My baseband version is I9100XXLS8
and i used this site to check the IMEI number mei-number.com/imei-validation-check/ and it came out valid.
For some reason there is a slash / in my IMEI number and 2 digits behind it.

Given the issues, what you've already tried & the fact the phone has recently changed hands, I'd be calling the carrier (Despite data working).

Doesnt explain why it worked sometimes, also my friend said it were something wrong with it when i got it. I tried different SIM cards aswell. Even different carriers

See you didn't tell us that in your OP. That changes things. Well if there 'was something wrong with it when you got it', why did you buy it knowing that ? Take it to a local mobile shop.
If you want to go down the 'root the phone & start flashing CWM flashable modems to try & fix the problem' route, you're going to have a steep learning curve by the sound of it. If you want to do that, I've already given you a good head start with my previous sentence - you have a lot of searching/reading/learning to do. Whether this fixes the problem or not, you're only going to find that out if you try it.

[Q] Hard Brick - Will Replacing MB Help?

So.... my SGS2 froze all of a sudden while I was using it and it didn't respond to anything (even the 10 second power button press). Hence I took the battery out and tried to reboot it. It was stuck in a boot loop (this has happened in the past, where a restart caused the phone to not boot for unknown reasons. It feels like some memory chip in the phone is corrupted or sometihng. But it hasn't happened in quite a while).
Anyway, I was on ICS (WanamLite I believe) so I thought why not try JB? I downloaded the firmware from SamMobile and tried to flash it in Odin.
First attempt: Failed. Unplugged and rebooted into download mode.
Second attempt: Failed. Couldn't power off of took the battery out and bam! The phone has never woken up again since.
Now I can't get into recovery or download mode. Neither does the USB jig get it into download mode. Nothing. Blank.
I guess my best bet is to replace the main board?
(warranty is long over).

If it is a hard brick, JTagging may help. Or ultimately you could replace the motherboard. No guarantee that it would work though.

Well.... technically I didn't interrupt odin flash. At least I think I wasn't.... Because it was already showing "Failed".
Are you sure it's long over, warranty that is; SII's been out for 2 years this april may.
Anyway, ask a friend for a hand with the following:
Do the combo thing (DL combo) without the battery and ask that friend of yours to insert the battery just after you start hitting it.
Make sure the battery's got juice.
Jtag could also be the answer but you really need to see if you're hard bricked or not.

I had something similar happen on my S2. I was in the middle of applying a rom via either CWM or mobile odin when the phone froze and after a while turned off never to turn on again.
I sent it to a repair shop and to a contact in Samsung but it was proper borked. JTag job to repair it. I don't think there is anyone in Ireland doing that kind of work.
I kept my eye open for an S2 with a smashed screen. Got one 2 weeks ago. Swapped mobo's and was good to go. Essentially it was the other guys phone in my casing as it was locked to 3 network, had all his photos, music etc. I rooted, unlocked flashed my carriers stock rom and away I went.
Hope this helps.

Hi, yes, considering that I bought my phone in early June 2011, it's definitely out of warranty. I'm not sure about other countries, but here it's only one year.
Anyway what's this DL combo that you mentioned? A search on "dl combo" didn't give my any good results.

[SOLVED] Media Process Battery Drain

These didn't work:
I have tried disabling the media scanner (rescan media root).
I have scanned my pictures/music for corrupt files and found none.
I uninstalled the Download app which surprisingly worked for a while, but the problem has come back again after a week or two.
The three processes which are listed as possibilities are "Download Manager / DRM Protected Content Storage (I have none) / Media Storage" - I tried disabling each one but to no avail.
I tried rebooting in safe mode but nothing changed, so it's not a third party app.
I never had this problem when I was unrooted on stock, but I can't think what could be causing the problem.
The process is called android.process.media
Help, please?
Please provide more info on which GS2 model u have, what firmware/ROM you are running and whether rooted or not.
And have you tried moving Camera storage to External SD, and manually transferring all the files from DCIM folder of internal memory to the External SD?
"To err is human, to forgive is divine"
Sent from my SGS II
I have the international version, I'm on PAC ROM v22 rooted. I haven't installed my own kernel, but I think it's custom CWM based which came with the ROM...
I have camera set on external by default and have all my DCIM stuff in there anyway.
Could be a bug in the ROM then...
Have u tried asking in the PACman discussion thread? They could help u better...

Is there a DCIM folder in your internal SD?
Sent from the little guy
There was, but I deleted it. It just looked like cache files or something.
@immortalneo: Yeah, I've asked but we never came to any conclusion and even after trying another ROM the problem stayed.
I have the exact same problem... Tried everything you mentioned the only thing that works is disabling media scanner through the app Rescan media ROOT. However that's a half-assed solution cause the media scanner remains off till you re enable it.
Do the DCIM folder thing.....and keep both folders (DCIM), externally & internally.

Okay, no matter what I can't seem to get rid of this error. I've done a complete wipe and flashed a new ROM, but even after that the error persists. Could it possibly be some error which no software could fix?

Last resort..
Return to stock ICS 4.0.3 and see if it persists.

I might be different on your ROM but have a look at my thread here in case it applies:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39647217#post39647217
Make sure you only block the drmserver and see what happens.
Okay, I've flashed stock 4.1.2, so I'll try that out for a while with no apps, nothing in my SD card, no ext SD card and no SIM card. Let's see how that goes. If I have to I will go back to 4.0.3.
Edit: Seems to have worked, but I'll let it settle a while then bring back the apps, music, mobile service etc
Edit 2: And it's back again...this is ridiculous.
Media Process menace is always persistant intermittently no matter what has been done so far/tricks applied from this forum's members :banghead:
I still long for its solution since ages
search on google play "rescan media" u can disable scanner or scan again
Well, after going back to complete stock I can safely say the problem is gone (well, for now, who knows). No idea what the problem was but...glad I'm fine for now.

You know most problems do get solved by reflashing firmware. Sometimes those kinds of problems appear which even recognized dev's say that the solution is to reflash the firmware.
Now if you want to go fix a problem of which you have no knowledge about: would you..
a) Reflash firmware (you know that this will most certainly will fix the issue)
or
b) Spend day and night searching in the internet and fingering with your device like you have the time of the world... Most people dont have that amount of time.
So if your way is to dismantle the whole vehicle in search for a problem, then that's your way. But please don't disrespect others for their way to the solution.
BTW - These days, someone new who fixes the problem in any way by themselves is considered a victory

Take it to a local mobile shop. Will probably be cheaper than paying a service centre to fix it. Whether they're able to fix it or not is another issue - if they can get necessary parts or not; I.E if it's a motherboard replacement they're only going to be able to source a 2nd hand board if they're not an authorised repairer.

they say it's a boot loader problem . they've tried to fix it using the box but they faced the same problem which faced me , pc is recognising an OMAP4430 device which instantly connects and disconnects !
i've been looking through the internet since it was bricked and i couldn't find a sollution
If it was a bootloader problem it would be JTAG'able. It clearly isn't JTAG'able given you've already tried.
The motherboard needs to be replaced.

USB circuitry in that case. Either way, it's a hardware problem.

Can U tell Me how To fix it by my self ?
Or is it impossible ?
If you have to ask, you probably don't want to try it. It involves taking the USB circuitry board from another phone (I presume, this is what you'd do if you wanted to replace the motherboard yourself with a 2nd hand one; tho it may not be exactly the same process & you may not be able to do this yourself), and swapping the boards out. If you don't know what you're doing, you bork the phone beyond repair. Take it to someone who knows what they're doing. Or buy a new phone.
Edit - I've attached the SGS2 service manuals to this post zipped up. Have fun.

[Q] My phone seems to be damaging my battery :(

Hey everyone, I recently replaced my phone's battery, it got kind of "bulky" (I don't know if that is the right word to use but it just got fat, just so you know what I mean ). Anyway, I got a new one and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. I noticed that it was was getting drained in about two hours. I've tried some new ROMS around and the problem persists. I got to the conclusion that it's nor the battery neither the ROM, but my phone, I don't know if that's possible, so I'm asking here to see if somebody knows what might be going on with my phone. Also when it is unplugged, the battery icon shows like it is charging, and the only way I can turn off the phone is by taking out the battery; if I let the battery in the phone, it turns on by itself :crying:
If anyone can help, I'd be grateful, I have a Galaxy S2 GT-I9100

Please let me know if you have encounter such a problem before and I'll be thankful of you can help me
