[Q] Accidently deleted Video Player - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I am new to this site. I just need your help. I rooted my galaxy s2 and installed deodexed rom with multi window feature. But the thing is that I accidently deleted default video player and now I am not able to play videos on tv via all share. I dont want to install that ROM again. So I just want its default video player and the instruction on how can I install that. pls reply me asap

You should be able to re-install the ROM without wiping data/cache and ensure that the video player is checked (if using Aroma installer).
Alternatively, you may be able to find an .apk and install from your SD.
There are many other third party video players in the play store as well - some, arguably better!

There's always an .apk ! Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204423 .
If not, reinstall the ROM but no need to wipe if re-installing if that's what was putting you off doing it.

[Q] Problem with playing video stored on phone/sd card

Hi all, I've been very interested with XDA-Developers since i bought my LG P500. I'm currently having an issue with video playback on my phone. Here's a quick rundown of my slightly tweaked phone:
Stock Froyo 2.2 rom v10a
Franco kernel v18.1
Rooted phone with superuser, rom manager, titanium backup, root explorer etc..
And here's my problem:
I wanted to get rid of the buggy stock video app on my froyo, and use one from the market. So, i took precautions and made a backup of stock video player 1.64 using TBackup, deleted the stock vid app using TB itself, then installed a new video app from the market (actually i installed a few..). But when i try to play a video stored on my phone/sdcard with my new vid app, it causes a 'force close' error for all the different vid apps.
I then thought i might hav made an error deleting the stock vid app. So i tried to restore it using TB, but when trying to restore, it remained stuck on the 'Restoring App' and kept on and on trying to restore. I even needed to restart my phone for that to stop, and of course the stock vid app was still not restored.
I tried another workaround: using root explorer, i gained access to system/app folder on my phone and tried to install the stock system video.apk in it, with R/W. still nothing.tried changing the permissions as well, still nothing. I am at a loss here friends, and do not intend to flash a custom rom for the moment [i.e. until i try the official gingerbread rom and see for myself if it is good enough, else, either mik's 6.6 or noejn's rom..] So please, help me guys on this one to get my stored videos working again on my stock froyo rom..
Thx.
Have u tried rockplayer universal version.. and make sure that the video is not above the resolution of 680*320
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
No i havent tried rockplayer, but i'll give it a go, even though i'm pretty sure the outcome will be the same. Also, the video i am trying to play is one which i recorded with my lg p500 camera itself. That video was playing fine before i removed the stock video app.. Now no video stored on my phone is playing. On the other hand, my youtube app streams youtube videos just fine..
I think maybe i am gonna hav to look for a system dump, extract the stock vid app, and somehow try to shove it into system apps using root explorer..

I think that's the way to go. Get hold of it from somewhere, from a nand backup, or from a stockrom.zip. Plus the stock rom is not deodexed, so you'll need the apk and the odex file as well. Or you could simply perform a factory reset.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
As it is, there is no odex file for the stock movie player app in system/app folder. Can anyone please brief me as to how I should go about restoring my stock vid app on my lg p500 and get my vids to work again?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Do u have any idea where i can get an odex file for the stock video player app? i cant seem to find one anywhere.. I've also got a nand backup, but they r all img. files.. how should i go about extracting the apk and odex files i need from the nand backup?
Just try this enable USB debugging than use TB to restore the app.

Still doesn't work even with usb debugging on. TB wont restore it at all.. It's like stuck in a loop while trying to restore the stock vid app.. Can anyone send me a link where I can download a system dump of froyo 2.2 for lg p500?

Regarding the TB restoring issue, I face it every time and I've totally stopped trying to restore. I got fed up
Have you tried flashing the addon packages for void forever ROM? There is a package which has the stock video app I suppose. Try flashing it through CWM.
[EDIT]: Sorry I didn't notice that you're using 2.2. I don't think the void forever addon pack would work.
I've finally found a workaround for this problem guys.i downloaded a vid app called mx video player as well as it's associated codec addon from the market.my stored vids are working again as long as I keep both of them apps on my phone..
The pair of them (app + addon) are quite heavy though, anyone knows a lighter equivalent by any chance?

install busybox from market, run the app and click install, its shows status- done which can give u R/W access to system partition and the install vm heap tool. set vm heap size 48 MB. then install mobo player and then mobo player codec from then market. go to the menu of mobo player tick mark soft decording option. and ur phone can play even 720p videos. Its lag but its can play. Use XVID4PSP convert software for best playing for P-500

[Q] Flash player manual installation issue MiniCM7 Pro - V7

I installed last MiniCM7 Pro V7 for my x10 mini pro, and all is working fine except flash player installation.
I mean, in the new rom, V7, the flash player have been erased. So i installed manually the flash player made for the X10 mini cpu i mean the flash player for Armv6. This one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155071
But each time i reboot, in the software manager, it's written again 0KB for flash player.
Flash player manual installation seems to be erased after reboot. How could i keep the installation of the Flash player?
Thanks
Sorry for the double post...
When i reboot, in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib the libflashplayer.so is erased.
So the deletion of this lib is made during the boot i think, but i didn't find anything like that in init.rc
I'm still a noob on android, but well used to Unix systems so if it's an easy question sorry.
I tried the same but in my case got the "Application not installed" message.
What I did was to use TitaniumBackup to search and remove "Flash Player" and "Flash SVG Player" if they're there, and then installed the Flash Player you posted
Just one weird thing I got was that some flash images were totally black (maybe bad transparency handling) but at least it worked for me.
Good luck!
Okay i will try that tomorrow. Thanks a lot
Installation succeed. But each time i try to watch a video with it, the browser crash...
I tried different .apk, with different releases of flash player for Armv6, all crash...

Yep, I got those crashes too, maybe because it's a too old version, tried to install the new version out there but didn't work
I think it's because it's not optimized for the armv6, as adobe did for the armv7.
It works just for little tiny things in flash. Well better than nothing

[Q] kies asks for codes

hi there
i have a question about Kies.
today i was trying to install some videos from my gs2 to kies.
when i want to watch the videos there came a message that there where no codes found. and some link to an codec site.
could someone tell me how to get the right codes. i`ve installed kies allready again on my computer and reset my phone to factory install but nothing worked..
marcel
Codecs are for video formats, follow the link and install what it recommends, or you can install the klite codec pack, get the mega version and install everything apart from players.
Link: http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Codecs not codes. Why not follow the instructions on whatever site Kies sent you to?
Failing that, you probably have two main choices; either install codecs on your computer (probably ffdshow) or use a standalone player with codecs built in, like videolanclient (vlc).
i have allready tried to installed some of the recommended programs witch i was linked to.
they all didn`t work. i never had any problems with kies and playing any recorded videos from my phone. till today. if some of you have any other options please tell me.
or could one of you explain me how to use the klite codec pack. because i cant find any files to convert.
You shouldn't need to convert, klite should let you play any video file.
I an not sure how kies works as i have never used it.

Issues with MIUI

Hi there, just bought a used Vibrant S, this is my first android phone
MIUI 2.3.7 and cyanogen mod 7 were already installed on this phone. Now I am having some issues, like
-Applications often unexpectedly crash
-From what I read on some sites, Vibrant can play WMV and AVI files by default through its own media player but mine only plays MP4, I installed moboplayer, rockplayer, mxvideoplayer, mvideoplayer..but none of them work, as soon as I click the video(from the app) it takes me back to app, only moboplayer can play videos but they are very laggy..
I think these issues are because of custom rom ? What should I do ?
If you don't want to be on the bleeding edge you'd probably be better off with 2.2 stock or one of the many custom 2.2 roms out there. I experiment a lot myself, but I always keep a nandroid of Project V handy. It's my "go-to" rom when I want my phone to just be a friggin phone that does everything without drama.

I read some threads, that one too^ but I was afraid I might not brick my phone
I'm running the latest MIUI Rom and I have absolutely no problems whatso ever. Either mobo player or MX player should play all or most video formats. I use MX player and it plays all formats. Maybe you just had a bad flash or it hiccuped during your flash process.
My advice is to just try and reflash MIUI as I had a few bad flashes before as well, but reflashing the rom usually fixed it. Just make sure you follow the instructions to a T as far as clearing Dalvik cache, etc....

I was thinking about doing that, is there battery drain issue in MIUI ? my phone drained almost 35% battery in 9hrs standby.
btw is there a way to mount internal memory as sdcard? because some apps require sdcard for backup and I have no external sdcard.

Can't Play Any Type of Video on GS1

Hello, I'm a new member here. I've browsed the forums from time to time but never registered until today because I'm in need of some help.
After browsing and searching online and on this forum, I haven't seen anyone with a problem similar to mine.
So, being brief:
Not a single type of video is playable on my phone. Youtube.com, YouTube App, videos from my phone's SD Card, videos I recorded with this phone a few days ago, nothing. Videos I was able to watch on my phone before also suddenly stopped working. I also can't record videos.
On the other hand, my camera works perfectly, so does the music player.
I haven't added any weird adds or anything of the sort. I've attached screenshots of my "About Phone" info, and two other screenshots of what it looks like when I try to play videos on the YouTube App and videos that are directly saved on my phone.
If help is available, I'll appreciate it highly.
Thanks in advance!
Pedro.
P.S. I'm posting here continuing from the Galaxy S I9000 General forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27504129#post27504129).
Since then, I've done the following:
-Rebooted the system and re-installed the latest Kernel version.
-Uninstalled and re-installed YouTube.
-Installed MX Player. This solved the problem I faced while playing videos from my phone, but still can't watch videos from YouTube.
-Went through my Apps and found that I'm missing the Video Player app (click picture)
-Facroty Reset to no avail.
I'm running out of ideas right about now. I've had this phone for about a month and a half, and installed ICS on it on day 3 or so. Ever since, the videos were working properly, lagless and flawlessly, just a few days ago problems started appearing.
Perhaps the Video Player apk would do? I can't seem to find it anywhere for my phone.
Thanks a lot!
Hmmm never heard that befoure..
I gues it has something to do with the custom rom ure running on ur I9000
but befoure whipeing data/cash partition u may try this
go to settings --> aplications --> search for youtube (u found it ive seen it on ur screenshots ) open the dialouge box where u can uninstall it and delete all aplication data (its like a factory reset for the app) afterwards try again
if nothin works backup contacs messages etc and head for the recovery mode whipe data/cash

Well, had to install another custom ROM. It seems the one I had wasn't compatible with the Kernel I was using. Problem has been solved, and now I'm using 4.0.4, so it's all good!
Thanks a lot for the constant help!

Hello, in order not to start a new thread, I'm gonna post here.
I have a chinese tablet(Herotab C8) with I9000 internals(S5PC110).
I have some green artifacts in the upper left corner on youtube videos(using Youtube app) and also in some games intro videos. On some games videos I have green artifacts, on others I have some strange horizontal lines.
Here is an example, filmed by me:
http://youtu.be/pczqsus_v6U
The first, with the green stuff is a youtube app video, the next is the intro of NFS Hot Pursuit.
I've tried an .avi on Mobo Player and it works just fine, no green artifacts(although in software mode, ARMv7 codecs installed...)
If anyone has any ideea, please share!
Thanks!
