Can't update ICS to JB - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi everyone, I just bought a used Asus Transformer Prime. I see that the bootloader is locked and when I check for the update it says there aren't any. Here is the data from my tablet :
Touch panel version: MXT-2.0 build-170
Kernel: 2.6.39.4-00003-g12de84f [email protected]#1
Build number: IMLK74.US_epad-9.4.2.21-20120323
Pad EC version
TF201-PAD-0215
I tried using the official Asus unlock tool but i get an error every time: "An unknown error occurs, which may be a network connection issue. Please wait and try again." Offcourse I am connected to the internet but this error occurs for some reason.
This tablet was bought from a guy that works in the ASUS service in Croatia and he assembled this tablet from several others. Could this be the problem?

Can you see the serial number in settings? Under about tablet -> status.
Plenty of people cannot unlock their prime because when they get RMA'd they replace the motherboard which stuffs up the MAC address and serial number combo.

It says "unknown" for the serial number :/

In that case you'll need to send it to ASUS to get it fixed.

Not the answer I was hoping for but thank you for your help

Does anyone know how can I unlock my bootloader based on the data I have provided?

Without a serial number you cannot unlock.. You need to contact Asus and tell them you have no serial number and they will open an RMA.

Got TP yesterday w/ HC 3.2.1, can't update to ICS

I got my TP yesterday... I charged it, played with it a bit, but want to update to ICS before spending a ton of time setting it up. When I check for an update under the system firmware update menu I get "There is no update available for your device currently" message. Does anyone know if ASUS has halted the OTA in order to get some of the ICS kinks worked out?
There is a known bug where the serial number for some of the units is listed as Unknown. If you have this problem then the automatic updates won't work. Check that your prime has its serial number in Settings > About Tablet,

Thank you, that is my problem. I had thought that the serial number issue was occurring after the update. Will do my research and try and fix problem. Again thank you.

[Q] Ratchet: confirm serial

I used ratchet to enter a serialnr, beacause im a guy withe the serial unknown issue.
I RMA my first TFP, a new DE mainboard was in, bevor it was a WW. Since my prime is back, i had the serial issue. I tried ratchet with a DE and a WW Firmware.
This step i cant find in my settings:
" After that, you should be able to head into Settings/About Tablet/ Status and vertify your serial. Once you confirm that the serial is in correct, update away!!"
the question is: How do i confirm the serial?
The serialnr is there but no option to confirm....
I tried the rooted and the non-Rooted way....nothing
sry, my english is not the best^^
thx in advanced
If there is no way to recive OTA, my baby is going back to Asus
Ratchet's method gives you a serial number you can see but it doesn't allow OTA updates.
I read a lot of threads in diffrent forums, there are a lot of peobles they can receive
ota after using ratchet.....

[Q] What about my Serial number 'unknown'

Hi guys,
After flashing Resurrection Remix and back to stock ICS I noticed my serial number is saying 'unknown' Now I have read about some similar topics about this, but I have got something else.
I decided to flash the ICS bootloader. After that my serial was 0009ca6038****. After that I checked with 'abd devices' and it came back with: 304D9ca6038****.
Note: These two are almost the same except for the first 4 characters.
Then I looked at the sticker under the battery and I saw s/n: RF1C50*****. So that's completely different.
Now, which one should be correct? Does your sticker match your serial?
And last but not least: how to solve this?
I am running a CM9 nighlty build on my S2 and the serial number in Settings -> About -> Status is also "unknown"
The first time i realized this was as i read your post.
I have no problems with my phone, so I think the unknown serial number is not important.
I have a RN10pro. When I type *#06#. It says serial number is unknown. How to fix this?

[Q] clueless

This is the story. S3 bought in europe. stopped working immediatelly(i think. or maybe after some weeks) after. didnt get fixed service had some warranty issue.
When i say didnt work, i meant the telephone-side of the device it didnt recognise the sim. everything else works fine(even wifi)
I live in greece so i had the phone sent to me here in hopes to get it fixed. but before that i asked for it to be unlocked and my cousin supposedly(he s not really that tech savvy) unlocked it by the carrier.(even gave me the number to be sure everything's ok)
I originaly thought it might be a hardware issue cause the sim wasnt recognized(remember that problem happened on the original carrier its not a matter of lock) but the guy i had went to to fix it said the entire gsm part isnt working so its either a SOFTWARE (thats why i m asking help here) problem or the main board should be replaced.(think he tried to restore it even to original firmware)
After a lot of research here and on google i m kinda lost because so many things seem wrong at the same time.
1.when i type *#7465625# it goes to personalization but below that is blank. then after 2 seconds i get " Unfortunately. the processcom.android.phone has stopped." so i cant get info on whether its locked or not
2.when i type *#06# i get IMEI null / null "ok" ... so i cant see if it has the same as its written under the battery..
3.when i try to press the notification "software update" i get registering device... " attention! Processing failed "ok" "... so i cant even update to a (maybe) working patch
4. The sim it uses is micro sim and i dont have one available at the moment. so i only check the progress by dialling 911.(isnt it valid to assume even without a sim it would still dial?"out of service area")
5.

STATUS
Network Unknown
Mobile network type Unknown
Service State Out of service
Roaming Not Roaming

IF this is a software problem i need your help to know where to get started... you have great guides like for the IMEI or the Baseband unknown message but i dont know where to start cause all these happen at the same time and i dont know which are related to the sim not recognised problem or something someone before me did..(forgot to mention the phone is NOT rooted or flashed to whatever. But i m going to do that when i know more about what i need)
ANY help or information on what is it that i m dealing with would be GREATLY appreciated.

But i have the Imei under the battery and i also have the unlock codes from the original carrier.. is there nothing to be done?
Get a microsim and test.
If fails, you can root and flash Samsung firmware again.
Can use s3 toolkit for above.
Come back after these.
Good luck

No. the IMEI is contained within the EFS Folder which is either missing or corrupt. Only a service centre can repair this. The IMEI number must be programmed into the device in order to connect to the network. This is why you cannot.

Replaced MOBO, now Serial Number is Unknown and can't unlock bootloader

Replaced my mobo due to bricking my device. Updated the table to 4.1.1 from the asus website and my device has an unknow serial number. I have read this can also be why I can not unlock the bootloader. I get "An unknown error occurs, which may be a network issue. please wait and try again"
Any way to get the serial number to show up/unlock my device?
