[Q] color saturation setting and 4.2.2 update - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 2 questions
1. Is there any way to increase color staturation via tools or upcoming updates from sony. (ie display colab was ported to xperia z)
2. Will this tablet recieve the 4.2.2 update or is cm10 needed.
Thanks and i apologize if the questions are too noobish.

1. Not yet. My guess is that we will probably see it in a 4.2.2 update. No one actually knows yet.
2. Sony have said it will be coming soon. No date has been given though. I'm really hoping it improves performance or I'll have no choice but to go for another ROM.

Really nothing major, but it does stutter with the recent apps draw and similar little things. It also doesn't play animations very well in some spots. It is pretty snappy for the most part though, just not quite Nexus 4 snappy.

Nope, I'm on nova launcher. It's very fast and fluid on the home screen. The choppy animations are pretty random in odd areas, but still frequent enough to make me notice them. Small apps is very choppy for example.

For 1) - I am using the App "Screen Adjuster" for that.

Screen adjuster doesnt have an option for saturation or gamma. Hope sony releases their app.

JellyBean ported to our Flyer

Well,
i tried to see if the jellybean could somehow run, and currently it seems to run just as the ICS port that chaos did.
im still struggling with the bluetooth on it, but basically it seems to work, i still am not sure its h/w/egl accelerated.
but it runs, but looks pretty much like our ICS build with pretty much the same flaws and problems, except it using framework from 4.1.1.
im testing gps and other part the next days and might upload but cannot promise continued work on it, since our kernel is still the primary reason for missing camera and proper app switching and performance tweaks of kernel 3.x.
btw, it was based based on desireHD+tf201 builds. libs of DHD and framework from tf201 (got AdvancedPowerMenu builtin)
got problems with 160 as density, then its still with mobile view, 120 works, but very small.
Hi any news on development with port on one v ?
Is that his would be more functional to have a port with the htc ville C2? with HTC Sense
Thx for trying Dexter. How r the odds to improve the port? Same as XXL port?

well,
it goes forward. wifi, gps, compass, sound, vibrator, accelerometer, light sensor ..works..
camera, bluetooth and a fuzzy touch display when scrolling(as seen in other ics port)
I think the mobile view your seeing is the new 7 inch tablet mode. Basically the ui and launcher all look like a phone, while all the apps run in tablet view. I'm mixed on it myself, would be ok with it if the launcher worked in tablet mode. Good job nonetheless and good luck!

For me scrolling issue is the most annoying. It doesn't let us feel the fluidity of ICS and JB. And, fluidity is the USP of these higher versions. Though I use camera often also, but fluid scrolling is must for me. And, this is our main reason why we want ics on our device.

agree, and that is part of the onexxl rom, but sorry, i do not see it here and display drivers are not compatible.
but important is also that drivers are not native for this device, i might be in better luck porting a OneV rom, when its official.
i tried parts of the nexus one where possible, and still not much improved here.
camera i live without, i got a mobile + real camera beside this one.
So I guess Drew will not release his "build" because you have one now?

well, i am trying to port kernel changes to this rom, since chaos kernel compile, disables touch display for me, so im trying to see if i can get better performance on it with chaos work here, but unlike others, i cannot promise it works out. i am just trying for the fun.
i move from the tf201/dhd release to the official ota from nexus , so its odex'd for now, but does boot faster
okay,
i spend quite some time on it, and still no real progress.
media player is not using hardware decoding. and seems unstable when playing games.
i thought i had netflix working, but only upto playing a movie, and it went playing without picture
so for now, i am gonna rest on this work. it looked ok, but i do not accept all the bad flaws of it.
ill post an update, if i continue to look at it. for now i'm back at OneXXL
i decided to upload my work, with the recent changes done. you will find it online soon through this thread here

XPERIA S and Windows 8

So, as our Xperia S is ARM based I thought it would be great to port Windows 8 to Xperia S. It would look great on SONY's HD screen, and all those colorfull Windows 8 tabs would look just fantastic. Let's think of it, and do something.
wouldn't this be so fricking hard to port?
Sent with my Sony Xperia S using a little bit of KA magic.
pretty much impossible since windows is closed source so therefore finding a way to get hardware working is beyond possible.
if you wanted a windows phone you should of brought one , if you want an android phone to look like a windows phone then download W7 Launcher ;0
NO!
You see, android is not that smooth on this phone, it usually hangs, and design is not as good as it should be, I'm SE fan since childhood so I wont by any other phone, but SONY users must have easy choice what OS to install on the phone
Short answer: no. The internals of WinRT are closer to desktop and WinMo8 is very, very hardware dependant. This means that getting any hardware support on that without Microsoft is going to be very, very, EXTREMELY hard.
But, you must admit, that Win8 or Win7 would look great on XS ))) Just imagine it, I'm not fan of Windows phones, I really like android but Dualcore 1.5 Is not enough to run smooth

My 1.2GHz clocked AOKP JB running TF101 says BULL****.
No, really this phones are really slow, that's why we need better OS that uses less memory and cpu, for example when I open browser and music player, my music starts glitching and sometimes phone even hangs, its very stupid for 1GB ram phone, so lets do something about porting Windows, or something like that.

It's not because the phone is unable to run Android, it's because of bugs in Sony's firmware. CM10 is very fast for me and capable of running 5-10 apps with music in the background and zero stutter.
Android is smooth as butter on my XS running FXP131 CM9, There was nothing really wrong with it on the stock firmware except that Sony somehow felt the need to leave out WiFi Direct, If you want Windows phone, Go and buy a windows phone, The XS is way overpowered for it.

There's a fix for that stutter... Works on every single rom...
Go to system and change in build.prop the following values:
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=32m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=64m
Save and reboot...
Enjoy!!!

You see, there is one problem about it, SONY XPERIA S is not a cheap phone, when I pay a lot of money for it, is should work as smooth as watch, developer must do it's best to solve those firmware bugs, and SONY is just ignoring all our requests.

Thanks for the video! Although there weren't any verbal speech in this video but this video is nicely directed into simple sections and also included a section for switching apps from the recent apps menu :good:, Moving on to the smoothness, this is exactly what I'm talking about, switching between apps from the recent apps menu just stutters and I just can't bare the sight of it and it seems like the only workaround is to disable hw overlays, has anyone got any idea if this is still present on custom Roms like hb 1.3 per say?

There are less jarring bugs. For instance, I haven't experienced reboots (fingers crossed) or any screen tearing or screen glitches at high brightness (which I used to before, again fingers crossed)...

The lag or I should say FPS on Transformer Prime is horrible in general (I believe it got worse with JB).
For example, I have tested playing Wild Blood on 3 different device.
HP Touchpad, Asus Transformer Prime, Galaxy S3 (friends phone)
In terms of FPS & speed of the game....
Galaxy S3 > HP Touchpad (using CM9 overlocked to 1.5ghz) > and the very laggy Asus Transformer Prime performance mode.
Edit: Same with Chaos Ring (RPG from Square Enix)... same result. Transformer Prime just falls extremely short when it comes to graphic heavy games.

4.4 KitKat officially confirmed!

The 4.4 update has been confirmed by Morten Aagaard, manager for LG Denmark at a summit in Copenhagen!
Source (in Danish). Translation goes as follows:
"We're bringing an update plan for LG G2 for Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of the year or the start of the next year. But of course there will be an update for G2"
This is great news, guys! That French carrier "report" (which was slightly shady at best) was actually telling the truth!
How does that make you guys feel?
Did we ever doubt that it would get kitkat? We dont need confirmation to know this
And in my opinion the date doesnt matter unless its like supersoon to be excited about or superlate to be dissapointed, but this was expected.

I absolutely love what LG has done with Android. It's fast, customizable, beautiful and very, very stable. Not a single crash, and I've been using the phone a lot for six days now. However, transparency for 3rd party launchers and ability to hide the navigation bar would be cool. Otherwise I have no complaints. Best non-AOSP experience for me.
LG has impressed me so far, with the only problem being some of the performance problems (probably due to LG choosing a conservative scheduler and the aggressive throttling). This is with no doubt the best phone I've had. Samsung can go into a corner and adore their blue-screen-tech.
Nice nice, looking forward to it!
Well it's not very common for mfg's to skip an android iteration entirely. They usually roll them out incrementally. So yes, color me surprised they are jumping 4.3 and going straight to 4.4.
However, we should probably have some 4.4 lovin' before that in the form of some aosp rom.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
actually i think we really do need an update, but it doesn't have to be 4.4 or whatever. we just need some issues to be fixed or removed in some places like low camera performance at low light in the camera, some stutterings and lags which are preventing the smoothness of the UI and etc. Unless lg get these done, i don't even care if they give android 5 or 6.
I come from TouchWiz so I don't understand what's all the gripe about. Samsung enabled notification bar toggle removal with 4.3 (not sooner) and LG's UI allows me to tweak and add and customize pretty much everything I want.
Case in point: when I plug in my headset, I can edit the apps in the bottom mini-drawer instead of using the preset.
All I'm waiting for from 4.4 are TRIM and ART.

And OpenGL ES 3.0 (from 4.3 but still new on G2)!
Contrary to popular belief, it's not all that uncommon for companies to skip updates. I had the Sony Ericsson xperia x10 which was updated straight from eclair to gingerbread, skipping froyo. It happens, and excitedly believable in this case simply because the phone was launched behind an update. I expect that lg will go through 4.3 and straight to 4.4.

lag opening apps?

i pre-ordered a 16gb nexus 9. my only complaint is when tapping an app to open it nothing happens for up to (likely less than) 1 second, then the app pops up and all is good. this is slightly frustrating because this is a powerful tablet running lollipop (w/ ART) and my previous experiences with the nexus 5 were much smoother.
what gives?

Youtube seems to be doing that on everything with Lollipop atm
YouTube takes 2seconds to start, not to bad ?
Its the same for me.
After updating from L to R the battery lifetime increased but apps open pretty slow in general.
I had the same problems with stuttering animations and general freezes in the UI. I decided to do a factory reset and that fixed all stutter/lag problems for me (R-Build before and after reset). Now the system is super responsive.
