Need help ASAP. 'Battery&Charging issue!' - HTC One X+

Hello.
First, I would like to intodruce my self.
My name is James, and I live in The Netherlands.
I have been using my one X+ now for a while and I am pretty statisfied.
However the phone is starting to shows some failures.
During charging, either the phone or charger, gets very hot but doesn't charge.
I have tried couple of chargers, as well as the charger for the Lumia 920.
But that one doesn't seem to work anymore as the charger itself is getting very hot, but doesn't charge the phone. Not even giving the symbol that it is trying to charge.
This was my last resource, so I really need some help!
Please help.
The phone is completely stock.
Running on android 4.1.1.
Kernel 3.1.10***<lot of extra that I don't think is important.
Smallband 3.1204.168A.32
Build number 1.17.401.3***
Thanks!

Thanks for reply.
The battery charges again!
The charge test did the job I guess.
The charger is still getting hot though.
I hope this solved my problem, at least for now.
Thank you!

Where you are using the phone what the root temperature ? is it too hot ? I had a similar condition when I was at a hot place for 2 days , moved back to my city and all ok now as weather here is pleasant

Well thanks again!
~For the record,
I live in The Netherlands and the climate here is not seen as warm, it is summer and there still is a chance of rain and temperatures are below 20℃.
Haha, that was not the problem.
Thanks for thinking with me though!

[Q]Amaze bricked?

Alright guys first of all f**k. OK so last night I left my phone off charge and when I woke up this morning it just wouldn't turn on and when I would plug it into the charger the orange led would be solid then flash then off. So honestly I think its the battery but I'm wondering your thoughts
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
This happened to me before. Some say that you need a newer recovery, some of the older custom recoveries won't charge on a zero charge battery.
But here's how you fix it; find a friend with the same battery (you know, with an amaze or a sensation) and put your battery in their phone for a little while to charge. Once you can get your phone booted you'll be fine.

C'mon sportstar. Throw a new battery in there and call it a day. Lol

As much as you flash and develop I figured you'd have more external chargers and batteries than I do!(2 external chargers and 7 batteries!)
But yea, I'll bet you it is just the battery even if you have the right recovery.. so many little things can go wrong with the batteries, look at the little plastic tabs in between the contacts on the battery(look at pic below), if they start to bend you have to break them off - they can make the phone think the battery is overheating until you break off the plastic, and it won't charge..

HTC AMAZE Keeps shutting down

Every day my HTC AMAZE 4g keeps shutting down multiple times a day, is there a fix or should I request another one from T-Mobile?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
I'm having the same issue. 4-5 times a day it'll just shut down and then take it's sweet time rebooting. Im rooted running stock 2.3.4 trying to upgrade to ICS which kind of tumbles into another issue. I'm trying to do the update to ICS via the OTA update and when it powers down it just boots into the Bootloader screen. My status for my bootloader shows <RELOCKED> followed by <SECURITY WARNING>.
If anyone could shed a little insight that'd be aces.
The random reboot issue seems to be battery related from what others have stated.

I can confirm this. I called t-mo and they basically told me that I'm SOL on a battery replacement. So, I got the Anker 2 pack on Amazon for 30 bucks, and I haven't had a reboot since.
Had the same issue. Called HTC tech support bypassing T-Mobile since I use a different carrier. HTC sent me a replacement battery.

I guess I should call HTC as well. I thought about calling them, but the Anker has a big better so I didn't mind plopping down 30 for 2 batteries.

you have a faulty battery.
this sounds like a recall-type of deal here. i'm having the same issues with my oem battery. called htc the other day, and they wanted my cc info to replace the battery. i'd still have to pay for shipping the old one back to them. will try calling again, and see if i can get one for free lol

same thing with mine. went through 2 amaze 4g's and 5 batteries in 2 months. I end up buying a new battery once every 2 weeks.
One thing i know that WILL kill my battery is if i plug it into the outlet on an amtrak train. Every time i exit the train, its dead. Learned that the hard way.
I also keep the rubber case that came with it off. It happens less and less that way. I think it's overheating, since it was very hot out each time.
Hello guys,
I've also about the same problem, My Amaze is Asian version with JuopunutBear S-OFF and ICS Speed Rom installed.
The problem with my phone is that while its charging or in use, it doesn't shut down, but when idle for some time with no music application running in background, it shut down.
then it doesn't turn on unless you pull the battery for a while and re insert it,
Can anyone plz tell me what's the issue, is it battery or some culprit application?
Thanks
I had the same issue on my phone. It was due to the kernel issue .I flashed super wipe once & flashed backup again . Now my battery is ok & I found no rendom shutdowns anymore . try this if it helps you.
Using stock rom 4.0.3 s-off Rooted.
HTC Amaze 4G.

which kernal you're using now??
I used to had the same issue. Tried updating Android using stock, changing the ROM to a custom one (CM, Energizer, etc.), changing the kernel. nothing seemed to help. In the meantime, I bought a battery from eBay. Took about 3,5 to 4 months to arrive (yeah, **** me, I'm from Argentina). I put it on and VOILÀ. Holy solution.
It is an Anker one, so it has more capacity also
I m using faux kernel v. 31

Turn on the device but let charge for another hour. This seems to have worked for me.

Battery Life Nose Dives Once It Drops Below 15%

As per the topic, anyone have the same experience? Tips? Is it time to go back to O2 and say "Get this fixed suckas!"
What's your thoughts? All I was doing when it nose dived was checking my settings and scrolling through home screens. Been having this problem for a few weeks that I've noticed.
Thanks in advance.
That happens to me too and also once it was on 30% I used my phone and then it quickly went to 5% and then 0%. Some weird stuff right there.

Yeah, think I might get in touch with O2...because this can't be normal behaviour.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
For some reason I never thought of it as an issue. I felt like all smartphones acted that way when their percentage got low.
Never had it on my One X or my Desire HD. Whilst I realise battery life will lower quicker as the battery level drops losing the last ~15% in less than 10 minutes when I'm not taxing it is pretty ridiculous, IMO

Actualy ill do a charge to see wheres its at now, report back later. You know, I think the heat the phone gives out on charge destroys the battery, not very well thought out at all, they could of improved the heat spread, I bet the htc ones don't have heat issues, after all there all metal.

I have the Nokia one and it works like a dream. I never use the usb charger anymore.
I actually have both the LG charging pad from Verizon and a Nokia charging pad (Not the fatboy, but the pad alone) and from what I can tell the Nokia pad is far superior. The entire pad is a charger (It is smaller than the phone) so there is no guess work getting it to charge, it also doesn't make that awful *BEEEEEP* every time you try to place the phone on the pad, it only has a single notification light to indicate charging which i prefer, most importantly it seems to charge much faster than the LG charging pad. The LG pad overtime seems to have gotten more choosy about where i place the phone, and does not charge the phone nearly as quickly as it originally did. (Which was never as fast as the Nokia pad mind you.)
Though in regards to the 2% thing that has not ever happened to me. Mine charges almost as well as a regular charger (at least on the nokia pad), I would also guess your friends charger is bad, or your phone is doing something that is using more power than is being put back into it, or there is something wrong with the phone itself. I'd give it another go and see if it was just a fluke. Too bad you don't have another pad to test with to narrow down the issue you're having.
Good Luck though in any case!
Mine is the qzens.
Just had read that people had their DNA stop wirelessly changing when they had the Nokia one. Probably coincidence cause that's what Verizon sells. I got mine used from someone that sold their DNA
