That isnt very bad but closing apps also laggs
PS: Does anybody know how to stop s3 showing these tips ?

If you have s-voice set to open on double tap home button, when you press home once, s-voice waits for second press. Once it times out, only then do other home button functions occur.
So if your home button lags, stop s-voice being launched from home

Where can i turn this off?

Within s-voice? Or within language and input? I can't remember. You could Google it or search xda for it. I dont have touchwiz rom any more

You can try ROMs which is based on Samsung jelly bean update, and custom kernels which has many modifications

Double tap the home button, then when you get into S Voice, hit the menu button, and look for the "Double tap home to open".
Watch how much faster your phone is afterwards.

open s-voice> menu> settings> uncheck open via home key and all others!:good:

Try to disable "Window animation scale" "Transition animation scale" and "Animator duration scale"
to disable jsut go to setting>developer options (enable it first if it's disabled) then you will find "Window animation scale" "Transition animation scale" "Animator duration scale" click on each of them and choose "Animation off". You can also try to limit your background process on developer options, and you will see better performance!

[Q] widgetlocker - deaktivate homebutton

When i'm in the widgetlocker lockscreen and press the home-button i get kicked into the stock lockscren, although i deaktivated the future that allows the home-button.
And why does the home-button work like the power-button..? I mean, if the screen is off and i press the home-button, the screen goes on. Just like with the old Galaxy S.
Is there a way do deaktivate this? because it bugs me a bit
+1
Really think the stock lockscreen sucks...
It is kinda boring but I like the notification when you get missed call, sms and emails.
actually yes, the "missed" notification IS nice, however the sort of whole picture moving is so... I dont know - reminds me of Windows Mobile (although no actual reference) - just feels wrong to me.
Same "bug" here
If you press home-button once it turns on the screen.
If you press it again it unlocks the device.
Any fix? I want that power-button is only thing where to turn on the screen
and slide is the only way to unlock.
Good evening infedels widget locker settings, advanced, homehelper, tick everything there, select launcher you are using in the second option, homehelper in the third, now home button will not unlock your phone no more, sorry for my english, cheers!

in follow-up to this, is it possible to have the Home button only wake up the screen but not unlock it?
Thanks!

Ideal Buttons Functions/Layout

I'm not particularly fond of Samsung's default button layout and I wish it was this way (maybe some developer can hack it to make it so?)
Home Button:
Single Press - Home
Double Press - SVoice (Which can be disabled)
Long Press - Search
Menu Button:
Single Press - Multitasking (this is the most used button after home so it must be quick to access in my opinion)
Long Press - Settings
What do you guys think?
Menu button :
single press for multitasking - I don't use that. Scrolling the task menu is slow and annoying. I prefer going back to any apps by clicking on the apps icon on my home screen.

Task menu is slow cause of the long press, and that's exactly why it would be great to have that on single press

I think its slow because you can see what, 4 apps on the screen? PITA imo, I usually have so much stuff open that a reboot is faster than swiping it all away

[Q] How to set or adjust SGS3 locksreen display time / timeout?

is there a regular option or a trick (no app) to adjust the time the S3 lockscreen keeps lit? i am on latest SGS3 stock rom 4.0.4 (no root) and the lockscreen shuts off after about 5 seconds - which is far too short for my liking.
thanks!
am i the only one having this issue? (sigh)
I think this is normal, why do you have to look your lockscreen more than 5 sec. Mine is like yours. Just pres home button after 4 sec and you will have 5 seconds more.

well, i know it's "normal" and no bug. but it annoys me and even more so that there's no option in this "super phone" that lets me adjust basic lock screen settings. i guess this is an oversight by the devs.
Try other lockscreen apps

I'm using wigetlocker you can set the timeout minimum of 10secs

I'm sure there is if you have a rooted device. This is just how android works, doesnt matter what company, what phone, what version of android. Been like this since the beginning.

Known thing, use the search function. One thing that helps, disable s-voice, home button otherwise waits for s-voice command.

Home button lag

I upgraded to the latest siyah Kernel today and the lock screen wakes very quick now.
One thing I always note though even before the upgrade, when pressing home to quit an app there is a noticeable second or two delay before the app responds to the button press.
Any ideas why this may be and if it's normal?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
it is normal because the home button has to wait if you click again to open S-voice or not , so there is a delay.
you can try to disable "double click to S-voice" , i did , and this delay just gone!
yeah, disabling S-voice double tap works.
