Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 cases/covers - Galaxy Tab 2 Accessories

Well I've had a look but there is no dedicated case/cover thread.
I'm coming from the Xperia z threads.
I just want to ask if there is a case
Which is preferably slim
Maybe water resistant (as I live in Melbourne Australia) like a zip up one
And/or easy to put in and take out of the case/cover as it will be half the time docked in the car and want to be able to take it off the dock and put it in the case/ cover easily.
Also if the case/cover can be used as a stand
Also I don't like the 360 covers.
Thanks everyone
Scrape this found the thread ugh.

Luv Tuff-Luv

Decided on the Tuff-Luv faux leather case for better protection as my 4 year old boy is always messing with my Tablet S. Seems to be pretty solidly made with just minimal exposed parts. Anyone else using it?
Btw ... anyone from Singapore/Malaysia interested to buy my Original Sony Tablet S Cover S SGPCV2? Letting it go cheap on eBay.
just got it from amazon.
it is a nice case indeed. It's reasonably priced and well made. but let the pictures do the talking
-edit- as aparently my post count is too low to link external pictures, they are hosted on my gallery gallery.twingo.rs/index.php/stuff/Sony-Tablet-S1/TuffLuv-Case/
maybe someone can link them for me
That's a really nice case. Can you charge the Tablet S while its in the case?
yes. you just have to leave the flip open. the tablet goes in thick end first, so easy charging
Is it more of a carrying case or is it meant for you to use the tablet while having its in the case?

Yes u can use the tablet while in the case. It is more of a protection case. Stands in both vertical n horizontal poaition.

Awesome I'll probably get it then.
Careful. The one on my pictures is just a carrying case. you can just slip the tablet in for transportation. the one ndrookua is describing is not the "TuffLuv". It's another case from the same brand.

[Q] Best Case?

I just got a Tab for Christmas and was wondering, what is/are your favorite case(s)? I'm looking for a case with a built in stand and good protection. Material and cost really don't matter.
I have had the official samsung galaxy tab 10.1 case for several months now and it's holding up nicely. Contrary to 3rd party cases, it fits the tab perfectly, not adding excessive bulk to the tab. You can stand the tab up or just have it rest at an incline. When completly opened it gives much better grip to hold the tab with one hand. You'll find several reviews on youtube if you search for "galaxy tab 10.1 case review"

Are you referring to the Official Book Cover? The only problem is the cost, is the case worth the ~$60 price?

Yeah... That's the one I was referring to. It is in fact a little steep at ~60$, but I find it's worth it because of the fit. The leather ones wrap around the corners and cover the sides, which actually may protect the tab better, but I just don't like the extra bulk... The galaxy tab 10.1 is a very thin tablet, I want a case that keeps it that way as much as possible.
On youtube one of the reviews compares the official case to the Belkin one, which gives a good idea of diffences in fit.

I really like it.
Clip case by Pyro Skins. I sent an email to him applauding the case and mentioned what MAY have been a problem with the case, and 30 minutes later I had a tracking # for a second case, no questions asked. You cant beat that kind of customer service.
Indeed the Official Samsung Book Case takes this one. Very functional and keeps the thin profile of the device. Only gripe is when taking pictures, since you'd have to hole up the front cover. But who takes a lot of snaps from their tabs anyway?
I do. Not a problem with Pyro Skins. Also thin and cheaper to buy.
I chose 360 case because of
A. Price
B. Don't have to leave case open in order to charge the tab. I want my tablet covered when left out on desk/table when charging. The official book case has to be left open to charge (I believe).

After looking at all the suggestions, I purchased the VIPERTEK Premium Slim Leather Case Folio with Built-In Standbest from Amazon for $25. I really wanted a clip case and I chose the ViperTek over the PyroSkins clip case for the ability to charge while the case is closed. Thank you all for your input.
I am using the Belkin - Ultrathin Folio & very happy with the case so far.
Drop Tech Series
I got the official samsung case and it's pretty awsome. A little expensive tough. A friend of mine was looking for a case for his tab and he found a similar case at dealextream. It does look a lot like mine, at least from the pictures.

iGadgitz Black EVA Travel Hard Case Cover Sleeve

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005HI4FPG
does anyone have this case? from what I can tell, the tab goes one side, the keyboard dock the other and it's a hard shell carry case.
however, nowhere to put your cables.
does anyone know of a similar case to this but with an pouch as well for cables? I know it's a TF101 case, b ut considering the prime is a small item it will fit this case easy.
I am looking at this case as well as I read about the reviews on the office transleeve having all the problems with the tablet and the lack of availability online. From the pictures on amazon it seems that its quite thin to carry around. I read a review somewhere maybe from it official website saying that this can carry a dock with the transformer so i assume this is okay.
i have this case! it fits very well and you dont even have to take the prime out of the dock. also, it is a hard case, so it protects much better against falls etc.
on amazon germany it was available immediately

Thanks for the info! just a quick question, since the tablet is very thin and so once you put the prime into the case does it get really fat or huge to hold with one hand?

of course its thicker, its not a neoprene sleeve. but thats why it protects well and you can still easily carry it with one hand! i really like it. didnt expect much for the price and was pleasantly surprised!
i also ordered a 10'' netbook case from case logic to compare, but the prime has too much room in it and its more of a thin neoprene, so its just scratch-protection...
I bought this hard case:
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
Internal dimensions now that I have it in my hand are:
Case: 26.8cm x 19.1cm x 3-4cm
Prime: 26.3cm x 18.1cm x 2cm
As you can see, it's a pretty close fit in theory. Have to wait 5 days before I get my Prime to confirm it's a good fit.
Alternatives to consider
Hey guys,
just like everyone else, looking for a proper case for my prime
since eventually (in the near future) I plan on getting the Dock, i'm looking for a case/sleeve
- looked at all the cased and couldn't find one I liked
- Finally found a case, but haven't had a chance to try it yet
it's the HP VX403AA / VX404AA it's a mini neoprene sleeve for the HP Mini netbook
- price is 32$ as low as I could find it. pricey but nice
- Has 2 smaller pockets on one side and a big one on the other side
- Plenty of storage to keep the charging cable/charger/micro USB with the tablet wherever you go.
- I'll let you know how it fits as soon as I try it, you can find it in local BestBuy's so if any1 is interested in trying it out before I get to it, by all means post your results.
Thank you,
Rodi

I ordered this iGadgitz case. Hope to get it next week. I will post some pictures when I have it.
I have recently purchased the envelope neoprene case by built. They sell several different versions but I bought the 9-10" net book version and the transformer prime with dock attached fits like they were made for each other. It also has a front pocket for your charge cables and charger.

This is a great case, my prime and dock lives in it when I'm not using it. It fits snug and feels well protected. There is a mesh Pocket inside which I justuse to keep the screen cloth, but you could easily fit a USB cable in.

Carbon Fiber Battery Cover

I'm looking for a Carbon Fiber battery cover for the I717. I see them on ebay for the N7000, but not the AT&T Note. Has anyone found one for the AT&T version yet? Its my understanding that the international cover won't work on the AT&T version.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Battery-Bac...947568?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4ab5a323f0
I know Ghost Armor has carbon fiber vinyl, but in the past I've been less than thrilled with the look. Any of the ones I've seen have looked like just what they were, cheap prints and the pictures on their site doesn't do any justice to it.
http://www.ghost-armor.com/Samsung/766.html
So, anyone know how I can give the battery cover that carbon fiber look?
That would look so hot on a white note

yes the n7000 wont fit the i717 case directly.... if i remeber correctly, some of the tabs on the n7000 were a bit larger, and one tab was in a differnet position...
BUT with some minor modification with my handy nail clippers, i was able to make the OEM white n7000 cover fit the i717 flawlessly.... fitment is perfect.....just a few tabs to slightly trim...took me 2 minutes
if you know how to cut your nails, you can make it work

Be advised however, if you planned on using NFC, the international versions battery door does NOT include the NFC antenna.

What about buying a spare i717 door and doing some surgery, and transplanting the NFC bits to a CF door?
I ordered a CF door. Where can I source a cheap i717 with the NFC bits? I'm about to do some science.
^ yes, the lack of NFC antenna on the N7000 cover is definitely 1 thing to keep in mind....
but its not something that I have use for at the moment so it will do for now

I think you can get a 717 battery cover in white for 24.99 on ebay. Or you can use the cover from Samsung that is called the flip case. Must be OEM to include the NFC stuff. Mostly $20-30.

Oh well, it's not like I'm wanting for things to do, just having that awesome honeymoon phase with a new phone.
Please post up when you guys get them.
Good point on NFC, but I don't have any use for it now, and likely won't in the near to distant future. I could easily see myself moving on to the Note 2 without ever using it.
I did vaguely recall something about trimming tabs, but A) I worry about the back cover not fitting as well anymore and B) I am worried about the tabs needed to be trimmed not being self evident. So, if anyone gets the N7000 covers and trims them, pics sure would be appreciated.
Here's some pics of an n7000 cover on my i717....like I said, it fits perfect with some minor trimming of a couple tabs...the tabs that need to be trimmed are very evident when compared with the i717 cover
Fits just as snug, if not more, than the original i717 cover
Been using it for the past 3 weeks without issue....
Sorry for crappy iPhone pics

What tabs do u need to trim?
Sent from the TermiNOTEr! ;-)
It's not on my phone. It's in the box of "things to find a use for later," and will eventually moved to the "trash," when I try to make it fit and end up putting a large gouge in it.
A whole ton of the tabs do not line up, some I trimmed and they worked, about half of one side needed to be removed as a whole.
Either I got a knock-off, a bad example, or my standards of secure fit are too high.

That "carbon fiber" back cover looks like its just a vinyl sticker applied to a stock battery cover. Have you tried heating it up with a blow dryer and peeling it off?
Form the picture, it looks identical to the ghost armor/bodyguardz CF vinyl wraps I've purchased in the past...most vendors use 3M DI-NOC (or a variation) material for their carbon fiber wraps - plenty of texture and holds up pretty well.
It's better than vinyl stickers, but just barely. It's not what I was hoping for. Oh well.
Wonder if the one from amazon I ordered is any different

Moko Portfolio Case

Hey guys,
If anybody is looking for cases, I'm using this one.
http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Folding-...1SCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337432342&sr=8-2
I like it a lot. It's very sturdy, strong build and the price is not bad at all. i would recommend it. Reviews are pretty good on it as well.. I'm not a big fan of folding cases but this one changed my mind. It's not those flimsy cheap ones they sell on ebay for $5. I had one of those for my tab 7.0 plus and it was garbage.
Ordered this same case over the weekend and am awaiting delivery. I do have the keyboard dock but see this as an excellent alternative for some situations. It's called a Transformer for a reason after all.

I concur, its a good case and since I couldn't find it in the Netherlands, I also ordered it through Amazon.
+ Very affordable
+ Sturdy
+ Proper screen protection
+ Fast delivery
+ Simple, yet stylish finish (leather-look, black)
But....
- I had to "adjust" the hole for the headphone. Originally it was placed 7 mm too low (when holding the tablet upright). But with a sharp knife, that is easily done.
- The cover is (when folded) hold in place by a small flap. I find that the friction is too low to properly keep the cover in place. So I improved it with some velcro. Now the cover stays were it is no matter how mucht I move the case around. Just make sure you place the soft side of the velcro on the cover (doesn't scratch the screen)
- It adds about half of the tablet in weight, which is no problem when its standing/laying on a surface of course. But just to let you know
-The 40 pin connector is at all times unprotected
- I am also thinkin of clearing some of the material around the on/off switch. I find it a bit too hard to reach (I am a lazy SoB, mind you )
- I will add a small loop for a stylus (not present)
I admit I am still waiting for the smart cover version like the one for the TF201. But until that moment, this one is it.
Cheers
I purchased this case and received it today. I really like it and it was a great deal. It's probably tthe best one for the money right now. Very well-made and fits perfectly. I especially like now the screen cover adjusts depending on the way you want to use the wedge stand and the magnets in said cover to keep it closed.
All-in-all, I highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a case and is not going to be using the keyboard dock.

2. what's the deal with carving out the headphone jack? has anyone else had to do this?

1. No, No damage possible. I had it for a month or so and havent seen damage on screen. I wonder this to, but it doesnt touch the screen. Atleat for me it doesn't.
2. I didn't have to. I used the headphones with no problem. No carving..
3. I can send a picture of the velcro but it's pretty strong. The tablet doesn't move down or tries to walk away from the case.

I have the moko case for the tablet and its great. The reason the screen doesn't get scratched is because of 2 magnets that are sitting on each corner on the far end of the case and when the case is closed there is still about a centimeter or 2 of clearance. Great case imo

Hi,
is it easy to take out? I use the dock very often and I'm just looking for a case for surfing the internet or watching films, so I don't have to hold the tablet all the time. But cases like the slim one make it very hard / annoying to take the tablet out.
Does the magnets affect the tablet?
One of the reviews on Amazon for this case said that the magnets have some affect on the GPS. I am generally reluctant to bring electronics close to magnets. Does anyone see any issues with the magnets and GPS?
