[Q] Cyanogenmod 6.1, Froyo and Baidu Input - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to try BaiduInput (Chinese handwriting among other input modalities on my G Tablet running Cyanogenmod 6.1.0-Beta4-Harmony and Froyo 2.2.1) but the program is not available on Google Market despite it states it is compatible with Android 1.6 forward.
I do have it running on my Google Nexus phone running Android 4.2 where it works nicely. I do have the Google Pinyin IME keyboard installed on both the G Tablet and the Nexus phone, it works nicely on both but does not offer handwriting input.
Does anyone have Baidu Input running? Thanks.

You could install ES File Explorer (from the market or internet) on your Nexus phone and make a backup of BaiduInput.apk (or whatever it is called). Then transfer it to the Gtab (using bluetooth or a PC) and install. No guarantee the app will work on the Gtab, but it might.
About your Gapps question in another thread, they should update through the market to the latest version available. You are running a Froyo build, which is old, so there probably haven't been any updates to it's version of Gapps in quite a while. If you want to use the newer versions, you will probably have to update to a newer rom/android version.

I do have ES File Explorer installed on my Nexus phone and will try your suggestion. Thank you.
As for updating to a later ROM, I would love to but last I checked - which is quite some time ago - there were no Tegra 2 drivers for the G tablet supporting later ROMs, thus adversely affecting speed.
Perhaps that has been corrected? If so, what would you suggest I update to (that is stable, works well etcl)?

Market

I know there was a thread about this a while ago but there was no resolution. I have a wifi only galaxy tab 10.1 and the market version is 1.0.27. The only thing I've done is root my tab, no rom or anything. Is there any reason I'm stuck with such an old version of the market?!
I did try some link to download a newer version of the market which resulted in two markets on my tab. It was a mess and didn't work properly.
1.0.28 is the larest version of market for tablets. The market versions with 3.x.x. version numbers are for mobiles.
so there is no music store for tablets?

[Q] Latest Version of Google Apps

Where can I find the latest version of Google Apps for the Viewsonic G Tablet running Cyanogenmod 6.1.0-Beta4-Harmony and Froyo 2.2.1? I seem to not have had those updated from Google since the original install December 2011.
Thanks.

This would probably be the closes that I might give a whirl. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-mdpi-tegra-20101020-signed.zip,
If gapps is all you need then goo.im is where to look. You just have to be careful on some and make sure that it will match up to the device.

[Q] CM 6.1.0, Froyo and Latest Version of Market

I have since a long time ago installed CM 6.0.1 with Froyo 2.2.1 on my Viewsonic G Tablet. It seems that I am stuck on the same version of Market that I have had since this installation late 2010. Is it possible to update to the latest version of Market given the above version of CM? I have at least one application, Pleco, that does not allow me to download in-app purchased content to the tablet although I have no problem downloading same to my Google Nexus phone running Android 4.3.
Market is version 1.82, Google Services Framework was recently updated to 2.2.1 but I also have Google Play Services which is at version 3.2.25. Is it possible for me to get the latest version of Market, or Google Play, as it is now called, or am I forever stuck on version 1.82?
Thank you.

Need to root to download Microsoft Teams?

I am looking to root my Galaxy View so that I can upgrade to a newer version of Android and had a couple of questions. What version can I update to without running into problems and will updating to a newer OS allow me to install apps that were not compatible before such as Teams? This is my first time rooting a device since my original Motorola Droid and much has changed it seems. Thanks for any help.
Idk why Samsung wouldn't continue to support their largest device on the market. Here's an idea why don't the apps just continue to support all devices they did use at one time. They already have the os so just but it back on the server like the current os is. So it's the app writers that's making devices obsolete.

Apps won't update probably because ROM is too old, looking for new one

The Xperia Z2 is a great phone, though it is no longer my primary. I still would like to use a few apps on it. They no longer update and I'm assuming it's because the ROM is so old. It's running a Cyanogenmod build based on Android 5!
Questions:
How do you know which versions of Android an app that is in the Play Store is compatible with? What is the oldest version of Android that most apps still support? I'm guessing it's not 5.
Coming from Cyanogenmod, what's the next logical update? Stabability is the most important to me. Most of the time the phone is not even connected to the internet and doesn't have a SIM.
