[REQ] remove increasing ringtone - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there a way to have it tying at full volume instead of staying quiet or am I just missing a stupid setting somewhere?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium

I've seen a lot of people talking about it and posting. I'm in the same boat missing calls. Someone needs to find a way to make it ring louder. This sucks.

There's an app called disable increasing ring in the playstore it's free and I can confirm that it's working. I'm on stock deodexed rom.

Yup i'm using disable increasing ringtone from the play store. Doesn't required root access either.

That app sits on the notification page for me and I can't get past it no matter what i do.

go to setting >> more >> application manager >> All >> Disable Increasing Ring >> Uncheck Show notifications

or long press notification go to app info then disable notifications

I'm bringing this back I'm afraid
For us rooted folk, has anyone figured out how to fix this without an app, or how to do what that app does manually perhaps?
I know that for the i9000 for those with deodexed roms there was a fix involving edits to the phone apk I believe.

WANAM
If you have root, wanam xposed has a feature for this as well. It also has a lot of stuff and can change a lot of touchwiz. My notification bar is totally themed out, and I changed a lot of other stuff, mostly under the hood. You need xposed though, and it is on the play store.

Now that sounds interesting. I have to use XPOSED for another issue. I'll have to check it out then. Thanks
Not only did it work, but it gave me a windows to a few other tweaks I had on the itinerary . Cheers! :highfive:

[Q] Prevent Screen-On due to SMS?

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the screen turning on when receiving an SMS? I would really like to disable this if at all possible.
not sure if it's what you're looking for but if you install sms popup (which is a fantastically simple app) it's one of the many options that you can configure ...
hope this helps ...
This didn't prevent the screen from turning on. The basic SMS app seems to still turn it on.

the way this normally works, is you install handcent which does have this option. then you go in and disable to stock messaging app completely, so that only handcent or your replacement choice controls text behavior.

What you'll notice is that even if you disable the notifications on a the standard messaging app, the app still runs in the background as it's also handling all the incoming DB writes from what I can tell. Samsung re-wrote the messaging app which always runs (and can't be removed) and in this app is the control to turn the screen on. That's why I can't figure out how to disable it without breaking SMS functionality altogether.

id be very interested in this. anyone up for the challenge? il definitely donate to this.
you require widgetsoid for this..
widgetsoid's notification direct multitouch toggle power widget does not work on the atrix. I tried it and also tried "notification toggle" too. Same thing, instead of toggling directly from the pull down, it opens up another box on the home screen that u have to select. Ive been trying to find an answer as to why it wont work and I keep getting that "your system might not support, "multiclick notification". I dont know. Anyone wiser have any insight?

Power Control Plus will add a customizable power control widget to your notification bar no mods needed.
Moved .
When your using notification widget when you drag your menu down are you able to have for example 4 toggles in one single row and each control them directly by clicking on each one? Whenever I do this and try clicking on a toggle it just opens up another box in the home screen and then I can toggle from there. It does not directly toggle from my one line of 4 toggles . This is the same issue with widgetsoid too. I have tried this stock and rooted and with all combinations of Ginger blur and gladattix. Still the same issue .

how to group apps and disable camera tone?

-Does anyone know how to group apps? I'm starting to have problems finding an app I need because the screen is already full and there many apps that I rarely use and I wanted to group this apps into a separate folder.
-Another thing I tried was disabling the camera tone but with no luck. Does anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks,

For grouping apps I'm using Nova Prime launcher and you can create different launcher tabs for what ever you like.
I believe the camera tone issue is legally motivated, in some places it is illegal to de-activate the camera sound I believe so I think this is why you can't turn it off from the settings, if you flash a custom ROM there is usually an option to turn it off (with a warning) but on stock ROMS usually not.
Hope that helps,
R.
Which launcher do u use?

If its touchwiz, there os an option to create a folder in the homescreen and drawer, just long click choose add to home screen and select folder, for the drawer clock on the menu button when in drawer mode, it will give u an option ro hidde aps amd also create folders...for the camera sound, root it...

I'm using touchwiz. I found out the option that you can create a folder in the homescreen but I was hoping to group the apps in the menu and not just hide them.
I also rooted my phone yesterday but I couldn't find anything to disable the camera tone. I guess l'm gonna have to install another launcher and see if sorts out.
Anyaway thanks,

I haven't (yet) rooted my phone, but I can take "shutter sound" away. You need to tick your volume rocker to minimize system sounds to silent. Then you can take pictures without shutter tone. Just remember put vol back up after.

Not sticking [ROOT REQ] Remove constant wifi nag

It has been brought to my attention this fix does not stick through reboot or wifi cycle. I will mess around with the editor some more however I fear without modifying the framework it may not be possible to completely be rid of it. Moderator can lock the thread please.
have discovered how to remove the constant notification that wifi is off. You must be rooted (thanks to the devs who made that happen) and have SQLite Editor installed.
It is available from the Google Play Store for 2.99. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zcGVlZHNvZnR3YXJlLnNxbGVkaXRvciJd
Open SQLite, allow root access and navigate down to "Settings storage". Click it then click "settings.db" then "secure". The last line (351 on my device) is entitled wifi_watchdog_on and the value is listed as 1. Click on this then click the pen in the upper center corner to edit the value. Change it to a 0 (zero) and click save. Back out of the app then pull down your notification shade. Long press on the *&#%$* wifi nag until "app info" is shown. Click it then select force close. It will give you the standard warning but don't worry about it.
After these steps are taken the nag will be gone! Hope it helps someone who is irritated like I was.
Thank you for this! Worked perfectly

This worked, but once I turned wifi back on it came back once I disconnected. Anyway to make it permanent?
Doesn't stick for me, the nag comes back and the setting goes back to 1 after a reboot...
is there a way to do this for the blocking mode nag as well?

coming back on for me as well.
Can this be done with the FREE SQLite Manager app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS54dWVjcy5zcWxpdGVtYW5hZ2VyIl0.
If you forcefully uninstall the WiFi nag app, will this prevent it from relaunching everytime you reboot or turn WiFi on?
The app info of the wifi nag said it was Android System

Well... When you long press on the wifi nag on your shade, then choose app info... it's a part of android system that you're stopping... don't know if uninstalling it is possible.
Hmm...I wonder if it's a part of the TouchWiz framework. Hopefully someone can make a hack for it which removes the Ongoing Notification, and also puts the WiFi toggle back in the Notifications Control Panel where it belongs.
You can put the WiFi icon and whatever else you want (I add a flashlight also) to the taskbar with the app "notification toggle" from the playstore.
I have used this temporarily on a few different phones while I was waiting on Custom ROMs to make their appearance.
It works perfectly.
This doesn't stick.

[Q] New to Android couple questions (battery/setting)

I finally got my HTC One today after calling T-mobile and ordering over the phone, loving this phone and glad I got rid of my iPhone 4. I am currently charging my One, first charge so far and I have a few questions just to make sure everything is good and perhaps making my life easier.
1. Easier way to force quit an app - I was on GSam Bat and had 93.5% apps using battery, I'm figuring that is too high, at least for me.
2. How to enable 4G/3G - Coming from iOS I saw a enable 3G button, making it easy to toggle it, I've only seen 4G on my notification bar too
3. An app that has a bunch of toggles for wifi/gps/data ect - Something as similar as SBSettings, being able to add on for what I prefer.
And if anyone has other tips for a FNG, I'd greatly appreciate it if you posted it.
hey welcome, for the third question I would recommend Power Toggles or Notification Toggles those are my two favorites. try them out on the play store or try searching for a notification widget.

Lacking functionality? Lets see...settings, mobile data on/off, wifi on/off, auto sync, roaming on/off, brightness control, GPS on/off, bluetooth on/off...the only thing missing is flashlight. Not what I would call "lacking functionality".
OP: to force close an app, double tap the home button to bring up all your open apps. Simply swipe the app you want to close, and it will.

I'm using power toggles from the Play store, because it allows one to have the toggles on the notification bar. The built in ones have to be on the desktop screen as widgets, which doesn't help when one is inside an app and needs to toggle something.
Yeah, I ended up getting Power Toggles, I like it more and it works great.
