SPYWARE, are you safe? - HTC Droid DNA

So I think someone installed spyware on my phone. Is there anyway I can get rid of it, prevent it, and blank the persons blank for doing? The software has to leave a trail of some kind, doesn't it? Don't laugh, it's pretty easy to get on your phone from what I have read, and they can get a lot of info from your phone, listen to your calls, location updates, read your texts and emails, no good or cool.

It'd help if you say what app it is it what evidence there is spyware on your phone

If I am being spied on, how would I know what app it is? Proof? People know things they shouldn't, I'm not going into details, trust me. I believe they listen to the people I speak with thru my phone and one other persons phone close to me. Information these other people always seem to know about us when they shouldn't know. Phone gets warm for no reason, weird numbers, noises and beeps during calls, sometimes we each hear other people talking during our calls. My girl and I both have DNA's, it also happened when we had RAZRs and Fascinates. Her phones, the battery always dies a lot faster than my phones always did. My phone is 90% of the time on wifi, hers not, and her data is always high, she doesn't use her data at all, other than a few emails here and there.

I see you need ROOT, well that should change real soon , just as soon as MOONSHINE is released.

Avast. In the market.

When root arrives I will attempt to build a sense 5 ROM with Pdroid ...total anonymity

Only way you would have spyware is if your face your phone to someone and they installed an app on it.
Or the fbi is watching you. But I'd go with the former over the latter.

Well if people know things they shouldnt I'd check the people you told lol. The other person you were calling most likely told. If it happens on every phone then that's not any spyware on your phone. That's some other type of Anonymous (the group) type hacking.... But honestly it sounds like your puffin too hard on that loud my friend

High battery drain, call echo, unaccounted data use... Yah these are all signs..... of using cdma technology. Maybe stop using Verizon, Sprint, virgin, boost, etc.. just saying. Also your carrier preloads carrier iq on your phone it's a type of monitoring software. So yeah. Root + custom Rom + non cdma network = fun times. Otherwise I agree with poster above me, tin foil is your friend

Ok, that is spyware, for computers, that is installed by parents or it departments to noniter kids/employees.

I know you guys think I'm nuts, but look up cellphone spyware. I wish I could say who is doing it, but that is sensitive info. And it isn't necessarily bad things they know. Just when we go over there they always bring up stuff my girl and I just talked about. When are phone are on us they never ever call. If we both leave our phones at home for a few hours, like when we take the bike out, all the sudden they call constantly. There's tons more. I just want to know how to remove it and prevent it.
It's there, it's real, and all too easy these days to spy on someone using there cell. I've read it can reinstall it self after you factory reset your phone and it is virtually undetectable. Every time we buy new phones the person I speak of sends a text with a pic, after that we never get texted by them. Or after an update (OTA) or otherwise. I was just hoping I could get some real sound advice being this is XDA.
Check it out, I was thinking about doing it to the suspected persons

opps wrong link http://www.mspy.com/?gclid=CJDkwrTPsrcCFSJlMgodzn0AfQ

You still need to install it on the phone. You can't push it on the phone without you knowing. Like it says on the website you linked to, it's either a link you need to click on, a qr code, or copy the install file from a computer via usb.
Either way, just do a factory reset.

It's cool but not without problems.
Anybody know if it's possible to change the keypress/notification sounds?
I'm a little worried that I had to read 3-4 posts down before I understood what all of you were talking about. I even worked for Nextel customer service awhile.
Of course, nothing beats the Chinese woman who called me once, asking how to use her "talkie-walkie." She kept correcting me, too, when I called it Direct Connect. We made no headway at all until I agreed that it was a talkie-walkie.
Have no use for it.....

Well and of course, Launcher Pro Plus

Sucks they don't have this program for iphones. People I wood use this program with are using iphones or phones that aren't smart phones. Would be nice if it allows you to use it with a regular phone. Seems like they could make a lot of money with this program if they could get it to work on other devices that aren't android. Deleting for now.

Hahahaha..thats funny! I do agree this is a good app..funny the app says its still on BETA but i don't see nothing wrong with it..other than it has to be installed on the phone in order for you to use it..this feature should come standard on all smart phones i think. Does bring back the Nextel Feel to it..aka "Talkie-walkie".

It is a beta. Some times I get the network unavailable. ..I have to try couple of more times then work. Also I would like to choose what person to call from a contact list in the app. If u call ur girlfriend then want to call ur friend u have to go into add number and it would erase ur girlfriend. .do same process to call girlfriend again.

Text messages being read out loud.. help

Help. So I was playing robo defense. Got a text and it automatically read it out loud.
Was using handcent. Deleted robo defense and handcent and its still reading them out loud with stock messaging app. Phone on vibrate or loud. Doesn't matter...
I get text it says out loud number and message..
Update: when someone sends me a text it no longer automatically pops up. I have to turn phone on for notification of text and it to be read out loud...
How do I make it stop?? Please. Thanks.

Same here!
I have this same issue myself, it must be a bug. Luckily it always stays on vibrate. It started out of nowhere and I don't feel like doing a hard reset yet. I looked at every single possible option and none were selected. Hope the next MR update will fix it! HTC and VZW are normally very timely and effective at updating their phones so I'm not too worried. I must say, I don't have a single other bug in this phone which is impressive for such new hardware these days.

[Q] Does Verizon care if you root?

At some point this summer I plan on buying a new phone, likely an iPhone. My Samsung is currently running Cyanogenmod and the UI blatantly looks much different than a stock phone.
I'm guessing the answer to all this is they won't care, but if you bring in your rooted/customized phone and the people at Verizon are transferring data or anything from that phone to a new phone or otherwise messing with your rooted phone that works fine, do they care if they notice your phone is rooted? Does it violate any terms relating to your overall contract, or does anyone have any experience with them giving you a lecture about not doing that?
I'm not sure if we are violating our contracts... but I can tell you that the last time I was in my local Verizon store, 3 out of the 4 employees I talked to were running rooted phones. If you are nervous, just Odin back to stock before you go in.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
it's in no way a violation of the contract. Android is all open source so you can do what you want. Most people think it's pretty cool if you have a rooted/rommed phone, although I'm sure a few Verizon people frown upon it. If you bought the phone it's yours, you can do what you want lol

They wouldn't be supporting it. They'd be transferring his account to a new phone, which means he's going to give them money which they usually like. If he was coming in for a repair then they wouldn't. You won't have any problem.

He was asking if he'd have any trouble with them transferring data like contacts to a new device. If the new device is an android, pretty much everything including contacts is backed up on Google servers so no problem, but if he gets an iPhone like he mentioned, I'm not sure how they would transfer contact data. But that's something it might be helpful to be back on the stock software for. Just my two cents, like I said I don't know how that data transfer between a fascinate and iOS device would go.

That's what I thought too, but didn't know if that app comes on iPhones. I thought they came free of any carrier software, which is something I've gotta give Apple credit for. Although knowing how simple they make iOS devices for technologically unsavvy people, I've gotta think there's a pretty simple way to get your contacts.
I'm not really sure what you'd need Verizon for when getting a new device either, the only thing I can think of is getting your sim card for an LTE device.

Phone spying on me?

One thing I have noticed is that my phone seems to be spying on my activities.
My phone knows where I work and when I work and get off. It tells me my commute time and etc. One time it told me when/where my girlfriend works when I was taking her on the regular. I checked National games for the sake of metro and its the phone has started to give me MLB game times and scores. I had a time when my phone gave me an alert to attend a cookout from my car insurance company. It had emailed me this weeks in advanced. I also get advertisements for games I have looked at that pop up.
Is the Android/Google taking it too far by monitoring your activities?

Bastard Stole My Wife's Phone Today.

Just wanted to vent. Put it down in the WaWa, sometime picked it up, with her purse, and took off!
Android Device Manager, not so useful. Tracked the phone until it was turned off, I sent lock and wrote commands which was accepted but have no clue if it really went through. Verizon says it's dead, even on skell services like frawg.
Asurion replacement coming, rep assured it'll be new and not a refurbished unit. Insurance it's a good thing. Venting over.
Thank God for insurance. Opportunists everywhere. That's why mine is always on hand, in my pocket or on the table in front of me. Sorry for your wife's loss. Hope it's backed up!

Or a way to sort the lithium battery. Explosive "fun".
That sucks someone tried to steal my gf's phone on the bus one day but thankfully there was a cop at the stop that was able to get him. and yes insurance is a life saver!
Someone tried stealing my phone. Unlucky for him I work with a lot of cops and used a plan b app. Locked the phone (to where it can't even be turned off without pin, none removable battery), tracked it as I could then activated a siren function.
Guy was pulled out of a cafe with a siren alarming phone by cops while I unlocked the phone, proving it was mine.
Good thing for insurance though. Never trust provider to track it.
