Sometimes battery stucks at xx% charging - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I have apparently a problem with my SGS3 battery. I usually put my phone to charge every night, ok, from week to week, when I get wake up at the morning, it gets stuck at xx% (several % from 4x% to 8x%) no matter the hours it gets connected to the charger, the only way to solve to complete the charge is rebooting the phone.
Happened to me with several roms, from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2, and I don't have a single clue about what causes this.
Any tip/advice would be appreciated. Should I buy another wall charger? Maybe battery issue then?
Thanks in advance.

happened with me with s3 charger it took ages to charge 1% i used a s2 charger and works perfectly

I have a Nexus One charger, I didn't want to try with different chargers because of they have different voltages and so but... I was mistaken, the two have the same V. - A. output: 5V - 1A
Time to try tonight and a few days with it, I hope it didn't happen again

Occasionally I use a charger that I normally use for my Raspberry Pi.. it's 2 amp.
Charges the phone ridiculously quickly, but it gets really hot so I try not to use it too much.

Serious Battery Charging Issues

From yesterday I have been seeing some major battery charging issues with my S3.
Battery drained in evening, came home and connected it to charger for 3 hours and saw battery was just 8%. I removed the battery and put it back and left it for whole night charging. Woke up and saw (after 8+ hours) 22% charged.
Now that's a serious issue. What else can be done now? Is my adapter not working? or that mini dock? or something else?
Samsung disappointed.
Try reboot. Could be a rogue app constantly pushing your CPU. If it does not charge faster, try shut the phone off at a percentage you know, charge a hour and boot it up. Should have charged at least 40% in that time.

When the battery drained. The phone was switched off. Charged for 3 hours and it was just 8%. And yes, I rebooted my phone twice. and removed the battery too.

Try wiping battery stats in cwm?
or
use a different cable/plug
There are quite a few faulty wall chargers around. Mine was totally dead others work only sometimes... Maybe try charging @pc or with a different adapter.
Due to the software update via Kies, Root access and CWM was lost. Will use a different adapter...
Now it's being charged via my laptop (very slow though) but adapter was not doing anything except just showing the red LED light. :/
I think I have to change the adapter.
It's the adapter which is not working. Charged from Galaxy S2's charger. Have to get it replaced from samsung service center.

[Q] Charging issue

Hi
I've got issues with charging the S3. Hae noticed recently that it may be the charger itself.
Problem is it is charging at a very slow rate, like today, it's been plugged in for close to 12 hours and it's still not fully charged yet.
This is AC charge not via usb. Have used a different charger and it would fully charge in 2 hours flat.
How would I bring this up with warranty in place as it still works so to speak.

Try to charge-discharge cycles. Maybe it's help you

[Help] slow battery recharging time, now it's around 1% per 10-15 minutes!

I have the SGS I9300 with omega V48.1 installed.
around a month or two ago, the recharging time got longer, but nothing that bothered me much. it slowly starting getting longer and longer, until this morning it get charged only by 1% every 10-15 minutes!
I have the original battery + charger. tried removing the battery, reconnect the usb cable from charger, change to another electric wall jack or what every their name is in English. nothing helped.
what do you think the problem is, the battery or the charger?
Multiple posts on this subject, a quick search would have found you the most likely answers to be your custom Rom, charger, lead or motherboard.

Change the charger's cable and it will be ok again
Yup its due to crappy cables of sammy or use custom kernel to increase input charge to charge faster
I'm creeping death !
if all the suggestion above still didnt solve ur problem then try clean or replace the charging port.
thank you. was planning to buy a new charger anyway, will see if it helps.

Just a thought- Check if you have mistakenly deactivated the Power Saving mode in the notifications.
It happened to me, mistakenly, instead of deactivating Mobile data, I deactivated the power saving mode, and was freaking that why its charging only 1-2% every 15-20 mins.
May be a silly suggestion but can verify.

S3 Not Charging (no matter what I do!)

Hey all.
I've seen a few posts with this topic but none seem to completely match the symptoms I've been having;
I've got a samsung S3 i9300, stock ROM and unrooted with a serious charging issue. Seems no matter what I do the phone won't charge. I've tried:
Mains Charging
USB Charging (through PC)
Wireless Charging
Changed three different batteries
Used the galaxy charging app to make sure it's getting the 999 it needs on mains
Begged the Gods to charge it.
On everything it will state the phone is charging but never go above 3 or 4% regardless if it's on or off.
I've watched the battery graph nosedive whilst it's off charging, putting it on charge only flattens it a bit.
I'm just curious as to how I go about fixing this; is this some sort of software glitch? Have I been cursed? Do I need to perform some sort of battery exorcism?!
My thanks for any and all replies.
sounds more like a hardware issue ,have you tried with other battery(new ones) ,how old is your phone ?
Try factory reset, followed by stock firmware flash with Odin if that doesn't help.
If still the same then probably hardware, charging circuit failed. A work around would be two batteries and external charging cradle.
I've tried a factory reset. It seemed happy to charge on mains again but got up to only 45%, and levelled off; it refused to charge more (I left it for an hour) It then started dropping rapidly, going from 45 to 41 in less then two minutes.
I've noticed another oddity; even though I've turned WiFi off, the battery screen reports it as constantly on.

Never charge a phone with a laptop, it uses a process called trickle charging which can cause damage to your battery!

Thx for tip.
btw. I dont use magnetic charger, tried all combinations with cables/chargers/calibrations/hard wipes. Battery is now charging to 64%, but when playing in games, etc. its discharging long time, like it was going down from 100%....

I have the same issue with my phone, it charges to only 83-90%, so strange!
I think our issue has something to do with the new soft charging
I had same problem + headphones broblem, I reinstalled the smartconnect and it gone
Okey guys, new thread update:
I have got new Xperia Z2, previous had some hardware touch screen problems.. and what? Same problem on new device. This problem occurs while upgrading android from 4.4 to 6.0.1 by installing updates one by one without any pause/reboot. Firstly it was around 80% max, last time 68%.. now I have solution. (Because of post above this one, I have uninstalled Smart Connect for tests). I have discharged battery to 0% and plugged in wall charger. It started to on/off/on/off after some time and I turned on screen to see % of charging.. it was 68%. I though I can keep screen up for sometime and check if it will pass 68% (because with turned on screen it drains enegry so it can't charge to "max").. and this passed... I dont know why its working, but it is. Started to blink again at 73%, 80%, 86%, 90% for sometime and now its 95%.... Just need to have turned on screen so it can't charge to its "max" After it reach 1% above limit, then turn off screen. Its definitely software bug. I still dont know how it will behave after discharging again.. Will post update. (btw. its cold like ice. xD)

I tried Motorola X Play charger and Blackberry one and they works without any problem but with the original charger and the M5 one got the on/off problem.
I've contacted Sony and send them a logcat and they said that I should send it them but I didn't, because I don't have second phone
I am having this problem recently too. My battery often charge at a very low current ( 10mA ~ 700mA ) and today it even discharge itself when plugged in!! I tried both USB charger and magnetic charging cable but still it turns out the same. I have criticized this problem on SuperSU v2.78 SR1, Google Play Service v9.8.75 and restoring them to the previous versions but still nothing changed. What I did later is I wiped all partitions ( except external_sd ) and installed AOSPA ( previously I was on eXistenZ v5.6.5 ) and after it boots it finally return a 1A current to me. However, this only happens occasionally which it will possibly corrupted like a couple of days ago. Still need to figure out what the he** is wrong with this thing. Frankly speaking, I nearly wanted to rush out to the 24/7 service centre in Hong Kong at 2am lol.

lol this happened to me too about 3 days ago.
I used the phone as always do and wanted to charge it normally with a usb cable but then i got this
CHARGING
on off on off on off
the off took 1-5 seconds and the charging led, tone and animation only appeared for a second and then went off.
it wasnt the charger, nor the cable. it was the micro usb port, no idea why because I didn`t drop it etc
a micro usb port replacement part costs only 15 bucks but unfortunately I don`t have the equipment and knowledge for repairing electrinical parts
so I had to fu**ing replace the whole motherboard which is very expensive even if you do it yourself!!! now it works ut I will never repair my z2 again. I bought it for 400$ and since buying it I spent 300$ on repairing it. if you wouldn`t have done that myself I would had spent 700$ usd for repairing it at our local phone shop.
Just cleared Smart connect app data and charged it with the default charger (14% to 100%) it charged without any problem

Yes, I think so, too... I have this issue but it happens over night and the led charge indicator blinks... I've disabled "Battery Care", that is included in some .291 roms
