WatchOn - Setting up Activities - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there a way to setup Activities beyond adding devices I don't own?
I'd really like to add "PS3", "Xbox", "Sonos" so I can switch to the correct receiver inputs. I can get the regular TV to work but that's it.

I'm not aware of a way of doing this in the WatchOn app but theres an app in the Play Store that seems to be a more in depth option. I tried messing with WatchOn for a bit but realized it wasn't going to do everything I wanted to. I decided to check this app out. I'm still sort of messing around with it. It does macro functions but I will admit the setup for them is not the easiest thing in the world coming from using a Logitech Harmony remote.
Wont let me post links cause im new but search for "smart remote for galaxy s4" in the Play Store. The developer is Color Tiger.
Just thought I would give you a heads up.

Saw that, thanks for the heads up. WatchOn is pretty good with the noteable exception that I can't setup "activities" for my other items and you can't relabel anything.
For example, when I switch from TV to the Xbox, the receiver needs to go to the GAME input. however, on Watchon, it doesn't show a GAME input on my receiver. Just INPUT 1, INPUT 2, INPUT 3 .... INPUT 20.
So you'd need to eithe rremember what input # corresponds to GAME (and I'd have to do th esame for my Sonos (TV / CD input) and PS3 (BD / DVD input)

[Q] Mapping Touchscreen to Physical Keys?

Alright this is going to be a doozy of a post for my first one on XDA. While playing this game today called Exitium, I got a crazy idea in my head. "What if there was a way to take games with virtual controllers (D-Pad and buttons) and map them to physical keys?" Either on a built-in keyboard like the Droid 4, or the Xperia Play's keys, or even mapping them to a third party device such as a bluetooth keyboard or Wiimote/PS3 controller.
Obviously the easiest solution here is to contact the developer and request hardware button support within the game you are wanting to play. But...
I have looked everywhere and have not found an outside application that attempts to do this. So after a long talk with a friend of mine, we came up with some rough draft ideas of how this could be done. Unfortunately neither of us have a lick of sense when it comes to actual programming and the idea of creating this from the ground up seems impossible at our level.
So what I was wondering, is if there already is an app out there that can take a point on the touchscreen, and assign it to a keypress on a physical device? And if not, are there any developers out there willing to give this a stab (and I'd obviously give as much input as I possibly could), or someone willing to help me try to understand where I'd even begin to make something like this?
I know this probably sounds like a mess but I promise I tried to make it as simple and coherent as I possibly could. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Hoping!! BEGGING!!!!
I would love to see this - like a more universal version of sixaxis mapper. it could work with keyboards or any game controller or mouse. even really useful for phones that have physical keyboards attached! Hope one of these pops up. I couldn't find any so far ...
I often use keyboard with my N7 and i have thought about this many times, it would be very useful for playing games... I'm sure that many ppl had the same idea.
I don't know about any apps that can do this, but it already exists as a built in feature in a kind of a console tablet hybrid called "archos gamepad", so hopefully some apps like this could soon come to google play...
To all developers: please make it, i would have no problem paying $5 for such an app.

home automation video lets crack this

Ok everybody look at this video and I think we should all decipher this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjTj0ymhbBw&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This guy of course WILL NOT explain step by step to get it to work the way he did.
Maybe we all can give each other pointers?
We know he's using tasker and auto voice perhaps we all can help figure this out step by step ?
That's a nice impressive setup....
Lets figure out how to do this.
Wow no one is interested eh? Lol
You first need a decent familiarity with Tasker, and then:
- a Z-wave/Zigbee controller, such as the Vera Lite
- a few Z-wave switches
- AutoVoice plugin for Tasker to parse your input and connect them to tasks/shortcuts that toggle the switches.
That's the easy part. He has XMBC on his home theater system and uses Yatse to access that. Read more about how he got this working from the Reddit he posted it on as well as at Pocketables http://goo.gl/AdmEG.
I'm waiting on the Almond+ router before I jump into this since most home automation controllers are $$$.

I was playing with tasker yesterday can u confirm tasker work with HTC one?
Somehow the app kept saying it doesn't have the profile when it does?
This gentleman that posted this is probably not new to the AV scene and programming aspects either. I'm sure there's "more than meets the eye" than what is being shown; he probably spent a lot of time researching before getting the Eureka moment of tying it all together. Kudos to this and other DIY'ers.
I'm sure if we make effort we can figure it out.. AV guys unite!

What I don't get from what I've read is for Z-Wave you need a controller (e.g. Vera Lite) and then you can tie all the devices together, but I don't see anything similar for ZigBee, hows do you get ZigBee devices to talk to each other? I know some stuff will be achievable through tasker but with Vera Lite (or other Z-Wave controllers) you can do everything through the Controller interface.

Voice Controlled TV Remote using Tasker/Utter!

I recently posted a question in Q&A about any TV remote apps that can be voice controlled. No luck. I stumbled upon this tasker plugin by Ozkaya that is awesome. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45572797. It allows you to program your IR remote with Pronto hex codes(many found here http://www.remotecentral.com/ as posted in the Dev's thread).
I combo'd this with Utter! and like magic, I was able to program voice controllable macro's, functions, anything really as long as the hex codes were available. And there is alot of them. I have Verizon Fios and the motorola codes worked for my box even though they weren't the same model. To me, this is an awesome show off tool (and slightly practical if I am eating chicken wings and need to switch between football games!). I literally say "phone" to wake up utter and "channel back" or "ESPN". as a command.
I did nothing here but stumble upon a combo of apps that work great together. If you like the idea please check out the thread and thank the Dev's and support their work. I feel this is one of those gems that slipped back a few pages and got lost. Hope you like it too.

I used it on Alpha and Gravitron. I don't believe there would be any limitations on any Rom as long as Tasker and Utter! are installed. The rest is just setting up the codes and then setting Utter to use the Tasker plugins.
If someone really wants to get tweaky, here is another plugin for Tasker that will initiate the voice recognition in Utter! when the phone is on charge and the stop it when is taken off charge. Its towards the bottom of the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34339449.

Universal IR Remote control app

I was use Samsung WatchON TV (universal IR Remote app)
before with my N9005.
It was very easy to use I can add more TV by adding a new Room.
When I try to do the same with Peel Smart Remote App that built-in in my P601.
I can't find how to add more room?
(If I try to add more device there will show only another device but I can't add more TV)
I try to googling around ... reading FAQ , Help , Instruction in Peel & Google website.
No more information about this.
I try to install Samsung WatchOn TV app to my P601 but It say "Your device is not support!!!
If you suggest me another free universal IR remote app it would be great.

Simply click on the TV icon (the 3 boxes) to add a new room (which means another tv). So, also on the device list, don't add here a device but a room.
PS. If it was this point then you know why I didn't like this app - it is very cryptical and many functions are hidden somewhere.
PPS. I self have also a question: Can I see somewhere the whole tv-gids? I mean, I didn't want to see selected programs (which is nice done) but what program, at what time in which channel... a whole overview.

You can contact the creators of the app and ask them. They are very responsive. They also add new devices all the time, and at the request of users.
Smart IR Remote - AnyMote
Yes, I too use the "Smart IR Remote - AnyMote"...The developers are very responsive and supportive...
I just now finished the Remote Settings for my 'Dell XPS M1530 Laptop - Remote"

Second, third, forth, etc.... this recommendation for Smart Remote - by far the best I've tried (I've tried / checked out, I think, all of the compatible ones... that was a while ago though so they may have improved, but so has Smart Remote )
I use ir blaster 2.0 on my devices and never had any issues

Amazon's Alexa on Android Wear

Introduction
I've been working on a project to incorporate Amazon's Alexa into an Android application as a standalone. It started as an Android TV project, and then got ported over to Android mobile. This weekend I finally got the project to work on Android Wear, so now you can speak to (and listen, if you have speakers or connected Bluetooth speakers) Alexa from your wrist. Because I only have access to an LG G Watch, for the moment, I would love to hear any feedback you all have on issues you find or how you think the project can be made better. The more Wear hardware that it's tested with, the better.
Download
You can get the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.willblaschko.android.alexalistens or download the APK from the Android TV link above.
More Details
If you want to read a little more about the code behind the implementation, I've done a write up for the TV/phone app here and will be putting together a piece on the Wear app.
Thanks!
Do I need to have an Alexa unit in order for this to work?
Great app, thanks. Ran into a persistent crash issue quickly though. If I uncheck the "Android Wear Preferences"->"Play on mobile" option and try anything from my Huawei watch it shows a message on the phone saying that Alexa Listens has crashed and it does not work. If I leave the option checked it works fine especially where I can hear the voice response on my phone, it was pointless to hear the response from the mobile also which is why I wanted to disable it.
is there a link for a version of this that will install on KitKat? this app looks exciting and I tried downloading earlier apk versions of this app but just get the "error parsing package" pop-up ... really want to try it out but upgrading from android 4.4 on my note 3 probably isn't gonna happen ... this looks awesome thanks
still really excited to try this. i have a Huawei Watch and my phone is Samsung galaxy note 3 on android 4.4 ... my note 3 hasn't exploded yet so I can't risk an upgrade to a newer android version but still really want to try your app!
Wow, this is great. Good work!
oh man this looks like something I really really want ... does anyone know how to alter the apk so I can install this on a Samsung note 3 with android 4.4.2? (modifying build.prop didn't work)
Enjoying the possibilities with this app. I have it on a oneplus 3 with a Huawei Watch. When it works it is great, but quite often from the watch it will not respond. I can then go into settings on the phone app and deactivate the always on listener then reactivate it. After that it works from my watch again for a while... until it doesn't and I have to do the deactivate/reactivate all over again. Any ideas?
works perfect for me, Voice response and all. But i was wondering could u add the option for the mic to auto listen on launch? as oppose to having to click the mic when u want to talk to it, would make it easier to use without all those screen taps
---------- Post added at 08:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ----------
also this app literaly breathes NEW LIFE into my huawei watch, this feature alone single handly makes my android watch a must have, " Turn off lights " on the wrist and " request a uber" a is exactly what the google claimed the android watch would be bale to do, but until this app was unable to do
Works well, thanks for this. I did remove it but for some reason it still shows up on the watch even though it is not on the phone. Any idea why?
Hi will,
thanks for the great app, I really love it! I just picked up an Asus Zenwatch 3 and this is a Must-Have
As I'm using it quite often now, I tought I should share my experiences.
The ZW3 comes with two mappable buttons, I put Alexa Listens on one of those, that's really convenient. I'd love if Alexa would listen automatically after starting the App, I think this would be a nicer UX.
Alexa Speech Output has some minor flaws. I did some German Skills, which I used for testing. One replies with SSML - audio and speech afterwards (e.g. on Echo Dot), Alexa Listens only plays the audio (but this could be a flaw in my Skill too).
When Alexa isn't understanding my input, there's no real feedback, it just remains silent (or maybe I'm missing something). Echo Dot usually replies with "I didn't understand that" or similar, that's nicer.
@will.blaschko You aren't open sourcing this, are you? Personally, I'm a huge fan of TuneIn on all devices - I'd love to write the player support for the app, just to get it
Thanks again for the great app!
Working on a new version now, so hopefully that'll be available soon --including support for UK/DE.
If you want to look at the source that powers most of the app: https://github.com/willblaschko/AlexaAndroid
New version is in the Play Store, I can post here as well if you want .

Hello!
(Please Forgive my not so good English!),
I use this awesome Skill/App now for a couple of weeks, and it is exactly what I'm looking for, but I have a little Problem!? - I have a Sony-Smartwatch-3, and after Using the App on it, the App starts/reopens itself again and again!? - I must everytime make a Reboot on the Smartwatch to solve this!
Please take a look at it!
Thanks!

Listener Sensitivity!
Hello!
The App is Awesome, but far to Sensitive!? I have Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S (LTE) with Stock-Android-6.0.1 rooted, and the App reacts all few Seconds!? When I set "Not Sensitive" in the Sensitivity-Options, I can Yell, but the App don't reacts at all, and when I set "Normal", it reacts all the time all few Seconds!? Can You Please add a Possibility to set the voice-sensitivity in percent!? Or a Option between "Not Sensitive" and "Normal"!? I really want to use this App every Day, and I will Donate to, but how it is now, a cannot use it, because it reacts not at all, or every few seconds!?
Thanks!
Problem installing app
Hi I tried to install this app on my Zenwatch 3, however, if I go to the app-store, it says the app is not compatible. What am I doing wrong?
