[Q] Stuck in Boot Loop; Need Help - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

So I've had my Verizon S4 rooted since I got it a few weeks ago and today I decided to put a custom ROM on it.
I installed TWRP Recovery via GooManager
I installed Hyperdrive RLS2 Android 4.2.2 ROM. I booted to it, it ran fine. I rebooted my phone and now it will not turn back on. I get stuck at the Galaxy S4 screen with the unlocked padlock icon. Sometimes I can boot into TWRP recovery but then it just hangs on the "Teamwin" blue screen. How do I get out of this?
Any help is greatly appreciated
-Ben
Edit: After numerous battery pulls and restarts I finally got back into recovery, flashed OUDHS recovery, wiped data, cache, reinstalling Hyperdrive RLS2 Android 4.2.2 ROM via OUDHS

You may want to do a stock restore and then resetup your roms.

Did you put it in the PDA field? IT should be working. Worked fine on other peoples phones. Also did you extract the file? It's compressed. Use winrar to extract it. www.rarlabs.com.

I did extract, it is a 2.55GB .tar.md5 file. I'm not sure why it won't work, I am familiar with ODIN as I have previously used it to root the phone. I am trying to download the one click executable restore now and try my luck with that...

Finally got it, I had to do it through the .exe
Im not sure why. And at this point it really doesn't matter. I just hope that after this I will be able to have my phone up and running for tomorrow.
Thanks again for all of your help, I really appreciate it!

What files are you trying to flash? Did you use Safestrap to install RLS16?

That's why I need to know if you used Safestrap as your recovery. It's very likely you're trying to flash the wrong file with Odin.
If you had Safestrap your build wasn't MDK. If you didn't need Safestrap then your build was MDK.
So I'll ask again, what file are you trying to flash, with Odin, that keeps failing?

NO!!! You cannot flash the MDK file, you cannot downgrade the S4! Always ends badly, go to the general section and grab the NC5 full-wipe tar and flash with ODIN.

From here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172. I would choose the "Full Wipe" version. Make sure you have a good download. Check MD5. Make sure you follow the directions for Odin. If you verify all of that, and it still doesn't work, I'm afraid I won't be any more help. Someone with more knowledge than I have will have to step in. Good luck.

I can vouch for the full Version. Saved my bacon.
You have to boot the phone into a special mode that will allow ODIN to funtion
Turn off the SGS4 and boot it into Download/Odin Mode: press and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds till you see a warning screen. Then press Volume Upkey to enter Download Mode.
I got it!!! Found my Samsung cable and all went well. TY for ALL the help!

[Q] trying to install stock OS for my Samsung Galaxy Light

I want to install stock OS for my Samsung Galaxy Light, but the system partition has been formatted. I can boot into Team Win Recovery Project, and I've downloaded the stock image tar.md5 file. Can Team Win restore OS from a tar.md5 file? Would ODIN work when Team Win Recovery Project is installed?

Hi, all! I'm having an issue with reformatting my girlfriend's SGH-T399. Hoping someone here can help.
Basically, her story is the phone tried to auto-update OTA and got stuck on "Upgrading apps (4/4)". Now, when rebooting, the phone is stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Light" logo screen.
The phone can boot into download mode, but can't boot into recovery (goes straight to download) which makes me think somehow the recovery partition was corrupted or some such issue. I've tried re-installing the stock firmware through Odin, but Odin always gets stuck on "Initializing", which is another problem I can't seem to find a fix for. I've also tried using Kies, but Kies always gets stuck at 0% when trying to upgrade the phone's firmware.
To be clear, I can get Odin and Kies to recognize the phone and start the formatting process, but neither progresses at all once the process actually begins. We'd be happy with getting stock firmware back, or with installing a custom rom such as LightWave, CM, anything. This is her only phone and we really need to get it up and running again. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi this happened on my device too. Pretty much the same thing except I have sgh t399n. To fix flash TWRP through Odin as you did the first time, here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934519351 and then flash any ROM. You could flash lightwave or CyanogenMod. If you had a backup use it. I downloaded someone else's backup but I can't find any backup for T-Mobile so just flash a ROM after flashing twrp.

Wait but Odin doesn't work completely or just doesn't work with TWRP. Do you have it as run as administrator. Right click the Odin file then click run as administrator and allow. If that doesn't work do you have the Samsung drivers? And last do you have windows or mac?

Odin has not worked for any package I've tried thus far. It always gets stuck on "Initializing". I am running as an administrator. As far as I know, all my samsung drivers are up to date. I'm running Windows 7 and both Windows and Odin recognize the device. I've tried this on 2 separate Win 7 pcs, so I don't believe the issue is with my setup but rather with the phone itself.

Stuck at Recovery and can't boot android

So I just installed the 0.2.3 cm 12 beta rom on and since I was giving my galaxy light to a friend I decided to do a factory reset so when I did that the phone rebooted and now its stuck at the twrp recovery splashscreen. I've already tried rebooting and re-flashing twrp but no luck. Could it be a cache problem or something? Thanks to all in advance who reply.

Im guessing you wiped device and if you go into recovery and try to reboot system it will tell you no os installed if that is the case you can plug device into computer and still use twrp as file manager thats if you had a backup stored on desktop or drag a CM zip to device .
other method of course would be to enter download mode and use odin to flash stock firmware for your device not sure if you have t399 or the N varient lastest beening OH2/OH3 you can find that in my filehost i have stock odin zips to flash.

I used the download from this guide by ShabbyPenguin: http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-restore-your-galaxy-light-to-stock-mja.846767/
Hey guys...I did the same thing but my t399 must have lost battery charge because when I picked it back up, it was dead...I plugged in and it started flashing the Samsung screen slowly at me. It would not reboot. I did get download and twrp to show up and start to atleast work enough to flash and Odin again...I used Shabby's kernel source and it is still doing the same thing after flashing through Odin. Still stuck on Samsung screen slowly flashing and recovery shows no operating system. I'm about to put it back in a drawer but I feel it's so close that I had to ask for help. I flashed shabby work to root and recovery. I flashed twrp 2.7 and the cm12 beta rom. Then back to shabby guide to get it to recognize, it did..kind of..but still boot looped. Flashed 3 times... No changes. Can anyone help or is it time for a staircase? hA!
Oh yes .. I don't think the battery is bad.. I checked it with a meter and it reads voltage. It does get pretty hot while I'm working on it though and my pc shows its charged at 100% but the phone doesn't show that...it stays in like dead mode. Nit recognizing again. Anybody have suggestions? In recovery it also indicated it can not locate most of my files in read after I flash.. what am I doing wrong.
sgh-399n bootloop
It's taken me 2 months to cry for help. I'm not a complete noobie, but I'm completely exhausted. First of all, one morning I woke up and I thought that somehow my battery was dead. It wasn't. Eventually, I found it in a bootloop. This phone was working fine, running a "Tiger_Lilly" ROM the night before. I've tried everything using Odin, adb and fastboot (I'm not sure how to get the phone in fastboot mode and also, before using Odin, TWRP wouldn't mount/data.) I'm stumped. Would appreciate some help, thank you.

What was you using prior to it bootlooping and what rom was installed have you modifed anything else such as partions etc...
also list your method and link rom your trying. just wondering if its the lastest version for device. while in odin also make sure Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time is only selected and what version of odin are you using?
If your unable to flash any rom thru odin then there must be a major problem else where until we can narrow it down no one can assist you.

It dowloads to the phone as i can see the blue line going along at the bottom, it then reboots to my rom and i can use the old rom alright but when i go into recovery it says in red writing Could not do normal boot-Odin mode. And i have to go back onto Odin and download TWRP again and my old rom is back again. 1: How do i delete TWRP altogether and start again ( if i can ). 2: If i cant delete TWRP how do i go about putting a new rom onboard. I have searched your forums and can not see any with same problem with a Note 3. I still have root access and have tried Rootify with no luck.
Newer TWRP and rom are probably based on newer firmware. I'd back up everything, Odin the newest firmware then reinstall TWRP and flash new rom. This way you'll have the newer bootloader and modem.

The forum here for your phone. If you can't find it here then sammobile.com but really slow speeds there.

hi es0tericcha0s I downloaded the latest firmware from xda website, and Odin doesn't recognize it. So i downloaded another one and it still doesn`t recognize it. How do i get it to recognize them? i need MD5 or Tar or smd files
I wouldn't know without knowing what you downloaded. Often the .tar or .tar.md5 files that you download here are zipped to conserve space. Most likely just have to unzip it.

Yes thats how it came. Do i unzip it and what files do i extract?
Not trying to be mean, but if you don't know how to unzip a file, this stuff might be a bit over your head.

Your`e not being mean but i did look into the folder and it had 3 files in it a META-INF, qaraqumus and system folder
Then you have a rom and not the firmware.

Ok , little confused as i went to xda and downloaded the latest firmware which is called : QS-N9005-LP-XXUGBPB1 - 01.05.16.
I downloaded a firmware and this time got the extracted file, i opened up odin and try to put the firmware onto my Note 3, but a little into the job it failed and now my phone wont boot up at all. It just gets to the white writing of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005, and no further. Can you help?

It's not uncommon that you would need to boot to recovery and perform a factory reset after the flash. And it will take awhile to reboot afterwards.

Its still not letting me put TWRP on is there any way round this, I downloaded TWRP 2.8.7.0 and did it via Odin 3.10.6. At the moment i have the recovery that came with the firmware and that is saying error on every Rom i am trying. If you cant help where do i put it on, Q & A or XDA Assist. Do i have to format my phone and start from scratch? Thanks in advance.
