[Q] New OEM Replacement Battery Won't Charge/Boot - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I recently purchased a new replacement battery for my wife's S2. She installed it and it quickly flashes the charging battery icon when powered off but it won't boot. I can only assume it's a fuel gauge issue. The old battery still works fine when put back in the phone. I ran into the same scenerio when I had an S2 and got a replacement phone from Samsung.
Sadly, this isn't as simple as plug and play. Any thoughts on getting the new battery to work? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it's the exact same battery ? If it doesn't say NFC on it it may not work.

It does have NFC named on the battery. Perhaps it's a pirated item. I'll do some digging.

Galaxy S2 Turning off

Hello guys!
I don't know what exacly is happening... When I press my backcover in a determined place, my galaxy shutdowns.
Look the attachment image (I found on Google, and made a circle with the spot that I'm not "allowed" to press):
I have tested pressing this spot while it was turning on.... It's just turned off.
Does anyone know what is happening? Is it possible to fix without sending to Samsung?
My S2 has fallen ~5 times. But I've never seen this issue. It happened yesterday, and finally today I found the "spot".
Have you got another battery you could try? Otherwise, I wonder if it's worth cleaning the battery contacts.

Well, I tried to cleaning the battery contacts. But the problem isn't battery, because even when I hold my battery with my hands when press that spot, my gs2 shutdown.
I thought that might be the case. Sounds like you might have to return it to Samsung.

change the battery
Well, as I said, it isn't the battery. I tried to use my friend's battery. The same issue occured.
I'm think in buy a new backcover, but this time a aluminion one. Why? Cause it is less flexible, and probably harder to press and shutdown my phone.
I lost my invoice document, so I can't return to Samsung.
If someone know what is happening, I will try to use a teardown manual (ifixit) and disassembly my phone.

[Q] Has anybody had their keyboards battery expand

Not quite sure i follow but if you mean putting extra batteries in the dock i do believe that is possible if you have the soldering know how, i know you can fit in a hard drive so an extra battery shouldnt be too hard

Mine did the same thing. I sent the keyboard back to them, they sent it back saying it was fine. I called them and complained that not only did they not fix the issue, but that the keyboard INCLUDING shipping time and all was still under 4 months old. They had me send it back in to them, they got it, and within a week I had a brand new one waiting for me when I got home, with a notation that the original one had a loose solder joint that would allow the charging system to "overload" the battery pack and "caused" it to expand, but under normal usages the keyboard should not have done this, it "MUST" have been something I was doing.
I replied back to them that I had the tablet docked and charging overnight as I had used both battery packs to shut down points. They had me send the tablet back this time, and found that there was a "loose" connection between the tablet AND the dock that caused the issue with the battery. They replaced both my new replacement keyboard AND my tablet and extended the warranties for both.

I decided to not send it back because mine was only 1 month old when I sent it and it came back in horrible condition... i was not waiting 4 more weeks for it back.... and I dont want to reset my tablet because they don't care to do things right in the RMA centers

Seen this happen on a Motorola phone. Also read where Lithium batteries have more potential to explode and start a fire. It also warns against using external rapid battery chargers (not an issue for tablets) since it raises that potential.

[Q] prime is not charging?

I have not been able to use my Transformer Prime for a few months now (I'm in the military) and obviously the battery died. The problem is, I cant get it to turn on at all now. The power cable connectors look fine, and it always worked before this. Does anyone have any advice? My Prime is rooted and running Virtuous Rom.
I would assume something wrong with the power supply or port inside the device. I have a prime that I am parting out if you need any parts. The only thing that is unusable is the system board on mine (due to a bad flash).
Best of luck figuring it out!
Well neither the tablet nor the dock are charging. Would that indicate a bad power cord more than anything else?

Normally I think it has to get up to I think a 5% charge before it will turn on but not sure if this is what you are describing or if you have let it stay plugged in for some time and it is not charging. That would seem like a hardware issue then.

Yes, I would think so! It's a known issue. If the dock charged and not the tablet that would be anothet thing. Do you get a light in either when plugged?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yes, I was going to ask if you saw the little red/green glow coming from teh tablet On button (VERY small hole, easier to see in dark) or the mor obvious LED next to the charging port on the dock.
I checked and nope there's no light on the tablet or keyboard. Ill swing by best buy tonight and get a new cord. Thanks for the help!

Korean 2000 MAh Battery NFC wont work (?) Anyone have one?

I just got this battery from ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260899780576?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
NFC doesn't work. I found a picture of the Korean S2 and it seems the better contacts on the Korean model is on the opposite side as the i777. So it seem the NFC side of the battery is facing inward instead of outward when used with the i777 and I'm guessing that is why it doesn't work.
Anyone with a Korean 2000mah battery that can confirm that NFC does not work?
Very disappointing as the battery was not cheap.
I can't be the only one that bought the Korean battery for NFC and extended life.
Just need need to know if I'm correct and NFC doesn't work.
Anyone?
If you can I would try and get your money back. It sounds like it could be a knock off, as the only extended NFC battery that actually worked had the contacts as normal. Also what have you tried to do, read a tag, beam?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the reply...
I have tried both reading tags ans beaming to my other phone. It all works with. My original battery but not the new one.
Seeing pictures of the Korean S II I noticed the contacts are on the other side thus the batter would have to be flipped to be inserted. This is why I think the NFC side faces the wrong way when incerted in the i777. Both batteries have the small rise on one side where the NFC circuits (not sure what to call them), but when you insert the new "Korean" battery that side faces in instead of out as the battery has to be flipped.
Do you have a Korean battery?

I've gone back to the stock battery for the NFC functionality. I guess I'm going to look for and buy another stock battery, if I want NFC.
I asked the seller about it and he said:
Hello. Sorry for the inconvenience.
No problem, This is a Original extended back cover and 2000mAh battery.
The EB-K1A2EBSG is the Korean version of the Export Privé, and was supposed to be compatible with all Galaxy S 2 versions.
However, in each country, depending on the carrier that does not support NFC.
Samsung Electronics has confirmed this part.
Please contact the carrier on your smartphone.
For example, AT & T, AT & T, T-Mobile, Sprint and so.
Once again, Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks.
When I replied that my stock battery worked fine with NFC and I don't understand how contacting my carrier (AT&T) would help. THen he replied:
Hello. Thank you for response.
Because each country, depending on the version of the NFC-compatible problem occurs.
We do not sell International Version and can not solve this part.
We did guide in the product description. Please refer.
Thanks.
So he's pretty useless.
I have read that others have bought the Korean battery, but never mention NFC functionality. So as far as I can tell if you want NFC stick to the stock battery.

the nfc wire of the Korean battery is said to be on the other side, opposite to that of the att version. Thus nfc cannot work with a korean battery inside.

Yes, seems so. Unfortunately, it was posted many times that you needed the Korean batttery if you wanted NFC. There where even several people that had ordered the Korean battery and talk of having to modify the back cover, but no one cought on to the NFC being on the other side of the batttery. At least I saw no mention until I posted it.
I'm back to using the standard battery.

I have just caught on to this thread because I just picked up some NFC tags to play around with (until now, have had no other devices/cards with NFC). I also have the Korean NFC battery, and it's not working. I'll test the stock 1650mah battery in a few days when I return home from a trip. It sucks that NFC won't work--this phone with the 2000mah battery is pretty great.
EDIT: stock 1650mah battery works with my tags. So Korean extended battery definitely does NOT do NFC.
Can you remove the front thin layer of the battery and flip the nfc wire to the back? Since its inverted can the nfc work through the front of the phone?

Thought about doing that. It's an interesting idea. And no, NFC doesn't work from the front.
Guys, what is the best battery that won't need to change the cover?
Is there any 1900 or something like that?

Phone losing signal, freezing and going off =/

Hi
I've got a problem with mobile signal, phone freezing. I'm charging my battery to full, everything works good, and when it's 40-15% I'm losing signal and can't connect to any mobile signal, in few moments my mobile is freezing and I need to restart it, but after it's freezing again. To fix it I need to put it off, put a charger and than power on, after that it works, but it's really annoying. Any solution? Should I buy new battery or try something else?
Thanks in advance.
did u tried factory reset... or reflash a stock rom wid odin... may b a software problem..

I'm in Liverpool about a week, and I think I should buy it on ebay.
I've got the 2000mah Samsung battery, and it's fantastic. Personally I wouldn't buy one which isn't in the original packaging, and that has the model number EBK1A2EBEGSTD. So yes, the 2000mah batteries are great, but look out for those things.
As far as your testing of another battery goes, you could borrow one out of a friends s2 and test before forking out on one.
