, and updates fail due to "unauthorized" changes, which were never made
So my question: can that be fixed without wiping device? What do u think triggered that? Booting into DL even if I didn't do anything else?
Thanks for your help in advance!
Bump
Did you root the device yet?

I have the same problem I just checked for an update. Haven't done anything beyond set up my phone and update

Welp. If you switch to art runtime it's "unauthorized " I just switched back to dalvik and all of a sudden I'm up to date when I check .
