[Q] Best 32gig or 64gig microsd card to get? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Do you guys recommend a highspeed microSD card to use for gaming? I heard i could use a app called foldermount to move games to the external sdcard. Thanks in advance. =)

I don't see how a faster SD card would affect gaming on your phone. I personally picked up a Samsung 64GB Pro microSDXC Extreme Speed (UHS-1) Class 10 Memory Card and have had no issues with it. I just felt like getting a Samsung card for a Samsung phone seemed like a smarter fit. My Razr Maxx had some SanDisk SD card that never had any issues, so I guess the most important factor would be reliability and cost.

I would recommend scandisk ultra or above series.

Thanks for the recommendation. People's reviews on your link sound impressive. Cant wait to order one now. I've had this phone for about two weeks and I already fill the internal sdcard. MC4 is huge.

So far my class 10 Amazon sd card is working great. I'm not sure who makes them from Amazon, but I got my 32 gig card for $22 from them.

I got the Samsung 64gig UHS1/Class 10 card too. Its been working great for the 4 days I've had it.

[Q] Micro SDHC 32GB

Did anyone tried Micro SDHC 32GB card with X10 after 2.1 Eclare Update?
I asked Sony Ericsson support about 32GB SD card support after 2.1 but they did not give me a satisfactory answer and according to them only 16GB SD card works on X10.

are you using the kingston 32gb class 4?
I bought (on my own risk) a micro SD HC-4 32 Gb Kingston one month ago (on 1.6 Donut) Now i have Eclair 2.1 on my Xperia X10 and the SD card 32 Gb works well.
I haven't any problems during this time.

the class reprezents the speed of your memory card
I bought a 32GB Kingston Class 4 and it keeps unmounting itself and overall lose contact with the phone but it works perfect in he PC.
I have done a 32GB filer verification so it's not a counterfeit 8GB in a 32GB disguise.
But I keep having trouble with it once it's in the phone.
It's a HTC Legend with BlaYo ROM
I have exactly the same micro SDHC (32 CB class4 Kingston) in a XPERIA X10 and it functions perfect. Try format with MiniToolPartitionWizard under Windows. Success!
I'm using a 16GB Class 10. Transferring songs are plainly drag and drop.
If you opt for speed over capacity, go for 16GB C10 instead. I'm using the Transcend one at 14MB/s writing speed. (priced at 33USD)
Well uh, why do you need 32GB for a phone?
what a question ))
why do you need 16GB?

Sorry for going offtopic, but I don't want to start a new thread, I was thinking of buying a Transcend 16gb class 10 card.

I'm using one Transcend 16gb class 10 card, i can tell some things:
On the usb adapter it can WRITE at up to 16~20MB on linear writing and READ up to 22~25MB on linear reading.
This cards rocks, i had a sandisk 8gb class 6 mSD and will never regret this change.
This time i can get real HD recordings as before i would sometimes give me some small breaks when recording if for some reason anything tried to access the card at the same time.
By the way most class 6 cards record actually between 4~6MB!

NC Freezes here and there

I have rooted my nc and its running android 2.3.7 on a sd card. There are times that it works great, but there are times when I click on an app it freezes and I have to do a hard reset. What could be the problem.

Gotta go with Sandisk as well.
Tried Transcend, PNY and Kingston cards of 4-16G capacities and c6-8 speeds and they're all handily beaten by my Sandisk cards so far as stability.

It is speed. Sandisk has the fastest random write speed which is what seems to cause those lock ups. SD card class is just measures one (relatively unimportant) indicator of SD card "speed" (sustained read).
Sustained read and write are great if you're using your card to backup large media or picture files but more or less worthless for running an operating system. Same principle is in place for SSD. Manufactures advertise sustained transfer rates but the important stat for a OS drive is access time (which determines the speed of random read/writes).
Here's a link to a 32gb sandisk for $30 http://slickdeals.net/da/mem-i/p46847290/k4569/u125110/r4
These work just as well as the 16gb ones.

32gb is theoretically the maximum, since 64gb cards will all be part of the new SDXD standard. Then again, several people have found that the 64gb SDXC cards work in their SDHC devices so we'll just have to wait until someone tests one in the nook color to know for sure if it'll support it (I wouldn't hold your breath, our hardware is fairly old).
I can certify that the 32gb works fine, as can numerous others who I've seen post.

[Q] MicroCD card slot Class rating?

Aren't speed classes for the microsd cards themselves and have nothing to do with the device loading them? Or are you asking up to what class will the s3 support?

Samsung MicroSDHC Plus Memory Card - 16GB, Class 10

You might want to go for the fastest class you can afford. This way, when you plug in the sd card in your computer you will be able to load it up quickly.
I really don't like waiting to finish a 30gb dump of data due to a slow sd card.

bcz i also have a class 6 32gb on my mini pro...
reading speed around 25mb/sec writing 10mb/sec
i noticed gallery loads up really fast.
I have 16gb Patriot class 10. Reading around 20mb/s, writing 10mb/s connected as MSC i regret not getting the 32gb.
i have sk17i, and it recognizes 32gb class10 samsung micro sd, i think both phones are nearly the same, so the wt19i should also support
I bought a new 32GB sd card, and after I fill it with data, the phone starts to lag I have rooted wt19i and the sd card is not broken. I dont know if this is possibly a rom issue

How many are using a 64 GB micro SD card?

I know that the HAM2 officially only supports 32 GB micro SD cards; however the PC Mag reviewer successfully used a 64 GB micro SD card and I believe at least 1 Amazon reviewer was using a 64 GB micro SD card. I ordered a class 4 SanDisk 32 GB when I placed my phone order on Amazon. (I, like many others, had bad luck trying to use a class 10 card with a tablet so I'm steering clear of using class 10 cards in anything other than cameras.) If any one on this forum is successfully using a 64 GB card, could you indicate the brand and class of the card. As the holidays approach and sales start, I may keep my eyes open if others are having luck using a 64 GB card on a daily basis. TIA,
I've been using a lexar 64gb class 10 from walmart, works in my Mate and Mate2.

Good to know. I was doing some searching and found that SanDisk has compatibility info out on the HAM2 indicating that it's compatible not just with it's 64 GB micro SD cards but with it's new 128 GB micro SD card.
http://pct1.sandisk.com/ProductList.aspx?DeviceID=21274
There's a member on another forum testing the SanDisk 128 GB card in his Galaxy S5, since so many people have had data losses with high capacity cards. He loaded his new 128 GB card til it was almost full is and working it hard to see if it gets corrupted. I will probably keep reading his updates. The 128 GB card is expensive, but Amazon had it on sale for almost 50 per cent off.

Ive has bad luck with cheap cards corrupting data on me. I've learnt you get what you pay for. I got it from Walmart, if it didn't work or got corrupted I could always return it.
Honestly, although device manufacturers might recommend up to a 32GB MicroSD card, if the device is running Android 4.2 or higher it should support 64GB and beyond with no issues.
I'm using a Transcend Class 10 32GB card in my HAM2 at the moment, but I think I might get a 64GB or 128GB card. Although I love Google Music's online storage a lot, my T-Mobile signal isn't good enough when I'm out in the country to reliably stream music. Having a huge SD card to keep it all on is sooo nice.
And the fact that the build of Jelly Bean on the HAM2 allows apps and games to be moved to the SD card makes it even sweeter.....

Until we can root, stock jelly bean limits external SD storage to data, not the apps themselves. Once rooted, there are some options to move apps to external SD cards, but they can be problematic; however, many people use them.

Good to know. That makes me more inclined to consider getting a larger micro SD card during the upcoming holiday sales. I'm waiting for my phone to arrive and hope it get's here by Tuesday, as Amazon has promised.
