I just got my phone yesterday, coming from Galaxy S3, and am having an issue with the headphone controls.
I've looked for other posts but don't see any resolutions.
Here's what's happening:
If no music program is running and I press the button on the remote, it starts the music program (google music) and plays a song.
If I press the button while music is playing, it pauses/resumes the song.
If i double press the button while music is playing, it stops the song and dials the last number.
If I i plug my 3 button Galaxy S3 headphones into the HTC one, all 3 buttons (Previous, Next, Middle button) work.
How do I get the stock HTC One headphones to be able to skip to the next track?
download "headset button controller" from play store

So i have 2 sets of headphones with mic and a button on them (different types) and i want to know how you can control what that button does.
Right now, it can :
answer calls when a call comes in and i press it once.
When i am in a call, and i press it once it mutes the call instead of hang up ( I want to be able to hang up!)
Play/pause music in meridian music player with 1 press
Skip song in meridian with 2 quick presses
previous song in meridian with 2 slow presses
So how can i make that one press during a call hang up instead of mute the microphone. is there an app or something that helps control stuff like this? i know when i had windows mobile there was an app that let me even configure even 3 consecutive quick clicks on the headphone button to launch an app or something. is it possible on android and the eris?
thanks for your help in advance.
forgot to add, i have a droid eris with kaos froyo v29
Usually those 3rd party headsets dont have any options to configure it to what the buttons do, if it was like a verizon headset or bluetooth piece it may have more configuration options.
Hello,
I'm using the MH500 headphones that came with my X10. I was wondering if there is any information or a list of press sequences available on how to control music playback.
For example, what press sequences are recognized by the X10 to control music, or would that be specific to the music player I'm using? I'm using PowerAmp atm.
So far I can perform pause, play and next by doing a long press and double pressing the button. Is there a way to go previous, fastforward, rewind?
Thanks,
W.
So on my Hero I could long press the volume buttons to skip the song without turning on the screen, can't seem to find a way to do this on the SII, any ideas? Or is it just not possible?
If you're using the stock earphones just long press the button on them. Works in poweramp at least.
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately I don't use the stock headphones.
On my SGS3, when listening to music, I have no option to skip a song via headset (the original ones) it just increases or decreses the volume. That's really weird for me. On my old HD2 I was able to control die music whith clicking up or down and with a long click (like click and hold for a sec) it skipped a song forward or backwards. That was pretty nice. I really miss it, but I would be even fine with skipping the songs instead of changing the volume on my SGS3
just doubleclick on the "play/pause" button
for all the others, who want the skip button on in-/decreasing hardware buttons: here is a workout for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1872747&highlight=playlist it's really helpful
So every time I try to skip a song while running , I press the button, swipe left and change the current song only to notice that my activity has been paused. Any solution for this?
Long press for volume up or down on headphones will skip track. At least my headphones offers that.
