How to Restore Original Samsung Boot Animation
This requires Root and a root file manager.
1 - Download and extract the S4_Original_BootAnimation.rar
https://www.dropbox.com/s/41d4csi1eyxvytg/S4_Original_BootAnimation.rar?v=0mcns
Make sure you have R/W permissions in system/media before copying over.
2 - Copy the files from the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip to the system/media folder replacing the original files.
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg
3 - Copy the file from the S4_Original_BootAnimation.zip to the system/media\audio\ui folder replacing the original files
PowerOn.ogg
PowerOff.ogg
(I renamed my originals just to be safe.)
4 - Don't forget to match permissions on the files as well. If you simply rename the originals to .bak or something like that, the files will be right under it basically rw-r--r-- on all files.
Alternately, if you do not want to download; you can make a copy of, and rename the bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg that are already located in your system/media folder, and PowerOn.ogg it is already located in your system/media\audio\ui folder
If you want to disable bootup sound go to:
system/media/audio/ui and search for PowerOn.ogg. Just rename it to PowerOn.ogg.backup (or any other extension). Well done!
Reboot your phone and you should no longer see the ATT animations or sound.
If you what to got back AT&T animations or sound and you delete the ones on your phone you can downland the form here https://www.dropbox.com/s/ub6mhqeas73l986/S4AT&T_Original_BootAnimation.rar?v=0rc-s
If you want a custom Boot Animation animations i will Put them here when someone make a working one and that i have test it. Make sure you give them the create
and not me!!

Click on the link in the first post and download the zip file. Extract it to your SD Card or PC. Using Root Explorer or some other file management software, go to /System/Media. bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, shutdown.qmg are in this folder. Rename the extensions to .bak in case you would like to go back to them. Copy the new files over. The Audio folder is also located in /System/Media/Audio. Copy the poweron.ogg file over from your SD Card or PC to the UI folder in the Audio folder. Restart and you should be all set.

Awesome, this worked for me. So happy to get rid of the blindingly white AT&T boot screen and also get rid of the sound. Thanks!

Okay, I've created a new QMG boot animation based on this:
Found the bootanimation.zip in this thread:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12938-boot-animations-for-galaxy-nexus-updated-122512/
And I was able to make a .QMG boot animation from it. And I threw in a surprise/joke :angel: shutdown animation and attached them all to this post.
If it works on someone elses phone, then I'll prolly take a small handful of custom bootanimation requests from you all.
Just download & extract the below-linked .zip and apply it using the instructions listed in the OP.

NC 3d Custom Boot Animation [6/28 update]

Since tinkering with things is a hobby of mine coupled with an ongoing infatuation with Blender3d I decided I'd spend some time working on a few new boot animations.
Admittedly I only have a basic understanding of the boot animation format but I'm going to render some frames out and see what I can do. Neat stuff is neat.
Here's a few frames from my first test animation..

I've started with a new CM7 boot animation since I use CM7+DalOC+SDcard boot on my own Nook Color.
If anyone has any other ideas or a wishlist drop it in here and I'll see what I can come up with. We are limited by only our imagination.
looks good!
Good job and good luck.
Mmm looks like a green lantern android. Moar plz!
Looks like it's gonna be an awesome boot animation, I've always loved trying out new one, and it looks like this ones gonna be amazing! Awesome work so far, and good luck finishing it off.
I like! Nice start

Hey guys,
First bootanimation is ready to go. This is the full screen .png version. Runs fine on my nook. I tested a smaller res version on my nook and it didn't make much of a difference so I ended up just leaving it full screen.
Quality on the nook is much nicer of course...

Download bootanimation.zip :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SPBBE750
Instructions for installation:
1) Download and install the free E S File explorer on your nook
2) In the settings menu enable all the root options
3) Connect your nook to your computer USB and transfer the bootanimation to a spot you know where to look from E S File explorer
4) On your Nook use E S File explorer to copy the bootanimation.zip from that drop folder to the /data/local directory. You can delete the other bootanimation.zip that is there if you are replacing something.
5) Done. Reboot. Rejoice.
There may be other ways to accomplish the same thing but this is the method I used for my SDcard install.
Hmm, my bootanimation.zip stays in the /system/media folder... Not sure if mines different for some reason, but I've never heard of putting it in the /data/local directory...
Must be different on an SD card install, I'm running off of eMMC.
Oh, and holy crap, that animation is huge! Can't wait to try it out, but my Nook is out of commission at the moment, got it taken by my parents
I'm going to render out a red and cyan version of this same animation since I already have the models, lighting and effects in place. After that I'll probably switch it up with something different.

The cyan version is incoming in a day or 2 I just got busy with some other stuff.
I am downloading the red one. My sister and I will love this! Thank you!
OK, now where do I copy this file?
I am running CM7 N107 from SD & don't find any of the folders mentioned. Do I need to be looking at the "Boot" partition? If so, that is only available to me if I put the SD card in my PC. Am I replacing a zip file, or installing this zip via booting into recovery? Please expand on the installation steps.

installation
I didn't install this particular boot animation yet (but Dling ).
The way I accomplished this was to rename original bootanimation.zip to st else (old.bootanimation.zip).
Then copy new animation to the same folder as older one was. Reboot .
I found mine in root-system-media
/system/media
Hope this helps .
P.S. connect NC to PC via cable (or wifi), copy zip file to SD card. Disconnect, open file browser, copy or move zip file to the folder above to replace bootanimation.zip.
Oh one important thing - you need to have rooted NC and have root access - your file browser must have root privileges. I used ES explorer if I rememeber correctly.
Do not unzip or alter the .zip file.

Hi bug,
1) open E S File Explorer
2) set all the root options to enabled and press the home button upper left
it will show a little house when you are in the correct mode
3) scroll till you find the data folder and click on it
4) inside this first data folder will be a Local folder .. click on that to open (not the data folder within the data folder if you have one)
5) insert or copy the new bootanimation.zip over the old one
It's only a few clicks to get this done on a SDcard CM7 install. I'm not sure of the installation of custom boots on the other installs since I haven't used any of those yet.
How bout a cwm flashable zip? Would make the process of installing your boot animations a breeze. Ill try and prep one tomorrow mornning. Unless someone beats me to it. I hope someone does.

Thanks for your response. On my system, the bootanimation.zip is located in system/media.
Problem is when I try to rename the file or paste the new file in the folder I get " Sorry, operation failed."
I get a "failed to mount" when I select "mount File System" under settings.
At launch I saw a message that ES File Explorer had been granted SU Permissions. I am at a loss for what to do now.

[MOD]BootScoot-V2- Now With Sound !!

BootScoot-V2
Info:
This moves bootanimations bootsounds and downanimations and sounds to /data/local
It includes COD Android bootanimation and sound. The original thread for the animation can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904350
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The files should be named like so,
Bootanimation = bootanimation.zip
Bootsound = android_audio.mp3
Downanimation = downanimation.zip
Shutdown Sound = android_out.mp3
And they get copied to /data/local, i include a flasher to make copying easier just put all you files in the zip in data/local and flash.
Usage:
Place BootScoot.zip on sdcard
Boot into recovery
Flash zip
Bootanimation Flasher usage:
Put your bootanimation/downanimation in the zip file in data/local, make sure it's named bootanimation.zip or downanimation.zip (replace "Place Files Here")
Put the zip file on your sd
Flash zip
Enjoy...
Use the bootscoot zip once then use bootanimation flasher to change bootanimations.
Notes:
I added the sound by editing /customize/CID/default.xml like so in case you want to add it to your own rom:
Code:
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/data/local/bootanimation.zip" [color="red"]audio="/data/local/android_audio.mp3"[/color] />
</BootConfiguration>
<ShutdownConfiguration>
<ShutdownAnimation image_png="/data/local/downanimation.zip" [color="red"]audio="/data/local/android_out.mp3"[/color] image="" fps="15" />
</ShutdownConfiguration>
Changelog:
V2-Added sound
Click to Download V2
Worked perfect, ty!
Your welcome it also does downanimations, i forgot to write it in the first post. I just didn't have any to add to the zip.
The great thing about this is there's NO COMPUTER NEEDED. It works quick too. I made a file and loaded some downanimations and bootanimations to select from, so I can just pop in what I want and use it from a small DB of animations.
Thanks for the work man.
Nice making life easier

This isn't working for me. I flashed the portal boot animation and that worked fine. But when I tried flashing the second zip file with animations in the data folder, the downanimation.zip won't work. The boot animation works fine, but when I shut off my phone, it will freeze up on a black screen before it powers off completely.
I've gone in with root explorer and deleted the downanimation.zip file from the data/local directory, and now I'm at least able to turn off my phone without having to pull the battery. Any ideas?
I know it isn't the animation zip file I'm using, because I've tried ones that work as the boot animation, but for whatever reason they don't work as the down animation.

I'm wondering if your using a bootanimation.zip for down animation, if that's true then that might be the problem, if the animation image isn't set for your devices screen size then you might have to change that before flashing. Check in the .zip folder under the text file and see what size they are.
Ok, I think I figured out why it wasn't working. Apparently the desc.txt file was telling it to play infinitely due to the number "0" in the file. What do each of these numbers mean and how to I modify a boot animation to use it as a down animation? I don't need it to loop, just to play once is fine.

I've used a boot for a down just by renaming it and as far as the numbers first line is size last two are frame rate second line on down first number loops 0 being infinitely 1 being once and so on. Second number how many frames to pause before running each time.

any suggestions? I thought it was TWRP, but I rebooted and still getting error.. I will try one more time though just in case.
I got that error with superuser a few time but it worked anyways. I updated twrp and it stopped doing it, i'm not sure if that was the cause or not.

Yeah I have latest 1.02 of TWRP also.. so I am not sure what the hells going on.. Starting to regret even using TWRP.. Might go back to ClockworkMod.. Least it never gave me errors..
Also.. Just tried AGAIN for 4th time after rebooting each time.. Still get Error about opening /tmp/sideload/package.zip
I had already flashed your first BootScoot.zip yesterday... that wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it??? First one went fine..
FIGURED ERROR WHAT /tmp/sideload/package.zip ERROR WAS ALL ABOUT..
Well I figured out how to resolve it.. I renamed the file from BootScoot-V2-signed.zip to BootScoot-signed.zip and it flashed with no problem.. Maybe TWRP doesn't like files with 2 -(hyphens) in them... lol Either way, Got it Goin!! Thanks bro!
FYI: you might wanna change the file name of your upload to BootScootV2-signed.zip or something of that nature.. Just in case others have same problem.
Glad it worked out. Everything loads right now ?
EDIT: I reuploaded the file and fixed it, it wasnt signed properly and i renamed it. It should be all good now.

Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Easy explanation. Flash the bootscoot zip in recovery and that makes the new directories for your boot/downanimation locations. Then you just take the boots/downs u want, rename them properly, and move them to the location. Make sure the permissions are correct, and thats it. The boot-flasher zip isnt even necessary.

[MOD][JB][XT925] The Droid HD Bootanimation now FULL screen 720p!!! (For ROOT users)

Hey all! :laugh: A friend of mine found the most amazing Boot animation while browsing for themes for his RAZR HD, and he sent me the file and once I saw it running in my XT925 I just knew I needed to share this with you all. :highfive:
Here we have the Droid Bootanimation, only this time it´s full screen on our 720P RAZR HD screens! Here´s the sample, a bit shortened on the beginning and end for this preview´s purposes:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This animation was taken from the Razr M I´m told, but I just know that it fills our screens perfectly and that makes it good enough by far for me, even if it wasn´t originally meant to run on our phones . Now to install, and please remember that YOUR PHONE NEEDS TO BE ROOTED for this to work:
1.- Download both of the files that are attached to this post to your computer.
2.- Once both these downloaded files are in your computer, unzip the droidsm.ogg.zip file and extract the droidsm.ogg file inside it and put it together in the same place or folder with the bootanimation.zip file. At this point you can delete the zip that contained the ogg file you extracted and just keep the bootanimation zip and the ogg file in the same folder in your computer
3.- Copy both the downloaded bootanimation.zip and the extracted droidsm.ogg files to a folder inside your phone.
4.- Using your preferred android File Manager (Root Browser, ES File Explorer, etc.) go to the folder System/Media of your phone. Within that folder, there should already be a file named bootanimation.zip that holds your current boot animation graphics. Rename that existing bootanimation.zip file to bootanimation.zip.bak, so you can easily go back to it later on if need be.
5.- Now still using the File Manager, go back to the folder inside your phone into which you copied the downloaded bootanimation.zip file and the extracted droidsm.ogg file from your computer, and either copy or move them both to the System/Media folder of your phone.
6.- Once the new bootanimation.zip file is in your phone´s System/Media folder, you NEED to change the file permissions for the bootanimation.zip to rw-r--r-- under the file´s properties (or 0644 if your file manager asks for the attributes code instead).
7.- Do the same permissions change for the droidsm.ogg file and set its permissions to rw-r--r-- too.
8.- Now with those changes made, you can exit your file manager, reboot your phone and just enjoy your new amazing Droid HD boot animation!!! :victory:
P.S.: If anything goes like it shouldn´t, just go back to the System/Media folder of your phone using your android File Manager of choice, and then delete both the bootanimation.zip file and the droidsm.ogg file that you previously copied in there. Then just rename the bootanimation.zip.bak that should still be there back to its original name before you changed it (by removing the .bak from the last part of the file´s name). Reboot and all should be as it was before .
Thank you, it works great, I just didn't put the sound file as I don't want to have sound at boot.
problem solved
found out my problem,
bY MISTAKE I ADDED THE ZIP FILE AND AFTERWARDS I edited as zip.bak instead of jus leaving it as zip
This cool feature worked on my razr and it looks cool as hell
thanks a lot
Looks and works great, thank you!
will this work on a XT926?

Nice find! Great having an hd boot animation.
i´m sad dot work to me on my xt925 ... the proble can be the cm 10.2?
nice
This works fine on my phone, I will try to reboot it more often from now on.
Thanks for sharing !!
PS: I didn't even change the file permissions and it works.
Thanks for sharing, any idea why I don't get any sound on my XT925? Animation plays fine..
I have absolutely no idea... I recently changed roms to KitKat from CyanogenMod (Cm 11) and I also lost the sound. While running stock Jelly Bean it worked flawlessly, that's about all I can tell you... :crying:

Interesting.. probably an audio codec issue.. when I copied the file from PC to Phone it told me, that the file might not be playable on the device..
(Which I usually ignore for my MP4 based audio collection)
xt926 working here. Did not change permission. Thanks a bunch

Well i tried every possible location in the system folder, every possible permissions variation, all sorts of changes to the zip file, the ogg file and/or the desc.txt and it was all to no avail, I still could not get a peep out of any bootnaimation I tried on CM11 no matter what.

:victory:

Then just rename the bootanimation.zip.bak that should still be there back to its original name before you changed it (by removing the .bak from the last part of the file´s name). Reboot and all should be as it was before .

[MOD][JB][XT925]Full screen HD 720p BLUE Boot Animations (For Rooted users)

Disclaimer: Now in this thread I shall be sharing some full screen Boot Animations for our 720p screens that I´ve modified. My contribution to these animations was to increase the resolution of the graphics to 720p so that they would cover our full screens, optimizing the base jpgs so that the file sizes were as reduced as possible without compromising the image quality and restructuring the corresponding zip packages, but that was all. This means that these animations are not my original work, only modified by me, and since I only found the original contributor to just one of these three animations I would love if you guys could tell me if you know who the original author of the base files was so I can credit him or her accordingly.
Hey all!!!
Now here´s the first boot animation of this thread, the same Razr M HD 720p Boot animation I posted before on my other thread but now in Vibrant Blue for all of you who have either ROMS or just themes that go better with blue than with red (Like me, for instance):

MachineAzul 720p HD
Now to the second Boot Animation of this thread, this one is in my opinion one of the most beautiful Boot Animations ever made for Android, and it looks even more astonishing at 720p resolution. This one has no sound, but it´s so pretty in my opinion that it doesn´t suffer any for it. Here you go:
Now to install, and please remember that YOUR PHONE NEEDS TO BE ROOTED for this to work:
1.- Download the file that is attached to this post to a folder in your computer.
2.- Copy the downloaded bootanimation.zip file to a folder inside your phone.
3.- Using your preferred android File Manager (Root Browser, ES File Explorer, etc.) go to the folder System/Media of your phone. RAZR M HD ICS Blue
Now this third one I can finally!!! credit to the original poster, he posted a 960x540 version of this file in a Galaxy S3 thread and it was easy to resize and adjust for our needs. Full credit goes to user Kryten2k35 for this contribution!
Now this is yet another version of the RAZR M full screen 720p HD Boot Animation, only this time in the Light Blue ICS theme color. I understand this much lighter color is the preferred option for the ICS based roms and for some versions of Cyanogenmod, either way here it is for your enjoyment:
Now to install this one, just follow EXACTLY THE SAME INSTRUCTIONS as they appear on the first post of this thread, and you should be golden. Enjoy!!!
AWESOME!!!
I just tried every single one of them and you guys rock!!!!!!

No sound??
Hi, I just tried installing the first boot animation you posted but although I set the permissions for both the bootanimation.zip and droidsm.ogg correctly, I'm not getting the sound when I reboot my phone (LG Optimus G E973, not sure if it matters). Can somebody give me any explanations for why this might be?
This animation as excellent!! Works great and looks outstanding on my Razr HD. Thanks!

[Theme]Bootanimations N7100 [MI6 MJ2 MJ5 4.3]

This Boot Animations you can use on Note 2 roms with kernels that not support custom boot animation
How to repleas Boot Animation
This requires Root and a root file manager.
1 - Download and extract _BootAnimation and put on SD
Make sure you have R/W permissions in system/media before copying over.
Boot animation
1 - Copy the files
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
shutdown.qmg to the system/media folder replacing the original files.
What do the files
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg (plays first at boot after Samsung logo)
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg (plays second at boot)
/system/media/shutdown.qmg (plays when phone turns off
Boot Sound and shutdown Sound
1- Copy the for
PowerOn.ogg
PowerOff.ogg to the system/media\audio\ui folder replacing the original files
(I renamed my originals just to be safe.)
4 - Don't forget to match permissions on the files as well. If you simply rename the originals to .bak or something like that, the files will be right under it basically rw-r--r-- on all files.
Alternately, if you do not want to download; you can make a copy of, and rename the bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg that are already located in your system/media folder, and PowerOn.ogg it is already located in your system/media\audio\ui folder
If you want to disable sound go to:
system/media/audio/ui and search for PowerOn.ogg and PowerOff.ogg. Just rename it to PowerOn.ogg.backup and PowerOff.ogg.backup (or any other extension). Well done!

The following link is to an online file converter. You can upload any sound file and convert it to ogg, wav, mp3 and wma. I use this site all the time. You can use this to convert sound clips into files for your PowerOff and PowerOn. Once you download the converted file, name it PowerOn.ogg and replace the file in SYSTEM/MEDIA/AUDIO/UI and when you boot the phone on this is the file that will be played. If you want to do PowerOff sound file make sure to make an OGG and a WAV file the Off sequence.
Make sure to make a copy of the original PowerOn or PowerOff file, in case you dont like what ever you made.

I download first and flash ROM

Amazing, I do the same process, and does not work for me.I even started the process again
Perhaps one of the options during installation interferes with, or need to set something?
I invest all that time because it is beautiful theme.
