siayh kernel
ultima rom XXEMC3
philz recovery 4 cwm based 6.3.0.1
i was making swap to expand my ram
yeasterday about eight oclock PM

did you tried to go back to previous ROM or stock ROM ?

Yea, i installed new rom from recovery and i boot animation cant start. i have still screen samsung galaxy s3.
when i installed rom from odin boot animation starts, im waiting, restart and again.
Im also was tring to restore my backub but i didnt change anything
marbedMB pozdrawiam

Now i restored system from backup and bootanimation cant end. it is still flashing and flashing.
But i think im on the right way

Can you link us to the page you got the instructions and script for swap off please, also try flashing a stock rom then wipe data from stock recovery.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

i was using app Root Swapper Extend Memory
i was tring that.
i installed rom from recovey, from odin, restored system from backup
actualy boot animation starts and cant end

You should look into how you write an informative title. "Problem, help needed" doesn't really describe what you need help with.

But i dont now hot to do this

Did you use the swap file or choose a swap partition?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

i used swap file 256 mb but on sdcard i saw that that file has only 32 mb
i deleted that file from recovery menu
any ideas?

im flashing XXEMC3 stock rom thru odin and bootanimation is starting, ending and restarting after thet im restoring system from backup and i bootanimation cant end
when i restored boot from backup boot animation couldnt start

If you used a swap file there is no reason for the phone to bootloop after flashing stock rom, a data wipe and formatting the SD card (data wipe in stock recovery automatically formats the SD card)

but im using philz cwm based 6.0.3.2

If you had tried a stock rom you would have flashed stock recovery it's why I said flash it THEN wipe data. You can wipe SD card by going to mounts and storage and format /sdcard.

Format /sdcard?
If that doesn't solve it, I don't think you are telling us everything reflashed a rom should be enough to fix problems, worst case a data wipe will be needed.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

i wiped anything.
I dont now how i do that. Maybe i have to try to install another rom thru odin

Here is what I would do in this order exact order:
Wipe data through recovery
format /sdcard in recovery (in CWM touch, mounts and storage format /sdcard)
restore a nandroid backup or flash a custom rom
flash a stock rom through Odin
wipe data again through stock recovery (flashed when you flash any stock rom)
Be sure to check it's fixed after each step, and it should solve 99% of all software based problems.
Also if you recieve any errors tell us exactly what they say, otherwise we are shooting in the dark.

[Q] Flashed Custom ROM. Phone not rebooting

Hi, I was following the steps given in the below thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145&fb_source=message
I rooted my phone successfully. Then downloaded "cm-7.1.0-RC1-Cooper-KANG-10.10.11-Grif_07" (98MB) and put it into the root of my SD card. Then I wiped the cache and partition. And then I updated from my SD card selecting the above file (for CM mode 7). Error in caching messages came. And now my phone is not rebooting. The screen is freezed at GALAXY ACE GT - S5830 and I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me
Here's the recovery mode screenshot at present

Can you tell me how ?
I am anything but an expert on these matters.
I wiped data/factory. I wiped cache partition. Also, I didn't flash custom recovery as I was told not to. Is the problem due to any one of the above three ?
Ur facing the problem bcoz ur flashing it with stock recovery. Flash it with cwm 4.0.0.9. Here's d link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168417

It will be really helpful if you can tell me how to flash CWM 4.0.0.9
flash the link domnic gave first and reboot recovey. you will have a new recovery.
select install zip and select your rom.
Happy Flashing!
Flash cwm4 same way you tried flashing that rom.

When I go into the recovery mode, Clock Work Recovery Mode 4.0.0.9 screen is coming , but what are the next steps? Install CM 7?

First of all, put CWM Recovery as mentioned by dominic79.
then, reboot into Recovery. U will be in CWM recovery now.
Now, wipe data, wipe cache, goto advanced>wipe dalvik cache.
now, go back to main menu in recovery.
choose install zip from sd card.
choose the ROM from ur sd card, and select Yes.
It should work.

its just a standard procedure i follow while flashing new ROMs
u should follow the Instructions as per the ROM that u are flashing
u are using CM 7.1 by Grif right ? Well, u do need to wipe (according to the instructions).
Yeah. But I thought since I wiped it before , I didn't need to wipe it again. Before in the sense that before flashing CWM 4.
Thats ok...if u dnt get any problem its fine (bootloops, phone restarting by itself)....
But if u get these problems then do the wipes first then reinstall the rom again

I have decided to post the wipe scripts here for those KernelHolics & Flashaholics that are flashing kernels and ROMs constantly. I've made small modifications to these scripts FULL credit to the originator of them Credits below.
These are compatible with TWRP, CWM.
Since there have been numerous kernels recently being posted and people wondering what to wipe or what not to wiped here is the Kernel Cleaner.
1. Place the file in the root of your /sdcard
2. Flash Kernel Cleaner
3. Flash/Fastboot Kernel
4. Reboot.
Download: http://d-h.st/ke1
This second script I'm sure everyone is familiar with SUPERWIPE script.
Tired of wiping after every ROM or not knowing what to wipe to flash a ROM and have a clean install? Just flash this script & flash ROM easy right?
1. Place Wipe-Script in root of /sdcard
2. Flash Wipe-Script
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot.
5. Wipes System, Cache, Data.
Download: http://d-h.st/qIo
Debug
If it doesn't flash please tell me what recovery your using.
ONLY works for the DROID DNA flashing this on another device will brick your phone.

Very cool...what does the Kernel Cleaner wipe? I will either Flash GUI or fastboot flash the boot.img file, then boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, mount system then flash the corresponding zip files.
Anything else I should be doing/this script does?
when using the system wipe it will wipe your SD card FYI. Just lost my backups luckly I know about the adb sideload trick to get a rom back on my device to get back up and running. May want to adjust the script to not wipe the location on data that is the SD card (not sure of the xact location )

i second this.. what does the kernel cleaner wipe actually do?
No most of those programs already wipe. This is only if you fastboot/flash the kernel just like the OP states.

So i used the superwipe script in TWRP recovery and immediately after I went into mounts and attempted to mount system. I was going to install CyanogenMOD newest nightly from a clean flash.
Although when I chose mount system my phone rebooted, since there is no OS it obviously stays at the HTC white splash screen. So i hold the power and vol down button get back into bootloader so i can go back into recovery but now my entire SDcard is wiped, gone, no where to be found. At first I am like alright whatever screw it sh*t happens so i move onto to restore a backup of a ROM i have via USB-OTG and now nothing works, I cant boot into OS or recovery, i tried fastboot flash recovery again, and it succeeds both with TWRP and CWM but it never boots into recovery.
I see like the splash screens of the recovery (the teamwin icon and CWM icon but never fully boots) and then it goes into a constant bootloop that never comes out of it.
Help please!

Follow the unbricking thread. Specifically my posts to get you back up and running.
Skip right to the part where you flash "ROM.zip", check md5, in fastboot. This will restore your to stock and you can start over.
If you have the eng hboot or a custom splash screen you may have to flash the original parts if the flash doesn't take.
Pay any attention to errors while flashing. I don't follow the DNA much so hit me up in pm if you need help.
thanks a lot
Doesn't work on TWRP 2.5 !
Hi there ,
I have Htc DNA . installed custome recovery TWRP ... flashing Kernel cleaner works! BUT flashing superwipe.zip Doesn't work ! (gives [email protected]).
Can you please help ?!
One another question : how to format phone with twrp ? i have one option "wipe" ... as written there it will wipe everything needed by sliding ?! I do that but seems something still not wiped !? cause phone has crashes ... I would prefer CWM! (better and simple).
BY the way in TWRP i have in wiping partions ... something like "OTG USB " ?? WTF ? what's this that i can't wipe ?!
Thanks for help .

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 Boot Loop, Need Help

Pretty much all in the title, my Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 was charging while I was doing some school work. I look down and the boot screen saying "Samsung Galaxy SII" so I look back up, I'm used to my phone restarting here and there (probably not a good thing..) so I just ignored it and looked back down because I was checking to see if my ride was ready or not and it was just showing "Samsung Galaxy SII" and it'd go to a black screen, and restart the process all over again.
I looked for any other people having the same problem, but I think I'm the only one on AT&T that has. One guy with T-Mobile had the same issue and he said that constantly pushing the button would work, I tried that and it still didn't work, so I don't know what to do.
Anyone have any ideas?
Search for back to stock topic.
Is it rooted? If so, download another room and flash it.

So you're saying my OS is basically dead? Haha, would it be possible to root it now? I've had stock for ever and I've looked into getting it done, but been to worried I'd completely brick my phone. What would be the best ROM?
There are a lot of them. If that's the road you choose to take, try a few and see which ones meet your needs.
The problem could be either firmware related (more likely) or hardware related (less likely.) First, boot into recovery mode and perform a wipe data/factory reset. With the phone off, hold all three of vol- vol+ and power buttons continuously until it boots into recovery.
If that does not clear the problem, then as suggested try flashing one of the stock packages using Odin. If you want root at the same time, flash one of the stock plus root packages. There is little risk of completely bricking your phone as long as you read first, understand the steps, and use the correct firmwares.
See the links in my sig, and the stickies in these forums to guide you.

Tried recovery mode today and now when I boot I still get boot loop, then if I try going back to recovery it says "Deleting System Meta Data". I'm still on 2.3 update by the way, which pack do I need, the UCKH7 or UCKH6? I'm going to do the stock +root packages, I just need to run to get a data cable tomorrow.
Do I need to do anything extra since I have the "Deleting System Meta Data" or can I still flash with stock FW +root Kernel?
Thanks guys for your help by the way!

Deleting cryption meta data is a little difficult to get past, but it can be done. See this post for a way to fix it, maybe.
Were you able to do the wipe data/factory reset as suggested? Or what do you mean by "tried recovery mode today?"

Like, I held down Volume Up/Down and the power button and got the menu where it asked me if I wanted to "wipe data/factory reset" or "clear cache partition" and another option, I clicked "wipe data/factory reset" and now I get "Deleting Cryption Meta Data".
I just made this harder didn't I? Aha..
The only menu I can actually do anything with now looks like this..
(This isn't my phone, just an example of the screen.)

hey guys,
This is rooted sgh-i777. and is going into bootloop. First I tired clean cache then dalvik cache bit no success and then i tried factory reset as well and thats when I see the problem that it wouldn't let me. Its says unable to mount data <invalid argumant>. I read some of xda threads that If I install stock rom again via Odin it would come back to my original state and i did that. After successful flash of stock rom with Odin I was hopeful that it would solve my problem but it wouldn't and it kept getting stuck on "Samsung Galaxy s2" black boot screen and is in bootloop. I thought my kernel might have meesed up and so i installed siyah kernel, it would let me come out of black boot screen but now next it would hung on Siyah logo startup screen. I can still go to CWM recovery mode and can install any rom and clean the cache or dalvik cache but the problem is with /data, it just stuck on formatting /data infinitely.
I would really appreciate any help which could lead me to fix my device.

What stock did you flash? 2.3.4, 2.3.6, 4.0.3, 4.0.4, or 4.1.2?
Since you can still boot into CWM recovery, what happens when you perform a wipe data/factory reset again? And what exactly do you mean "stuck on formatting /data infinitely?"

While in download mode reflash stock firmware using Odin in administrator mode on your PC. Then use Framaroot.apk too root device and flash a kernel with cwm recovery using rom manager. Then install the rom of choice using CWM in recovery mode.

therefore I have to flash stock ics .587 excluding: kernel and simlock.ta but those options aren't available nor visible in my flashtool. and by researching they should be enabled. I tried this on an other computer same deal there

windows 8 - 64 bit

anyone got a clue on how to fix this or what I might be doing wrong?
Do a backup in cwm first
Then simply flash a kernel for sjb and install the rom. You don't really need to flash .587 first, it's just recommended and I didn't do that too
Sent from my SK17i running stock ics (.587)
You can still install .587 and flash the right kernel after that.
Now it got stuck on the fusion logo (installed v5.5), it remains showing up, shutting the phone down and then restart to the logo
any idea's on how to fix that?
I know it says this might take some time, but I've been waiting 4~5h so I think it's stuck

What he meant was flash the Kernel Included with the ROM but there is no Included kernel with Super jelly bean.
Try the latest Lupus kernel (that's the one i use) and try re-flashing SJB.

Thanks I tink I'm slowly getting how this work, but flashing with lupus gives me same just the logo (maybe just installing)
but I think I might be doing something wrong:
Let me just tell what i do in flashtool
phone in fastboot (blue light)
in cmd: > fastboot.exe flash boot "luPus_urushi_jBv8(5).img"
- Start phone
- Root phone (tool I foned that seems to work)
- install x-parts
- install CWM
-- go in recovery mode
----> wipe data / factory reset
----> wipe cache partition
----> wipe dalvik cache
-- In mounts and storage
----> erase system
----> erase data
----> erase cache
-- install from sd
----> SJB
----> gapps
this should work? or might I be forgetting some parts or doing somehting wrong?

If you've already flashed the kernel, then there's no need to root or install cwm again. The kernel has auto root function and cwm included, so simply flash the kernel, do the wipes and install the rom
Sent from my SK17i running stock ics (.587)
yes yes i ment this only! i didnt knew that rom does not include a kernel. so take the kernal which the rom says, and flash it via fastboot. U are goin right

remember you have debugging, external sources checked. and you have the adb drivers installed for your device
Thanks for the info,
But for now my phone is still tuck on the Lupus logo, it just remains there it's doing nothing (or not showing anything)
so for now that's my first problem to fix

Which devoce are you using? The rom might not be working for you. Have you tried cyanogenmod? I am running this rom on my two devices. even the kernal is inbuilt.

After some distraction, I started with a clean head, and even fixed my phone in 1 try
(found out you can access CMW by pressing down arrow while booting the phone)
so now successfully running SJB 5.5 ^^

No they're not.
MDB08M bootloader: 2.01
MDB08M radio: 2.15
MMB29M bootloader: 2.45
MMB29M radio: 2.50
Without these and the vendor image this isn't a proper update, nor if it a flashable factory image as you state in the OP. You need to add a disclaimer in the OP that these need to be flashed separately via fastboot, which kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it? They might as well just flash everything via fastboot.

Users will need to flash the vendor image as well, but that's probably too big to add as an attachment here. Beanstown has a flashable version in his Pure Nexus thread, I'd suggest you ask him if it's OK to link to that from here, and give him credit of course.

vendor if Beanstown is from AOSP, so will it make trouble?

His vendor is taken directly from the factory images, the only difference is he made it flashable in recovery. You're both AOSP anyway.
Why is this in General?
Is this rom now ok to flash from twrp now that you've added the new bootloader img?
5. Flash bootloader with twrp ?
Can someone explain to me the purpose of a rom that still requires you to flash something via adb and a computer? Can't we just get a rom with everything needed built in? Love flashing new roms but I usually download and flash via my phone and don't always have a compatible USB type c cable laying around. Is there anyway to update my phone to 6.0.1 without the need of a computer? I'm rooted with twrp recovery on 6.0 the M build if that helps.
I would like to do that too. Wipe dalvik cache, regular cache, and get on my way. Stock everything. Just unlocked bootloader, rooted with supersu 2.5.2
OP should also state whether this will force encryption or not.
Im assuming it will as its "untouched" but this should be clarified.

I'm still kind of scratching my head with this too. I was under the impression once I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, rooted and have SU permission I could just flash updates without having to wipe my phone every time. I'm really not trying to wipe my phone and then copy over all my pictures and music again.

Why would you need to copy over all your pictures etc after wiping and flashing a rom?

Factory reset wipes all your info and data correct? Pictures, music, downloads, etc. Have to copy them back to the phone since there's no removable storage.

Lol, no sir.
A proper twrp wipe is factory reset, then in advanced wipe only cache, dalvik cache, system and data..thats all. This will not remove pics etc
If you format data/wipe internalthat wipes your internal storage clean which is usually not needed for flashing roms.
You have some reading to do, its good to fully grasp how all this works before flashing anything. Props to you for asking in advance,

Well I've been rooting my devices since my Samsung Moment so throwing around the term "wiping" and "factory reset" have a few different meanings to me since the process is obviously different for different phones and has evolved over the years. I just "factory reset" my Galaxy S5 before I sold it and it removed all my personal data to include pictures and music hence why I asked.
If you can' recommend any threads for me to read to help me understand the process with regards to the 6P then by all means.....

Ah ya one thing, a factory reset with the stock recovery will absolutely wipe the device. Twrp will not...my bad i should have clarified that.
Everything you need should be here.
