[Q] wanting to smash this tablet right about now - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Okay. So my first issue is that I have been ebaying nook colors. Apparently I ended up getting a 16gb nook tablet instead of a color this last time. So the rooting process is apparently way more pain staking than the color was. Here's what i've tried so far.
First i tried this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056626
I set up one main partition, set it as active, my computer found it, and I moved all the appropriate files over. Inserted the SD card into the NT, plugged in the power cord and BLAM..... it won't even turn on. Pop out the sdcard, and it powers up just fine. So that got me to thinking. maybe i did something wrong, even though i followed the directions to a t.
So I decided to try the other method:
http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/11/how-to-guide-bootable-cm7cm9cm10-sdcard-for-nook-tablet/
well. CM10 is 60mb to big for the way that that guy wants the partition setup. So i figure.... okay. I'll just swap CM10 for Liquidsmart (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274244) and it's still to big! So I Deleted Gapps and now LiquidSmart fits.
So i'm about to try that method. i'm hoping it works. But i'm concerned because it doesn't call for a boot menu (re: twrp) to be transferred to the sdcard. So here goes. I'll post back in a few.
eta: WHOOT! Progress! got the boot screen to come up. but now it says "booti: bad boot image magic (in memory)
thoughts?

Get readymade.image here and run CM10 from sd. If you decide you want to install internally you can use the card to boot into CWM and install internally from there. It runs extremely well from sd though!

okay. so here's where i'm at. to be able to actually get INTO the boot menu you have to modify the files per http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/11/how-to-guide-bootable-cm7cm9cm10-sdcard-for-nook-tablet/
the problem with this is that none of the roms i've tried will install after modification. They will attempt to, but they all abort due to one reason or another. that is to say that they will not install.
"set_perm: some changes failed
E:Error in /sdcard/cm-10.1-20130605-UNOFFICIAL-acclaim.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted."

Why not use the readymade image I suggested? Just download, burn, expand one partition if you want to and run. Easy peasy!

It looked like you were trying to follow a guide to make a sd card install so I gave advice for an Easter option. You can still use that readymade image if you want to as a bootable CWM card and then install your ROM and corresponding gAppps.

Go and get a 16 gig microsd card and try it again.
A 2gig card is only good for recovery.
Are you trying to make this a dual boot thing with CM10.1 and the B&N original? or are you getting rid of the original os, and going stricktly Android?

im trying to blast the original rom and put on cm10.1 or one of the others. In theory a 2gb card should be all that is needed for a flash, however NOTHING... and I mean NONE of the tutorials i've read and tried have worked.

it's been about a week since i tried this last so i forget exactly where i'm at. One of the tutorials i used got me into the boot menu but nothing would flash over. All the tuturoials saying to use winimage don't work at all. and thanks to that program I lost 10 years worth of programs because i chose to ignore what drive I was formating. Luckily i was able to use a partition checker to get most of them back. but that's another story.

I would have to drop out of Mac OSX and reboot into Windoze to see what I used. Something that works on microsd cards.
I did not have a read/write adapter for my PC yet and did it through my Nook buy using the Nook and microsd cards as external USB drives.

I can't help there.
I did not have that problem.
Might try a search for it?

Dude, I have a Nook Tablet 16GB too. It's really easy to flash, takes literally 10 minutes max.
Don't randomly do things next time, I took many hours to research before flashing my NT with Cyanogenmod.
Watch this video. This guy explains things really well.
youtube (dot) com/watch?v=c6D4s3okNQk

Not sure what your problem is. I took my Nook Tablet 16GB from a rooted stock 1.4.3 ROM to CM10.1.2 stable release in about 15 minutes. Fully set up, apps installed, multi-touch FW installed in less than 30 minutes. One of the easiest upgrades I've ever done on an Android device. And this 10.1.2 is amazingly stable, fast, excellent battery life, like having a brand new tablet.

I reload CWM recovery to get out of a boot loop. It has worked every time so far. For me, every time I've tried to load TWRP I get into a boot loop.

New NT won't boot off of SD?

Hey Guys,
I just got my 16gb NT during ebay's $199 sale. I'm having a serious problem getting the thing to boot off of an SD card. It came stock with 1.4.1, but I think something's different because I've tried:
Restoring back to 1.4.0 with the acclaim_update.zip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402190
And the NT root SD card
Nook Tablet Root SD Cards
No mater what I do, I can't get it to boot off of the SD card via the zip or into CWM, all I get are factory reset screens instead of CWM. I've tried 3 different SD cards.
I'm going to give this a shot next:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470910
I don't know if it's going to work, so any help would be greatly appreciated. What's stopping my NT from booting off of the SD?!
why go back to 1.4.0 you don't need to. use indirect method using his image writer tool supplied if your on windows it sounds like you are not formatting the sd card

I've tried formatting the cards both using windows and the NT internal tool. I've also tried writing the image file both directly to the SD and to the SD mounted in the nook.
I'll try indirect's method first.
I wanted to go to 1.4.0 to snowball.
It is my understanding that BN made a change in the new 8 gig NT that somehow prevents booting from the sdcard. Check other threads. No one so far has been able to boot from sdcard. Making some changes in Indirect's setup may solve it so I read on one of the threads. good luck.

Doesn't work. Formatted through the nook, connected through the nook, wrote the image through the nook, etc. Went to go boot up (power+n, screen on/off, eject/reinsert card, power on) - all I got was a factory reset option instead of CWM.
Something is amiss.

That change is the bootloader locking up because it's the wrong bootloader.

Again, this is a 16gb nook tablet, not an 8gb. It looks like, very very briefly, I may be getting something other than the factory reset screen - I see what looks like the start of the nook bootup animation, then a green arrow that flashes quickly, before I get the factory reset screen.
I bought the NT from the Ebay sale last week as well. Have you heard of anyone else having issues booting off the SD card?
I was planning to book the NT tomorrow. Sounds like I might be returning mine if that doesn't work...

Try turning it off completely, inserting the SD card, and plugging it into your computer.

so to clarify things. you put the acclaim update zip on the sd card. and did you let it reset your nook to 1.4.0 or not? Also you don't have the acclaim update zip on your memory card when you are trying to boot off the sd card do you?
It did not try to reset it. It didn't do anything other than boot normally.
I know it sees SD cards because i can look at files, but it did not boot from it.
ok. wipe your sd card. put on ONLY the acclaim update zip. nothing else. stick that in your nook then turn it off. (in that order) then when it powers back on, let it update your nook
once it's updated, turn your wifi off and check what version you are on. then delete the acclaim update zip from your sd card and report back. KEEP IN MIND. it's NOT "booting off the sd" for this. it's just resetting the software to 1.4.0. if you think it's supposed to boot off a sd for this, think again. expect to see something along the lines of a factory update. that's what it's supposed to do whenever the acclaim update zip is on your sd card.

Yeah, you're not affected by it. Your problem is operator error. They can't change hard-coded IROM with a firmware update.
I don't know what I did but I finally got acclaim to wipe me back to 1.4.0.
I had 3 different SD's formatted in various ways through the pc, through the tablet, etc. Each time it was ONLY acclaim on there. 158th time's the charm, I guess.
Now to tackle the apk parse errors while trying to sideload stuff.
Parse errors are caused by selecting the first button option just once when installing an app and then the second option button which is the only one you should ever select will give you parse error as well. If you do a search on parse errors you will see it.
All the Best
I was having issues with my SD card not booting last night during my CM7 install. After checking my work in Gparted I knew it was OK. Finally I unzipped the files into the upper root and it booted. I know I had it boot with the zip before but this time I could not get it to work?

[Q] Nook Tablet 1.4.0 stuck on boot loop

hi new to the forums so please be nice. i have a nook tablet 1.4.0 which was rooted before with the first cm7 release im guessing. well yeah i recently gone back to college and wanted to update my nook so i wanted to delete everything to restore it to stock, idk what program i used or what i did but it didnt work. i think by that time i was stuck on a boot loop where the n logo just goes on and off after that i saw a thread about a total wipe by using ubuntu i tried that and it worked perfectly i was back in stock. my stupidy lead me to want cm7 back since the apps in nook tablet stock wont let me read the books i have online. as soon as i tried to get cm7 i was stuck in a boot loop again i wanted to see if the ubuntu thing was gonna be the solution for my stupidity but this time it didnt work. it was stuck in "writing all zeros". i tried another boot loop solution by ray waldo it didnt work. i can still run cwm but it has some errors in the background saying "can't mount recovery/command/log/log/last_log/last_log. i want my tablet back just to get it to stock is the best solution i would want and i would just keep it that way. ty for your time.

First thing I'd try would be to make a bootable CM7 SD ROM. If you can boot into that SD ROM, you'll at least have an operating system for the time being, and you can still try to figure out/fix the problem that was created in the internal system.

You can still put files on your SD card. The let me try to explain:
The CM7 image that you wrote to your SD card created 4 partitions. By using a free software called MiniTool Partition Wizard on a PC, you can extend the 4th partition (the one for user data) of your SD card to consume the rest of your storage space. The software is really easy to use, you shouldn't have any trouble with it.
Again, I know this all isn't fixing your main issue yet, but at least you'll have a tablet again until it hopefully gets fixed up.

tysm for helping me solar. imma do it fresh from the start right now i have a clean 32 gb micro sd card. i downloaded the cm7 for the sd. i have minitool partition wizard installed. whats my next move. im sorry for the trouble im giving you.
No trouble for me, my friend. We're all here to help.
Okay, so I assume you're running Windows here:
1.) Write the CM7 SD .img to your microSD card using the Win32DiskImager tool found in the opening post of the CM7 ROM thread.
2.) After that's finished, open up the Partition Wizard software and find your SD card disk (make sure it's the right one!)
3.) Choose the option to resize the 4th partition of your SD card. Resize it so that all off the unallocated space becomes part of that last partition.
4.) After you're satisfied with that, click the option to apply those changes and wait for it to perform those actions.
5.) You should now be good to put the SD card into your NT and boot up into your new CM7 ROM!

Okay, you're good there. Go to Disk 2, and the 4th partition down. Click on it then click the Move/Resize button on the toolbar of the program. Then just drag the bar all the way across and you will see that you're changing the storage of the 4th partition.
Report back if you get stuck.

[Q] PLEASE HELP I GIVE UP and throw myself at the mercy of this community

i have read several threads. Installe Ubuntu on a laptop and have come to the conclusion.........I have no business rooting, or anything i hav tried several metods to try and restore my 16gb nt and have been unsuccesful. is there any body out there willing to try and restore it for me. i will pay all shipping and will send it with my 8gb class 10 card. I just want it restored to cm7 or something functional HELL even stock would be great at this point. I do not have the skills to do it myself. It has been bricked for over a month now. This was a device used by all of my family members and now they are all upset with me for ruining it. Will B&N take it back and do a restore? anything ANYTHING PLEASE HELP!
Can't you just start by telling us what you have tried?
Have you for example tried the repart.img card already? If so, what happened?
Edit: I checked you previous posts and see that you tried to get Adam's method going.
Before going through the trouble of sending the Tablet around, try the repart.img
http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/
In short
1. Download, extract zip and save the repart.img in the same folder as you keep your Winimage
2. Open Winimage from within that folder. (Do not "install" and run, just open from the folder!)
3. Choose the "repart.img"
4. Burn it to the card
5. Boot to the card (inserted in Tablet)and wait for green checkmark
6. Turn off, remove card and Tablet will reboot automatically.
If green checkmark doesn't appear after a few minutes and a red cross appears instead, then you're in trouble and nee to try soimething else. But let's hope it deosn't come to that!
o.k.
Thank You! i have followed these instructions. i even started out with a new 8GB SanDisk microSD and a new usb card reader. i was able to successfully create the card. My 16GB NT does boot to the restore screen but I do have the red x in the corner the whole time. When it finishes, i get a the device will shut down in 5 sec. I have tried the re-boot without the card as well as booting with the power button and the cable. i am waiting for a fresh download of adam's file to try that agin. If that does not work I will move onto celtic's instructions.
FINALLY!
Alright! I have returned to stock. courtesy of the AdamOutlerUbuntuTotalReFlash. The problem is the touch screen doesn't work. I will be attempting to restore to a previous cm back up from here. I owe more than thanks to so many people here. asawi, AdamOutler, Albert Wertz, Celtic, indirect. and all who helped. them. I have learned a bit in a minute and have a long way to go. My 16 GB NT isn't fully restored but, it's closer today than 4 -5 weeks ago!
Woohoo!! And I see you already know how to fix the touch. I'm sure you'll do fine, and I hope you come back and let us know about your success!!
not quite
i am pretty happy with my success so far. and it is all due to this forum. I haven't figured out how to fix the touch yet. I have tried to flash a few different things but no success yet.
Have you tried just running CM10 from sd card? I don't know if you can do that and restore original touch firmware, but it's worth a try!
The Touchscreen app is included, so it "should" work...
Here's a link to and easy-peasy versio:
http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/
Download (first download under "Download", ending with SDC-IMG.RAR), extract and put img-file in your Winimage folder, burn to card, pop into Tablet and boot into sd card.
Open the Touch firmware app and go back to original.
Remove card and rebbot into stock and hopefully all is well now!
Since you don't actually plan to run the Tablet that way you don't have to expand the user partition on the card, just run it as it is!
Edit: FWIW, I went and tried to flash touch formware while running CM10 from sd-card, and it seems to work fine. I then took the card out a and rebooted to my "regular" (internal) CM10 and reflashed the touch firmware back to what it was.
(I have no need for 10 touch right now, so I keep it in original until I do),
So you really should be good to go with Succulent's (Iamafanof) ready-made CM10 (or CM10.1) card images!

I think what I am going to try is re-create and boot from the the AdamOutlerCard and see if that clears up the problem. The nook doesn't seem to recognize the sd card or the format? and will not boot to or from the sd card (CWM) . and then I will move on to Succulent's http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/...r-nook-tablet/ . I really appreciate the advice and all the help.

At what stage of the recovery did you get this error message, e.g., during the process of initial sign-in to B&N?
o.k. I have achieved boot to SD card using sucullent's iamafanof cm10 image as instructed by asawi. my next goal will be researching and flashing the internals again. i suspect my initial problem resulted from having both cwm and cyanoboot resulting in the two arguing for permissions and rights. Additionally flashing the 10 touch which led to an unresponsive screen, which led me too trying to clear the "wrong" boot or mount and leaving me with only the cwm boot. patience!, clear thinking and help from all of you here got this device back in working order. Again I am extremely grateful for all the help!

So do you now have your touch working! If so, WOOHOO!!
To get CM10 installed internally I followed the steps under C in my post here. I'm pretty much a noon myself, so I though that if I could do it that way, anyone can. So I wrote the steps down.

Yes! Touch is working. I have not completed the registration for B&N yet. It seems that the updates that they push make it more challenging to root and / or flash to internal. I am just running CM off of an 8GB Class 10 micro SD. I don't want to do the B&N registration yet because I haven't 100% decided to flash to internal. Can the updates still be pushed even thogh I haven't registered? I am considering to keep running of an SD and get a 32GB class 6 card to do that. I would like to have the internal flashed because well let's face it the NT really isn't much to talk about until you. Unlock it's true potential. Question this process which I have followed here the repart and return to stock but running CM off the SD is that considered root?
I'm currently running CM 10.1 from an SD card and it does the same thing as internal boot. All information stored on the SD card with root privileges.
Sv: [Q] PLEASE HELP I GIVE UP and throw myself at the mercy of this community
I can't see any reason not to register your device if possible. You can block updates even if you're running stock as long as you're rooted.
It's more convenient running from internal than from SD, but I can't say I noticed much improvement in performance. Stick to class 4 unless you already have the class 6 lying around.
Be prepared that there might be problems registering after running the Ubuntu restore due to serial number possibly having been wiped.
O.K.

Alrighty then. I guess I will stick with just running off the SD card then. If I can't register then I will probably flash to internal. just curious why stick with class 4? Does the class 4 just run better or more compatible with the NT? How can I can confirm root?
SanDisk class 4 is the SD card most often recomended för NT. Runs fast and well and even devices that are fussy boot easily from it. The way data needs to be read for this kind of use isn't any faster on a higher class.

Is it possible or realistic that I can run a different SD card for different people using the tablet? i.e. using an 8 gig card with games and such for my kids to use. another card for my wife and then a card for myself. My fear is that the kids will eject the card or just not really know what they're doing and do something accidentally? (They are kids after all). My wife doesn't like the fact that I keep changing the configurations. Just overall giving everybody the ability to have the apps and configuration they want without encroaching on somebody else's preferences and hogging up all the space available on the card.

Yes that is possible. Just write the SDC version from iamafanof's page onto separate SD card. Recommended to use at least an 8GB Speed 4 microSD.
The other option is to use the profiles/users feature. It might be only CM10.1 builds that have the User capability. You can set up different accounts for yourself, your kids and your wife.

[Q] How do I access CWM again?

Last night I rooted my wife's nt from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037368 Got my brown box, went to CWM installed .img worked like a charm. When it came time to install CM7 then CM10 I kept getting "no files found" which then I realized I still hadn't checked the "USB debugging" or "allow unknown sources" because it was still hidden (I'm assuming it's because of the 1.4.3 update. So I just reboot nook without CM so I could go to my hidden settings. Checked the appropriate boxes, downloaded goo manager and tried to install them through goo manager... no dice. It just keeps booting with the "n" flash and doesn't show me the awsomeness that is CM animation.
I have 2 SD cards I am using (2gb scan disk I used for the .img) and an 8gb scan disk (that one has an HC on it). I tried the 8gb and it wasn't working so I tried the 2gb which I think was a mistake now because I reformatted it. (you'll see why in a minute.)
Neither of the SD cards were working so I was trying to access CWM through goo manager, by rebooting into recovery... again no dice So then I thought to myself, "well why not just rewrite .img to the 2gb and hard boot that way... well after I initially wiped it to put the ROM and gapps EVERYTIME I try to write the .img on the 2gb I get "file size is too big" I re partitioned the SD just like before and it will not write because file is too big. So I said "okay maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I have a huge 8gb I can use"... same thing, file is too big.
Where did I go wrong? I am thinking that maybe I don't have the most current CWM I think it's 5.0.3.x don't quote me. Did I corrupt my 2 SD cards? It was very difficult to find a .img that didn't have a broken link does that have anything to do with it? Any help would be great!
I want to root and install everything internally so I don't have nook anymore can I get there from where I'm at, or do I have to reboot to stock and start over again. I hope I didn't destroy the two SD cards I have. Thanks for any and every bit of imput you guys!
I would suggest you start over again and here is really easy way to do it:
1. Download, extract and burn this ready-made CM10 sd image to a 2 GB (?) (or larger - not 100% sure of the size since I use a larger card myself) sd card. Use this card as a bootable CWM card. Even if it's a complete run-able CM10 it also works as a bootable CWM! Very handy!
http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/ t's a big download, but it's a more or less fool proof way of doing it! If I remember correctly there is actually room enough to put CM10 and GApps on the card. At least the one I use.
2. Boot into the recocvery of that card by pressing the "n" right after the power button and then hold the "n" to get to boot menu
3. In boot menu choose "sd recovery" ot something similar. This will take you to CWM
4. When in CWM install zips, wipe cache and Dalvik and you should be fine!
Once CM10 is installed it probably comes with CWM (the one I use does), so to get into CWM next time you need it, just hold "n" like before, but no need for a CWM card.
Edit: I checked, and there IS enough room for my favourite ROM and gApps on the boot section of the card. "My favourite" is the 1231 build on Iamafanof site. I have tried more recent ones, but I always go back to this one. Just my opinion of course! http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/cm10-0-jelly-bean-for-nook-tablet-uploading/

To flash CM10.1 internally, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43326042&postcount=123 for some pointers.
digimax: am I writing anything to the SD card, or just drag and dropping files? I tried the drag and drop but I don't get the cyanoboot it just boots to nook. So I extracted the boot.zip and only drag and dropped the 3 files from the boot.zip and still just boots to nook. I know it''s simple (it was the first time I rooted my ole shift evo).
The process I describe installs everything internally and is the easiest way to do it. Like I say: almost fool proof.

thanks digimax, i have read that several times over and have tried everything i can think of. i have used different sd cards, different usb cables, usb ports on my machine. i even went out and bought a brand new 8 and 16GB class4 sds and still nothing. i have used win 32 disk imager, acronis dd, ubuntu live, and fedora core that i have dual boot on my machine. i have downloaded the image from 4 different sources( using alberts method) and tried each of them numerous times. is it possible that my NT is unrootable? would it help if i downgraded from 1.4.3? if anyone has a verified working link on an image ill try that. if i can get CWM going then i can take it from there as far as kernels and roms, its just getting to that point that is so frustrating

Just to confirm: what you burn to the SD card (using win32diskimager) is the .img file extracted from inside the downloaded zip file, and not the zip file itself?

I extracted the zip which contained win32diskwhatever and the image file i used win32 in admin mode to write the image and create the partition on the sd card. im currently abandoning that route though and am just going to try breaking down and flashing CM10.1 on it. i saw a post where you had stated that that was an old way so im going to try something newer. i have all the files downloaded and have built the partitions using mini tool partition manager im copying them over now but i think it will be tomorrow before i try to flash ill let you know if it works, and just to be clear when i flash the CM10 on the sd card i can remove it and the NT will still boot CM10?

If you flash onto and run CM off an SD card (e.g., as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36685310&postcount=1), that CM10 SD card has to stay in the SD card slot in order for your NT to run CM10.
If you want to be able to run CM10 without an SD card you'd have to flash CM10 internally on EMMC (e.g., see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43326042&postcount=123) to replace whatever ROM (stock or otherwise) you currently have.
Note thatSD-based installation and EMMC-based installation use different versions of ROM zip files which are not interchangeable, so make sure you pick the right version.

ok i tried using the premade image and putting it on the sd card to boot from. i made sure card was flagged as primary active 0x0C LBA and it was set to boot( if that makes any sense, been up too long lol ) that didnt work. so i tried to build the card my self reading through several times and double checking as i went. still nothing when i try to boot up with the usb cable. i have been using the stock cable could that be a problem? this is what i came up with when the NT booted normal (attachment below) can you tell did i do something wrong? would it be easier to throw CM onto the eMMC? if so can you link me to a version of CM that would work on the NT 8GB? thanks in advance!
Personally, I had trouble booting & running SD cards. I'm convinced it wasn't hardware but my noobness! Since then I've always loaded only to emmc. I also had trouble going directly & straight to CM10 roms from the B&N 1.4whatever OS.
So, looking for a recovery + rom that matched, I used Indirect's app to get cwm 5, then had no trouble loading a CM9 rom (all to emmc). Once CM9 was up & running good, I used Goo Manager to load an updated TWRP recovery suitable for CM10, then Cm10.1, etc. That's what worked for me & to this day I see no need to boot from SD's. Just me tho.

If booting of a pre-made image does not work, there might be a flaw with your NT that precludes it from booting off SD card, and if this is true I am not aware of any way to root or flash stock ROM onto emmc if your NT is currently running stock.

It's indeed true that there really doesn't seem to be anyone not being able to get their NT to boot from sd, provided they follow suggestions. So I repeat the questions I asked in your own topic (and please, try to stay within one thread to maximize the chance of getting this sorted!):
1. Are you 100% you are dealing with a Tablet and not a Color? (Model no fr Tablet 8GB is 250A)
2. Are you using a SanDisk class 4 sd card? (And burn it according to instructions)
3. Have you tried turning the device off, inserting the card and then insert USB cable connected to power (not computer!)

ok through a series of unfortunate events and through no fault of my own i now no longer have a NT but i do have a nook color now. for those of you wondering i DID have a tab but the screen ended up mysteriously shattering. wife was trying to be nice and ordered me what she believed to be a tablet but a color shipped instead. still trying to decide if i want to do anything with that but thats for a different thread. so i still dont know what happened the tab wouldnt boot CM10 before it broke ( or after either lol ) but i pulled the sd out and tried it again in my wifes tab using the wall charger to jumpstart it and it booted CM right up. so i guess i just got the crap draw out of the nooks we bought at the exact same time. still trying to figure out how i can pin this on best buy for selling me a faulty device lol, but i just wanted to say thanks for everyones help and feedback. when i threw the sd into my wifes tab it loaded CWM and CM10 just fine. ordered her a class 6 san disk sd to put in it to see if that helps with some of the lag issues.:good:
Ok, so I'd like to piggyback off this before starting my own thread. I have a bunch of Nook Colors that I have no problem booting off of SD cards for my kids. Now the 8gb Tablet is proving much harder for me. I've redone the SD card method 4x by two different methods and I keep getting the same result: It boots up fine, allows me to create the google account and even dowload apps. However, out of nowhere it will reboot and then I am stuck on the CM10 boot screen that just loops forever. I am repartioning a 16 GB card, making it active, windisk img the zip file to the card fine.... Does my symptom sound specific of something? Let me know. Thanks!

I encountered this same problem for the first time yesterday when I tried out a CM10.2 SD build.
If you are using 10.2 you might want to go back to using 10.1 for a while longer.
Yeah, but what if I'm on CM 10.1? I used one build from June (2x) then one from Aug (2x) and now have the same symptoms. This does not sound indicative of something specific? Like aren't some 8gb tablets troublesome from SD? Or is this a user error still of some sort?
