[Q] Volume Button not working - HTC Radar

After Rebooting the HTC Radar yesterday, it reboots every time in "Serial Mode". There are some options on the Screen like APPSBL, Image SRC and Factory Reset". Every time i long press the Power Button, it comes back to this Screen. Today in the Morning i preset Power + Volume Down + Camera Button and it boots up normal. All Data are there, but i cant use the Hardware Volume Buttons anymore. If i press this Buttons, nothing on the Device responds.
Does anyone have a idea, what i can do? The rest of the Device seems to work ok.

Now after some days, they work both. First only the volume down, some days later, also the Volume Up. I think there was some steam in the shower which disfuncts the buttons. but thx for your suggestion.

phone freze issue

Today whilst I was out shopping I went to listen to my music which started fine then I tried to go back to the home screen whilst the music was playing (I have done this numerous times without any issue) and without warning the music stopped and the phone 'froze' I tried to hold the power button to force it to shut-off but it didn't work then I tried the soft reset (Vol Down + Power) but that didn't work I then tried vol up + power also didn't work, I avoided the hard reset (vol down+power+camera) because I was not at home and didn't want to muck anything up so out of chance I tried Power+Camera and within 10secs it was rebooting. The funny thing is I cannot find anywhere that explains what Power+Camera does so does anyone on here know?
I have this as well. While listening to music the phone will freeze completely. On mine, however, it works with only pressing the power button. Hold it for about 10-20 seconds, and it reboots.

Then maybe when I tried just the power button I didn't hold it down long enough and then when I tried with the power+camera it ignored the camera button and only registered the power button and that time I held it down long enough for a reboot

That's possible. I have never tried power+camera. Don't know if it is a key combination with an actual meaning... (With meaning I mean for example power+vol up+camera = hard reset)
Just had mine go that was downloading Zune music and playing at same time. Hold power off for 10 seconds and reset good as new.

Atrix boot loop

I got an Atrix from a friend who was having problems with it.
I tried turning it on and it stays tuck in a boot loop with the "Dual Core Technology" screen.
I tried a couple of key combinations to see if I could get to fastboot but nothing works. So far I've tried the following combinations:
1. holding the volume up button while powering on
2. holding the volume down button while powering on
3. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then pressing the power button
4. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then letting go of volume down and pressing the power button
5. holding power and volume up button while putting the battery in
I also tried this. After holding down the volume up button and pressing the power button, i tried hitting the volume down button once and then hitting volume up, hitting it twice and then volume up, 3 times and volume up, etc. etc. and then plugging in the phone to the computer, just in case the fastboot menu was there but I couldn't see it, but that doesn't seem to work either.
As it stands right now, all I'm getting is the boot loop. The phone had been sitting around for a while so I'm not really sure what the history is so all I have to go off of is what I have in front of me.
I'd appreciate any help in the matter.
Can you tell more history of the phone?
Is it rooted?
Is the bootloader unlocked?
Which ROM is it running if it's running one?

I'm pretty sure its not rooted and almost certain its the stock rom but I have no idea about the bootloader. My friend is not very tech-savy so I'm guessing that the bootloader is locked.
I have no way to verify any of this. All I have at this point is the phone that sits looping at the "dual core technology" screen.
If you have any ideas about which way to proceed from here, I'd greatly appreciate it!
What exactly is happening (down to the last detail) when you boot while holding Vol(-)?

When I have the volume down button pressed while booting, the green led stays on for 4-5 seconds, then the phone boots to the dual core screen, it'll stay there for about 5-7 seconds, then go to the M logo with the ripples and then the screen goes black for a second and then it loops back to the dual core screen. Only, this time, there is no delay between the 'dual core technology' screen and the M logo with the ripples.
Try this:
1) Remove battery
2) Replace battery while holding volume down button
3) Navigate to recovery
Should get you out of the loop.

Maybe the easiest way to get make it work again would be to flash the original stock rom with RSDLite.
It's very easy, you just need to connect your phone via fastboot ( when powering on hold vol(-) key until it says fastboot), then press vol(+) and the computer will detect it.
Just remember to flash the correcto sbf for your phone, otherwise you will have another bootloop.

Where do I get the stock rom?
How about you do some searching on your own for a change?
This time search for fruitcakes. That's the stock ROM.

Kernel crash

MY KERNEL CRASHED. I was minding my own buisness, downloading 6 or so apps (probably not a good idea) and then i opened on of the apps (called unpossible. my phone's (LG Optimus G E970) screen went black and suddenly i was looking at a screen with the text at the top saying "Kernel Crash!"
the whole screen is black except for the white text.
the only options are to go into download mode, reboot, and fast reboot using the volume up key, volume down key, and power buttons respectfully. i tried each one and nothing so far has happened. personally i think this is REALLY BAD and it should be fixed.
SO FREAKING HELP ME. would the full text help? please help me :crying::crying::crying::crying:
My rom is MIUI 4.3.something and it says something like demigod crash handler. I have Philz touch recovery installed.
No big deal unless it happens repeatedly. Volume key functions are reversed from what it says on the screen. I think it says volume down to reboot iirc. Hit volume up.

lol I've pressed every button but nothing has happened. IT IS A BIG DEAL! don't question it. any more suggestions? :fingers-crossed:
Ok never ran into one that wouldn't reboot. Can you get it to force-reboot by holding the power button for 10 seconds or so?

Question Sideload Issue

Sideloading latest update to Pixel 6, got to "reboot" phase and rebooted. This time another "reboot" option came up "cancel, latest update failed to complete". Without thinking I "rebooted" and now have a phone sitting here with a black screen and the word "Google" in bright colors. It has been this way for over an hour and doesn't respond to any button presses.
1st time in this situation - suggestions appreciated - 1st time posting here - hope I did it right
Enter recovery and flash the full factory image using adb.
Hold power button for about 30 sec.
Thanks for the replies
Phone seems to be locked - no response from any button, or button combo pushing - have tried all.
I think this phone is bricked

I think you have to hold the power button until it hurts your finger. That's what I have to do on my Fossil to get it to come back on when it dies. Make sure it's plugged in also.
I held the power button and several other button combos - nothing - phone is dead - new one ordered - thanks for the replies.

Mine was sitting at the Google screen yesterday too after flashing some modules, this is the only way I got out of it and into fastboot. Might be too late for you but maybe it helps someone else since JUST holding Power Up doesn't do anything.
Power + volume up should shut it down
When the screen goes black press power and vol down, that'll bring you to bootloader.
When it was at the "GOOGLE" screen I tried power + volume up, power + volume down, just power, just volume up, just volume down - nothing.. At this point I declared the phone dead and took the screen off . This was my 1st time taking a cell phone apart.
I appreciate all the replies I got to my situation, lots of knowledge on this forum

Turning on Samsung Phone without Power Button

I tried turning on my phone (Galaxy S20FE) by plugging it into my PC with a USB cable & holding down volume up & down buttons. The phone only had volume buttons & a power button, so now that the power button has fallen out, I only have the volume buttons https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/ .
Anyways, after I tried this, I get a warning, "A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel. Volume up: Continue ; Volume down: Cancel (reset phone) ; Side key: Show barcode."
If there's an option to reset phone, why isn't there an option just to restart? When I click volume up, it gets stuck on a downloading screen. It says I can cancel & restart the phone by holding down the power button & volume down, which obviously isn't something I can do. I got out of the downloading screen by unplugging from PC & waiting a while.
What are my options?
Welcome to XDA.
Repair or replace the assembly. Part of the core functionality of the phone... you need it.
If the battery is older then 1 or 2 years replace as well. Make sure to replace the back cover seal to preserve waterproofing.
Have a good repair shop do this if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

1. Use a blunt pin or something like that to press the power button area.
2. The options you see by holding down the volume buttons whilst connected to the PC is expected behaviour. You can press Volume Down button on that screen to cancel the warning and restart the phone.
'Reset' here means restart. It really is a wrong term to use and is confusing. Reset means to undo user changes and restore something to default state.
XDA should issue a clarification on this term instead of 'brick', whose usage has been far less confusing and fairly clear.
