Definite improvement over BB77
Just flashed BB86. Too early to comment on battery life. However, I downloaded a 35MB game from the Play Store and was amazed at both how quickly it downloaded and how cool the phone seemed to stay compared to BB77.
Subjective evaluations, I know, but I'm impressed by BB86 so far.
Update: battery life overnight also improved from about 1% / hour to 0.75% / hour.

True... old firmware though. And no battery improvement.
.42 or .62 are both fine. We have 2 Neos, one on stock .42 and one on stock .62 without issues.
Only get battery issues with alternative kernels... including my own compile!!

You don't need to reflash the kernel. You use recoveryNeo.img which is for Hot Boot only. It BOOTS in to CWM ONCE. You then use rootxperia.zip via CWM and the next time you boot everything is stock + root.
I did explain this earlier....

Flashing - Userdata always fails

hi,
I have problem when i try to flash my Neo.
Userdata always gives me write error at Wotan (nordic) .42 When wotan shows me i have 80MB left on ROM space at phone.
Userdata always fails with Flashtool if i dont tick ignore userdata.
Flashtool works ok ONLY if i ignore the userdata.
I used recover to clear cache and userdata... but still same error.
SEUS give me - "u have modification firmware - repair/update canceled"
Does anyone know what is wrong?
-
SE Neo .42, rooted by superoneclick and unlocked bootloader with recover.
For time being - global firmware 2.3.4 - .42
Anyone? Still have no solution to this.
Seems like it fails when it's only have 80MB left on ROM (That whats WOTAN says on flashing)

But yes, would love a tweaked stock Slim and fast, only for weather, social apps, photo/vid, online and calling. That fits my needs.

I don't understand where is the problem, you are now on ICS, you can't just flash some .62 zip via CWM. By doing that you will only(most likely) replace system partition, other stuff like kernel, baseband, data will be left from ICS.
ThilinaC told you to do a full flash first. Meaning, first flash some GB ftf, then root, then CWM, and then you can flash that zip in CWM.

hm, my advise:
flash .42 ftf, root, CWM, flash that zip you linked, and then flash stock .62 kernel(you can flash stock even on locked BL, of course if you don't have SIM-lock, meaning if your fastboot is enabled)
or you can check this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468866
and get .62 via OTA update, after flashing .42.

In every install of new custom ROM - you MUST do a Dalvik cache clean and mostly the full wipe. The full wipe is not necessary but recommended. After this second reboot is also recommended and taking a few minutes to settle

[WARNING] New 4.3 Update locks you to 4.3

Well today i found out after getting tired of this trying to root 4.3 i decided to use a custom rom again.
Guess what happend...
No custom rom works anymore as imei magically dissapears. It only returns if you ... guess what...
Use Sony 4.3.
Well thank you very much Sony assholes for updating s1boot and making it irreversibel.
Luckily it seem that it might be able to get fixed with new proprietary blobs but that will maybe take some time for some dev's to add on their builds.

Oh god thanks :good:
i had this experience: i have the 6802, and i was on the stock 4.3 update, flashed the adv. stock kernel to get recovery, and restored a CM10.2 nandroid. when it booted up i had no radio signal, so i restored everything from a .257 FTF except system and kernel, and after that everything was fine. i don't know if this was 'correct', but it worked. i didn't check to see if i lost IMEI, but i definitely have it after doing those steps.

I simply did a nandroid restore with the CWM recovery from the CM 10.2 boot.img - all up and running, IMEI still there.

i had this experience: i have the 6802, and i was on the stock 4.3 update, flashed the adv. stock kernel to get recovery, and restored a CM10.2 nandroid. when it booted up i had no radio signal, so i restored everything from a .257 FTF except system and kernel, and after that everything was fine. i don't know if this was 'correct', but it worked. i didn't check to see if i lost IMEI, but i definitely have it after doing those steps.

Yes, flashing .257 FTF fixed it for me too (C6802). I flashed everything.

ah hey, cool. yeah, i would'a flashed everything but i wanted to stay on CM10.2. so i just made sure the other firmware was downgraded.
but again, it seems possible that there cold be other differences between the 6802 and the others? i dunno, but some people seem to be saying to use the baseband from .290 even if you downgrade back to .257?

In my case, I wanted to go back to stock. That's why I flashed everything About the baseband, I don't know cause I didn't note down the version before I flashed .290 so I have nothing to compare to. The one major difference of C6802 from other models is that we can flash ROMs without needing fastboot 'cause kernels are somehow allowed to be flashed from recovery.
please edit the original post title to reflect there's no problem
thanks
so im on 4.3 unrooted
was planning on flashing omni 4.4 .. i need to flash 4.2 (without the baseband) root it and then install omni? kinda confused! lol

Ya thts right.Plus you have to unlock the bootloader too if u havnt yet.
Hrm... You know, for the life of me, every time I flash from the 4.3 update with Flash Tool, I still lose my IMIE data and thus can't use the mobile connection.

u and me both... if i jump to a older FTF i get imei 000000000
But if i jump to the newest before 4.3 i get imei 0
and excluding baseband didnt work... so no its not solved.

I went from 290 to 532 without baseband and lost IMIE.
Flashed 290 WITH baseband and now have imei back. :good:
