When will T-Mobile release 2.17.401.1 with Wifi-Calling support? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Considering T-Mobile just released 1.27.531.8 OTA, and there are many many updates that have already been released, most recently 2.17.401.1 with Android 4.2.2 which is really nice, anyone think they will release 4.2.2 update soon? I like 4.2.2, especially coming from a Nexus 4, but I cannot use it on a daily basis because I heavily rely on wifi-calling. Many of the buildings I work in have little to no reception for any carrier lte or otherwise so wifi calling is huge.
Anyone know what needs to be tweaked in order to get wifi-calling working on 4.2.2? Does T-Mobile have any phones with wifi-calling on 4.2.2 currently?

Yes mine too -- works great on 4.1.2. Recently 4.2.2 JellyBean ROMs have come out for the HTC One. Unfortunately Wifi calling is not implemented in any of these ROMs.
I believe the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the only T-Mobile phone that is on 4.2.2 and has wifi calling implemented. Probably have to grab all the necessary files off that phone to get it working on the HTC One, otherwise we are waiting on T-Mobile to release the 4.2.2 update for the HTC One.

yes. i believe the devs on the international forum are waiting for the 4.2 wifi calling apk or whatever it is so if you can get it from someone on the s4 forum and give it to a dev over there they might be able to work with it

[Q] tmobile wifi calling on cyanogenmod 10.xx

How to get this on?
I have cm10, unlocked bootloader and am enjoying the fact that I can use my data for emails for work... but I live in LA, which apparently is rural and has no cell phone reception with this provider (t-mobile).
Is there an app that would do tmobile's wifi calling, like in previous releases of CM? is there a way to extract the files from the original build (ICS/JB) and put them on the CM?
I really need it, and it seems all the other threads on this die.
I don't believe it's possible to side load it without official support as Wi-Fi Calling is kernel related.

Maybe you can just flash back to stock if you're that desperate.

Wifi calling is a T-mobile feature/app. It is only on T-Mobile branded and modified Android phones such as TouchWiz on the Galaxy S3. You could buy the Nexus 5 straight from T-Mobile and it won't have wifi calling either because the version of android on it is pure, T-Mobile doesn't touch it at all.
So if you want wifi calling, you need to go back to stock rom or find a TouchWiz based rom such as Dandroid. Dandroid is nice because it is a TouchWiz rom but is themed to look like AOSP and even has similar features but keeps the important TouchWiz stuff like wifi calling.

Verizon I-545 with T-mobile sim Q&A

I know this has been addressed a few times, but with the new radio's and T-mobile running on LTE bands I feel it can be addressed again.
I have been running a T-Mobile sim in my Verizon S4 for about 9 months now having 90% functionality of T-Mobile apps and after 4.3 using LTE with a few MMS hiccups that seem to have been ironed out.I have ran just about every ROM available here on XDA, and even attempted to write my own Rom a couple times with limited success. And every ROM I have ran was written for Verizon, I just changed the APN settings, and sometimes had to flash some other items to get them working 100%.
I have a few things I am working on trying to "fix" such as Hotspot and a few T-Mobile only apps. I have convinced my phone it is a SGH-M919 changing a lot of info in the build prop, which allows me to use the T-Mobile TV app. But being a trial and error kinda guy I don't know how much of my editing was necessary, or if I actually needed to change more to allow me to use the hot-spot app. I have bricked my phone to many times to count trying out Radio's and changing setting in the ROMs trying to make my I545 more a T-Mobile phone than a Verizon phone.
I have seen alot of "ports" such as the 4.4.2 GE that I am currently running ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031 ). The first release I had amazing signal and no connection issues. But after the DEV (Danvdh) plucked away at it making it work better for Verizon and fixing a lot of Verizon data issues has started to have a couple signal issues here and there. Nothing that I would say broke the connection but definitely slowed a few things for me down.
Same for the INT build ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552605 ) from jrkruze it works amazing then started to slowly after updates not work as well as it did from his first release. The ROM got better but my "connection" got worse.
So on to my question:
What is being changed in the ROMs that make them better for Verizon? I know that I am part of a small majority of people here running a SIM and a network that it was never supposed to run on, but it does work and I would like to make it work as best as it can. I know I can go back and use the older versions of the ROMs but I like the other changes and I like being able to update.

How do you have LTE working? Correct me if I'm Wrong but TMO has LTE on 700/1700, the i545 doesn't support either of those bands. HSPA+ with a 4gLTE logo maybe?

The AWS spectrum was unlocked for the i545 a few updates ago. Since TMobile LTE runs on the AWS band, a Verizon S4/i545 is capable of running TMobile LTE
AWS was unlocked with the MJ7 modem.
I get 29Mbps down 6.5 up defenitly not H+ the whole Seattle area is AWS so I am loving it. That combined with T-mobiles truly unlimited data I torrent on the go!
Do you receive SMS? I just switched about an hour ago to T-Mobile and everything works except for receiving SMS messages. Not sure how to get it working.

you have to change your APN settings.
If you are interested I am working on something else, that would give us T-Mobile guys a working 4.4.2 TW ROM...

[Q] Port wifi calling from T-Mobile Z3 to Z2?

Is anyone thinking of attempting to try and see if a port would work? T-Mobile's wifi calling should work as it's just baked into the ROM. Just picked up a new Z2 off that ebay deal for $399 as I read that the bootloader on the T-Mobile Z3 is not unlockable.
A port should work as long as someone spends the time to do it. I'm gonna try to do it myself because it seems that the Z2 lacks US carrier support on the forums, so not likely going to see any of the current custom ROM makers do it for T-Mobile US.
I have WiFi Calling working perfectly on a Galaxy Note II AT&T version running a T-Mobile ROM (baseband still AT&T). So the usual rumor that only a T-Mobile branded phone can use WiFi Calling is simply not true. Any phone can use the feature as long as you have a T-Mobile SIM card plus a ROM that has the WiFi Calling feature embedded.

SM-G850F and SM-850M what's the deal ?

Well I have 2 unopened Samsung Alphas sitting in front of me.
1. SM-G850F (International from Germany)
2. SM-G850M (Unknown Origin)
I have Many sim cards that i am using. But the main one i want to use is the T-mobile USA.
What i have gathered reading is the F has the custom recovery where as the rest A,W(QuadCore) Y(Asia ?) do not.
All of them seem to have Root.
Version A is tuned for AT&T
Version W is tuned for T-Mobile USA LTE (But is a Quad)
etc etc
But the info on the M Bands is very vague, as in the Band listing on the website is always different listed for the M.
So what are my advantage of picking one over the other (M of F) for T-Mobile USA ?
As far as i know every other version than the A has exynos chipset with the octa core cpu and the A has qualcomm with quad core cpu and thats why almost every other version has root and the A dont.
Sent from my SM-G850F
Why the hell are they doing this ...
So how different is the M from F ?
I cant find any info regarding the M having custom recovery also.

SM-G850M on Tmobile USA
I have 4G Stable aka LTE
Very happy with my outdated discontinued phone hahahahahah
I agree the Bands Info on 850 M is vague or conflicting .
But it seems that you should have the
1700/ 2100 LTE Bands for Tmobile 4G LTE and the 1900 band for 3G
needed with the M Version.
Are you getting full performance on 3G , 4 G and LTE on your Alpha ? ?
Yes i am getting all bands 2g 3g 4g H+ LTE depending where i am at sometimes E. Though during a call i only get lte or h if non of those my data doeent work during a call
SM-G850M (Vodafone) = Branded
SM-G850F (Europe) = Non Branded

Can you tell me if the G850M is carrier-branded in any way? I know the G850F isn't, and I was wondering if the same is true for the G850M. Basically, I would like to receive Android updates directly from Samsung without carriers getting in the way, and I would like free use of the Portable WiFi Hotspot/Tethering feature (even without having it as part of your plan). I know Nexus phones allow you to do this.
Thanks!

850M is not carrier-branded...it's unlocked and sold by Vodafone. I rooted mine, so can't get updates through Samsung anymore.
I did use it to create a Wi-Fi hotspot to tether my laptop. It works well, and I do not pay extra for this feature on ATT.

Thanks very much for your responses! I greatly appreciate it.
I found a 850M on eBay for $89.99 couldn't believe it, excellent condition like new. I rooted it, installed another XDA members 4.4.4 ROM but couldn't notice any difference from stock, works fine on Cricket (At&t) prepaid, 4G same speeds as my previous S5 Mini At&t version phone, around 8mbps down, 4mbps up, half that when on a call. I cannot find many 850M's on the market, it's amazing. I want to buy at least 1-2 more, these are one of the best phones Samsung produced, especially one of the last good phones with removable battery! There are more 850F's on eBay but may not have as fast data with At&t as they are EU version. After my experience with S5 mini on 5.1.1 ROM I noticed much faster battery drain and prefer 4.4.4 performance. Hope my post helps someone=) -Aje

However I didn't notice any difference from the stock ROM, was surprised to see the same original games included which I consider bloatware. Anyway the phone works great after rooting and uninstalling a lot of things, although it did suddenly crash and restart yesterday while on a phone call, first and only time in about a week I've had it. I love this phone and the size is perfect.
Really wanted to try this ROM but DL link is no longer working and no one is replying lately.

Rom supporting Sprint WiFi calling?

So I finally gave up waiting for LG/Sprint to deliver MM. I rooted and installed CM13 last week. One thing I overlooked is that I frequently go to the lake where Sprint service sucks and I have good good internet service. What ROMs are available with working Sprint WiFi Calling? I would guess none of the AOSP/CM13 based roms would work. Since Sprint/LG still haven't released MM I am going to guess that I will have to go with a Lollipop based rom like BareZee? Am I missing a good option?
Currently I'm trying to get that option in Nougat...I will report back if anything comes of it
