Sense Port to the S4? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is anyone working on a Sense rom port for the S4? The specs on the One and the S4 are almost identical, but I am no rom maker so I really have no idea if it would be easy to port or not.
I know, you sense haters are going to chime in "ERMAGAWD, Y WOULD U WANT SENSE, IT SUX. TOUCHWIZ/AOSP 4 LYFE", I think it looks pretty cool and I bet some of us (including me) would love to try it out on our S4's.
So has anyone heard anything? Or if you are working on a port, hows it going?

Nobody is going to waste their time since it will never work correctly.

yeah, it's really hard to do. they've never done it before and they most likely aren't going to start now lol

It has been done before, one device I know off the top of my head is the nexus one.

Why would it never work correctly? The phones are almost identical hardware wise other than the cameras. I know it would take time, but I bet someone/a team with enough know-how could get it all up and running

I know a while back there was a team working to port sense to the unlocked Galaxy Nexus. I actually ghetto ported an alpah to run it on my VZW GNex just to check it out. It never went anywhere because the developers said that the CPU and GPU in the GNex, not being Qualcomm, basically made it impossible to get the rom to work 100%.
With the S4 and the One being almost identical when it comes to hardware it seems like it would be completely possible. I guess only time will tell.

Custom ROMs aren't held back by legal issues as far as I know. People ported basically every UI to the HTC HD2 and no one ever got in trouble (That I know of at least)

Depends on what you are looking for. They have ported the sense launcher before on a Sprint Rom for the S3. But sense is made up of a lot of APKs that function together. This makes it hard to port over, and if it is ported it would probably crash a lot. But getting things like the launcher and widgets is possible if anyone would like to take the time to bring it over.

Sense launcher would be cool

I personally like sense...
Let the flames burn... I can handle it

Hehe a phone is a phone it's used for making calls and to contact other people, can't just hate it because of no custom roms, remember older phones like the Motorola V3? No custom roms back then but was a bomb

I wanna sell my amaze or at least trade for a gnex... Shouldve went to sammy but got this.. a beast phone but htc wont support it... Ics is garbage on here without the devs. But i guess once we get a good aosp rom ill have to stick with speed rom... Htc no more after this. I understand not updateding officially but at least release the drivers and make it easy for us to update our phones ourselves. -__-

Sounds and looks difficult. The Spen stuff is dependant on Touchwiz. So that must mean they somehow got all the touchwiz dependencies working in an AOSP based ROM, without needing an actual stock ROM

So I reached out to Gerrett the Dev who put together the Vengeance Note Edition MIUI Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688646). He said he might be up for the challenge but he needs to know the differences between the International and ATT note from a Dev stand point, and will need volenteers to test the rom and send log cats. I expressed my interest in offering my help and I sure others will join in, but I just need some help from one of our Devs to turn to when he has questions about our device. Any Devs interested in helping out?

I really really don't want to upgrade to the note2, I hate physical home buttons( I've had very bad experiences with it) all i want is the rom and its new goodies and hope that it plays nice with the blaze radios to keep using my baby on simple mobile.

Not looking good for the note 1 to get note 2 goodies! Note 2?
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
Port fron GN2 to GN1 is NOT going to happen anytime soon.
Where to begin. Even if they were porting the GN2 rom to the GN1, it would be the international GN1, NOT the US version, and the US version has completely different hardware, than the international one. ALL new Samsung phones are using all new hardware compared to the US GN1. There is no way those ROM's will make it over to our i717. the hardware is just too different. Because the US GN1 has LTE, they used the Qualcomm S3 SOC, and this was US only. The rest of the world used either the newer Qualcomm S4, or the Samsung SOC. The Note 2 uses Exynos (sp?) quadcore SOC radically different than our Note 1's.
You can forget about any Note 2 ports to the Note 1. Ports have been from like hardware, to like hardware, for example the AT&T Galaxy Skyrocket has basically the same internals, as our Note 1, and there have been ports that way. The Note used pretty much the last of those SOC's.
There is always the chance that Samsung will come out with an Official JB port for our phone.
I think you are correct, updates with gnote 2 goodies are very unlikely. Time to save up for a gnote 2!

OK so for me, I dig HTCs UI quite a bit. I know a lot of people don't like it one bit and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyways I saw this thread and thought if this could be ported over to the S3, could it be ported to the Note 2? I was just throwing this out there to see if there are any devs out there that would be willing to give this a try??? I don't know a thing about making ROMS at all Lol but ya, it would be cool. I think aosp is just easier to work on and also more people likes it over sense. Due to sense being battery hog. With that said each one has its pluses like sense camera is better. Like was said they have done about all they can do. 4.0 and so on still has issues as its harder to make a port to a device that has never officially got it. Why the bolt had so many issues trying to run sense 4.0.

Rumor has 4.3 android has great battery life. If we can ever get it stable. Would be awesome..

Did you ever get play services to update? I saw that was a problem people were having towards the end.
