[JB 4.2.2][ROM]Mackay ROM 2.11.1 (1-Jun-13) - CM-based - Galaxy S II Android Development

I have been sharing my CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1 builds for galaxy s for some time in several threada, which culminated in the MackayROM. I continue now with JB4.2 for i9100, based on this ROM for galaxy s/optimus black. MackayROM is based on CyanogenMod sources, with several performance enhancements.
I have been building for my brother (who owns an i9100) already for half a year, but never took the time to start an XDA thread. This ROM is thus tested by my brother. This also means that solving problems is not that easy for me.
About Cyanogen: CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.2 (JellyBean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
If you run into errors, I may not be able to solve it!
If you know a solution to a problem, either upload it yourself to Gerrit Code Review or contact me through pm.
The ROM is based on CM10.1 with the following changes:
-Mackay kernel
-Set of cherries picked from gerrit (differing by the day)
-Some handmade patches I did myself to the source code
Feature request are OK, but remember:
1. I try to stay close to stock
2. I will not include additional apps, unless they can be build from source
3. The time I spend on features depends on how much I like them myself

FAQ
Q. Process x (e.g. mediaserver/phone) is eating 50+% of my battery, what should I do?
A. Go to settings>apps>all and find the app which is causing the battery drain. Then delete app data and reboot phone. If it does not help, you can combine this step with clearing dalvik cache.
Q. I have problems with Play Store FC
A. Please install a recent gapps package (see e.g. http://goo.im/gapps)

How awesome to have Mackay Rom for the i9100!
My dad has the i9000, on which i've managed the rom flashing/updating for some time now, the best rom i found was your mackay rom, so happy to see it for the i9100!
I've tried several roms for i9100, but have never really been pleased with any of them, especially since i tried Mackay rom on the i9000, the Galaxy S seemed to work better/smoother than my Galaxy S2!? Hopefully this will change with Mackay rom for i9100 =)

Damn I thought you bought or was donated a gs2,why, I have no clue at all..
Anyway I'm so glad to see you here, will test your build today when I'll get home and recharged my phone..
Edit: rom is smooth and fast. Seems like everything is working, at least the things I've played with..
Only drawback is when playing heavy games like "ckz origins",i will try and tweak things when it freezes and see if i can make it run big games..
Re-edit: "ram manager" app, set it to hard gaming.solved..
Thanx for the center clock
After 2 days of use battery Life seems good

I just had a thought,...
I used PBJ 20130218_t0ltevzw_kernel. This is labeled as a 4.1.1 kernel
I compiled from 4.2.2 source, though the propriety binaries may still be 4.1.1
So, I would recommend having your favorite most recent kernel on your SD incase you want to flash it over the included one.

I think so working on it now.
For safety I label each install script with the board to prevent someone from trying to install a maguro ROM on a i605.
But the i605 uses several repos... i605 to t0ltecdma to smkd to smkd-qcom.
I think that I need to change the board to t0ltecdma or maybe just delete the check.
Okay going to sleep, but 1 last attempt

[ROM] [4.4.2] Mackay ROM & Mackay kernel - based on Omni (03-Feb-2014)

I have been sharing my CM7/CM9/CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2/CM11-based builds for several devices. Now that I moved over to Nexus 5 as my daily driver, it is also time to mackay MackayROM for this device. MackayROM was first based on CyanogenMod sources, but I decided to move over to Omni as base for my ROM
About Omni: Omni is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Any thread using DevDB will 'suffer' from this issue.
See this post for reference.
The OP should probably adjust the thread title accordingly, as that will really be the best way to signify which device the ROM supports.
nice rom
Running this with slimgapps latest minimal package and its working great (was only laggy on first boot this rom is more or less as fast as cm11 imo). Seems you are maintaining this rom for alot of different models, would like to see some optimizations for this specific tablet!
EDIT: Said it was laggy without trying the rom out for long, it feels alot smoother then the cm11 builds I have been using for the most part however, it isnt as snappy when handling medium to heavier loads did a test on epic citedal on ultra high scored 30.6fps, stock scored 24fps, cm11 scored 33.6fps (this is all tested whit default settings nothing special turned off or on) Since benchmarks aren't always the same i retried a few times for a to check consistency and found the variation to be +-.07fps. Though this rom did experience some mighty lag on first boot has been fine since. Can't say I find the boot logo for this rom appealing though. I look forward to performance improvements and optimizations with newer builds!
I like this rom, in particular the customization that's built in - similar to Cataclysm in the amount of "cool, don't need Xposed to do that, either"
The most recent nightly I was able to find suffers from the video player bug that was introduced to CM around 5/21, and I noticed that it looks as if the minimum cpu speed is locking at 1400 mhz, another issue that a few of the CMs from that time period had.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52828804&postcount=146
Am I missing something, or did the mondrian get pulled out of the nightly update stream?
I tried reverting to 5/19 or so, and wifi won't come up....
Thanks for reenabling the build! I accidentally dirty flashed it over cm11 instead of wiping. It booted but was pretty laggy. Later when I have time I'll install it properly (but right now I'm trying a dirty flash of the current cm11 nightly as an experiment.)
Just a "Bump".
These rom's for the T320 are running smooth and should be getting more attention.

One thing that I noticed during the install was that it took only half min to complete ,but ended with success and no error messages.

Re-downloaded the file and tried again twice, factoring reset before and after and no luck.
Guess this ROM is not for me though

By flashing the attached zip file, you will gain 3.2 GB of space in internal storage.
This script has been modified from ninekaw9's script
The system partition size after flash is 800 MB.
Internal storage size is 13.5 GB.
Warning:
Repartitioning is a completely optional step. If you are not sure what you are doing, stop reading now.
You can't install touchwiz ROMs without restoring original partition table (see mentioned thread)
Each and everything from your phone will be erased in the process (except external storage)
EFS may get corrupted (In my case, it did. I restored it, and everything went back to normal)
I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone
Steps:
Backup everything
Install philz recovery
Flash provided repartition zip
After recovery reboots, go to mounts and storage, format '/system', '/cache', '/preload', '/data & /data/media'
Proceed with installing the ROM
You can flash recovery of choice after step 4.
P.S. I have attached philz recovery because goo.im is down.

To increase wallpaper quality:

Copy & rename wallpaper to /sdcard/Wallpaper.jpg
Reboot (everytime you change the wallpaper)
FYI, this works around android compression of the wallpaper
To increase album art quality:
Resize album art to 480x480 (you may use this utility)
Delete /sdcard/Android/data/albumthumbs
Delete media player album art cache
FYI, this prevents android compression of the album art

Thanks for the rom dev. One qs can u plz elaborate a little more on the camera module.

Should we use TWRP to install?
I just tried it with the latest philz and I get a lot of FCs on Start.
I wiped everything (Data,System,Cache,Dalvik)

What I'm looking for is an unrooted stock cm11 Rom like on.the new one+one phone. Full of features with no root as I can then use my banking app and sky go

I can teach you to build it yourself, but I can't provide builds because I don't think there will be much audience for it.
It takes me 1 full hour to upload a single build.
As for 1+1, I don't think I'll be able to port the whole ROM because of the differences of hardware.
Many people think that since it's using cm, it will be easy to port. But porting it is like porting any other proprietary ROM.

Don't think that could be because of recovery. I was using twrp from start, but this is not much different from Cyanogenmod.
I think that your download has corrupted.

Most ROMs use open source camera module since some time.
For some people it is unstable, not quiet as fast. Also the frame rates in videos is not always optimal.
So I switched back to use Samsung's proprietary camera module which I personally and most people think is faster, stabler.
By faster I mean the responsiveness, shutter speed.

this is what i was waiting for thanks a lot sir for this
My precise N7100 has been recently "lost in action" so I'm in dilemma what to buy next.
The best candidate, the only phone fully suitable for my needs is the ... well ... N7100.
I was really sad reading The OmniRom HOMEMADE is no more and I was thinking about some other devices like N9005, Nexus 5 D821 or LG Pro 2.
Now we have another potentially great candidate becoming the primary ROM for N7100!

Lock screen notifications is already there so no active display.
Multiwindow / App circle sidebar ? Since omni hasn't merged it, so no.
I'll only pick it after they merge it.
Regarding committing my work to cm, I'll do it soon, but I won't be maintaining a thread.

No such issues here.
Maybe the settings backup corrupted.
Delete data folder from external sdcard.
This will delete all your titanium backup settings. (Not backup)

I'll give this a try, thanks for building a "proper" version of CM for us! Does this mean you don't contribute to Omni anymore or is it just a "side" project?

I was waiting for someone to ask this
This is now my full & main project.
I'll continue maintaining omnirom & soon cm.
All the device tree changes that I make to this ROM will be submitted to omnirom & cm as well.
I will not maintain thread for cm.
But I will maintain thread for omnirom, but I would like if someone could take over the thread.

6. Highest SOT you achieved?
7. Any recommended kernel settings?
