[Q] i formatted my enternal sd-card on fat32 format - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm so depressed .. i have write a img on my enternal sd card ,,
i did that to install chromium os on my laptop .. cuz i don't have a usb memory .. so i did it on my sd
when the writing is over and everything is done ... i tried to open the sd card from my laptop and it didn't open .. it keep telling me THE FILE IS CORRUPTED ... something like that .. so i did a format for the sd but the space after formatting had been changed to 1G .. it was 16G!!!
and i wasn't able to acces the sd card which means that the sd is nothing no acces a FAKE 1G space ... any ideas how to fix this ?
and if changed the rom will it work ? ,, please ): :crying:
and to notice that the sd was connected to the laptop through my sgs2

internal or external sdcard?
you wrote enternal... so i cant tell which 1
anyway try rebooting phone or formatting card through cwm.. or using command prompt, type
cd..
cd..
cd..
format /U (Drive name)
Click to collapse
or try partitioning the card using cwm and then remove the partition through pc (right click my computer--> manage---> disk management--> right click partition remove)
your phone will say damaged sd card format? hit yes and reboot...
or use EASEUS DATA RECOVERY SOFTWARE...
and hope for the best...
and dont forget to press thanks

actually i can't access CWM .. because may be after the format the cwm files removed

[Q] 'Error mounting /sdcard/' Help

Hi guys,
My SD card got corrupted before flashing a rom, so I'm a bit stuck (I can access the CWM menu, the kernel is fine).
So I formatted the card to FAT32 (tried other formats) but when I try and flash an update.zip from it I get
E:Can't mount /sdcard/
So I'm thinking, are there some files missing from the SD card that CWM/android need to interact with it? I can imagine these files were wiped when I did a format. Like superuser files or something? You know also, those hidden files beginning with '.'
I've tried all the usual methods like formatting using SDFormatter and stuff - still, CWM can't see it (my computer can if USB is mounted). Am I right in thinking I need some kind of system files on the SD card?
Any help?
Thanks in advance
the best would be paid copy a rom sd card and flash, or flash a rom stock also either ics or gb and see if there cel recognize SD can not think of anything else. :highfive:
Ok, I guess I'll try that if there's nothing else. If I flash an official .ftf with Flashtool will I need to do anything to my bootloader (currently unlocked)?
Edit: I've been reading around and it seems almost certain that my sd card just needs some vital files on it for CWM and android...
Try by simply reflashing any kernel with cwm if your sd card is readable from pc it is not corrupted, it's more likely somethign wrong with cwm, you should be able to fix reflashing kernel which shouldn't be much of a prob since you have unlocked bl

Hey nice idea, but I tried that earlier and multiple kernels give the same error - it can't be CWM, it must be the SD card (or what's not on the SD card).
Edit: I've tried chkdsk and formatting to a variety of systems using a variety of partition managers, nothings works, my phone just can't mount the SD.

First backup your nandroid backup (if you have one) in a secure place (not the sdcard)
Put your sd card on some other android phone with cwm and format it from the cwm mount/storage option.
if you don't have a nandroid backup skip the next two steps.
mount the sdcard in your computer and create two folders in the sdcard (a folder inside a folder) name the parent folder as "clockworkmod" and child as "backup" .
Put your nandroid backup in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Now put the Rom zip file you want to flash in the root of the sd card
Power down your phone.
Put the memory card in your phone
Boot into cwm and try to flash the rom.
If the second step fails with "error mounting sd card" try with another memory card or with another phone.

Format /sdcard never worked for me, format with your PC, use MiniTool Partition Wizard, the best !

hmmm ur sdcard partition may be corrupted then
do u have mount/extsd option in cwm?
if u have this option try mount extsd if this doesn't help too,u must unfortunately flash stock rom
What format is the card in? Some CWM versions might not like certain formatting. Have you checked on the thread for CWM for your device to see if others have issues mounting their SD card? Are you able to mount the SD card via PC with other readers? Might need to either try a different version of the recovery if available or to reformat the card via PC (make sure you backup stuff to the PC first as it will wipe everything).

Can't access internal memory from PC after repartitioning

After installing cyanogenmod 12.1 on galaxy s2 and repartitioning (6Gb system) , I can't access internal memory from my pc.

Try to wipe internal storage via recovery. This helps often.
Wiping didn't work

I tried wiping via the cyanogenmod recovery.
The situation is still the same.
What is also odd, that I cannot use my camera or gallery and I get a "no storage" message or "insert SD card".
However, if I install an app, it works....
I'm kinda lost here.
Should I revert to the 2GB system before the repartitioning ? Maybe this is the problem ?
Maybe I should try to mount the USB storage ? (If so, how do I do it ? I can't find my clockwork mod recovery screen)
Thank again

With TWRP, you can change the filesystem type from the wipe menu for your internal storage. After repartitioning you should format your internal storage or else you will have this no storage error. Format your internal storage to ext4 or fat. Do not use exfat as I had some problems accessing it from my pc.
As far as I know, apps are installed to your system partition so you wont have problems with that but if you try to download or take photo (something that writes to the internal storage) you will have no storage error.
EDIT: Use fat because you might have problems with ext4 on windows.

I did format my internal storage after repatitioning to the default format...
If I understand correctly, you suggest that I redo the process:
1. wipe data/cahe/delvik
2. install TWRP
3. Repartition
4. Fromat internal storage to ext4 or fat
5. Re-install cyanogenmod
6. Everything will work fine...
Right ?

Don't wipe anything. You dont have to repartition again.
Go into TWRP (if you dont have it, flash a ROM with TWRP recovery.)
Wipe>Advanced Wipe> Choose Internal Storage from the list >Repair or Change File System>Change FIle System>Choose FAT
