Official Youtube xap file - Windows Phone 8 Apps and Games

Does anyone have the first version of the Microsoft Youtube xap file? It may be wise to keep a backup of it before it is updated to include ads. Or at the very least does anyone have version 2 which has disabled the downloads of videos but at least it does not show youtube ads. Some of us can store the xap file on are sd card and install from sd after a factory reset on phone.

Try this: http://dfiles.eu/files/dx6n7i76t
(this is official version from market store)

Thank you sir.

can we sideload if we developer unlock?
can we side load this xap if we developer unlock our phone, can we developer unlock windows phone 8? I am tempted to just pay the $100

No, you can't. XAP files downloaded from the Web Marketplace are encrypted and sideloading is therefore not possible. Also upon installation the license is validated and you won't be able to install outdated XAP files. So basically that copy is worthless at the moment.

Someone on another thread said if you unzip the xap delete the app header file you can then sideload

Wait did you guys say we could install the xap from our SD card?
Sent from my SGH-T899M using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

You can download XAP files from the Web Marketplace, copy them to the SD card and install from there. It will still check if the signature is correct, if the App is still available and if the version you are trying to install is the most recent one. You can't install XAPs from the SD card that are not from the Marketplace.
And you could do it with old XAP-Files (removing the headers that is) but that was way before WP8, so no: you can't sideload Marketplace Apps in any way due to the encryption that so far has not been broken.

I see argh!

I have the xap and a dev unlock account but so far no one has been able to de encrypt marketplace apps and any talk of that, people start freaking out about piracy, I just don't want to give this app up when I switch phones, I seriously use it all the time

Original youtube app is back to the market store: http://www.windowsphone.com/pl-pl/store/app/youtube/dcbb1ac6-a89a-df11-a490-00237de2db9e

As far as I can tell, this is an update to the version after they removed all the "cool" stuff (downloading videos, avoiding ads). So yeah, it's an update, and yeah, it's sort-of like the original app (same AppID and all), but it appears to be missing the features that people actually were excited about when it was first released.
@noelito: if removing PlayReady DRM was that easy, or even practical right now at all, it would have been done a while ago.

I'll stick with my version 1 of the YouTube app then, now that I have internet sharing back and a decent camera on my ATIV S , I am satisfied at the moment with my phone

Yes it is all over the news google has blocked the Microsoft YouTube app
Sent from my SGH-T899M using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

@noelito If you interop-unlock your device, you can "save" the unencrypted/extracted version to your PC. Then it's a trivial matter to turn it into a side-loadable xap that we can all use!

The thing is google has blocked this app , so even if I do that, the app is useless in that fashion too

Market question

Since I can't open my prime until tomorrow, I have a question. I'm assuming I can use the same Google account on the tab and my phone. So will every app that I get (free or paid) be downloaded to both devices? Like say I download xda on my phone, will that automatically get downloaded to the prime or will I have to physically instal it on the other device? That's foe the help. I can't wait to open this friggen thingthing
Sent from my DROIDX using xda premium
Yes. All such apps will download OR show you the option to download them, without additional purchase, since they're be tied to your Google Market account.
As far as I know, all apps from Google Market are tied to your Google account, and not your device id.
Thanks. So I guess if they just automatically download I can just delete then I that device.

I was looking and couldn't figure out where to see the apps that i paid for on my prime
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using XDA App
They won't automatically download to both. If you download from the device, it'll only install to that one. If you download from the PC Market site, it'll ask what you want to install it on. It would be incredibly annoying if every single app I got on my phone also installed on my Prime. IF you check the box to download all your apps when first booting the Prime, it'll download all the apps from your account though, but it won't continuously sync purchases and install them without you though, thankfully.

In the market, hit the menu icon and select "My Apps." The ones installed will be at the top, the ones purchased but not installed on the device will be towards the bottom, separated by a line.
Thanks guys. I now have my answer

You'll also have to make sure the app is compatible with the TF Prime. If not, it won't let you download through Android Market.

[Q] antivirus?????

all age groups of people here..
im saying no a mobile phone simply does not need antivirus.
about the language it doesnt really matter. even if a kid reads it, sooner or later when they grow up they will use that language anyway
Why not? I thing is not so bad for some people use antivirus as tool make wipe all data or try localization via antivir like avast etc. Dont forget, mobile antivir IS NOT SAME like pc antivir.

Antivirus is not needed if download apps only from Market. If outside Play Store, then you might get some bug in your phone indeed.
Android viruses are not popular enough yet.
Some info on the matter.
You only "need" an antivirus on rooted devices. If you havent rooted your device, then you shouldn't have an issue, since every possible virus out there needs root privileges in order to do some damage to your phone.
Since android is build based on linux, there are basically very few viruses out there. But as always, a little caution in what you install never hurt anyone.
Yes, it's useful...
1 - If you use your phone as an mass storage device, some virus from Windows can infect your sd card...
2 - if you lose your phone, most of the antivirus can help you to find the phone, and lock the device so others can't use them..
3 - if you download apps from "black market" or visit porn on your phone, ( yeah, I do that sometimes too..) it can protect your phone from malicious apps and others threads..

For now my phone remains fast, stable and battery friendly without any av software. But i know for sure where my apps came from and dont use the mini for web browsing - there may be other scenarios.
LOL No,you don't need an AntiVirus yet on Android devices if you know what you re doing and if you re careful about app permissions esp on a rooted phone.
The Windows virus on SD card comment made me laugh! :-D

with windows virus you may transfer it to another windows, but it cannot possibly affect your android system.
i second the fact that unless you are rooted, you would not need an antivirus..
also google play removes malicious software from the store.
anti theft is possibly the only reason one would want to install an antivirus,
thanks for the comments
My phone is rooted,i download application from blackmarket,am going to try an antivirus let me see its usefull or not
As long as you don't install apps from untrustworthy sources you should be fine.
In any case, Avast seems to be pretty decent when compared to the other alternatives. Read about it in Android AV reviews somewhere. The firewall function is pretty sweet too to let some apps connect through WiFi only or not at all.

Gandhar said what had to be said. I am using a Mcaffe antivĂrus my Carrier gave me with a free full 1 Year license. The GPS tracking, wipe and block functions in case of a lost or theft phones are sweet. And if you are not rooted, no need for an av.
Windows viruses inside SD? Yeah, true. But than you can blame the Windows user who didn't has a decent av software to block it.

Windows viruses can only affect other PCs when mounting your SD card.In Android they re irrelevant.
I did install Avast last night and found out that a Flashlight app that needed GPS permissions (!).
Other than that,I also liked the Anti-Theft protection which by the way you can keep even if you uninstall the virus scanner.

Like people said, Windows viruses do not work on Android.
For anti-theft, use Prey. It's a great free app, that only starts working when phone receives SMS with specific text. I use it.

Looks cool but it must be connected to same network (192.168.1.xx)!
I dont really know if you want it to immediately install, but if you dont then use some cloud storage etc. Dropbox, Box, Google Drive and then download it to your phone. But if you want it to be immediately installed after you send it then I am afraid I cant help you.
I think the best way would be some kind ofvpn network way to remote control Your phone

Well, if you could upload your apk to there, that would be the best way. You might have to design your own app, unless you can figure out a way to adb over the internet, then you could use adb push and adb install.
Other than that, you have to make your own api for it. And it would only work on rooted phones.

OP didnt say he downloaded the apk illegally or that its a rom he stole. Its an apk that didnt work for some reason. He could have easily pulled the install files from another device he owns on which he payed for the game. And root check could be keeping something he paid for from working. While he may have gotten it illegally its rude to automatically assume that he did so. lets be more friendly.

Ok, no need to be robin hood, but moving files doesnt need to be done if he alreqdy owned the game. Save files move over with an issue, but its the license check which is screwing him over.

Not if he had it on another device. Save files wouldn't move over automatically. Not trying to robin hood lol. Just saying you are probably right about the license check though. I also believe some games have root checkers. Op could try to use wanam to hide root from it and see if that works.

I have both on my rooted 605, and they both work flawlessly.
To those stating that he could have transferred them from one device to the other: Since these games are referenced as compatible, he can re-download them on his 605. I have them on both my Note 3 (also rooted) and my Note 10.1 2014ed. (yes, I know, it's useless, I need to uninstall them from the Note 3...)
On the other hand, while these Final Fantasy work without any problem, I've never been able to see anything from Drakerider, also from SquareEnix. It seems they have discontinued support since android 4.3.
"OBB" files are nestled well into the android OS file tree becuase its mainly registry and DMR verification files which are installed during the APK process....
save files.. character files and extra game data files are almost ALWYAS stored either in secondary memory.. or external data sections in directories named after the game or the developer itself.
this means.. YES>. admitting that they are having to transfer over OBB files when the APK installs them automattically is him in an indirect way admitting hes a stolen APK.
and likly an outdated one with bugs for newer versions of android OPS which are fixed on newer files.
robinhooding or not.. regulations are there to prevent said developers from attacking and shutting down the website for illegal behavior.. no matter what the views of the individual poster or moderator might be.
all it takes is one person crossing the line tothe point one person decides to press a lawsuit.. and XDA is shut down.
simply put.. if he has the legit version off of google play its already giving him an option to auto update.. and as weve seen for other 1.1-2014 users.. the games work fine for the tablet... he onl yneeds to update through google play and play his heart out.
if hes having to transfer the registery files.. then the likely scenarrio is its NOT a legit copy.. is vastly outdated.. and hes byond our help becuase were not alowed to doscuss how to get hacked/stolen files to function.

[APP] Microsoft Office Mobile v15

Hi all,
Microsoft released Office Mobile today for Android and iOS. I noticed that our Ultras (and a bunch of other phones) aren't compatible in the Play Store, so i dug up the APK. Office Mobile is 100% free for Android, so it should be fine to post it here.

That's really weird. Maybe your browser isn't downloading it correctly or something? I uploaded it to Dropbox, so try this one instead and see if it helps. Or you can compare the MD5 sum to the APK in the first post to the one you've downloaded. They should be identical.
