[Q]Pie Controls on CM? - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

I know that there are ROMs for this phone that have the feature. But why doesn't the official CM have it? I know it is disabled on some ROMs when the software keys are disabled, but when you enable them, the settings for PIE controls should appear. But in the official ROM, they don't when you enable them by adding "qemu.hw.mainkeys" with the value of zero (0). The Avatar ROM does, but why not official CM? anyone willing to do the mod?

You can try this, it works on a lot of devices.

[APP] LMT Launcher v1.99 for GNex/Nexus4/Nexus7/GSIII/HD2 and more... (ROOT)

this will work on any CM10.1 rom or based rom for the Inc 4g LTE
ok so here's why pie isnt showing up on our phones. we have captive buttons so they turned the pic control off by default. to get it back you'll need to do some things:
first
you will need to edit your build.prop and add this line
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
second
you will need to turn on "expanded desktop" you can do this by going to settings > system > expanded desktop
once you have that reboot the phone.
then go back into settings > system and at the bottom you will see pie options and nav bar options.
let me know if you need any more help

Since the PIE controls currently duplicate our always available capacitive keys, I'm not sure I see the use. Perhaps if more options than home, back, recent/menu become available it will be worth enabling.

its good to use if the captive buttons don't work anymore. during the rezound days mine stopped responding and i had to use the pie controls. later found out that was the start to the end of my touch screen but it was great when you have no other options.

On the Official nightly, i cant seem to get it to come up. And, yeah, my home button currently doesn't work. That is why I ask. I have to use the back button.
--
Edit: here is what we have on OFFICIAL CM. Do I have to switch to something like Avatar? I know it has it when you enable the NavBar. It doesn't show anything about PIE controls. Only about the NavBar and quick shortcuts that go with the NavBar.

Cyanogen feature. Touch panel?

Does cyanogen have a touch panel feature in one of its builds to add like a menu, back, home button on the status bar?
If so, how would i add that to another build?

Yes, but it's on its own status bar at the bottom of the screen (for tablets).
CM7 has it in the pull down status bar also.
It's call the Notifiction power widget.
It's under CM settings> Interface

Of course it could be, you just enable it in cyanogen, but since my phone has those keys, I don't really need it personally.
If you mean porting to something not running cyanogen, that would require taking it out of the cyanogen source and adding it to whatever you are using.
Im creating this firmware for an outdated phone because people are having problems with hard buttons so i figured a feature like this would help
Alrighty il take a look

Ah, that makes sense why you wanted it now. The only problem I can think of is the latest cyanogen uses 2.3.5 android os, so if you are porting it to something else not at least using gingerbread, it could be problematic with some of the libraries/dependencies and require massive backporting.
0uch, alright so I would have to rebuild everything to gain a feature like that?
Mmm yeah I think I'll stick to button savior...

Hey, hey, hey

Just switched over from Samsung Fascinate (hey nitsuj17). 4g is super fast I'm loving this phone, got all the vzw bloat disabled. Can't wait for s-off, root and all that good stuff.
I have one question though. Why is there no notification quick-settings, wasn't that added in 4.1?

Added by nit... Settings in the upper right hand corner is similar.
I thought the one x and other HTC phones had the quick setttings tab on stock.

I thought I was gonna hurl the thing out a window when I first got it. Now I use the recent apps button all the time. I sure miss having them rotate though
And I agree, I miss the search button.
Long press on the home button for recent apps is more efficient use of the buttons. Then the recent apps button could be search.

Unless I am mistaken, this is how the "3-button mod" works. It will be another benefit of the pending root.

quick setting and htc on sense4/4.1/4/5/4+ has been an oddity for sure across the one series and other phones
on random ota/roms they enable it, others they disable it, others they completely remove the code
many sense4.1 ota's enabled a toggle in settings that allowed for switching of "recent" apps to menu...ours didnt for some reason
once you are rooted, custom roms fix this issue...and viperRom allows you to completely remap the long presses of all 3 buttons, and select what you want the menu to be
cant wait for root then

[Q] How do you re-assign the hardware buttons?

I've been using the SuperNexus ROM for the i9300, however one of the things I miss from CM10 is the ability to reassign the buttons of the device (the Home, Menu and Back buttons).
Is there a tweak that exists which will allow me to do this? I want the Menu button to open the Multitasking screen, and the Home and Back to remain where they are.
Cheers

Very new to Android, so is there anything anybody knows about that I can flash onto the phone that could add this feature other than changing ROM's or using software keys?

This can be acheived by using something such as Jkay deluxe framework.
I think you'd need to buy the deluxe settings app off the market too. Well worth it in my opinion.

The three middle menu buttons

hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of an app that can move the 3 menu buttons from the bottom middle to either left or right side so i can get to it with my thumb?
Thanks

CyanogenMod allows you to move one on each side. I have my back button and recent button on the left and right side, respectively. It's not an app, but that's the only way to have that without using an app like button saver or virtual button bar (don't move originals but can place buttons anywhere pretty much).

I think its pretty great. The nightly updates and constantly added features is what keeps me going.
I use this version of AOSP:

Just make sure to flash "leftnavbar.full_manta-ota-eng.cgomez.20122012.zip" to move the navbar over (link in the OP).
Use Paranoid Android and in Tablet UI you can have all three on the bottom left. Otherwise you can use the expanded desktop with PIE and have them come or of anywhere you like.

Fantastic ROM! Finally expanded desktop is like it was meant to be.

Paranoid Android is probably the best for Nexus 10 and 7... Check that out
I'll back these guys up. Been running Paranoid Android in my Nexus 10 for ages and it's brilliant. I have the buttons on the bottom left and my notifications on the bottom right. I noticed there are some other ROMs starting to introduce these features such as CM and aokp but I'd definitely recommend looking at Paranoid Android.
I'm running CM10.1 with lmt launcher and fullscreen togglev2. It's just nearly perfekt
Need no nasty navbar anymore. More Display for me

Do you mean how do you turn on extended desktop so that you can use the pie menu? Press your power button until the menu comes up and select extended desktop.

Unfortunately, in this scenario, you can't have your cake and eat it too. There isn't a setting, to my knowledge, that allows using both PIE and the nav/stat bars at the same time. Maybe in an upcoming update? Expanded desktop works great for me, I don't even remember what the stat bar looks like.

CM 11 official immersive mode is working! :)

You just need to enable expanded desktop with status bar hidden under settings -> interface. Them you hold power button and activate expanded desktop and you get KitKat immersive mode. I don't know why it has not been renamed to immersive mode, but it works great!

On my defence, cm still call it expanded desktop, i didn't know about expanded desktop, so I disabled it.
It is only recently that nav bar begining to disturb me, so i look for solution, and when I search about immersive on cm11, your thread appear first.

Yea because I always thought expanded desktop meant hiding the status and nav bars.

anyway, not a big deal anymore now that I use pie controls for navigation and hide the nav bar.
