[modem]sgh-i717att ucmd3 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Latest(05/02/2013) ATT UCMD3 modem in flashable zip.
Here is Download Link!

So can I flash this over any ROM? I think the UCMD3 is just a radio, but want to make sure before I do something stupid!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Edit: I was too eager to try it as a solution to my AT&T connection problems, so I just went ahead and made a nandroid, then flashed through TWRP. Worked fine after unchecking "Verify signature" or whatever and I'm able to connect to cellular. Just need to use it a while and see if I keep getting dropped.
(Installed this over CM10.0.)

Im getting a broken link.

Oh, whoops, the link in this thread is dead.
I actually downloaded the modem from this post in the Official JB thread.
Hope this helps. (Make sure to thank Jamie!)

There are several more modems this of course was just the most recent. But I believe some folks were having better success with the older modem/basebands for example UCLD3. So you may want to try another if this one doesn't work for ya.

not sure if you may get a status 7 from flashing a modem (don't think so), but if you did, update your recovery.

Most people have to try the modem to see if it has ill effects with their particular ROM. I just tried it with only-one-ics and it's working fine. If it doesn't work for you, you can just flash back from your backup or from another modem zip.

Stock untouched, deodexed, rooted, with busybox support.
You guys want a debloat, I can do that also.
But you can also debloat a rooted rom however you wish.
Please debloat it Santod :]

Exactly ! Isn't that one major reason/benefit for rooting ? That is, so the user can remove "bloat" ?
Know what will happen ? You'll create a debloated version and some will complain that you removed "that program" or "this program" !!
Noob question - Debloated ICS
This might be a dumb question and if so, please forgive me. I learned to root and flash ROMs in December, I'm currently running Liquid ICS v1.5 MR3.But I don't know a thing about kernels and I'm wary of flashing radios. So my question is - is Santod (or any developer for that matter) working on a ROM for the official ICS that you can just flash (without messing with radios and kernels and other steps)? Is that what he/they mean when they say they are working on a "build". I'm "ok" flashing ROMs and I'd like to have the "official" ICS, but if it requires that level of technicality, I'll unroot and download the OTA.
Any info you could provide would be helpful.

Thanks! I saw that when he posted it, but based on the instructions (as I read them) you have to flash the radio THEN the ROM. Am I not understanding the instructions? That was my concern - bricking it while trying to flash the radio.

Correct.
Flash the radio through bootloader.
Then the rom in recovery.

if you got as far as rooting and flashing a rom, then you can flash a radio. don't be afraid of it. it's no more difficult than flashing a rom, and much easier than actually rooting.
Thanks

There are multiple mirrors on the host server.
Did you try any of them?
Nobody else has been having any issues.
Not one report actually.
Try from a different browser and mirror.
Downloading via mobile rarely works and is not recommended.
I tried downloading it from my phone yesterday...no dice. I was able to download it on my computer and transfer it to the phone though.

Tried all different kinds of things. Couldn't do it on the laptop usign wi-fi. So then I used the actual phone and I was able to do it in about 15 minutes using 4G. Thanks!
One other question. If I flash your NuSense Unsense ROM (but don't change the radios) will I have the basic functionality of the "official" ICS? I love the lack of data drops but I HATE the "sense". Could I use an "old" ROM and a "new" radio for this stability?

Either place the md5 for the rom zip on the sd card, or remove the md5 sum check that the recovery is doing.
There should be a setting to disable the md5 sum check in Recovery.
MD5 sum is a digital signature that verifies that the file is complete or not.
Just disable the check for it and you can install without it.

Do u happen to know if that Rom or firmware or whatever is Rootable? I'm not exactly sure what all I've done to the phone today, but it finally works with LTE. i did some kind of recovery thingy from Kies and changed the APN settings to the Tmobiel stuff and I'm getting LTE. I'm now on an unrooted, fully stock AT&T Rom. Is Rom and firmware the same thing?

same here i get 4g but no lte
There is no LTE icon in this rom because its from Asia. The H+ and 4G icons are LTE.
ROMs don't usually install a modem.
I just bought a prepaid T-Mo plan (the $30 5GB/100 min one) to test out for a month before I decide if I want to ditch AT&T for good. I'm on CM10.1 with UCLF6 and I popped the T-Mo SIM in, got AT&T to give me an unlock code, and I'm up and running with Internet. It idles at 3G but when data is transferring it throttles up to H+ and seems to go reasonably fast. I don't care about maximum speed, just having a stable connection that I can stream music over. AT&T is fast and unstable for me, fast at home but crap at work.
Finally I got 4G icon on GT-N7005 rom for LTE after I flash the UCLF6 radio. Now the mobile network type is LTE:14. Thanks!

This is what I am using. I put UCMB4 i717 radio together with gt-n7005 amss file. It will say UVGL3 modem during flashing, but it is i717 UCMB4 radio. You will lose H+ speed in some area with no 1900 band, but it is ok for me in Bay area.

I'm on stock AT&T ROM and got it unlocked. Popped in my TMo sim and have LTE. 9.84 Mbps down and 2.77 Mbps up
Nice.:good:
Cleveland is set to get T-mobile LTE later this month or in June. I have Solavei, which is one of the MVNOs that uses T-MOBILE as its network. My question is, for my ATTI717 Note to get LTE speeds, will I have to flash back to stock? Currently running Blackstar X, which I rather like, but will flash something else if getting LTE requires it. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

I am confused here You are able to get LTE with stock ATT ROM, so why is there a need to a flash a different radio? Does the UCMB4 i717 radio change the band of the phone from 1900 to 1700?

[DEVS/Firmware] JSS15J.N900PVPUBMI5 update.zip

Hi guys.
Here is the update.zip for MI5. I have taken the liberty to remove the firmware (bootloader, trustedzone, etc) from this just incase Samsung is trying to pull something. I'm posting two versions, one with the firmware and one without. Appyling this update.zip caused my phone to not boot with the updated kernel. I had to revert back to the MI3 kernel in order to boot up. I'm assuming this is due to either root, or me removing the firmwares. That is why i'm labeling this as dev.
NOTE: DO NOT FLASH THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR PREVIOUS KERNEL AND CAN RESTORE.
NOTE2: You can safely flash the Update WITH previous kernel once it goes live.
Update with no firmwares:

When you are in TWRP, the "boot" check box, is the kernel. So, when backing up or restoring, as long as that box is checked, the kernel should be backed up (or restored).

We have been trying all day to get the update... It is not yet available for me or freeza.
if you would like too return to stock, and if you get the OTA. let us know...
we can walk you through pulling the files, and uploading, so either myself or freeza can make a flashable for everyone. I also spoke to Garwyn, and he doesn't have the OTA yet either. It also isn't posted on Sammobile, and it isn't available in Kies yet either...
Be patient. Obviously, we will be posting stock rom, odin restore, and update zips/. these things just take time.

[Q] att note i717 on tmobile

So I was given an galaxy note i717 att version the other day and I'd like to use it on tmobile. Anyways I unlocked the phone and flashed tmobiles radios/modems on it but I want to use a different rom on the phone. Will I mess up the phone if I put a rom on it because i changed the network modems?, and if not which rom should I use with my att note i717 on tmobile?

You can run any rom you like if you've flashed the right version of recovery. There are several 4.4.2 roms available if you want to run the latest. Depending on your area, you may get as good a signal with an att modem. Personally I'm running the BlownFuze 4.4.2 with the UVLG3 modem, with no major issues.

Yes, make a CWM backup first in case something goes wrong. Also, make sure you're running CWM 6.0.4.3 before you flash a 4.4.2 rom

Any JB and up roms, you will need to flash gapps again, but your apps will come back when you log in your gmail. Just read the OP for rom you use and there will be a link to appropriate gapps, though many are the same.
If your new though, I would advise you to read up a bit. Nobody is going to replace your phone if you dont understand and as far as I know, nobody has invented a time machine yet.
Welcome aboard, its fun, but nobody is responsible but you.

Ok. Thanks. Im really liking the community here. I think im going to try and build my own rom for my note.
I never changed the radio for T-Mobile on my at&t note. It works fine. Good luck to ya and welcome to the community.

Same here - never changed a radio. I have rooted and customized a few of i717 and the previous radio seems to either stay on or in some cases such as BeanStalk Rom it replaced my radio. Either way they are all on target with TMO.
Hi folks, I've beem looking forward to flash/use my AT&T galaxy note 2 on T-Mobile as well, can some one please share your experience and the links to flashing or unlocking it please?
