gamecih gameguardian gamekiller problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
i have problems using all those apps with my xiaomi mi2 phone (android 4.1.1 miui 3.4.19). the phone is rooted using the default application LBE.
gameguardian 6.0.3:
the app gameguardian starts but the overlay icon dosen't appear in any game
gamekiller:
simply it does not open
gamecih:
a lot of time it doesn't open. When it is more gentle and opens, any overlay is loaded in my games. the only way to bring up gamecih is to configure an hotkey sortcut, but after a couple of use, something goes wrong and gamecih dosen't open anymore until a system reboot.
as anyone of those application work, maybe they use "a common layer" that generates problem on miui rom

same here

Game apps running background all the time...

Hi!
I noticed that free games like Stand O'Food 2 and Contract Killer : Zombies are running background ALL THE TIME. Even after a reboot of the phone, even after a force close with a task killer. They come back again, and again, after a few second only. So, are they some kind of spyware?
I find this very annoying, I can't stop them unless I uninstall them.
Could anybody tell me what they are doing background and how to stop them doing this without uninstalling them?
Thanks!
Tuc
Try using "autostats" from market. Disable it from auto starting.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Nice, it works like a charm! Thanks
But here is the thing: Contract Killer : Zombies is programmed to start:
- After Sartup
- Locale changed
- Date changed
- Screen on
- Shutdown
This is insane! Why a game need to start all the time for any reason, if it is not a spyware....?

You gave it permission to. If you check the permissions for it, under "system tools" it says:
System tools
automatically start at boot
Allows an application to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the device and allow the application to slow down the overall device by always running.
Quite a strange permission for an app which seems not to need it. Also, on the market you have to click "Show all" for you to be able to see that permission. Pretty strange...
Moreover, most of the Android users don't use a task manager so they don't even notice all those apps running background...
Since I use the Autostarts app to block all useless apps running background, my phone has much more available ressources and starts faster.
Everytime I get a new phone, I'll just disable everything after root. But maps.apk is the most useless ever process.

block apps from autostart

hi
is there any app that blocks another apps to start. for example if i close the facebook app and remove it from the memory with the task manager, facebook starts after 10 seconds again. i dont mean apps like task killer that kill the app after it started. i hope you understand my question
Sorry for my bad englisch
Autostarts, startup manager, and system tuner.
Sent from Failtrix, the crappiest phone on the market.
Rom toolbox I think does this
Sent from my SGH-T989 with Cyanogenmod 9 Nightly Power.

Android by design kill tasks when the resources become sparse. For this to work, an app must be able to request to be restarted once this occurs - the app (or more correct, "service") is sticky. This is why when you close the facebook app, it's restarted within seconds anyway.
If you are running Android 4 (ICS) or later, you can tell the phone not to autostart apps at boot directly from the Settings menu. Enter settings -> apps -> all, select e.g. Facebook, then click the button "Disable". Now it's gone, and for real this time! The disable button is at the place on the "Uninstall" button, and uninstallable apps are not possible to disable this way - but you can always remove them.
Some apps are neither disable nor uninstallable, though.
But if the autostart app is parental control r something like that, it wold be harder. Firstly the thing would not let you to settings. You could fool it when some settings notification appears, like there is wifi, by clicking on it you will get there without a problem, but you would not be able to delete it. To deal with it, I do personally recommend this: Root your device, get total commander for android (no, trust me, ES would not make it), open TC, get to mnt/asec where are stored installed apps files, find folder attached to that app, change the permisions that everybody could write in it, change ownership and group to some of your other apps and delete that folder. At the end, there shoul be emty folder with an emty folder in it. That should **** up the app so much that its not going to work anymore. Now you can do whatever you want.
Use Purify app
u can use boot manager module in xposed
I'm using clean master and it allows me to bock these app from autostarting.
It can solve by greenify pro smartly. You can google for greenify. After installing greenify (xposed installer) (need allow some feature) allow the modules it will work 100℅. If any errors message me on Facebook/n3xt2u

No external system type apps in MIUI v5

I have MIUI v5 installed on Tipo. Apps like Sidebar, NinjaSMS, JuiceDefender do not work, start. Ninja sms app starts, but sms does not produce popup. Sidebar when opened via configuration menu, works, but as soon as I exit the configuration, it ends as well. Same for juice defender. It simple does not work. Other applications work very well...
I suspect something to do with the permission manager or setting.
same problem
i have the same problem running miui on my note 2 ... it is really a nice rom but i can not use ninja sms or floating notifications on it did u figure it out? i have disabled all the permissions but no luck
No luck on that front
I've given up on MIUI, I could not find any way to make it work. However, last I checked, some form of Xposed could be run in the ROM. Maybe you should try that.

[MOD][XPOSED] Prevent Running

I have a forked update, Brevent, which doesn't require Xposed, nor root, nor unlock bootloader.
You can find it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/introduce-brevent-black-prevent-root-t3559151
Prevent Running was transfered to "Shanghai Falcon Network Co., Ltd." since 2.3.3.
This module was written for my GF, and accept donations.
Address: http://repo.xposed.info/module/me.piebridge.forcestopgb
How prevent running works?
After go deep in the android source, i find it uses flag when sending broadcast, so I hijack the IntentFilter's match.
And for other action, like force stop, launch activity, exit activity, I hijack them too.
So if any package is force stopped, it won't accept any intent filter...
However, i let input method, app widget, and laucher go.
- app widget, otherwise reboot is needed to show a widget in the widget chooser.
- configuration changed, otherwise cannot change lanugage
- account, otherwise sync and account won;t work
When the activity is launched, it can receive broadcast again..
When the activity exits by back key, it won't receive intent again, this function is added to android's feature.
So if you want to keep it running, please use home key instead.
And all the feature works for system package too, but the system package must have launcher.
Otherwise, if you still force stop it, it will cause FC (I suggest you use pm disable to do so).

For GB user, there is no greenify, and there is no change to back-port.
1). greenify depends system's launch control (http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-3.1.html#launchcontrols), which introduces in 3.1
2). greenify is not opensource, also the author and i live in the same country, even in the same city, however, he doesn't open source it.

Was looking for Greenify for GB from long...
Can somebody review this app? Is there any shortfall of this app in comparison with Greenify (as user, don't understand technicality )
I tried this yesterday on google play services app and it worked fine. I can't see it in running services, so i can say (but not sure for other apps) its working :good: Hatsoff @liudongmiao your GF must be very proud of u if she's a geek :silly: One question: If we stop for example hangouts app, will we receive messages as usual??

It shouldn't receive any broadcast, and never running, so you coun't recive messages.
Can you add a UI when you can choose apps to hibernate (like Greenify) and force stop them one by one?
BTW, this mod is superb...

No, nothing is wrong.
When you use back key to exit the application, the application won't receive any broadcast, however, the application will be cached, so the next time you open it, it will be opened very quickly. But before you open it again, it won't receive any broadcast.
However, if you want to the process be stopped, you can force stop it.

I observed this behaviour only with play services. For other apps, its working fine. So basically there's no much diffrnce between freezing and this except for application caching right? If we stop mms, do we still receive sms? A UI would be useful to look which apps are stopped and which are not. Great work man :good: BTW xposed for gb isn't updated yet. Any reason?

I don't know what's freeze, it doesn't seem to be a android's function.
As i said in the description, it doesn't force stop any application, but prevent sending broadcast to force stopped application.
For caching, it's a feature added to android's design.
For android's native design, when you start the application, it will be removed from the stop list until you force stop again.
But for me, i think its too complex to stop it, so i catch the finish, and if it's exited by finish, it will be added to the stop list.
// but it's in the cache processing list. so if you want to force stop it. this little design is useful for me to open a application temporary.
So if you stop the mms, i don't know whether you will receive or not.
The mms should be the core services of the android, i don't think you can force stop the services...
And i didn't forbidden the open the activity from the service, otherwise, it will cause FC of the application.
As i'm very busy, and an UI will take me some time. So there is no ui currently.
However, for the list, you can open the /data/data/me.piebridge.forcestopgb/conf/forcestop.list
For the xposed and other back-ported's module, it's not updated just because i'm too busy, and sometime too lazy .
You can read the description here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/me.piebridge.forcestopgb
And if you want to know more about the tech, you can read google's documetation: http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-3.1.html#launchcontrols

when i prevent Viber from running, when i start Viber, it starts but when you tao on some conversation it gives me force close. is this know bug?
Can we remove this setting simply by editing in config list (changing to false)?
Edit: I changed gms app to false and then opened the app to check which worked fine (i can see many running process in ram) and then i checked the list and it showed only that app in list. Is it alright?

true or false has special meaning.
true indicates this app is in the stopped list, and no broadcast would be send to the application.
false indicates this app has been marked in the stopped list, and when use back-key to exit, it would be in the stopped list.
I will write a simple ui, after the back-porting of xposed installer (completed), xprivacy (completed), and app settings (in to do).
im following this thread closely, and i want to test somethings, but before i do so,i have some questions.
the most important one its regarding about using this module along with greenify, what settings do i have to set in order to achieve the best of both apps, and then have a better experience.
Thanks.

As I have no ics+ devices, so i cannot say much things.
And if you want to try, you can wait for some days, I would write a simple configuation ui this weekend.
In short, if greenify works on your device, then just use greenify. But if you find greenify doesn't work at all, then try this one.
From design, greenify depends on http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-3.1.html#launchcontrols introduces in android 3.1, this app hacks some api to emulate the launch controls. This works on gingerbread devices, and the devices that launch controls don't work at all.

Most of the apps will get (force) closed when cleared from recents. Only those with background services need actual "force close" button press. As advised, Greenify might accomplish what you're looking for.

Greenify is completely automated and done in the background. You can set whatever apps you want to close whenever you want.
I don't know of anything else that is as effective as it.
Also I wouldn't really be using these anymore as Android is more than capable of ram management.
Spare ram is wasted ram

Well, that's the risk you take. Most of the killed apps will re-launch themselves automatically, either right away or after a while, when they receive corresponding event/broadcast message. You did not specify why do you want to kill apps in the first place, but generic approach:
1. Greenify (link) - it will kill an app AND prevents automatic restart of an app (doesn't work at 100% though)
2. Disable specific service of an app, so it won't keep restarting (app might be unstable - crash)
3. Uninstall the app and find a better alternative which isn't always running
