[Q] HTC Torch App - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

So either after unlocking my bootloader or rooting my new HTC One, the HTC Torch app was removed.
Any reason why it would disappear?
Anyone have the apk so I can load manually?

Thanks for confirming it was from root

You do lose these as unlocking the bootloader wipes the data partition adn they are in a particular location. I used the carbon app restore from this thread and got them all back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2193447
I could probably also pull the apks if I have time later.

Looks like there are more than 4 that get lost
So far, there are the ones i noticed at first and then 3 of the ones in the zip i didnt notice because i hadnt used them
So here is the list of apps that get lost:
Torch
Calculator
Soundhound
Tunein Radio
PDF Viewer
Ringtone Trimmer
Sound Recorder
We should update this thread as we find more apps that went missing, but I think this is all of them, anyone have all of the apps listed above?

If someone could upload them I'd super appreciate it!

Here is the calculator App, sorry I missed that one. The others, soundhound and tune in I do not have as they do not seem to be the one that the OTA updates will check for. though I could be wrong.

Time Warner Cable app for ICS (Fixed for Rooted Users)

TWC just released the app that will allow you to stream the live TV shows from your phone. I got really excited to watch Game of Thrones.
But when I try to launch the app. It says it does not run on rooted device. WTF?
What is the difference between rooted or unrooted device when it comes to TWC app?
I tried to unroot with root keeper to run the app with no luck.
Any suggestions or workaround to get it working?
Update: Thanks to b00sted now rooted users can benefit from Time Warner App
Here is the link to fix : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24975697

I can confirm this on Epic 4g touch (rooted)
Same issue here. Rooted Hp touchpad running 4.0.4. When you launch TWC app and choose Live TV it will state "TWC tv is not supported on rooted devices"

I'm sure it will be in time. Timewarner lol..
confirmed here on Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Hope someone fixes this. You also have to have USB Debugging disabled, AND be on your home network (which means Road runner is also a requirement).
EDIT...
Turns out the TWC app only checks for the presence of /system/app/superuser.apk. A quick rename of superuser.apk and it works fine. A simple script can be written for this to toggle it.

Ah ok, cool.
If you use the app 'GScript' which is in the market, you can write a script and add a widget to your homescreen to execute the rename and to reverse it. Makes it real easy to go ba ck and forth.
sweet!!! Working on my rooted att note, anyone have any workarounds that will allow me to view when not connected to home wifi network?

just found this post as well, was looking for this over on the nexus forums.. I have the decompiled apk if someone can tell me what to nix I can recompile and give it a try for us.. Here is the decompiled apk. u will see in the smali files it talks about if root and if adb is enabled.. I just dont know what to really nix out of there withough completely breaking it.. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22063477/com.TWCableTV-1.zip
Anyone else seeing ever so slight lag? Kinda like a jitter.. I'm wondering if this is due to rom/kernal or if it's just cause it's the first version.
Does this help?
:~/Downloads/com.TWCableTV-1$ grep -H -r "Superuser" ~Downloads/com.TWCableTV-1
~/Downloads/com.TWCableTV-1/smali/com/TWCableTV/androidphone/a/a.smali: const-string v1, "/system/app/Superuser.apk"
Thank you everyone for clarification. Some Driod-life members reported that clearing cache helps too. I have not tried it myself yet but it is worth a shot.
Quote from D-L: We have seen a user submitted tip that if you wipe the application’s data in your app settings menu, that could clear up the issue. It’s worth a shot, so give it a try if you have been having this trouble and let us know if it works or not.

still something else being detected..
I wonder if they've patched this already. I just tried, and it didn't work. Rebooted. Confirmed renamed APK. Cleared data in manage-apps. Still no go.
The only ICS devices I have are third-party (and rooted) ROMs.
Is there a problem if I have the superuser.apk file name?
renamed com.TWCableTV-1/smali/com/TWCableTV/androidphone/a/a.smali: const-string v1, "/system/app/Superuser.apk" to ****TimeWarner.apk and then renamed C:\Android\apktool\com.TWCableTV-1\smali\com\TWCableTV\androidphone\Login\Activities\SplashScreenActivity.smali an TWCHomeActivity.smali had root set to true so change the true to false and no luck.. I am shooting blind here so any help would be great
Looking forward to a fix.

Mine continue's to work changing the name of the superuser.apk
Really quick question. After the changing superuser.apk name did it effect any rooted functionalities?
And please update me with the solid work around so I can post it in OP.

old HTC stock Flashlight app

Just chiming in to report that this Rezound port of HTC's simple-but-great flashlight app [mostly] works on the Inc4g:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408341
The power button target is a bit off, though. You have to press a bit below and slightly to the right of the on-screen button.
I searched for other versions of this app, but this is the only one I could find so far. If someone else has a link to the original Incredible version or something else that works better, I'd like to see it. (too bad HTC doesn't include this anymore)

I installed it as an apk through Root Explorer. You can download it and install it directly from the link through your browser, though, as long as non-Market apps are allowed.

it's a zip file though, didn't know we could install root explorer. thought you needed root, i have it backed up.
You can install and use Root Explorer. It won't give you access to /system though. But installing apk's is fine. You can install apk's from any file browser as long as Unknown Sources is checked in your options.

Thanks but Voice Recorder FCs. I tried earlier but I think it needs a lib or something. I haven't looked properly yet.

If it is missing please post weather your One X+ is UK or other. I am curious to know why it would be missing as it is part of the apps on NAND not SD.

It does not force close for me. I am unlocked and rooted but still on stock ROM. I did reinstall the apps I posted and no FC on any of them.
Nobnut, if you have CWM installed try "fix permissions". This can help with FC and other app problems.
No, unfortunately not. I tried everything earlier, it just won't play.
I'm not sure if it is the unlock process, or a custom ROM. I haven't the time just now to test and I am not in front of a desktop with which to properly look into it.
Keep up the sharing though

It's fantastic, thanks man.
"AOSP like" meaning it still has sense somehow? The "about" screenshot makes it seem like sense still exists in some capacity on the phone, but perhaps that's just where we're at ROM-wise right now. I suppose I can answer my own darn question by flashing this tomorrow.

It is based off the original ROM. I removed many of the sense files The framework still has all the Sense info. So yeah. The launcher is what gives it the AOSP look style. Try it out! I hope yot like it!
Found a small bug or issue ..I can send text just fine but I can't attach a mms file from my gallery. When I click on gallery it goes nowhere..I can only attach a picture if I take it from the messaging app. Hope this made sense..
running this now, i deleted the google search widget and there was no "X" symbol to delete but it seems it only happened once, looking for other issues, will report later if i find more...
Also, I cannot click on any hyperlink in the messaging app. Anytime I do the app crashes. I've tried clicking on hyperlinks in emails and they work just fine..only issue is with the messaging app as of now.

I forgot to say thank you for all your work ...and so fast ..didn't you just get the att one x plus?
My stock Rom I was using had less sense features and it was running fine... FYI in case you want to make it slimmer, you can also try backing up some features just in case you're not sure what can or can't be removed and car app and setup are useless

Downloading once I get home. Can't wait to flash something on this device!

Hmm. I'll see why that happens.

If I remember correctly, hyperlinks cant be opened in a message. That happens on my Amaze and since the unlock code isn't out for the phone, I can't personally use it yet.
Yes, I just got it on Saturday

Hope you like this one!
Media link, car GPS, checkin service, and car app and setup app... For no simple way to avoid the unlock ring is to put no lock screen and use a password... I had a few more uninstalled but didn't get around to testing them...
Also Google voice search isn't working, idk if you uninstalled it but its not in the drawer and the widgets don't work but the play store shows it's installed

I did remove Google Voice Search. There may have been something with it or that I may have missed if it shows it is installed. Uninstall it and reinstall it from the market. That should work for you. Remember, this is supposed to be at the bare minimum.
Do you guys like the bootanimation? It looks nice on this phone!
Boot animation is nice, but this phone needs voice search, it doesn't let you do anything on the store. Zero options
... It just says installed

I'll throw it back in. I'm going to set up Ubuntu on my other laptop so I can dig deeper into this. I'll try and have a new build up tonight!

Stock apps

Deleted a couple apps prior to backing up. Anyone have Polaris, Group play or caller ID name? The ME7 ver are preferred but the MKE will probably do. Just concerned lack of these apps may not allow future updates (KLP??).
Thanks
Hopefully Im not threadjacking...
Im also looking for the stock Verizon Voicemail app?
Any help would be appreciated.
Or, can someone tell me how to fish out the APK from a Titanium backup of that app? I backed up all my apps before I installed a ROM and the verizon voicemail app wont install/restore from the Titanium app.
Help?
