Does anyone use a screen protector? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I just ordered my HTC One and am looking for a screen protector.
1) Do you guys think the gorilla glass 2 will hold up on scratches?
2) I'm thinking about playing it safe, so for those of you who have a screen protector, which one would you recommend? SGP?

I decided to get one after seeing my wife's DNA screen get scratched by her keys in her purse. What's up with that, gorilla glass 2? I bought a 3-pack of Lumii Ark protectors for $.99 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BL5N0X2/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Just arrived yesterday, haven't applied one yet.
Also thinking about getting a Poetic or Nillkin case to shield that beautiful aluminum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171713)

For what it's worth, the aluminum looks plenty capable of buffing out some reasonable scratches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0kel2d3xGQ&feature=youtu.be
Personally, I'm not using a screen protector but I keep my phone in a sleeve type case from Krusell when it's not in use so that does the trick.

I use cases and screen protectors on all of my devices. My HTC One never saw the light of day before the screen protector went on it. I'm a little OCD like that though.

I use Skinomi tech skin Carbon Fiber skin that came with a screen protector and I'm very very happy with both.

This may only be my experience but I found that the capacitive buttons weren't nearly sensitive and had trouble hitting home+back with an invisible shield (which covers the capacitive buttons). I ended up cutting away the excess which covered the buttons and have seen a huge improvement.

I bought the skinomi full body, but only used it for the back because I didn't like the feel on the front with it, and its not so clear.. but now I have the skinomi on the back, sides, and speaker grill, and a fosmon ultra clear on the front.. the fosmon is a lot better than the skinomi and is very very clear.. I cant even tell that there is a screen protector there..
Ps if you decide to get the skinomi, I used the coupon code 'earthday2013' , and got 60% off of the full body, so it was only $8.. if that coupon doesn't work anymore, there is one for 25% off which is 'get25'

my one is in pouch all the time. because i always put it with my key.

I got the $10 3-Pack that all the AT&T stores carry. They are suprisingly good quality. Absolutely no complaints.

I went to three at&t stores yesterday and they all told me they only carry the invisible shield dry for $30!!! I was a little skeptical, but with my luck my One would never stay in it's prestine condition without some kind of protector, so I got it. I have to say it is much better than others give it credit for; it's far greater than all of the "cheapy" screen protectors when it comes to look and feel, lifetime warranty when you register it, and I feel much better knowing that my device won't look like my buddy's horrific note II whose been naked since he purchased it because he bought into all the hype that the gorilla glass II is so incredibly scratch resistant!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Decided to go with the sgp ultra clear screen protector. I have used there protectors before and they are really nice and high quality. Also $14 for 2!? Not bad if you ask me.

For one, if you wanted to spend over $100 you could get a new glass screen and get it installed somehow. As far as getting protection then, I fully recommend it. Gorilla glass is NOT AT ALL as good as they say it is. My phone doesn't come into contact with razor blades and other crap it says it stands up against, but it does come in contact with minor pieces of lint in my pocket which somehow scratched this "impervious" screen...
As far as what type of protector...I didn't like Zagg or Ghost Armor or any of those stupid things. More expensive, more hassle than they're worth. I got I think a Splash Masque screen protector off Amazon or something. Something like that should do the trick. Not too hard to install w/o bubbles and I can't really tell it's there (feels normal, fits just fine).
zagg scratch guards are pathetic to use.
all rubbery feel with no smoothness unless you lube it
overpriced stuff that you cant through off because you overspent kind of feeling ..
get cheap clear screen protectors.. cost $2-5 over ebay for pack of 10 or something
I agree with the other two. Don't get a Zagg. I am currently using one and regret it. When I slide my finger to scroll or to play games, sad enough sometimes my fingers don't slide as smooth as opposed to some other screen protectors. Although I would say that it has saved my screen a couple of times. If your willing to spend the money on a Zagg and idk what your budget is like you could try out the otter box Commuter. Its isn't that bulky in my opinion and has a pretty good screen protector on it, with the bonus of protecting the phone itself.

I used a bodyguardz but didn't really like the feel of it and the proximity sensor wouldn't work right. Order some other cheap one off Amazon which feels a lot better but the proximity sensor still doesn't work right with it.
I can deal with the proximity sensor issue more than I could put up with a scratch in on my screen. Not sure if the zaggs interfere with the proximity sensor or not.

I use Zagg full body coverage, and I'm very happy with it. Yes, it feels rubbery.
But I'm looking the Splash Masque stuff, it's good to know a second opinion
I picked one up on Amazon called
Motorola Atrix 4G Crystal Clear Premium Screen Protector 2 Pack by REALOOK (AT&T)
I can't link since I'm a noobie poster. It's slightly spendy at 10.99 but has been great for me so far. Easy to put on with no bubbles, doesn't effect the usability of the screen either. By far the best screen protector I've used when compared to a few I've had on my iPhones.

Don't go the Zagg route.
First the invisible shields are a true PITA to install! (trust me it's a lot harder than a normal screen protector)
Second even if you get it installed correctly it feels rubbery weird.
Just go with the clear screen protector cheapies on eBay, and either a leather holster or a TPU clear case (depending if you pocket or not) and you'll be fine...
Im a huge fan of ghost armor. I like the look and feel of it. Yeah it sucks do pay $20 for the initial screen and service, but its $5 bucks after to replace it forever.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I went with Zagg myself, went in to the local store had them install it for 10 bucks. Just got it replaced, it does have a sort of grip to it on the screen that you have to get use to. Overall all I'm happy with the protection it's given my phone, usually after a couple months I'll start seeing scratches and stuff, I'm a little disappointed that I had to take it in to get the shield replaced today, but it was free save for the installation free so I'd say it was definitely a good investment for my device.

False, they are not the same thing. I use it myself. It's thinner, had a whole different feel and is closer to clear than the ZAGG. ZAGG has major orange peel. They function the same way, but are not the same thing. I've been picking up the screen protectors for $1.49. It also has better cut tolerances, they cover more of the screen and are more true to size than the ZAGG.
Xtreme Guard products are usually cheaper on eBay, from the same guy. For some reason it's $2.00 + free shipping on Amazon.

All the anti glare ones I've seen are a lot more sensitive to skin oils and very noticeable grease look. they also make the screen look dull and not as beautiful. In my personal experience

My question is this: If the screen is gorilla glass, why would you get a screen protector besides the fact of glare???? is there something I don't know?
P.S. our screens are oleophobic, meaning they don't smudge as much as other screens with oil...my samsung galaxy tab 10.1 is an oil magnet but with this phone I have noticed very little oil smudges and wipes right off with a swipe from sleeve of your shirt or something.
I have seen specs that say it is and others that say it isn't.

It is I keyed my own phone cause I had insurance right when I got it...keyed the hell out of it...then keyed my gf old cracked 3g slide screen which is supposed to have gorilla glass, the glass on the amaze seems more resistant....HTC has stated that they do no use actual Gorilla glass but something more advanced...
I then took a knife SO I tested the 3g slide with mine and amaze is definitely more scratch resistant...NO GLASS IS EVER SCRATCH PROOF not even gorilla glass, take a sand paper to it and it'll leave scratches...so I guess if you drop you phone on sand or small pebbles you can scratch it no matter what you have..but as long as I don't have to worry about putting my phone and keys in the same pocket i'm fine...but it seems very resistant to scratch and smudge from my own experience. I absolutely hated smudges on my N1 and on my galaxy tab 10.1 I can't even tell on my amaze...
remember gorilla doesn't mean its shatter resistant...its only scratch resistant partially...although screen covers seem to protect from major scratches even sand paper... they don't protect form shattering...when I had an Iphone (big mistake) i used to have zagg, bodyguardz, gadgetguardz, and i still managed to shatter my screen lol...
if you have an older phone like an N1 take your finger and try to smudge the screen and try to smudge the screen on this phone you will see a major difference even if you have oily hands, the oil comes off with a quick sweep, as on my old N! it would smudge....
btw my gf sensation which is listed under gorilla glass shattered the first time she dropped it lol....here are some tests of gorilla glass and amaze glass

SGP screen protector

I'm using an SGP screen protector on my og incredible and love it. It looks like they dont have one for the inc 4g yet. I emailed them and they said "As of now, we don't have any definite plans to make screen protectors for the HTC increidible 4g LTE. However, if there is increased interest from our customers, we may change our production plans in the future"
That doesnt sound good. in the mean time, I'd like to use something. I'm thinking of getting a screen for a different phone, whatever is closest and using that. Any suggestions for which phone?
I am using a skinomi screen and body protector and its really nice and easy to install. I love it because it feels like there is nothing there and the touch screen is still very responsive.

Once I put on $0.99 screen protector from eBay and I peeled off screen protective film? thingy, which covers both front and back of screen protector. After I peeled off that plastic thingy, it was very clear almost unnoticeable. I thought it was so nice for 99 cents, In fact, there was no screen protector. It was two piece of screen protective films putting together. That was the clearest screen protector that I've bought.

Hmm, i used to own the defender, and the screen protector never really bothered me that much. If you don't like the responsiveness with the screen protector on, then try the Seidio Active case, it's pretty similar

I hated the thickness and grainy appearance of the built-in anti-glare screen protector on the Defender, so I removed it and installed the Steinheil Ultra Crystal protector instead. World of difference in terms of clarity and sensitivity. Fingerprints are easily wiped away. Some dust does get under the edges of the polycarbonate top shell, but it gets trapped there on top of the screen protector and doesn't penetrate into the actual case.
I have the defender and had the zagg hd . I hate zagg , it feels rubbery and has orange peel and is too thick .. orange peel was ok, but if I get resistance when I'm trying to swipe my finger on the phone its irritating. If you try it with the protector and without you will feel worlds of difference. I have the defender , incipio ngp, and diztronic . I use defender for work in construction . And incipio on the weekends. I am waiting for the steinhiel ultra clear protectors in the mail . For the defender case , you will notice in certain angles it looks like there is water between the screen and the defender clear protector but if you put a thin screen protector on the phone and then put the defender on , it eliminates that problem .
I used to defend InvisibleShield (now the actual company is called Zagg) to the death a year or so back. I've had them literally on EVERY device I've owned. I've even recommended friends to it.
As someone that has done that I'm here to tell you that they are crap. Definitely remove the cover that comes with the case but do not get Zagg. Unless you can get a time machine and get a product from a year ago. They will get orangy and sometimes (they claim this is part of the manufacturing process) you might have horizontal 'lines' across the shield which requires a replacement. Also, they have gotten a LOT more rubbery. The original ones were still a bit rubbery but they felt sleek, the new ones are gross. I grabbed my old iPod nano and my LTE and I touch both protects, the new LTE one is disgusting.
I'm looking for a replacement and looking around the forums and other sites everyone recommends the SGP protectors. The following doesn't matter specifically to the shield but its something worth noting: Zagg's customer service has turned to crap, sure their lifetime warranty is awesome but trying to actually ask about something is horrid. I sent a quick email to SGP asking three simple questions and they replied with THREE FRIGGIN PARAGRAPHS HAND TYPED.
Sorry for the long post just wanted to give some input. Here's the email exchange in case you had the same questions I did:

Hello,
I have been an avid user of Zagg screenshields for years now but recently their quality has turned to crap. Horrible customer service, yellow tinting on their protectors and that awful rubber feeling. A lot of my friends and the forum I frequent recommended your screen protectors but I have a few queries.
1. I live in a VERY hot area (Arizona, USA) and I know that your product description says no residue but I would like to confirm if this applies no matter the temperature the screen is at. Please, please please be honest with this
2. My product is an Evo 4G LTE and I know that early on a lot of screenshield makers (including Zagg) did not provide a cut out for the proximity sensor, I'm curious to know whether you have updated your design to have the phone work 100%
3. Which protector should I chose for the best scratch-proofness (oleophobic, crystal or fine)?
Sorry for taking up your time and I look forward to your reply. With Zagg I'm giving up scratch proofness and lifetime warranty. However that is nothing compared to the horrible support and quality of their products. Spigen will have my support for years to come if I get good answers
Thank you,

Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Spigen.com Customer Service Department.
Hi, my name is Diana from Spigen on Amazon.
It is no problem at all! Thank you for your interest in our products. I'd be more than happy to assist you with your questions!
Our screen protectors are not affected by the temperature and should not produce a yellowish tint. Our high quality screen protectors are manufactured with a hard coat so that it has a scratch resistance coat. This, however, does not mean that the screen protector is completely scratch proof, but it will not scratch as easily as most other screen protectors. I have been using the Ultra Crystal on my device for over 5 months and have not received a single scratch, despite the many falls my device has endured. Over time, the screen protectors will need to be replaced at one point, but should last on your device for many months without problems or tinting from the sun. If you do have an issue with our product, simply contact us at Amazon support and I would be glad to assist you.
As for the screen protectors. We have the Ultra Crystal, Ultra Oleophobic, and the Ultra Fine (Matte). The Ultra Crystal is a transparent screen protector, and our most popular, as it provides ultimate clarity and protection. The Ultra Oleophobic is almost the same product as the Ultra Crystal but it has an Oleophobic coating on top which provides oil resistance so that fingerprints can be wiped away easily. However, over time, the coating on the Oleophobic screen protector may wear off and would need to be replaced. The Ultra Fine is our matte screen protector. It is anti-fingerprint and will receive the least amount of scratches. However, because it is a matted screen protector, the resolution of your screen may be reduced. Of the three options, I do recommend the Ultra Crystal as it is my personal favorite.
We have also updated the screen protectors to have the cut out for the proximity sensors. We have shipped these updated products to Amazon for their inventory. However, if for whatever reason, you receive the older screen protector without the cut out, simply contact us and we will ship you the updated screen protector right away.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you.

just keep the defender on, and if it really starts to bug you then take the time to cut out or peel off the screen cover
Took out the awful defender screen protector and put the zagg one on there.
Much better

Zagg Screen protectors and the S pen. Or any protector.

So I'm interested if anyone has gotten a Zagg screen protector and how it interacts and feels with the S pen. Is there too much resistance or does the rubber tip kind of feel sticky on it. If you don't have a Zagg how does your screen protector feel with the S Pen.
It's crap. While the Zagg adds a relatively thick layer that can act as shock absorber if you manage to drop the phone face down, I absolutely hate it when I draw on Sketchbook. It's sort of deformable, and the S-pen leaves small ridges in the protector as I draw, and the more I draw, the more uneven the surface gets. It was frustrating when I had it on my Note 2. Clarity-wise, it's quite good for normal viewing, but even a microscopic amount of oil smudged across can ruin the experience. The glass on the phone itself seems more oleophobic than Zagg's protector.
I'm running without a protector on my Note 3 at the moment, so I'm trusting the screen to Gorilla Glass 3. Since I have a wallet case, it won't have any hard objects gliding over it when I'm not using it. Few weeks in and I'm satisfied so far.
Thanks for the input bro. Duly noted that's what I figured would happen. I guess I'll opt for a privacy screen protector then. It's cheap, useful and effective.

Only the polyurethane based protectors have that issue (Zagg/BestSkinsEver/GhostArmor/Skinomi/etc...) because they are softer. The iSmooth/Spigen type protectors don't have this issue at all.

I have the Spigen tempered glass screen protector on mine. Working with the S Pen feels just like writing on the phones screen. Id recommend not going with Zagg if you intend to use the S Pen.

I've had nothing but good experience with Zagg. I have the Zagg High Definition on my Note 3 and haven't had any problems at all. S pen works great, doesn't leave ridges as someone mentioned above. Of course I didn't use the S pen in the first 48 hours to give the screen time to fully set in.
I am liking the zagg protector.. only issue I am having is that I dropped the phone off the end table 8 hrs after getting the phone and there is a dent in the protector.. didnt self heal.. i filled out for the lifetime warranty and giving it until this saturday to request a replacement....
Zagg makes a tempered glass for the iPhone, I'm hoping they release it for the note 3 but they probably won't since there's much less demand.

i understand that iphone is 1 size (ok 2.. 4 and 5..) but for saying not much of a demand.. my local BB couldnt keep Note 3's on the shelf and neither can my local sprint store... thus i had to play the.. im there at the right time deal to get my note 3... so there is a demand...
Since I've seen $8 and $12 tempered glass screen detectors mentioned in the last couple of days I don't see any reason why you'd get a plastic film screen protector.
The $8 one ships from the US as well so it should be quick. I wish I'd seen these before I spent $28 for mine.

Zagg HD screen protectors are absolute garage, they have been back since their original Zagg screen protectors before they added "HD" on to the name. Actually, that was the only improvement that Zagg has made to their screen protectors in years, just the name. I don't like glass screen protectors due to how painfully obvious it is that there's a screen protector installed, mainly due to the gaps around every edge, speaker, camera, sensors, Home button, etc. Not to mention that your Home button is now recessed. You'll notice most people wanting Home button stickers have a glass screen protector, just to bring their Home button back to being flush with the rest of the screen. If you want a screen protector that looks invisible, ZERO gaps around the edges, and feels just like your bare screen does now, then search "TechMatte" on Amazon. They are currently on sale for only $4.95 for a 3 pack! Much MUCH cheaper than all of the other screen protectors which claim to be "premium", when they'll actually either just be an eyesore, feel horrible to the touch, make your S-Pen unusable, or drastically deteriorate the now gorgeous looking display! Plus, TechMatte also provides you a lifetime warranty! I guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied, this will become your absolute favorite screen protector you've ever used or seen anywhere, and will LOVE it! Once installed, I bet your friends won't even know that you have a screen protector installed, and probably won't even be able to find it after you do tell them there's a screen protector on your phone! I posted a review of it with pics (I tried to photograph it anyway) here in this subforum. Here's a link to them on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CK...r=1-10&m=AG8AYSVS7E5IO&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
The stock photo in Amazon shows the screen protector having a U shaped cutout at the bottom for the Home button, but it actually has a precise cutout for the Home button which provides coverage all around the Home button

I don't remember which thread contains the link to the $12 one, but if you read all the screen protector comments you'll find it. I do remember that it's identical to this one, and I noticed it because it seemed the same as my Mime at a lower price.

I've ordered from Fluffcat as well. Always very good service, fast and extremely helpful. Just look at his EBay feedback! Surely this could have been sorted out in private.

I agree with you on the zaggs but I think you should try the spigen tempered glass t.r I was skeptical since I've never used glass but it's amazing like nothing is even on the screen. Most importantly it works flawlessly with the S-Pen. I had major issues with the Zagg and S-Pen on my Note 2

I've used zagg on my note 1,2 & 3 I can't complain..not 100% fluid with writing but I would prefer having the protector since 9 out of 10 times I never use stylus..now that I have spigen tempered I don't worry about it..very smooth
