i don't know what i did. bricked evo 3d - HTC EVO 3D

So i am stocked evo 3d ics 4.0.3 sense 3.6 s on and i unlocked bootloader and rooted hboot 1.58 and i tried flashing cm10 wild for the night and now i have bootloop and idk how to return to stock ics

You're not bricked, you need s-off and then to down grade your bootloader to run cm10 on the evo 3d. If you do a full wipe and flash a Rom based on ics you'll boot fine.

that is fixable, you have to do s-off
or relock the boot lodaer and run a ruu. I will take your evo 3d if you can't get it working lol.

I relocked bootloader... connected usb it now said fastboot usb i have run about 10 diff Ruu's and they all give me error and i am on S-on Hboot 1.58

then you need to get s-off. your phone is far from bricked. If it was truly bricked it wouldn't even be able to bootloop

an idea on how to get s off minus the wire trick

ok update i got it to boot into a rom... i am using a harmonia evo v rom all i had to do was pull the boot.img from the rom I flashed flashed. Put it in my folder that contains adb and fastboot and use fastboot command fastboot flash boot boot.img it worked!!! But now i wanna go back to complete stock

I will take it
I will take the HTC EVO 3D off your hands. I have mine S-off and LOVE it! I am sorry you are not getting yours working. I know how it must feel. But really, I would be glad to take the phone off your hands.

see, never assume its bricked unless you can't do staple commands(things like fastboot flash recovery.img) or it won't even reach the HTC screen.

silverneedle does not work on 2.3.4 roms.......now if you are unlocked pull the boot.img from viper's rom and flash it through fastboot. then boot recovery through fastboot (make sure red LED is on in recovery) then flash vipers rom again. and u will be good to go
Hope this helps.......

He can do it that way or just copy the viper boot.img from the rom put it in platform tools folder wipe everything in recovery. Adb reboot bootloader then fastboot flash boot boot.img then go to recovery flash rom and he is sitting pretty lol.

Help me bring Evo 3D back to stock, HBOOT 1.5 2.17

I have a secondary Evo 3D on my account that recently took a crap. My friend that was using it took the OTA update and it caused it to be updated to 2.17 but also HBOOT 1.5. So from there I unlocked it via HTC unlock method and installed SupraROM. I don't know the exact details but the phone became stuck in an infinite reboot mode. I tried to do a wipe and install the latest MeanROM but when it would boot the battery indicator would show a red triangle with an exclamation point and reboot within 10 seconds. I swapped batteries with a working 3D so I know it's not the battery. I tried downloading a stock 2.17 rom PG86IMG but it won't recognize or install in bootloader or TWRP (I've tried multiple zips). In bootloader it still shows S-ON and then ***UNLOCKED*** in pink up top.
What would be the best way to recover this phone back to 100% stock? Is it bricked or can it be fixed?
You will have to re lock the bootloader first. From fastboot, type "fastboot oem lock"
After the bootloader is re locked, it will allow the PG86IMG.zip to update the phone

EDIT: Nevermind, delete.

I second this!
Can you go back to STOCK without having to plugin your phone to PC? because my device cannot be recognized!
If you're Hboot 1.50, you need the pc to recognize the phone to use fastboot.
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to flash kernels/boot.img files that are part of ROMs.
(There is a way to use FlashImage app for the kernel beforehand if the phone will boot to the OS).
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to format/restore a backup (or the kernel won't get loaded).
You must use the fastboot command to "relock" your phone.
You must "relock" your phone to run the stock RUU.exe's and stock RUU.zip's (PG86IMG.zip).
If you can't get the pc to recognize the phone, try a different PC and especially try SEVERAL usb cables as these tend to go bad.
Additional "Detail" info that may help is in the "guide" in my signature.
Wait where can i get the .zip?

Please Help, Evo 3D won't boot pass the htc logo

So I tried flashing MeanRom the ics version onto the Evo 3d, and it flashed it. But every time it booted into the lock screen it rebooted itself. So I tried going back to the back up I made. But did not work, tried flashing a different rom but did not work also. It will go into recovery which was twrp but switched it to Ext4. So whatever I try it will just go into the HTC logo and get stuck there. I am at a loss, Please Help.
I will keep trying, but I'm running out of ideas
it does have s-on
hboot 1.50.0000
u r s-on so u need to flash the boot.img by the fastboot

I had this exact same issue after trying to flash Myn's ICS ROM with Touch Recovery on 1.5 s-on..How I was finally able to fix it was to delete the 4 ext folder off my SD card. Then I booted into fastboot and pushed TWRP recovery back onto my phone and flashed a gingerbread rom. If you need help pushing the recovery via fastboot, this thread is the answer. Be sure to give JTNiggle some thanks.

Doesn't EXT4 Touch Recovery take care of that for you? That was my impression. Off topic, I know..
evo rebooting
yes 4ext recovery takes care of that and you guys should be using it and make sure you have smart flash enable
I did try flashing a gingerbread rom with twrp but didn't work, which is why I flashed ext4
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Well I used the dumlock method, which should have helped me flash the rom without manually going into my computer to flash via cmd right?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Happens to me too!
To flash a new ROM, go to your computer, Command Prompt , type in the direction of your recovery. ex= cd\evo3dTWRP, then type in "fastboot boot recovery.img (or whatever the name of your recovery img is), press enter and your phone should boot into Recovery. Wipe all data, then flash ROM.
BTW: Do you have Smartflash Enabled in 4EXT,?
Well bootloader is working and the recovery is too, I used twrp but noticed it wasn't working so I flashed 4ext. But for some reason it won't boot up roms (of any kind) or even restore my backup. The recoveries will restore or flash the rom. But once I reboot the phone it will just get stuck on the HTC logo. Yeah smartflash is and was enabled.

3_PG86IMG.zip fails (Main version is Older)

Any advice? thank you
If you accepted an official OTA update, then you are likely now stuck in Hboot1.5-Hell. (I made this mistake many moons ago.)
You can try one of the many methods to downgrade your HBoot, but I don't know how that works with the official ICS update.
Sorry.
thanks for answering
hope there will be a solution soon
not much of a problem still can flash any ICS ROM Unless Sense 4.0

That error could mean the update put your bootloader to stock I'm not certain of what your capable of doing at the moment but I do know to unlock the bootloader for hboot 1.5 you had to use the HTC unlock method and maybe you'll have to use it. I'm not an expert so this may not be the case but keep in mind you said your hboot is at a different value than previous to me it would only make sense to use the HTC method to unlock reestablish root the use the wire trick to get s-off. 1_ you tried unlimited.io and it didn't work? Thats surprising to me.
2_ have you tried booting recovery from fastboot and flashing a gb rom? Fastboot boot recovery yourrecovery.img
3_ You can run an older ruu if you change your main version, but it still won't lower your hboot, your phone says its version "x.x.x.x" and the ruu is lower so it won't flash.
4_ you will never be able to lower your hboot unless you use a downgrade method like unknownforces brick/downgrade. If you put a lower hboot in the newest ruu, it won't run because you've broken the HTC signature. Id try the wire trick again if I were you.
Question, why did you s-on? I've taken ota's with s-off and as soon as I see the new hboot I just reflash the engineering hboot.
I have ~ the same problem as friend.evil, although he says he can run roms with Sense < 4, (if i understood correctly) while i can not.
I did try the lastest GB (provided by anryl) PG86IMG, with no luck (device always stuck in boot loop), but i do not have any goldcard (nor could i find one for evo 3d, but i did not google for it that much)
I am not sure about what you (anryl) mean by « official pg86img with changed older hboot ? » ?
Would an ICS RUU solve the problem ? I will probably also try to downgrade hboot if no other suggestions pops up =S

I don't mean to be insensitive but if you s-on'd and then took a new ota then youve got a problem on your hands. An older ruu with an older hboot will do you no good as it won't flash unless you change your main version, and even if you do that it won't flash an older hboot, just an older system (gb). You should go ahead and check in to downgrading.

Gotcha, well you should consider downgrading to get s-off. It's much more trouble free than s-on. Are you gsm or cdma?
NVM, dumb question, lol, if you took an ics ota then you're gsm
Edit... After reading your post in the link provided, is say that an ics ruu would fix u up. I'm cdma so I wouldn't know where to find it at.
Thanks for you suggestions… But still, i don't understand why downgrading should be necessary : why would flashing a rom, stock or not be a problem for the bootloader ? Can we not write to system or flash the boot partition anymore (from fastboot, using fastboot flash boot boot.img ?) in 1.53.0007 ?
(And indeed, gsm forgot to mention, sry)

You might be on to something there, some hboots don't accept commands that others do. I would think that if you changed your main version and then ran a gb pg86img, it would get you back to gb but it won't change your hboot.
Have you tried booting a recovery from fastboot with fastboot boot recovery.img?

Is there a possibility for a GB ROM to work on hboot 1.53.0007?

Bootloop.. And softbricked! Helpp

hey everyone!! i really need u guys' help, my phone is either softbricked or stuck in bootloop right now. heres what happened, i have gsm evo 3d and i just got it s-on. everything was good, was on stock ics rom with superuser. made a backup using 4ext recovery so i thought i was good to go and tried flashing a sense 4 rom. after flashing, it got stucked in a bootloop and i later found out that i have to flash the boot.img. and so i did, but it didnt help. so this is where i panicked and went wiping and formatting and tried restroing the 4ext recovery backup i made and now... its stuck in the htc logo. means i soft bricked it?
If you can still get into recovery, you are ok. Maybe try to flash a sense 3.6 Rom (flashing the boot.img separately).
I also recommend getting s-off as that makes flashing easier.

As it has been said if you can get into recovery you should be ok. Flash a non ICS Rom.
And you'll get past the boot loop. To flash an ics Rom get s-off that hay you'll have no problems. Saying that if your stock ics you might not be able to downgrade your hboot ansld therefore you can't get s off.

I see that coal is offline so ill try to help a little. The reason you bootlooped after restoring a nandroid is because you're not s-off and you didn't boot recovery from fastboot, you couldn't write to the boot partition. I'm gonna take a guess and say that your boot is corrupt. To get past this. You need to boot a recovery from fastboot. Do you know how to do that? Do you have adb set up?
Take the more useful advice.... Ignore this. It's probably way off ....
How did you format your sd card.
If you can get to your recovery, I presume you can as you flashed the rom.
Mount USB storage in CWM or whichever recovery you have. You can flash a Rom as explained previously and it will boot fine.

Android debugging bridge. Runs on your phone and computer, you issue commands through your computer. Put simply, yes like command prompt.

Here is a link to the RUU's, make sure to get the one for your phone. I saw a lot of GSM RUU's but i dont know what carrier you have.
Here is a pre packaged adb installation kit.
You'll need adb installed to use the RUU because you're unlocked and it'll only run on a locked bootloader.
Once you get it installed, you need to find a recovery image. Put the recovery image in the same folder that adb and fastboot are in (platform tools folder) and rename it to recovery.img. Hold shift and right click in that folder and choose to open in terminal. Put the phone in hboot and plug it into the computer. Now Press power to select fastboot. Then type
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
You should now be in recovery and you can flash whichever rom you want to, or restore your nandroid.
