[Q] Lost or stolen S3, blacklisted but what is available to to view - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I recently lost or had stolen my S3. Its on t-mobile uk. Its been reported and blacklisted. Unfortunately due to the battery nearly dead and having it blacklisted and maybe the sim removed i could not track and wipe via Samsungdive. Could anyone please advise what will be visible on the screen etc. T-mobile have said only the phone connection, mobile internet and sms are essentially blocked. Im concerned about other data such as already downloaded emails, texts ect being visible and navigation around the phones file system being possible. Would someone be able to look at email apps(system default, gmail and yahoo) or the text app on the phone? Also if a new sim is inserted, would that by any chance effectively create a new profile thus preventing anyone from viewing my old emails and texts etc. I have changed all my passwords. However im thinking of transferring all my emails to new email accounts, deleting the emails from the old accounts and setting the passwords for the old email accounts back to the same as on the phone. Then if the phone connects by wifi the email apps should hopefully update and delete the emails on the phone. Of course hindsight is great and I know I should have had a phone lock in place.
Cheers
A

If you didn't have any lock at all then everything on the phone will be available, IMEI locking will only prevent the phone connecting to mobile data, making calls or sending texts. Inserting a new SIM won't remove anything.
If you had set the email client to leave emails on the server then you can download them to your pc, delete them from the server, which would delete them on the phone if wifi connection is ever made.
Unless you had your visa card details on speed dial I wouldn't worry too much, it's probably already been factory reset and sold to a mug in a pub.

Thanks for the reply. Ive just noticed....... I changed my google password as a precaution. Ive just switched on my nexus7 and of course it asked for the new password. Therefore I guess if the lost S3 makes a wifi connection it will also ask for a password.
Edit** Sorry it asked for the password because I was connecting to the play store not upon switching on the nexus

strange problem sending emails

Since yesterday I noticed a sudden problem with my XDA I can not sort out, and I would like to ask this community for help on this one:
Problem:
Emails stored in the outbox do not get transmitted during a GPRS connection with my provider.
Observations:
The login process goes as usual, it even says "sending emails ...", which takes the usual while, incoming mails get downloaded to the device, but after the connection is over it says "could not upload emails, check your setting or talk to the provider" in an alert box. When I look into the outbox all the mails I wanted to send are still there, and they are not just forgotten to delete after sending (I sent some to myself to check).
I have of cause checked the settings, and I know the account is working, because I can access it via my laptop.
The radio must be able to send, because it would not be able to establish a connection otherwise.
I resetted the device, but this had no effect.
I thried to use the dvice in a different GPRS zone (other city) but the issue remains the same.
I searched the forum, but did not find any usable information.
Question:
Have these things be observed before?
Does anyone have a hint on how to sort this issue out or what to look at closer?
Any hints would be appreciated,
Martin
i had this prblm b4...but then i used nPop and it worked fine, but now i dont even use that, i just use "myemail.t-mobile.com" as the outgoing mail, but thats just 4 TMO

Well I know I cannot do that with my Device.
Here in NZ the ISP's block access to the SMTP servers from any connection outside their network.
They do this to stop Spammers using their SMTP servers.
Often they still allow access to the POP servers, because they are authenticated, which fits your symptoms, you can receive, but not send, via your GPRS.
One solution is to set the account up to use your cellphone companies SMTP server if they have one. So you send your mail via smtp.Vodafone.net.nz for example.
..Chuck..
Thank you for your replies!
I checked with my provider to find out if they changed their POP/SMTP settings, but they didn't.
It then took me a while to find out this is a software issue.
In fact it is in some software on the device, and it comes back after hard resetting and copying back the SD backup. I did a double hard reset with a clean reinstall of all software and now I'm able to send mails again.
I could not exactly find out which part of the software, because I can not extract or delete individual files from the backup or resore thm one by one to eliminate faulty files. (is there a tool for this?)
I have the suspicion that establishing two active sync partnerships did the change: Before I had the problem, I had only one computer I synced with, but short before that I bought a new Laptop and now sync with two computers (one being a server, via a network). This might have corrupted something within the networking settings, that is not accessible via the option and connection setting pages.
I'd really like to have an overview page to check on all current settings instead of using settings... and options... dialogs in different locations, but that's another story.
It's working again.
Thanks once more for your replies!

My post is even more basic. I would like to see a short, simple sequence of events to "send an e-mail" from my sx-56.
A. Which program do I use to send (if there is a different one to receive, what it that)?
B. What are the entities that I have to enter into the fields, on which program?
C. What is the procedure for composing and sending the e-mail once the preliminary data has been entered?
The PDA works fine
The phone works fine
Thanks,
Lou

[Q] Too many Passwords attempted - how to get gmail to resync?

So my friend locked my phone out. I Knew the gmail account linked to the phone but i forgot the password. I resetted the password on a computer but when i enter the new password in the phone it doesn't work.
I tried all my various passwords, including the null and it didn't work.
I don't remember if my phone sends notifications for emails because i only made the gmail account when i bought the phone (therefore it isn't my primary account and no one sends emails to it).
I have wifi connection and also 3g connection on the phone.
I am thinking the gmail account did not sync, therefore my new password isn't working. How can i sync the account, or do i have a workaround on getting this to work?

Hey, try to delete the gmail account, restart your phone, and then re-add your gmail account with your new password. If that doesn't work, I suggest backing up all of your contacts and information onto your computer and then factory resetting the phone so you start with a clean slate.

[Q] WiFi Authentication Problem

When I attempt to connect my brand new HTC One to my home wifi, I get an "Authentication Problem" message. I currently have two other Android devices (Nexus S & 10) connected without issue. And I was able to connect to my neighbors unsecured network, however the signal is too weak to be useful. I even tried removing my password and I still got the same message. What could be causing my One to not like my router, or vice versa? The router is about seven and a half years old, so getting a new one isn't out of the questions, but i'd like to save the money if it is a simple fix.
Disregard, it was an account thing.
To add insult to injury, I cannot connect to mobile data either. I can make and receive calls and send and receive text messages, but no data over mobile. The message I get is "Connection failed due to incorrect APN setting". Did I get a One with a bad radio, or does at&t need to turn something on on my account, or is there something else that i'm not thinking of?

Help! My phone is blocking ALL incoming phone calls! Help!

Suddenly, my phone has decided to block ALL calls, even from my favorite contacts and voicemail. I just cannot receive incoming calls. The notification shows "Missed call from (blocked) [contact name or phone number]." The [contact name or phone number] part shows the name of the contact or phone number that is being blocked.
EDIT: Outgoing calls work just fine.
I have disabled blocked/black lists on the phone app, removed any restrictions from Hangouts/Voice and any other apps that interfere with the phone functions. I have restarted the phone and restored the phone app from Titanium. I have frozen/uninstalled any third party apps that provide calling/texting functions, such as voice, hangouts, talkatone, etc. I have even cleared cache and removed default app options from phone/contacts.
This problem suddenly started and I just cannot figure out what may be causing this problem. When I search online, it shows listings of apps that block calls, etc., but nothing that addresses my problem.
I am an advanced user - I have root on my current phone (Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2), and have installed custom roms on previous phones (an old Charge, s2, S3), etc. I am not a newbie, so, PLEASE answer my issue without condescension - THANK YOU.
I do not want to factory reset my phone - any ideas about what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?
Phone info: Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2, rooted, on Verizon (I535).
Thanks.
Verizon tier 2 tech not helping
Tier 2 tech hasn't helped at all!
My only thought would be that what ever file that handled blocked calls got corrupted, and it wasn't removed when you uninstalled it. The only thing that might help is reflashing the rom. Now I never advise a dirty flash due to issues that can come of it but as you don't want to factory reset then it might be an option.
As you are not a noob my suggestion would be to format just the system partition, and reflash. Or you could just reflash. Either way is not 100%
Verizon thinks it might be a SIM card problem. So, I'll replace it and see how that works. If not, a bloody re-flash it will be.
Any other ideas in the meantime?
Thanks.

lg k7 cannot send or receive messages.

so ive had my k7 for a while now, and every now and again i wouldnt be able to receive any sms messages. i could send them, but i could not receive them. they would all come flooding in at once. today, it stopped working completely. i cannot recieve any messages whatsoever. not even from myself. ive tried to use teh mmi codes, but i always get an error message. when i go to my service providers, i cannot search for any networks, yet if i hit auto connect, it says i am connected to the network. ive even tried putting the sim card into someone elses phone. it would take forever to send the messages, but it would work, and i could receive messages when my sim card was in their phone. i am at a loss and getting kind of desperate. i have even flashed the phone back to its origional state, updated the firmware, yet the issue persists. i don't know if this could affect anything, but just in case it does, i have amplify and ive disabled a lot of the t mobile wakelocks and google play wakelocks. i also have apps2sd, and linked my t mobile app and messages app to my sd card. i dont use the stock messasging app, because whenever i try and use it, it is incredibly slow at sending messages. i live a little over a block away from the nearest cell tower, so connectivity isnt an issue. is my sim card damaged or have i messed something up? any help would be greatly appriceated.
