[Q] Problem downgrading CWM recovery for Allwinner A10 Tab - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's hard to me to actually find a whole lot of information so I'll just like you to the Tablet that I purchased. I know it is an AllwinnerA10 Boxchip processor speed runs at 1.2 GHZ. So basically when I first got it it was running fine, I attempted to flash an updated rom which ended up failing, so I decided to install a new recovery System. I do not recall the original recovery system, but what happened is I installed the wrong recovery system. I have an a10 and I accidentally installed a A13 Recovery System "version 6.0.2.8." instead of an A10 Recovery System. Basically the Recovery Mode is only partially functional due to it being programmed for an A10. It will not let me install/flash an android image and the screen flashes, it will also not allow me to mount files from my internal SD card, I believe that it will allow me to install from a external micro-sd. However, it needs to be charged at the moment so my memory is a little hazy on whether it allows me to. So lets assume that it doesn't allow me to do that for now. How would I go about fixing this problem, and unbricking my Tablet. Since I haven't made enough posts I am unable to send you a direct link. I can however give you some keywords so that it pops up when you are looking for it. It is from LightintheBox.com, it should be the 4th url on a google search.

Can you clarify? I'm not sure what you mean. I don't find rooting instructions in a thread here.
Are you assuming the Trio Stealth Pro 7c and the Trio Stealth Pro 7 are the same thing, or do you know that they are?
Or do you mean it's already rooted out of the box, as the OP (a fellow newbie) reports here? (and what does that mean? That it even has a working Superuser.app and compatible su installed?
The manual (http://www.triomp3.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Droid-stealth-manual.pdf <sic; that's the link on the site, even though it's named "Droid-stealth-manual") for the Trio Stealth Pro 7 says that one can do this:
1) Tap the setting icon.
2) Tap About tablet.
3) Tap System update, follow the onscreen instructions.
4) Tap Install system update only if there is new version available and you have the update file saved to your SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30709653#post30709653 (newer posts especially) seems like a good place to start with custom ROMs.

No it's not!
Trio Stealth 7C is rooted
I've seen a number of posts questioning whether the trio stealth 7C is rooted or not. So I tried a couple of things on my new tablet.
Since receiving it, I have only put CWM recovery 6 on it, which AFAIK does not change anything about root access.
My conclusion is that my tablet is rooted.
1) Using "adb shell", type "su" and did not get an error
2) installed terminal emulator, and typed "su" and did not get an error and the prompt went to a "#" symbol
3) Installed Titanium Backup Root and did backups successfully.
For comparison, I tried the first item above on some other phone that is not rooted and got an error about no having permission.
I suppose its possible that I did something along the way to get it rooted, but it certainly was not on purpose!
Trio Stealth Lite
I bought the Trio Stealth Lite, the 4.3" mini tablet, for my 3 yr old daughter as a traveling tablet. It's a perfect size for her tiny hands to bring along everywhere. It's much more portable than her 10" Nabi 2, plus at just $50, I don't care if she drops and breaks or loses it.
I wanted to add that this tablet to my surprise did come per-rooted, straight out of the box! After charging it up, I wanted to see by any chance it was per-rooted, since another kids tablet she had, the Meep was also per-rooted. (Side note, the Meep is a horrible tablet, I don't recommend it, returned after 1 week. I won't go into details, it'd be it's own separate forum). So, I installed Aptoide onto it, then Titanium Backup, which will tell you right away after you install and open it, if you have root access and indeed it did, straight from the box. After that, I downloaded and installed SuperSU and Busy Box, with no problems, which adds to the fact it's fully rooted already. Then I downloaded Lucky Patcher, since it has an option to install the normal Google Play Store or the modded version of it, since this tablet only came with the Amazon Store for apps/games. The Play Store works great on it, haven't came across an app/game that can't be installed onto it yet.
The best thing I did probably was after installing Root Explorer, I changed the "void fastb" file to swap the internal/external SD cards, which had only 1.7GB originally for apps/games, to now with the externalSD, as the internalSD with 29.7GB (32GB microSD), for apps/games! At first using a class 4 sdcard I had laying around, it'd have glitches sometimes not recognizing the externalSD after rebooting, but then I popped in a class 10 sdcard, the Sandisk Ultra SDXC (red/gray color card), and have had no problems ever since and still has 23GB+ for more apps/games! I also tweaked a few things to make it faster and longer battery life, which helped a lot. Its definitely the best $50 toy she has, I think..
So since, this Trio tablet came pre-rooted, there's a good possibility the other Trio's come pre-rooted too, and to test of yours is pre-rooted or not, you can simply follow what I did with my smaller Trio, first downloading Aptoide, then it's repos (for more apps). Using Aptiode, search, download and install Titanium Backup, SuperSU and Busy Box to confirm root access. Lucky Patcher and Root Explorer can also be found in Aptiode.
Oh by the way, I only had to install the Play Store, using Lucky Patcher, the other Google Apps that usually accompany it, was already installed on the tablet.
I would like to install a custom recovery for it, in case it ever crashes or freezes, and install back the factory ROM. It does have its own recovery, but can only be accessed thru the settings menu, which is no good, if it was to ever freeze up or can't boot. I tried all the different combos with the power, volume, and reset button, but can't ever access the recovery menu that way. It just takes me to the Android guy, lying open with a red exclamation point sticking out of its belly. Using the recovery thru the settings menu, actually takes you to a regular recovery menu, where you can pick to reboot, factory wipe, upgrade from SD, ect..
I tried installing CWM thru Rom Manager but it didn't have a recovery specific to this tablet and I wasn't sure if I could install a different tablets recovery onto this one..
If anyone happens to know how or where I can find one for this tablet, please let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it! :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advanced!

Greetings, had a quick question for you. This was a great post, as I was having issues rooting this and had heard this device is aleady rooted. I was able to install Aptoid onto it with no issue, but when I tried Titanium Backup, it said the device was NOT rooted..? Do I need to install SuperSU first, then titanium backup? Thanks in advance if you get a chance to respond. I was able to get this device for $20 with a giftcard and was stoked to see how you got it setup.
Thanks!
Trio Stealth Lite Flixster problem
Hi,
I got the Trio Stealth Lite 4.5 inch screen and got a problem. I cannot play videos from my flixster account. I downloaded a ota root keeper and it did not help. So, can someone help me on how to root the device so I can use this device better, I don't want to mess it up. Thanks
Tried and thought i got it, but...
I have a Trio Stealth Pro 7c that I have been working on for over a week now to get Google play. It came rooted out of the box so I followed the above post with success. I downloaded Aptiode market, Titanium Backup, Busy Box, and all the rest suggested in that order. I loaded a mod version of Play that worked and I was playing games and loving it!! Then I powered down and went to bed. Next power on it had done a system reset and taken out all old markets and left only google play which was great except it seemed to add a partition to the internal memory which now wont allow me to download any apps and has erased all previous apps i loaded. It will fully function and I can use other app programs but if I download a google play app it says no room ( i now have have 2 internal storage menus 1 showing full with 35.44 mb apps and the second showing 1.71 gb total space with 1.65gb available.) Any thoughts on how I can either undo the partition so i can change to the original settings and start over or how to just undo the system restore that some how takes place at each power off? Not sure how I did it either! Thanks!

[Q] I need help reinstalling Android on Generic Tablet

Ok, so I'm an amateur Android root hacker and I was trying to install a DL'd Android file (volt) to swap external SD to internal phone staorage. I messed up. Now the tablet will not boot, as it gets stuck in the logo screen. I have tried ALL reset methods including recovery mode. When I try to select recovery mode, it only gives "NO" as as an option to factory reset. I have read online that I may be able to boot Android from an Micro SD card but this is where I get stumped. Can I use ANY 4.2.2 build, or is it device specific? If so, how do i find my build on a generic tablet such as mine? Here is what I can tell you about my tablet. It is a Tagital 9" A23 running 4.2.2. Here is title to the exact tablet on Amazon that may include some useful information. I can;t post the direct link because of my NEWB status.
Tagital® 9" Android 4.2.2 A23 Dual Core Dual Camera Tablet PC Play Store Pre-installed (Enhanced Version of A13)
As you can see, I'm only into the device for $75, but I would not only enjoy a working tablet, but also a solution to the original issue of partioned internal storage being all out of whack (502mb for device storage and then 4.8gb available, partitioned internal storage, not being used).
I apologize in advance if this is not the correct area to post, but I am a newbie. Please help!
Yikes. Sounds like you made a brick. I'd recommend looking for support via the manufacturer web site some have stock Roms for devices. Did you see if anyone had a thread here for that device? Good luck.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of...I just bought a duplicate tablet today, having it shipped overnight, do you think I can mount a recovery image from the new tablet and install on the first?

just wondering...
i'm kinda stumped.. but if you can get into recovery I believe you may be able to either download a compatible rom several that sound like they would work on your device(search via Google) or maybe backup the new one you just bought and push those file to it(Maybe via adb)/ make a flashable zip and reinstall via sd... speculating ovi cause I don't have that style of tab...

[Q] TF Prime boots into Android, but not into recovery

Hi everyone,
I purchased a used Asus Transformer Prime from someone locally. They already installed CynaogenMod on it, and it booted and appeared to work fine (albeit more slowly than what I expected/was used to, but that could be for several reasons). My initial intent upon purchase was to use it to dual-boot with Ubuntu or another Linux distro, but I haven't been successful in fulfilling that desire yet. Here's what I've done:
I tried to copy a folder into the "root" of the tablet, but it doesn't seem to take. So, I thought that maybe I needed to resize the partition (perhaps it was too small). To do this, I downloaded and ran Clockwork Mod ROM Manager premium and tried to flash the bootloader, but that doesn't seem to work- when I now try to boot into recovery by holding down the power and down vol. buttons, I get the four choices as I usually do - RDK, Android, USB, Wipe Data- but upon pressing RDK, the system just says it is booting the recovery image and hangs. I've also tried TWRP Manager, and it crashes. The system boots into Android just fine. The only other thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to like my SD card - when I try to access the storage option in Android upon inserting it, storage crashes. Sometimes it will say I have inserted a blank SD card but it won't let me do anything with it.
Settings says my Kernel version is 3.1.10-g0cef264-dirty, [email protected] #2, Sun Nov3 20:11:09 EST 2013
CynanogenMod version 10.2-2031103-UNOFFICIAL -tf201, build number cm_201-userdebug 4.3.1 JLS36l 2e7bb9b83c test-keys
Android version 4.3.1
I downloaded and installed Flashify in hopes that it would work, but still no dice. I have tried a few other steps, suggested to me by a helpful fellow on the Flashify Google + community page , but haven't made progress.
What I'd ideally LIKE to happen is that I can get a dual boot for both Ubuntu and Android. I'm willing to do whatever I need to so this will happen, including wiping the tablet and starting from the ground up. However, I'm pretty new to Android modification (though I know my way around Android OS) and may need a bit of explanation on how to do certain things.
Any ideas?

Help with finding a rom for SUSAN

Hi
I have a chinese android phone, it displays "SUSAN" when it starts up and here are the techincals:
Development Device ID
J3RF-M3EP-6USW-6
MODEL NUMBER
M5
ANDROID VERSION
5.1
BASEBAND VERSION
SC7731
BUILD NUMBER
DW_X10_H2.0_GT022X_M5_BOE_QG_FL_V1.0_20171202
HARDWARE VERSION
HW_V2.0
I am trying to find ANY rom that will actually allow me to use the phone.
It has an Octa Core, 2GB ram, 32GB storage.
Problem is, the firmware that is installed at the moment will not allow me to install ANYTHING as it says there is not enough space.
I have done fill hardware resets and it still reports this. I have even put a 32GB Micros SD and set that to be the install location, and it still wont allow me to install anything.
The phone is already unlocked.
I have NEVER flashed a firmware before so please, make the instructions as idiot proof as possible.
Thank you in advance.
Dude, that phone is the classic sh*tty clone that dont have what they say, just use a sdcard and is done

How to completely delete and install fresh Android on my Amlogic S805?

1st I want to say, thanks for checking my question!
Maybe the more precise question would be "How to flash Amlogic S805", right?
Ok then. In my Android TV I have installed Amlogic S805 (S805.5). Now I know that I probably made mistake buying that TV but it's ok afterall. It's 40' 1080p TV.
Everything is good except this Amlogic making me headaches every day, sometimes every week and sometimes it works for month or two without problems.
Whichever version of Google Play Services I install work for few days and then all apps start to crash, one by one until I ger white screen with text "This machine has serious error, need reboot to repair".
Sometimes it fixes problem and boots straight to Android home page but usually it just stuck with Boot loop, sometimes it's doing restarts immediately after Android animated logo appears... Also it happens that when I select "Smart TV" source of signal on my TV that there is no signal, even if I can see that Ethernet light on my router (which is right next to TV connected to it) is lit up, which means that it's connected and working but it's not giving picture?!
This Amlogic board has a reset button of course which just resets device, THERE IS NO ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY which is making me think that there is no way to wipe this broken OS for my Amlogic and install new one. When holding reset button 1st what's appearing is message saying that Android is being reseted, after setting all up it works normally until next few days it start to crash again.
Now, finally, my question is. Does any of you knows how and where I can download and install completely new Android (I would like to move from this Android 4.4.2 to Android 5.1) with SD Card? I have one photo right now of board itself, on board there is SD Card slot in which I can put SD Card with TWRP and Android 5.1? Will with SD Card inserted instead of reset Android System Recovery appear on screen (or TWRP) allowing me to wipe everything and install custom ROM or however is the right term to say?
How can I do it and is it even possible?
P.S But in short.
1. I need program that can make bootable SD Card with TWRP and Android 4 or Android 5
2. TWRP
3. Android OS
4. Little explanation how to correctly install new OS with TWRP.
Thanks!
