WiiU Pro Controller - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've been trying for like five straight days to figure out a method to get the WiiU Pro Controller to work with my HTC One and I've had no luck. The problem is that I need a pin to enter on my phone to pair it when in reality you don't and that's the problem. I can't find a way to bypass not entering a key. I've tried everything and have failed, I'd pay to see someone to get this to work and I think this could be the place. Any help?

Same here. I am looking and will report back if I find something

Anybody have info on this? I have had no luck with the PS3 controller or the Wii U Pro controller and would love a solution.

I don't have any experience with the WiiU Pro controller but Android 4.2 broke Wiimote support. I am running a 4.1 ROM to use a Wiimote for games. Also I used to own an HTC device and Sense wasn't compatible with Wiimotes and I had to switch to CM to use one but that was ages ago.. Food for thought.

Hey there,
I've lately been exploring the true potential of the Wii U Pro Controller. So far I have been able to pair it with PC and utilize it flawlessly with a Steam game (Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition), so I've moved on to see it's capabilities in the android world.
I've done quite a bit of research and can confirm the only way you can possibly utilize this controller up till today is with an app that specifically claims to support it. At the moment the only known ones are any of Robert Broglia's apps. He has managed to incorporate a feature called "Scan for Wiimotes/iCP/JS1" which works like magic with the Wii U Pro Controllers. I have been able to connect 4 controllers to it just by enabling the scan and pressing the "Sync" button on each controller. Unfortunately though this doesn't actually "pair" the controllers per say, it seems like it's only a very temporary connection which disappears once you press Home button or exit the app. This limits you to only SNES/GB and the other few apps he has but hey at least it's a start.
Now moving onto the actual "pairing" side of things - I have recently downloaded a number of bluetooth manager apps and joystick input apps to experiment with, and using a combination of a few, I was able to somehow pair the controller!
[See attached, noobs aren't allowed to post URLs ]
HOWEVER - unfortunately I have tried using it with a few apps (mainly N64 ones) and it seems to be totally unresponsive. Either that or perhaps I'm not using the correct Joystick button mapping apps...
Btw I'm still using 4.1.2, during my research I've noticed a lot of people on 4.2 have been unsuccessful with most of what I've mentioned above...

Unfortunately, I dont remember
No, regardless of it being paired, there is not a single way I can use it, all four lights on the controller remain blinking (probably normal till an intended-for-use app instructs it to light only 1 LED), and whatever app I try to use it with, won't register or recognize any keypresses.

I assume your Android OS version is later than 4.1.2?

Supposedly this works, but you may need to attach a bluetooth dongle to your device (yes, even though it already has bluetooth built in):

is this the app?

uh.... i found this app in the app store recently and was curious if this would help anybody... it claims that i works with wii remotes and does work with the ps4 controller~
the reason that i cant comfirm if it works or not is because i dont own a wii u pro controller (yet lol)
i hope this helps! sorry if it doesnt
damn it aparently i cant post links yet..
anywho you can search this in the android market and it should send you to one of his apps

This might help anybody having pairing issues. My nabi 2 has an option for ''bluetooth time out'' before changing it to ''never off'' i couldn't pair my phone. Afterwards it paired effortlessly.

[Q] Gamepad for E10i?

There are a lot of emulators on the market. As far as I was able to try, most of them run really good on the mini, except you can't quite control the games one touch at a time.
The mini has a multitouch capable panel, although Sony hasn't and will not enable it.
My question is if there is any gamepad that will work on the mini, while the xda community doesn't come up with a way to enable the multitouch on our devices
Cheers
You could give this a try:

(Using a Wiimote) - reported to work on the X10, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on an X10mini
Thanks a lot! That was really helpful!
Unfortunately I don't have a wiimote now to try this, I'll borrow one and give it a try.
I'll get back here once I do.
Thanks again!
It works flawlessly!
Thanks again for the tip!

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I forgot to send the message last time when it was fresh!!
There is an app on the market that allows you to use the ps3 controller via bluetooth, it works very well indeed. The only problem is configuring games to run with this, but I think you can map hardware and soft keys to the gamepad to make a more complete experience. Emulators have been working flawlessly.
The only problem with this solution is that the X10 mini is so tiny that positioning it to play can be annoying, also, battery drain is quite high and the gamepad is bigger then the phone!!
Hope this helps, I'll try to dig up the app name, It's a paid app, but I believe at the time it was 1 dollar!!

[Q] WiimoteController app not working

It comes up with the following error:
An error occured. Last error: No route to host.
Then it says that it might not work on unmodified Samsung devices. Any way to modify my device so that it'll work?
it is known that this app do not work in any galaxy phone, even the description on the app say it.
i hope they fix it... or make an app to use the PS3 controller xD
Yes I realize that the apps says it wont work on unmodified phones, that's why I'm asking if theres any modification available that'll allow me to do it. Otherwise I'll probably have to wait for Cyanogen.

i think the problem is with touchwiz, yeah, i think u will have to wait to cyanogen or wait for another app or an update,
i dont own a wii controler, and i want to try it too, maybe ill go to a game store to try it.. but i want the other controler, the big old fashioned (if i can find it) or maybe use the PS3 controller (no app yet)
It doesn't work because of Samsung's bluetooth stack, so we are pretty much waiting on CM to allow us the use of wiimotes. I wouldn't count on app updates, the wiimote app has only been updated once in like a year, and that update hasn't fixed compatibility with Samsung devices.
The Phonejoy and iControlPad both work, I have a Phonejoy and its nice to use with the emulators (especially with MHL, as you can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bmtulP9Vlg).

Hi Zulu, I think I saw someone get a bit of hate for this suggestion with your Nexus Player LolliRock ROM but is it possible to install the Leanback Launcher onto this full Android ROM and emulate most of the Android TV experience? My reason would be that I want the freedom of the full Play Store app and settings but I do like the Android TV interface for use from my couch.
Also, presumably this requires an unlocked bootloader but not root because I've been struggling to root my 16 GB model.
Thanks for your work.

Sure that you can. The leanback launcher is a stupid launcher like others but just a little more stupid because not support mouse. But you can start Android TV apps also without leanback launcher. http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=leanback+launcher&post_type=apps_post
You can start the leanback launcher also like an app if you create a shortcut like in this video https://youtu.be/NMqz8e33oq8 So when you install Android TV apps, you can have all in one bad place that is the leanback launcher. Without create a shortcut for every Android TV app. ( 10 in total )
I prferer Googl Now Launcher.
People not understand that you need just more accessibility on apps and this depend from developers.
You can control an app with a mouse, dpad or controller if a developer want this.
After that you can use Android, Android TV or also Android NOOB.
One thing is sure, Android TV is limited on purpose and you can't have all apps from Google Play.
The 320 dpi in build.prop is not compatible with many beautiful apps also if you sideload.
Every standard app is better and faster than the leanback version. Try standard youtube and leanback youtube to understand.
For me the life is too short to waste time with directional keys. I never used a classic Smart TV for this reason and all my TV are Smart TV.
For this reason i like full Android.
You think that if Android TV was better than Android I lose most of my free time to build these firmware ? I'm not so stupid.
But do not worry i appreciate and respect the requests of all
To have Youtube at 1080p and up read this post
https://plus.google.com/+VideomapIt/posts/QiC1Pksvzaq
I suggest to read also the comments. to understand really what i think.
I am very tired of the forced closures made to defend the economic interests of a few.
Many of these closures are also passed off as security but are just violations of the rules for fair competition between companies.
I hope I am not overlooking something due to lack of sleep, but am I correct in saying the nvidia game controller that came with the box doesn't work in this rom? My box isn't recognizing the controller after flashing rom, gapps, and su
After reading a little closer I see it can be made to work if connected via usb, but I much rather have it work wireless since I use the box connected to a network cable and wireless network connection doesn't pose any interference for me. Is there a way to restore the wireless controller connection?

For the controller in wireless mode: ( wired works well )
Request it to Nvidia sayng:
Please Nvidia if you sell an hardware controller, why you not publish the drivers for Android, Windows and Linux like all other companies that sell an hardware controller ? Or explain how to add it in a custom firmware ? You publish also the source code, why not publish it as closed binaries like others parts proprietary ?
In the second post you can find an alternative to use the controller in wireless mode.
It work better than native wireless mode, everyone can compare also in Nvidia Grid. ( Grid is beautiful also with my bad adsl )
And don't forget that you can use also any other standard controller ( also a 5$ chinese controller ), because the voice search capability and audio routing is possible in this firmware in many ways. The smarter way to make voice search in google now ( the full google now ) is with a webcam attached or with a bluetooth headsets. It's smarter because you can do this without nothing in your hands. Just sayng: " OK Google " + videochats in hangout and more...
Unfortunally i can't solve this for now. The only one thing that not work, but not for my incompetence.
I don't want use bad words to explain better why this behaviour. But smart people can understand.
Has anyone tried this on a shield tablet? I would assume you ca get a close experience. Also are the Nvidia apps bundled in the rom(controller, grid, game stream)

I like this ROM, but I have come across a few things that might make me go back to stock. The problem with wireless game controller not working unless tethered to the device (Not zulu99's fault), and Doom 3 will no longer run. You start it and it immediately just goes back to the home screen without any error to reference. I downloaded the stock image and am still debating as to whether I want to go back to stock or not.. I didn't say it before and I should have, but thanks for all the time and effort you have invested in this ROM.

This firmware is for Shield Console, not for Shield Tablet.
Shield hub that have also grid inside can be downloaded directly from goole play.
for game stream i can work on the nvidia proprietary apk, but i tested Screen Stream Mirroring app and it work.
You can also record your gameplay with any app for screen recording so this is not a problem.

Forgive my confusion but isn't the point of this rom to mimic the shield console on other android devices? I have the tablet and want to add the android TV experience to it and immersive mode. Wouldn't flashing this Tom accomplish that?

No i ported full Android to Shield Console, because on Android TV you are in a walled garden and you can't have all apps from google play
In Android Tv you have also by default density to 320 dpi that is not good for standard apps.
If you like immersive mode you can simply use xposed framework.
Thanks for the clarification. With that said how can I get the android TV experience with Google now search on my tablet? Is it possible?

Creating a Marshmallow-compatible Sixaxis alternative

Hi All,
I have a PS4 controller that I've been using between my Nexus 6 and Shield tablet using the Sixaxis Controller app. When my N6 got Marshmallow, Sixaxis stopped working and instead showed these errors when starting up
Code:
Could not load bluetooth library...
Error: Failed to configure bluetooth...
Could not load HCI library...
Some posts online said it might be because the app needed to request new permissions for api 23. I've tried decompiling, adding the permission, and recompiling with APK Studio. I also installed it as a system app. No change, still broken.
With no word from the Sixaxis dev months after 6.0's release, my question is: what would it take to write a Marshmallow-compatible Sixaxis alternative? I have some experience writing apps, but haven't touched JNI/NDK. Also, I've been doing some research on the history of Bluez vs. Bluedroid and it looks like there aren't really any equivalents to hcitool and hcidump for Bluedroid.
To clarify, the goal is only to get the controller to connect to the system. I'm not interested in the touch mapping, mouse emulation, or other extra features.
I'm interested in it too, don't know why no one ever replied. We can try to make an open sourced app.
Is there any document about the protocol used by PS3 controller? Seems like PS3 controller use some incompatible bluetooth protocol, I used Sixaxis app before, when I connected PS3 controller using BT, all other BT devices were dropped.
I am also getting this issue. No responses?
I have the same problem. any solution?
Yes please, not that I can help, but it'd be greatly appreciated.
Bump
Still nothing? It wouldn't be as bad but the native DS4 pairing mode sucks so bad on Android (Massive input delay after 30 seconds)
EDIT: Their website 404's... http://dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/about.html
they are alredy working on it http://dancingpixelstudios.com/2016/02/05/migration-to-wordpress/
Love this app. I'm glad he still rocking. Google should just buy him out and implement this into their future OS... Give this man a job!
I am also having the same problem on HTC one m8 with gpe 6.0 rom.
Any news?
So far I have seen no update, but on his site he says he is working on it.
looks like there is no update for this
Is there any alternative available for this?
It' been months and still no update. Does someone know any alternative solution or app?

Gamepad Mapping Without Root?

I'm looking for an app that makes it possible to remap buttons of any USB or Bluetooth gamepad for using in android games. (Touch Input). Something like:
Nvidia Shield Gamepad Mapper:
or, Droid4X Gamepad Mapper:
I know that there are some apps like "Tincore" or "Game Keyboard+" that do this, But they need root & I don't want to root my android device.
So Any suggestion?
Then you will be out of luck as root is required for it.

You cannot do this without root, either root and get what you desire or just live with it.
Touch4Gamepad is working fine without root. But you need an Arduino Board and a PS3/PS4 or Xbox One Gamepad, all connected with USB OTG => USB Hub.
LOL. U all failed!

Octopus is not working with Google Play. Also not working with any Android Device (lot of people have many problems).
Also tested it with NVidia Shield TV... not working, and so on and so on... . Octopus is trying to hack the games, that's the reason for these many problems. Last but not least: Octopus needs 54 System Permissions ... not untrustworthy.
Have you looked at the permissions Octopus demands? Pretty crazy to give that up.
I agree, but

I fully agree, those permissions are ridiculous, but the fact that the app works (or at least mostly does), means that it should be possible without root.
I'm surprised no one has come up with any app for it yet.
I've managed to partly get it to work with Octopus, but don't want to pay for premium to make it work completely.
I would write an app for it myself but my programming knowledge is just enough to get a "Hello World" on the screen, and even for that I would need to follow online instructions.
But I know we got some very smart people in the community, can't one, or a group together, create an app like that?
