Removing Apps From Custom Roms?

Hi All,
This may be an incredibly stupid question...
I have installed both the Gingerbread Rom and Iridium Rom and like both of them. However, there are some apps added that I have no use for.
Can I just take the apk's for these apps out of the update.zip or is that going to cause it to fail the flash?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jonathan
if you mean themes I asked the same and was told i can delete all apps from custom rom without any problems (or even delete all system/app folder)
I guess apps in custom rom are just skinned, so there's no real need to install them
Please post question in the general section.
Ahh, apologies for posting in the wrong place.
Thanks for the info, I'll take out the ones I don't need.

combining two apk's

Hi All,
iam trying to combine two apk's in one... can anyone suggest a simple approach to this.
My use case is
i write scripts using python for android.
i can package those scripts in apk. however apk if installed on a phone which doesn't have python interpreter ask's user's to download interpretor.
what i want is one monolithic apk which contains python interpretor plus my script.
Note : looked through SL4A forum completely and was not able to find any satisfactory answer.
so is this possible or not?

Moving to Q&A
This blog post seems to detail the process of packaging a python script along with the interpreter: http://jokar-johnk.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/how-to-make-android-app-with-sl4a.html
EDIT: At least, I think it does. I haven't fully read it, more skimmed it.

Integrating my apps with android os

Hi friends,
I have already posted this question in CHEF forum. Is it permited to ask the same here? I don't know. I want to solve this problem and I was trying to post this in "developper" forum but I don't have permission. So I am asking here. If its wrong then please excuse me.
As I have stuck up with some problem in " Integrating my application with Android source and compiling".
I hope you Guys can help me in this.
"I have developed one Launcher app and a Tuner App. Tuner App is developed in c++ and Launcher App in java. Now I want to make these two apps as part of the android source(I have downloaded 2.3.4 source) compilation. In other words, I will compile the downloaded android source and I will get the image from that. After installing I need my Launcher app to be displayed in home screen, and my tuner app should be available in "My Applications" menu.
I need help step by step in
1> how to integrate my apps with the android source.
2> how to compile the source after 1st step.
3> how to flash this image.
Awaiting your help.
regards
Rajendra

Hello everyone, this is my first thread which I've created with useful information rather than helps.
NOTICE-I'm not the developer of this app I just wanted to create it as there's no tutorial on it. I'm not responsible if you do this without the developer's permission, you MUST do it only with permission. Another thing is that I know this app has low ratings but that is because of the lack of knowledge about the app.
Intro-This is an app to edit apk files, you can edit everything except java files.
Features:
1. You can do this directly from android without pc
2. No need to do anything with a file manager.
3. Even for complete beginners, even noobs can do some things with this app like editing app name, app icon, app activity labels etc.
4. No need of paying, although you get it for free there is even a premium version of this app but almost everything needed is available within the free version. But donate if possible to support the developer.

[APP] Mobile Test Android StandAlone

Hello,
I know there Appium, Robottium and others, but is there any Android APP that can run on its own, test a mobile app and leave a metrics log in the android phone?
What I am trying to acomplish here is to get the Phone to do everything by itself without the need for and external server/android studio as a guidance.
Imagine:
Phone -> Android App launches the test, opens the mobile app, does the steps required and store the time taken for each step in a log file. Then there a python/java/nodes.js/whatever secondary process that uploads the data to the metrics server in json form.
There will be no server to run this "robot" on the mobile app everything is done in the Phone (well the script may be done on android studio on the pc or something but then it is uploaded to the App on the Phone and everything runs on it.)
Can this be done or am I overreaching?

Thank you for the move, I did read the Rules but thought this was the best forum forthe posts.
sorry and thanks,

So.. no thoughts on this anyone? I managed to install python so I have a way to upload my metrics.. now I just need a good appium alternative or a standalone robot.

MM5
We have a supplier that does this but they use their own scripts to move thru the mobile APP with the phones beeing standalone. I'm not that sciprt savy to do that, that is why I am looking for an open source app or even a paid one, for that.
