Dark Dialer and Contacts - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

I pulled these from the MintJelly rom. I'm using Wicked3 and they work great. Do not install like a normal apk. Make backup in System/app of the files you want to replace, drop these In the folder, set permissions and reboot

I've not rooted mine yet... I still have to find the best/right way to do it. The S2 was pretty simple, and my first. I am sort of tired of the stock MMS with the white, and the dialer. Thanks man!

I did the secMms.apk one it worked fine but now when I try type a message the background is blacked out and the text is black I cant see what im typing. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure about the black on black issue, it's working fine on my end
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium

Black on black is usually a theme related issue.. I suspect that the OP is using a different rom than the guys with the black text issue.
We've seen that alot on Cm/AOKP themes where there is a 'real dark' mod in the rom also that gets enabled. The mms app isn't accounting for the fact that the theme is different than the default. Notach based that black dialer and contacts on the Euro variant of the S4. Where as the North American device runes AMDL stock the Euro runs AMEA and I'd venture that the changes that need to be made are in either framework-res.apk or twframework-res.apk. Most likely some specific xml strings that need to be changed in twframework-res.apk since I believe the samsung messaging app makes touchwiz dependent calls.

any screen shots of the various versions here ?

Same black on black issue on MMS app on OEM AT&T Rom, and even when the Phone App was done just like the other 2, it never changes from White background. It's a shame as I was looking forward to this specific Mod, there's one thing I don't love about my GS4 and it's the white background on those Apps.

All of these worked great on clean rom 1.0. Thanks a lot this is what I was looking for.

Warning
Maybe I haven't done it correctly but, after copying and pasting the file "SecPhone.apk" using ES File Explorer the phone rebooted and the message "updating android" came up for a few seconds. I tried to restore from the backup that I had done before and that didn't work. So basically it worked. I just can't go back to the default settings and every time the phone boots up that message comes up for a few seconds. Does anybody know why that happened?

The 3rd and 4th link go to the same file. Is that correct or am I missing something?
I installed the 3 files and everything works except the Black on Black issue with SMS. Has any one found a fix for that?

Oh, and thanks a lot for this!

EDIT: Figured out the problem for stock at&t users and Black on black issue
I figured out the black on black problem. After you install the dark SecMms.apk Make sure to delete the accompanying SecMms.odex file. This solved the problem and will work fine on stock at&t Roms

Thanks a lot for the tip, as I've been trying this for some time and never figured that out, also, just to add something, after you delete the odex file, just restart the phone immediately as it will begin to give you error if you try to open the MMS app, after the reboot everything is GREAT, well at least as far as I can see.

Yea whoops forgot to add that. Glad I could help

[MOD] Remove home button lag associated with voice command app

Hi hope this is in the right section
I found a post in the GSII International forum that removes the lag that you experience when hitting the home button on our phones.
This is due to the voice command app. This fix removes the voice command double tap option, you will have to access it from the app drawer now but it removes the lag associated with the app launching when hitting the home button.
This has only been tested and confirmed working on Cog X2 Beta-3 and Cog X2 Beta-4. Does not work on odexed stock as well as Perception. YMMV
As usual flash at your own risk, I am not responsible for your phone or problems it has from this modification.
Here is a CWM package courtesy of jivy26 to make flashing a little easier!

This can also be done with adb push as follows:
adb push android.policy.jar system/framework
Yes it really makes a difference in my opinion. The lag was just ridiculous not to mention I would usually hit the home key a few times (very impatient hahaha) opening the voice command app which I never use.

ATT Visual Voicemail for ICS (taken from SkyRocket forum)

*Remove the TXT extension from the XML file attached first
Put VVM_release_aligned.apk in /system/app
Put com.att.vvm.sharedlib.xml in /system/etc/permissions
Put com.att.vvm.sharedlib.jar in /system/framework
Set permissions to each of these rw-r--r-- (that is read write for owner, read for group, read for other)
Reboot, turn off Wifi, and launch it from the app drawer to setup.
Note: On mine I initially got a "Not registered on network" message probably because I was on Wifi, but if this happens, leave VVM running in the background, call your voicemail manually and login, then go back to VVM. I'm not sure why it doesn't like Wifi being enabled.
This is for using ICS via your phone thru ATT's servers? In other words, a VM instanced ICS thru ATTs server?

Just for the information, I'm running CleanROM 3.5, and I don't get the tutorial notifications. Might just be ROM specific. I don't know what lines in the actual .xml file trigger the notification bubbles, I just know that this method helps to get them back. Sorry, guys!

It is the existence of Customer.xml itself that hides the bubbles. You can delete the contents of the file and it still doesn't bring back the bubbles. There is probably a settings line that needs to be added to show them.

So I went ahead and did this. I remember this from an older Samsung maybe my gs3 had it or my fascinate. I don't know maybe this used to have it but I like it. What does the use popup note selection do in the lock screen settings its been checked forever but I've never seen anything happen.

[How To] Stock Android Lock Screen

Edit build.prop
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=true
To
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen=false
Make sure you set the build.prop file permission properly.

Works great! Thanks. Getting alot closer to Nexifying the LG G2!
Do you have to unlock to answer the phone?
Should note that double tap to turn off doesn't work with this lockscreen though - need to double tap the status bar...
Is there a way to start widgets maximized by default with this lockscreen or that needs to be changed in code?
I have a smart window case. When I use the stock lock screen with this mod, the screen doesn't turn off when I close it. Its kinda weird. It makes the lock noise. If I lock the screen, opening the case wakes and unlocks the phone. Odd.

Smart case, works only with lg specific apps so,it makes since it wouldn't work with android stock lockscreen

do I edit the build.prop under system or some other ?
So I tried this, and it resulted in getting stuck at the LG splash screen. I'm on Verizon, is it by chance specific to another carrier? I'm running CleanRom 1.0 with a couple mods (for nav bar and status bar).
Any ideas?

crud...same problem here
I didn't run into any issues. But I am on stock rooted with twrp. You could always try booting into recovery and wipe cache. Hopefully you made a backup prior and can just reflash it

I tried it and got stuck on the LG logo upon boot. Not sure if I had something else conflicting or something. YMMV

Just boot in to TWRP, wipe cache, dalvic and system. Then relfash the rom. Wont lose any data that way.

Okay so maybe there is some dependency on that line in build.prop for some reason.
I will wait until someone gets it working (or has a workaround for Verizon) to mess around with this.
Thanks.
Anyone try this for T-Mobile G2 yet?
EDIT: just tried, does work

I had no problems editing my build.prop on VZW CleanROM. Make SURE you put the permissions back after the edit.
I believe permissions are the key. I successfully switched to stock lock screen on VS980 and made sure perms were correct of 644. When I went to revert back to LG lock screen I forgot to change perms and default is 666. Then I saw the failure to boot the kernel with a black screen after the LG bootloader screen like others have seen.
So got to test recovery backup restore and am happy it worked!

Unfortunately the space for on-screen buttons on the lockscreen appear inconsistent, i.e. the standard dark overlay over the wallpaper is cut off at the bottom.
So I tried to give it a shot, but running into weird issue with build.prop editing.
For some reason it only lets me type "fals" and then nothing else displays on the screen. I can't type out the full word "false" instead of true.
Has anyone seen this before? What are you using to edit build.prop?

Can't edit in text editor on the phone. I moved a copy to my computer, made the edit, moved back and changed permissions. No problems
